We didn’t get to try the food but the drinks were good. For American Whiskey drinkers make sure you get the Blantons. The pour is incredibly reasonable compared to what it would run back in the US.

The greatest pub in the whole of Manchester. I’ve been coming here for 20 years and I’ll carry on until my last day. Whilst the beer garden and beer have changed over the years, the inside is basically the same as it’s ever been. A fantastic atmosphere, never any issues. A bastion of sanity in the madness of Manchester City centre.

Stalwart of a pub that’s obviously been going a lot longer than the 30ish years it’s been a part of my life and I dearly hope it’s here long after I’m gone! Great for small groups and a quiet pint on your own. It’s had ups and downs but the beers are handled better now than they have been recently, whisky (if that’s your thing is a real bonus), and the vibe is always great. Cosy fires when it’s cold and a useful beer garden when it’s not. I love it here .

This pub is an historic gem which must be saved at all costs. It's not that i want it to be preserved in aspic, more that as a living, breathing centre of its community i want it to carry on meaning something to its customers. The interior alone is worth saving for what represents in terms of pub architecture, but this isn't a museum, it's a great place to grab a drink.

Been here a couple times, decided to take my girlfriend this time at about 5pm on a Thursday. The Scottish lad behind the kept twisting up a bit of blue roll, putting it up his nose (like 2 inches deep) then pulling it out to inspect it. It was grim and made us feel sick so we left. We also heard he was making the pies that night so don’t think I’ll ever eat there.

I’ve never left a bad review before but we really did have the worst experience and I’d like to save people having the same happen to them. Bar man told us as soon as we stowed foot into the place that he had had enough and didn’t like people. Atmosphere in the pub was terrible. Posters up saying save our pub. Maybe start with making people feel welcome. He was very rude to two of our party after they had bought him drinks to cheer him up and then said the manager said we couldn’t have any more drinks? No idea why, but could’ve put a downer in a birthday trip to the markets if we hadn’t swiftly moved in to a much more welcoming bar down the same street. Beer wasn’t great but the customer service was worse. The cleanliness was atrocious too sad to see what could be a great little pub look so shabby and dirty.

Called in to this very well known pub in Manchester before going to see Suzie Quatro, at the Bridgewater Hall, which was fantastic!! What a shambles, this place is. Toilets absolutly digusting full of black mould, wallpaper and paint hanging off walls, cobwebs everywhere and not clean at all. The outside area equally looking derelict. The whole place looks as though it needs a good clean. Staff not the best, need to update their people skills in communication.

Excellent Manchester pub about 20 minutes walk from Piccadilly Station. Five cask beers on handpump when I last visited including a porter. There is also a selection of up to 360 whiskeys and bourbons. Lots of outdoor seating in the garden to the rear, some of it covered. The pub is a Grade II-listed 200-year-old multi-roomed hostelry listed on CAMRA’s National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors. It is famous for its highly ornate interior, a terrazzo-tiled corridor floor, moulded ceiling, original 1930s urinals and the serving hatch through which people in the two rear rooms are served beer from the front bar. The moulded ceiling picked out in red and gold is another feature. The name comes from the pub's history as an army recruitment venue and murals depict the Peterloo Massacre which happened nearby.

I first visited the BP n the 1970s and it’s been included on many a day out over the years and I’ve never had anything other than a nice pleasant experience in there. This time the carpet was sticky, the tables were sticky - the place needed a good scrub. The loos were a bit wiffy, too. Throw in to the equation that I didn’t really like the beer either, despite “querying it” with the not awfully friendly bar staff. Half of our party were female but a gobby customer was loudly effing and jeffing in the corner, further detracting from the experience. Not a pleasant experience at all. Yuk.
