We had a great time. Virgin voucher bought by our daughter , that we upgraded to be able to visit The Gotham hotel. Loved the room, the atmosphere, the arched window. Fantastic service. The food was to die for. Great chat to choose the tea to drink, smelling them all and having help by michelle our server. The then nipped up to the bar. Chose a pornstar martini not on the menu. It was delish, whipped up by our lovely barman. We took some cakes home for the kids, but slipped with the box on the train. Gutted. We will be back.

Enjoyed a wonderful meal for my husband’s birthday at the Honey restaurant at Hotel Gotham in Manchester. This was the 5 course taster menu and although each portion seems small at first glance, over 5 courses it’s very filling. Our server Phoebe was lovely, very attentive and friendly. One thing to note is that I saw plenty of people wearing nice trainers. Wish I’d worn mine as my feet were sore after walking round the city centre but I didn’t think they’d be allowed. Good to know that they are!

Phoebe could not have been more helpful or delightful and the whole experience was a perfect way to spend an afternoon.We enjoyed it so much we plan to return in December 😊Thank you.

Booked in for the 5 course taster menu. Setting was amazing with a great view of Manchester. Service was excellent but unfortunately the food let the experience down terribly. The lamb was 70 percent fat, the smoked salmon just tasted of vinegar and we actually both left that entire course after tasting it. For the money there are much better places on offer in the same area. Also the atmosphere was terrible, only 3 other tables with people dining.

Had a fabulous time having afternoon tea at Hotel Gotham on Sat 28th September.Steph was wonderful, very friendly and attentive. In fact all the staff we encountered were very friendly. The food was delicious and plentiful.There was an excellent selection of speciality teas to choose from or coffees if you prefer. A pianist was playing relaxing music throughout. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend based on our experience of afternoon tea, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

We had a reservation at Honey in Hotel Gotham, Manchester, for 1:00 PM on Sunday to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and from start to finish, the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff who ensured every detail was perfect. The atmosphere was intimate and elegant, creating the perfect backdrop for our special day. The food was phenomenal both in quality and presentation, with every dish meticulously prepared and bursting with flavour. We began with cauliflower fritters, paired with maple, sesame, and spring onion—a delightful start that set the tone for the rest of the meal. My wife enjoyed the chicken liver parfait, while I opted for the mushroom and chestnut mousse, both of which were beautifully presented and tasted exquisite. For the main course, my wife had the chicken breast served with broccoli, a goat’s cheese pithivier, pancetta, and a pine nut crust—a dish that was as visually stunning as it was delicious. I had the leek and saffron risotto, which was rich and perfectly balanced. The price for this remarkable meal, including a glass of champagne and a bottle of sparkling water, came to around £130. Given the quality of the food, service, and ambiance, it was worth every penny. This was, without doubt, one of the best meals we’ve had in Manchester in several years. Honey at Hotel Gotham is a true gem, perfect for celebrating any special occasion. Highly recommended!

Always a fabulous experience at hotel Gotham! From the moment you walk through the door, the team can't do enough for you, the food is fabulous, the rooms are luxurious, views are amazing and it always smells so good!

This is the third afternoon tea I have had at the Honey Restaurant and each time has been exceptional. The atmosphere is so warm, friendly, charming and yet not pretentious. Once again we were greeted warmly by both doormen and hosts. Stephanie, our waitress was kind, friendly and knowledgeable. She made our afternoon so pleasant. The food was once again faultless. Fresh sandwiches and tasty scones and cakes. This is the only place in Manchester I will book for afternoon tea. Also the young man playing the piano this afternoon was just brilliant. Thank you.

The greeting at the front door was charming and welcoming. The manager checked us in and she was especially lovely and professional. The table was beautifully set out ave the food and drinks delicious. The waiter described our food in detail and was very attentive and took photos at our request. 3 rooftop balconies which we explored for our last drink. We were brought up 3 celebratory platters. As it is a 5 star hotel we were expecting a 5 star experience in the restaurant. The food was good but the service was poor. On arrival we had no one to greet us so had to stand around until someone came. Went to the bar for a pre dinner drink and was totally ignored by the barman. The decorator was not 5 star with furniture that had seen better days. The waiter did not know how to serve wine. Was not shown the bottle to confirm it was ours and then the top screwed back on so the wine could not breathe. We have had better service at our local Indian than here.

Service second to none ..was amazing .Our waiter was mature and experienced and very attentive. We were also so impressed by the high standard of service from the younger staff members. Managers should be very proud with all the Gotham hotel staff we met from the bell boy, reception and the Honey restaurant staff ..thank you. We will be recommending to all our friends.

Had a wonderful experience at Hotel Gotham. All the staff were warm, friendly and attentive. A very memorable meal in the Honey Restaurant was made more special by the waiter and chef who went the extra mile for our anniversary and assistance with gluten free alternative.We were taken aback by their thoughtful and kind treat at the end of our meal. The waiter too in Club Brass was so helpful. Certainly a special evening to remember, a special stay and attention to detail was second to none. Concierge left a lovely postcard and gifts in our car. Really appreciated the wonderful staff throughout.

Really bad service. Purchased the afternoon tea for two and basically forgotten. The place itself is beautiful. The food is basic I’ve had better afternoon teas at the local garden centre restaurant. Offered lots of tea to smell to see which we would like. Waited 30 minutes for tea. Waited over an hour for any food. Then nobody came to check if all was ok or offered us any other beverages. We finally got the attention of our waitress and ordered two cocktails….40 minutes later asked again…..a further 10 minutes we finally got our drinks. So we ordered another one each and they came quickly but the difference between the two I had which were supposed to be the same was insane, no consistency at all. The 4 drinks cost around £60 which is fine however in almost 3 hours we managed a cup of tea and two small alcoholic beverages each. I feel that the staff are given too many tables to look after rather than areas. They’re buzzing around everywhere but don’t seem to know what they are supposed to be doing. A very disappointing experience.

We visited on the 14th August for a birthday meal out. We opted for the 5 course taster menu and it was brilliant. The restaurant itself is beautiful with great views over the City. Special mention for Julius our waiter who was lovely and friendly and made good conversation with us. Thank you!

I would highly recommend coming here for their afternoon tea, it's a brilliant experience. My sister had bought it for my birthday gift so my husband and I booked to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It is a special place as you're treated well from start to finish. You also get a great view of Manchester from the window! There is a piano player which adds to the relaxing mood of the place. Our server Stephanie was impeccable! The loveliest service we've experienced for a while. You even get to select your own type of tea from a wide selection! The sandwich fillings are delicious and the cakes are delectable. The scones are still warm and melt in your mouth. I would highly recommend it here for any special occasion. Tip: please do bring cash for tips as we didn't know prior you can't use a card to tip.

The best Gluten Free Afternoon Tea I have had! We visited for a champagne afternoon tea for two. Both Myself and my Wife are Gluten Free and I have to admit this was the best GF afternoon tea I have had. All the food was made fresh, the cakes were brilliant (not the usual selection from leading supermarkets) the scones were still warm and so so nice! It really was a plasure! Accessed by the lift (or stairs if you wish, there are a lot as Honey is on the top floor) we were greeted by really friendly FOH staff and shown to our table. We were fantastically looked after by all the staff, and nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend for a GF afternoon tea or just afternoon tea in general. Fantastic!

Came here for afternoon tea as Midland was fully booked. Have to say this place blew the Midland out of the water. Great from start to finish, even the bathrooms were luxury. Great traditional experience with lovely decor and most importantly good quality food - something that seems to get overlooked with afternoon tea. Will definitely go back and recommend to others

Honey Restaurant at Hotel Gotham, is great. The staff were amazing, the service was one the best I've experienced to this day. The food was mouth watering. Will definitely visit again.

Me and my partner came to Hotel Gotham for afternoon tea and we can safely say it’s one of the best we have ever tried. Food: The food is made up of 3 sections: Sandwiches, Cream Tea and Desserts. The afternoon tea features a good variety of sandwiches (8 in total), although me and my partner are not accustom to fine dine tastes so many of the fillings were not for us, we asked if we could change this ham and cheese instead - which they did. They were absolutely delicious! The afternoon tea features 4 scones in total (2 plain & 2 with sultanas) with clotted cream and strawberry jam - genuinely, the best scones I’ve ever had. The desserts were amazing and you can select from a mini chocolate cake with a pistachio topping, lemon meringue cheesecake with raspberry, mango & coconut macaron and salted caramel & pretzel choux bun - all of them were stunning but the cheesecake was the standout - absolutely delicious. Tea and water is unlimited. Service: The service was generally excellent. We were greeted at the door by a lovely concierge who directed us to the 6th floor. Upon arrival we met by a lovely restaurant manager who directed us to our table, our waitress was lovely, and very informative. Atmosphere: The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere, it was very busy when we went but this added to the lovely experience. The decor is exquisite and the ambience matches the brand of the hotel. Windowsill could be a bit cleaner but apart from that, very positive. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone, great value for money and a nice day out!

We hired a private dining room in the Honey Restaurant for 12 family & friends for our daughters 21st birthday. From my initial contact with Natasha & co-ordinator Polly in events, they were extremely helpful. The food was lovely & the servers were great. Our host on the evening Cade in The Club Brass bar was super attentive. Everyone was so friendly which isn't always the case in high end venues. A brilliant night was had by all & a super memory was made to treasure. Many thanks to everyone involved. If you havent already & are looking for something special in Manchester, I recommend you give Gotham a try

Great afternoon tea, service impeccable 👌 and great selection of sandwiches and cake. My only suggestion would be to add butter for the scone, but that's a personal preference. The view was great and steph out host was lovely. Thankyou ☺️

I came to Hotel Gotham not knowing what to expect but I left amazed and desperately wanted to go back inside as the service, food and drink was top notch. Me and my father were greeted by friendly staff who offered to take our coats which was something that I never had experienced in any other hotel or restaurant. We where shown to our table adjacent to a stunning view. Our waitress was very friendly and gave us a box of teas to smell and look at. That was probably the most interesting and brilliant part to our afternoon tea. The unlimited tea was marvellous and the scones, cakes and sandwiches were baked and made to perfection. I loved the decor with classy hotel patterns and a real gold bar on display. Truly an afternoon tea I will never forget. I would love to come again.

I booked for Afternoon Tea for myself and my partner. We recieved a friendly greeting on arrival and had exceptional service throughout. The staff were friendly, attentive, professional and easy to engage with. The food itself was excellent and there was a lovely ambiance. We didn't feel rushed and it was a relaxing experience, that the staff made every effort to make feel special. We really enjoyed the afternoon and I plan on returning in the future.

We went to Honey with no understanding of what to expect. The staff were ultra professional in appearance and ability. The 5 course taster was sublime. Ambiance and service were excellent. Forgive some photos as I was so keen to tuck in, the photo was an afterthought. I wonderful anniversary on Valentine’s Day.

Booked for me and my partner for my birthday, and everything was perfect! Luke was our server and he was so attentive and polite, the food was delicious and lucky us, we had the whole restaurant to ourselves. We were sat right beside the window so could look at the views outside. Overall I'm so pleased with this place and will definitely be returning!

Around November of 2023 I booked a table at ‘Honey’ to celebrate my up coming Birthday in February. I received an Email on January 6th asking me to contact them regards moving my long standing booking due to a “Unforeseen Special Event”. As I was in the area I decided to deal with this face to face as it was obvious this was just a case of pushing the existing customers out to enable a more lucrative booking. When we arrived I was directed to the Maître d whom I asked the exact reason for the need to rebook, as suspected it was due to a Wedding require exclusive use of the restaurant. I said I was happy to move ‘My Special Event’ but what recompense could I expect for the inconvenience.? He offered a bottle of Prosecco immediately which I believe is what he was authorised to offer to anyone who kicked up a fuss. In my opinion this is the least that should be done for anyone placed in a similar position as me and was not offered in the Email. This not being our first time dinning at Honey at Hotel Gotham or frequenting ’Brass’ , the attitude of ‘Honey’ believing the existing customers booked on that day, would not understand an ‘Unforeseen Special Event’ for what it really was is patronising..!

Went for afternoon tea, service from the concierge through to the restaurant was warm and engaging. Afternoon tea was great, a really nice experience and would recommend.

We visited the honey restaurant as a group of 7 to celebrate my birthday. Food and service was amazing throughout. At the end of the meal my birthday cake was brought out already been cut. Cutting the cake before bringing it out took away the excitement and surprise for me, it would have been better if the tradition of presenting the whole cake on the table was maintained. Staff apologised but I really don't understand why someone would cut the cake before presenting it to the birthday person? I have truly never experienced anything like it. Sat there in shock eating my already sliced cake.

We had to queue for a while to get in but we had prebooked online on Gotham’s website using a Virgin Gift Experience voucher (and we put the details of this voucher in during booking). We had a booking confirmation from Gotham but the receptionist then said that we needed to bring email confirmation from Virgin on top of the hotel’s booking confirmation (we hadn’t actually been sent one from Virgin so had nothing to show her). The receptionist was dismissive and made us feel really embarrassed in front of all the other people who were queuing. She said there was nothing she could do and suggested we either leave or pay for the afternoon tea ourselves, despite the fact that it had already been paid for. Whilst we tried to find the voucher details online other people in the queue were having similar issues with their vouchers. Eventually we managed to log into the Virgin website to find a code and were allowed in. But by that time the receptionist was visibly p***ed off with us and what was meant to be a birthday treat was really stressful and uncomfortable for both of us. We laughed about it during the afternoon tea but it was a pretty horrible afternoon. If your tech and booking systems don’t work very well then just be kind and helpful about it. It was supposed to be a special day that we had been looking forward to and you kind of ruined it.

One of the best afternoon teas we’ve ever had, better than some of the top London hotels! Everything was delicious. Wonderful staff and great service. We were so impressed. I was given a gift voucher for this visit but we will definitely be back.

Came here for afternoon tea for my birthday. I loved everything about it. The service was fantastic and really attentive. The food doesn’t rush out; so I wouldn’t advice going really hungry. But we were really full by the end of it.

We finally redeemed a gift at Hotel Gotham given to us for our anniversary whereby we enjoyed Champagne afternoon tea. Everything on offer was gorgeous and we had the nice little touch of an anniversary plate. Ali our waiter was fabulous and very attentive. We were also lucky enough to get a table by the window. Next time though I booking to stay over and enjoy the hotel for more than just a couple of hours

The ambience and attention to detail in the entire venue is incredible, from the moment you walk into the doors you are transported from a Manchester street back to the 1920s! Every single member of staff we encountered was very professional and personable. All the staff seemed Happy to be there which was really nice to see! Mike, our server was absolutely fantastic, he made sure we had everything we needed, explained everything we needed and was really attentive but not pushy, the drinks and the food was divine. I would say its been the best after tea we have had!

We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea experience. The minute we walked into the hotel we were greeted by staff, the porter sang Happy Birthday to me in the lift on the way to the Honey Restaurant. The staff in the restaurant were so friendly and very courteous. The staff are an absolute credit to the hotel. Waiters are very friendly & good atmosphere. Went for afternoon tea - was well worth the visit. The only reason I won't be coming back is that it took 50 minutes to be served sandwiches, scones and cakes. It shouldn't take this long to be served food that doesn't need any cooking time.

Service was brilliant, drinks were really nice, food was lovely just afternoon tea isn't my kind of thing but that's just personal opinion so don't let that put you off, if you like the afternoon tea food you will love this place. Like a book you can't put down until the final few pages and you think was that it?. On a sunny Manchester day the clouds darkened as we approached the Gotham for a celebratory afternoon tea. We were greeted by the Concierge and directed to the lifts (restaurant on 6th floor but fortunately one of the 2 lifts was working). The decor was splendid and the staff dressed in black giving it an opulent feel. We arrived at the restaurant and shown to our table. The staff were all friendly, all the customers loved the Art Deco style crockery and the afternoon tea arrived in a gilded cage and looked great. Like the book, that's where the anticlimax began. The sandwiches were mundane (a take on egg mayo and rocket, smoked salmon, cucumber and marscapone and a coronation chicken style with sweetcorn) - all of which I have made at homeif not quite as delicate. The scones were nice but could have been lighter - they needed the jam and clotted cream. The cakes were dainty and looked good, but like the rest of the meal I have had better. For the class of the Hotel and the effort put into the decor and service, the food was average and not up to the standard expected.

Had afternoon tea here as a gift. Started with a ride in the lift to the top floor of the very Quirky Gotham Hotel. Restaurant was cute if a little cramped. Sandwiches and cakes were OK, tea was lovely- a fine selection but the star was Michelle our server who was more than helpful and welcoming. Thanks Michelle for making our afternoon.

Celebrated our engagement with an afternoon tea at Honey Restaurant. The staff were friendly throughout and made the occasion feel very special. We had the best seat right next to the pianist. Antonio was so good and attended to our every need. Even bringing a surprise celebration plate for us. The tea selection was great and the printers afternoon tea was very good. There was a good choice of sandwiches, with fresh warm scones. The cake selection was fantastic and each one equally as gorgeous. Would highly recommend for the money and place.

Three of us had Afternoon Tea at ‘Honey’ in The Gotham Hotel. Unfortunately the fourth person was unwell and could not attend. It was a tremendous experience and we were very pleased with the polite and professional service we received. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the majority of diners were having afternoon tea in the nice surroundings. Our sandwiches and cakes were fresh, tasty and very filling. One had the Vegan option and thoroughly enjoyed it. Boxes are provided to take away any food you don’t eat. There was no shortage of Tea and coffee, with plenty of tea blends to choose from. Upon leaving we were given a box of sandwiches & cakes for the family member who was unable to attend. A delightful experience that I recommend.

Bought afternoon tea vouchers off wowcher for a birthday celebration here and I am extremely impressed. Every staff member we came across from the door man to waiters were wonderful and extremely friendly and welcoming. Our server, Ali, for the afternoon tea was exceptional. We had plenty of opportunities to have our drinks replenished, food and drinks came out promptly and best of all, we were never once made to feel rushed - which in other experiences of afternoon tea, can be a common occurrence. The finger sandwiches were delightful and so flavourful, 2 hot scones each and 4 mini patisseries. Can’t fault anything. We were also invited to go for a drink in the hotel roof top bar which was also amazing and well priced. We will definitely be returning and cannot recommend it enough - especially if you’re able to get a deal on wowcher!

This was a Wowcher deal bought as Christmas gift. What a surprisingly perfect afternoon tea. A little gem tucked away from the busy ground floor level melee of other dining experiences. From the warm greeting in the foyer and directions by lift to the upper floor and roof tops of Manchester this was a very enjoyable afternoon tea. All the staff were welcoming and warm, nothing too much trouble for them. A superb collection of teas to choose from and sandwiches, warm home made scones with jam and cream and gorgeous mouth watering small cakes. What more could you ask for? Even the few scones and cake that we really didn’t have room for were packed tidily for us to bring home. I would highly recommend this afternoon tea experience and will most definitely return to try other aspects of dining experiences on offer

I have been here several times now and just love it. The building is set in the old midland bank and is very impressive. We opted for afternoon tea and it didn’t disappoint. Fresh homemade cakes, scones and sandwiches which were just amazing. The staff are super friendly and the views across the city are great. We finished our experience with a drink in the roof top bar which again is on another level. I will be back and will brink some other friends and family.

At Christmas we received a Wowcher voucher so followed the usual instructions etc. In the past, we’ve found that Wowcher & Groupon customers tend to be treated a little differently, but this absolutely wasn’t the case at Honey where we treated like royalty from start to finish. We were only entitled to the two course pre-theatre menu, but this was laid out ready for us and it was no problem at all to add a third course. So lovely to get a good deal and not have that feeling of dread when sometimes you don’t know if you’ve kept to the Ts & Cs. Tanvir was fantastic waiting on for us, nothing was too much trouble and he was so polite and informative. Couldn’t ask for any more. Oh, and the food was fantastic!!

I booked this for me and my partner for Valentine’s Day celebrations. We had an amazing dinner. Antonio was the member of staff allocated to serving our table. He was amazing and attentive and made it such a great experience. Thanks Antonio! We would both definitely visit again thanks to you!

Made to feel like trash by staff by simply asking if we could call in for a drink. I had previously eaten there, it is the most conceited place I have been to. Unwelcoming and not worth calling into, don’t bother.

Me and my missus visited this place expecting the food to be of a higher standard, the venue to provide more luxurious seating and the service to be better. The food was good but we both expected better as it looked nicer than it tasted....

I went for a high tea with my friend on Wednesday. The setting was very welcoming. We ordered 2 vegetarian options and when the food came out there was bacon and salmon sandwiches- so we had to get them changed. We had no alcohol. The bill came to £78.75!!!! Check what the price is going to be before you go for your high tea. I only ordered a high tea for £25 each, the waitress said an email was sent out to me to say because it's Christmas it's £35 each- never received an email.... Anyway I won't be returning......

We had the vegan afternoon tea earlier today and it was really good. It even had a vegan version of clotted cream. The tea selection is very tasty. Julio was very welcoming, attentive, accommodating and made sure we were well looked after, he made the whole experience a lot better. Thank you!

I was staying at the hotel on a half board basis and, at first, I was horrified by the experience. They had an all female group in the glass fronted private dining room but doors fully opened . The noise was, frankly, more Weatherspoon, than...

We came on a Saturday night for the tasting menu. Each course was phenomenal and we were pleasantly surprised that we got 3 glasses of prosecco each included. Service was fantastic and the atmosphere was great with a pianist playing in the background. We would definitely come back.

We visited for afternoon tea. Served tea with a cracked chipped tea cup. Tea stewed. . Waiter’s inexperience. Afternoon tea was okay well presented. Coronation chicken with sultanas was vile. Scones dry and little pot of jam and cram for three. There was a lemon...

Finally got to do my afternoon tea which was a birthday gift from the January pre covid lockdown, I live in France now so it wad difficult to travel The hotel made my experience yesterday sublime From the greeting by the door staff The female restaurant reception she simply could not do enough The table was beautiful. The young waiters knowledge and customer service skills will take him far. Thank you Gotham Great experience 👍

Amazing, great ambience, amazing food Service is extra special, Maurice was just so fun and attentive, also went out of his way to find vegan options Its just a very eccentric and cool vibe with classy food

Came for afternoon tea. The food was great quality, and probably perfect if you enjoy afternoon tea and cakes. Service, however, really let them down. We waited over ten minutes to be seen after we sat down, nobody came to ask how our food was or offer us more drinks or even a top up of water. Overall disappointed.
