A week ago i ordered fish and chips for myself. it was my first time ordering from this shop and to be honest i was a little bit worried because the food could be not good. but after it arrived, it tasted so awesome that i finished it as fast as possible. Over an hour wait for delivery, definitely avoid on a Friday night. Order was swiftly cancelled . Food may be ok but I wouldn't say worth waiting over an hour for. Wont be using again

A well known fish bar with everything freshly fried ,a great menu to choose from with Kebabs ,pizzas and a long list of chip shop favourites . There is a good delivery service and the staff are pleasant and quick . The quality is superb and I must say we tend to use them a lot

Estábamos visitando a la familia en Dunfermline y quería un buen pescado y comida así que nuestra sobrina chip recomendado esta tienda. Las patatas fritas eran deliciosos y el pescado estaba bien frito. El servicio era bueno y todo estaba hecha. Pedimos para ir, pero noté que el lugar estaba limpio y ordenado.

Ordered Thai chicken kebab, carbonara, bolognese and garlic pizza bread on using their online ordering service. 20 mins later all arrived pipping hot and as tasty as usual. Enough door for 5 people so the slightly higher price is no issue. Keep up the good work

I decided to drop into this chippy on my way home from work. Looked clean, modern and inviting. Ordered a half chicken with chips, and waited. Then at 6am it started i was sick as a dog and had the trots as well. 6 days later still being sick with terrible stomach cramps i ended up in hospital on two iv drips, i have never been as ill in all my life. I had, I cant spell it, but 80% of dead chicken carry it, hence why supermarkets sell there chickens in oven ready bags to cook in. And I caught it by eating raw chicken. I will never ever go back there OR use the other brig cafe. Stay clear you don't want this or any hospital visit.

Recently bought a takeaway and the food was very nice but the server behind kiosk was constantly touching her face then handling food. A couple of customers complained but the server didn't go wash her handsDisappointing and a potential risk to customers Pity

Been here many times in the past as it is convenient, fish always used to be precooked and therefore dry. Tonight went in, no fish waiting, cooked to order, great. BUT, the staff need to learn what customer service means. When a customer comes in; smile and say 'hello, how may I help you?' Don't look miserable like you don't want to be there. When they ask if you are still cooking fish say; 'one moment, I'll find out' not yell: 'Greg!, ...Fish!!' When a customer asks for sauce, don't lift up the fish with your bare hand and chuck it on and finally, when the customer leaves and says 'thanks, goodbye.' Don't ignore them, smile and reply: 'thank you, see you again.'

I know it's expensive and there are issues with service, but I decided to give it another go as it was getting late and is in a convenient location.The attitude of some staff members will result in this place closing down, I guarantee it.I say it was late, but it was still a good hour before closing. On asking for a pizza, the older gentleman was very pleasant and passed the order on. The younger man at the pizza counter was too busy talking to someone and going back and forward using the phone or staring out the window. Eventually, the older man had to go and get the dough and start it himself, even though he was already cooking another order. The pizza was fine, but the attitude of some staff - throwing ingredients on, face tripping them and looking like they'd rather be anywhere else in the world does not make it a pleasant experience, and meant I had to wait much longer than I should have.The women who work on the counter and the older man are lovely, but a couple of the other guys are letting the place down.It's spotlessly clean, but clearly refurbished in an expensive way, and they're trying to claw that money back by charging high prices. It's really not worth it, particularly if you show bad attitudes to customers. I don't want to feel like I'm inconveniencing you by giving you my order!

Increasingly having poor experiences of this place, and each time (approx. once every 5-6 weeks for the past 6 months) swear I'll not go back. Anyways, on this occasion I did return due to convenient location, but again let down. Fairly quiet, but had to waot on chips which of course has to happen to someone. Just seems to happen to me on most visits. I can live with that though. I would have even accepted waiting the extra minute or 2 that it would have taken to allow those chips to have cooked through properly as I don't appreciate dry and not fully cooked chips. Pretty much a fundamental for a chip shop I would've thought. At £5.10, it's not a cheap option for a sausage supper so the least I'd expect is for it to be cooked properly. Unfortunately this wasn't the first time I've experienced this here. And then there's the service. The lady putting the food in the box and doing the condiments was lovely, friendly, and efficient in what she was doing (if only they were all like her).Then in steps the large chap who does the till mainly. Wraps up the box well enough (no complaints). Unfortunately instead of passing the food over to my outstretched hands he decides to pop the food down on the counter right in front of my hands instead. OK, so it sounds fairly minor but is actually a hugely rude gesture. How would he feel when I pay if I decide to put the money on the counter in front of his outstretched palm instead. Similar to those undercooked chips, he has previous with this same behaviour. Ultimately, there are lots of more affordable chippies, with much more pleasant staff, and within similar distances. Poor value, poor service, and quality of food has deteriorated. If they want to survive they should revisit what made the place successful when it first opened as it is a million miles away from that level at the moment. No intention of returning anytime soon.

Ordered 2 mixed kebabs and fish supper 26.45 asked how much kebabs 9.95 so when given order asked too see what I was getting, the woman with an accent said abruptly if you don't like it don't buy you should of looked at menu!! I said I only asked too see and she was so aggressive in her reply I will not be back mega expensive and to be honest was not near what you get elsewhere, the fish was good however was a lot of batter with no fish. but again too expensive first time there will not be back I don't talk to people the way I was spoken too. And to add injury I found plastic wrap in the salad.

Placed a order around 16:30 for collection at 5 got there at 5 and food comes out of some hot box. Get home 7 mind journey piza stone cold chicken kebabs cold only hot part was chips that were fresh made while I was paying the bill called up to complain and as my daughter had started pizza nothing could be done as we had started eating it what rubbish then offered to replace my cold kebab only. After using the brig for many years I will for sure never be back again MY ADVICE AVOID THIS TAKEAWAY AS IT'S OVERPRICED AND COLD AND HAVE NO CUSTOMER IDEA ABOUT SERVICE

Been going here for over 10 years. It can be a hit or a miss but lately more the latter.First of all GREED - when ordering fidh and chips the brig are no longer giving you an ample amont of chips. They have put less chips eith your meal. There is no need for this, after all they are always busy.Always looking for money money money and lack of chat or sevice.I tried the lasangne which came in a cheap plastic tupperware box. It tasted bland cold and it was sticky. Never again.I find this place incredibly expensive. Is there really a need to charge £7 quid for fish n chips. I dont think its value for money and i find the greed of the business annoying

I tried this fish bar out as the one I wanted to go to had already closed by the time I got there. Unfortunately I wish I hadn't. The food was average at best, with bland fish and tasteless chips. There are much better offerings out there.

Has many things out of it , all good , fish is lovely . Kebabs are good , service is quick , some of the prices for fish is a bit expensive . There breaded fish is really nice .there delivery service is a bit of a wait but that's because they are so busy .

my pizza was stale, and had an extra unwanted topping of broken plastic. then other items were stale and cold and i wouldnt even give 1 star for service as it took over an hour to deliver this crap.DONT!!!!

Excellent fish and chips. The service was quick and efficient and the food delicious. There is ample parking so even collecting the food is easy.

I get nothing out of submitting this review, and the staff who read this will know exactly why I am writing it. This will also finalise my relationship with a takeaway that I actually enjoy eating from. HOWEVER, for the past five fridays, I have been ordering a vegetable kebab, no cucumber with cheese and sauces separate. Is it just me? or is this a difficult order? For the first 2 weeks, I accepted the error of no cheese, despite the fact that I pay extra for this. My partner is vegetarian, so a salad kebab with no cheese is the equivalent of my chicken kebab with no chicken. So on the third week i pointed out that this error had happened over the past 2 weeks, and was assured my order would be correct, needless to say the kebab had no cheese. On the forth week I pointed out that I had pointed out the previous week the order was incorrect, and was assured that the simple request would be correct this time, and again there was no cheese. When I returned for the 5th week, I explained to the staff that for four weeks the order was incorrect, I was again assured that my order was correct and they had checked to ensure this was the case. On returning home When I opened the vegetable kebab still had no cheese, Yup!! five weeks in a row this request,( Please could I have some cheese on my kebab could not be met) this time I chose to go back and show them that there was still no cheese on my kebab, I was uncomfortable doing this, however giving the consistency of this error, I felt I had to, I know the woman behind the counter who I generally find really pleasant, was uncomfortable and apologetic, she pointed this out to the old man who clearly was put out by this, he slapped some cheese on it with a disgruntled look on his face, gave no apology or had no interest in the fact that my chicken kebab that was at home was now getting cold and gave me a half hearted attempt of a patronising smile. (clearly this old man does not have the ability to serve cheese or provide a decent customer service). I hope the staff in the brig spend some time reading these horrendous reviews and try and sort themselves out, maybe when the majority of these reviews turn to good ones I will return. In the meantime, could anyone please recommend a takeaway who has the ability to apply cheese to a kebab?

Ordered fish and chips, single hamburger and a red pudding supper. I live 7 miles away and only popped in on the passing as it looked a respectable place. How looks can be deceiving. The fish was large but absolutely tasteless. Even when it was covered in tomato sauce it was giving me the boke. The hamburgers were made of dog turds and glue and the chips were nothing to do handstands over with either. This will be my 1st and last visit to this place.

This is quite a hard review to write for me as I live the original Brig, it's a great chippy and I'm not sure why the Linburn road shop is so inconsistent. The chips are normally of a good quality although very occasionally they just are not up to scratch. I love a fish supper but to be honest the last 2 or 3 have been terrible so it's time to find somewhere else for this. My wife loves a pizza but to be honest they are so inconsistent i keep telling her to go elsewhere but she keeps going back and keeps being let down. In fact the nay thing we have had from here that is consistently good is the chicken kebabs, very enjoyable and the only thing I'll now buy from there.If you feel like a chippy, phone the old brig and go collect, you will get a better meal.One last thing, prices are a little on the steep side in comparison to other places.

I use the brig regularly, it is one of the best in the local areas for quality of fish/pizza and so on. I would say this review relates to the brig in the town rather than the second chip shop they opened up at Woodmill which is diabolical.The staff are always friendly and the chips are of a great standard.

I've seen some mixed reviews about the Brig regarding delivery and quality of pasta dishes etc, but when it comes to fish and chips, haggis supper, etc they're the best in Town. Always fresh and good value for money. I don't think any chippy does the batter as good as the Brig!

Visted this place in March the fish was absolutely great and the scottish mince pie was the business , being from Edinburgh but having left 35 years ago its great to get the salt and sauce good value meal and truth be known one supper andf a single does the 2 of you as chips are plentyful

Eaten carbonara all my life and never tasted anything like it, sorry. I usually go to the netherton shop, so much better. Had haggis which are usually tasty but this one, OMG.... Soggy soggy!! Another thumbs down. Will never order from here again. Don't mind paying prices like these but this was a real let down and waste of money...

Got a mixed kebab from here for a change rather than the usual fish and chips and it was amazing, the portion size is good and quality is great, have been back a few times for the kebab as it is that tasty than other places and it is not greasy, the chips I ordered though were not good they were soggy and warm, not crispy and hot, I didn't ask for any sauce or seasoning for them and they were soggy, but there kebabs are great and so is their haddock

We love the kebabs here but made the mistake of ordering an hour and twenty five minutes ago at 6pm on a Sunday evening..we've phoned twice to check it's on the way..no apology, just an assurance it's on the way...and it's still not here!!! Poor show..

Went in tonight and was quite impressed by the large menu, particularly pastas, so thought I'd give it a try. The staff weren't very organised, and had to wait for some parts of my order while other parts were sitting staying warm. Staff seem to talk over each other and weren't very sure who was preparing what.The pasta sauce was thick and claggy, and could only eat about half of it. Not very well seasoned and I probably wouldn't try any others. My partner commented that the cheese on his pizza tasted cheap and chewy.The pastas are around £5 but judging by the menu, most things seem too expensive for what you actually get. Much better, cheaper alternatives available.

The Brig is a take away establishment. If you can time it right so that the chips are straight from the fryer, and have ordered something to be cooked while you wait, then you won't get better. I buy fish when there are none sitting in the hot cabinet, otherwise they could have been sitting there a while. The freshly cooked fish has a tasty crisp batter and the fish is always flaky.

Had a special fish supper from The Brig most Friday evenings for the last couple of years, and yet to have a bad one. The fish is dipped in batter mix then breadcrumbs and is only made to order, so always fresh and piping hot. It's also usually too big to fit in the box, so they have to bend the tail over.The shop is always very busy when I'm in, illustrating how popular it is and I can also recommend their pasta dishes and kebabs.For me, this is the undisputed best chip shop in Dunfermline, and I include their other Brig Chip Shop in Netherton Broad Street.

Fuming.....just ordered over £25 worth of food online, which their site said delivered to my post code, when didn't get a confirmation email I decided to phone and check, was told as of last week they no longer deliver to my area, so instead they just rejected my order, said they tried to phone but it was engaged, load of tosh, no one was using the phone they just ignored the order. I also know they delivered to my area 3 days ago so why change it now?

Pizza with chicken and pepperoni with extra cheese, garlic pizza bread and French fries! The pizza was lacking topping for a start off. The topping left an inch and half bare edge the chicken tasted like plastic and although the base was the real deal it was a disappointing pizza. Garlic bread was ok and the chips were cooked in old fat? I didn't feel that it was good value at all. Delivery was swift but little wonder as they only put on half the topping! Don't bother with this one buy an M & S and DIY

About once / month my wife and I will share a haggis supper for tea. For years we have bought this from The Golden Chip, but as The Brig Fish Bar is on our way home from a weekly afternoon shop @ Tesco Duloch, I suggested we see what their haggis supper was like. Big, big mistake !

Decided to order food from here. Ordered a mixed kebab and a haggis supper from their online ordering service. There is no way to indicate what you want on things eg salt, vinegar etc so added on the "cooking instructions" note that I want salt,vinegar and brown sauce on the haggis. Delivery took under an hour and when we took food out of the bag my haggis supper had nothing and there were no containers of sauce (like some other places include). To top it off, it was lukewarm. On checking back, I realised I had ordered from Linburn Road and not the Nethertown one which is miles better. In total cost £16.44 which was quite steep in my opinion.

I placed an order here Thursday 19th Feb. I Ordered two chicken and doner kebabs. My girlfriends kebab was fine, but after a few pieces of chicken i realised something was not right.It was off.I didn't complain at the time as i would just rather avoid the hassle, but today i have spent all day on the toilet.I phoned tonight abd asked for a refund from the manager. All i can say is he could do with some customer service courses as he was absolutely horrible to me. Very defensive and downright rude. He refused to give any sort of refund.Terrible food. on Valentine's Day I placed an order at 4pm for a delivery at 6.30pm. I waited until 7pm before phoning only to be told that there is meant to be a ban on the postcode delivering to Oakley. I had no phone call to inform me otherwise and when you put it in on an online order it tells you that they deliver to this postcode...........absolute CRAP!

Can't beat a fish supper from the brig, well unless you are having one of their chicken kebabs which are seriously good. Ask for extra salad and a portion of coleslaw and you'll be sorted :-)

Probaly the most expensive chippy in dunfermline and the worst for miles around the fried foods are terrible and stale due to lying in top oven food is overpriced for what you get and hygiene well if your happy with staff moving food items with there bare hands instead of tongs bash on totaly disguisting have not been back and now go to armandos halbeath a proper chippy so guys give the brig a bodyswerve and go elswhere

Had a family visit last night placed an order was told1 hour . Phoned back told delivery drivers not back for orders . Another 30 min had to cancel order . I agree with all the reviews on deliveries . Get more drivers would be an idea . Not good service . Won't be back .

This is the second time I have been served cool chips the fish must have been lying for ages,the batter was so hard & the fish supposed to White was brown.It is defiantly not made to order.

This was the original ,Brig now there are 2 in the town ,always busy which is always a good sign of quality . A wide range of fast foods available from ice creams piazzas ,kebabs and fish & Chips .....piping hot freshly battered fish ,puddings ,chickens, chips .Dropped in last night for a huge succulent fish and a steak pie supper in and out in under 5 mins Friendly staff with great banter. everyone working as a team great to see them maintaining quality and consistency

Ok I arrived at 7pm and asked if the King Rib that was in the display unit was reserved and was told no, 4 customers in front of me but also noticed another 3/4 people standing on the other side of the shop, got served and paid my money and stood waiting on my supper getting wrapped, but no joy, they started to prepare other orders and im like HELLO my supper please and was told there is other customers in front of me !!!! I saud I only have a 30min break as im working and was told I would habe to wait my turn !!!so that was it I asked for my money back !!!!DONT GO HERE IF YOUR WORKING OR IN A HURRY !!!!

If you're going to offer a delivery service, then there has to be at least some kind of basic standard you should adhere to. The delivery times from this place are some of the worst ive ever experienced. Ive tried paying online upfront by card, ive tried placing online and opting to pay cash, ive tried phoning the order in, it all makes no difference. Do they not encourage their delivery driver/drivers to get a move on?......No they dont obviously. After nearly a two hour wait for our order, and about 14 curtain twitches later, theres the deliver driver sitting in the car blethering away on his mobile while our order sits there getting cold. Sub-standard service from this place. And dont bother phoning and asking because youre told the same thing everytime " driver on his way", or "will be 10 mins", only to find yourself waiting another hour after that. This place puts no effort in. If youre going to offer delivery, then deliver.

They take ages to deliver. Over a period of five months we have placed 10 online orders and they've taken a ridiculous amount of time to arrive each time. Consistently poor...They really need to get their service sorted.

I've been going to the brig fish and chip bar for years and the new one on Linburn road is even better than the original. I usually get the sweet chilli chicken kebab which is amazing but have also had the fish and chips, pizzas and pasta dishes. I'm so glad there is a takeaway like this in Dunfermline.

I was in for food tonight and the staff were allowing customers to jump the que, resulting in me being unable to get the product I wanted.I'm absolutely appalled and won't be buying food from there again.

visited on the 29th may and first impression was clean and tidy, customer service poor, and prices too high, and as I was waiting for my food I witnessed staff putting salt on a home delivery order and the lid fell off, the food was covered in salt and what did they do, they brushed the salt of over the bin and then put it back in the fryer then back in the box for delivery, not good so wont be back.

ted an online order on the 25th. After 45 minutes I phoned to ask for a delivery time & was told it wasn't even in the oven yet but I said I would still wait for my order. 20 minutes later a member of staff phoned to say my order was still not even being cooked so I cancelled. Although I appreciate someone phoning I will not be ordering from them again

Ordered at half six on a Friday night, 2 meals and 2 pizzas. After an hour I had to call and was told it wouldn't be ready for another 15 minutes! Another 20 after that and our dinner arrived. The donner calzone was vile, the pizza crunch soggy and everything else was just ok. I wouldn't recommend The Brig to anyone, the Golden Chip is a much better offering and Istanbul wipes the floor with The Brig when it comes to pizza and calzone. Poor service, poor food and over priced.

I got a chicken kebab at the weekend, I've used the brig a few times and its usually good but i have been ill ever since. There was one piece of chicken i didn't eat and thats unusual as i normally eat it all but it looked only cooked on one side so i gave up and put the rest in the bin. Unfortunately noticed too late... I will not use the brig again, really dissapointed!

A kebab/calzone shop without spicy onions! Couldn't believe it when I bought a calzone and was told "we don't do spiced onions"! Wow! Never heard of this before! Very clean and efficient looking but come on! Calzone was very bland without some spiced onions, must be the only kebab shop in scotland that doesn't have them!

My wife and I are regular visitors here, as whilst the duloch area of Dunfermline and abbey view are awash with takeaways, the brig does generally serve good food. The kebabs are nice, but not the cheapest around.It does look more upmarket, when compared to some of the flea pits around about.My major issue is the rather unruly queuing system - ie there isn't one, kind of open space and fight to order. Can be off putting and manic at peak times.They take card payments which is handy and the menu is quite extensive.

Wouldn't use them again even if someone else was paying for it!!!A number of weeks ago, my husband purchased a haddock supper in store and about an hour later I placed a sizeable on line order for home delivery consisting of 10 kids meals and 2 burgers and chips. Apart from the fact that we ordered at 7:45pm and were quoted 45 mins to an hour, our food didn't arrive until 9:10pm. Apart from the fact that my husbands earlier supper was pretty dried out, it hadn't stated on the menu that the kids burgers would be battered (as it had with the kids sausage) so it was quite a surprise to open it up and see this hence none of the kids would eat their burgers. Some of the chicken nugget meals only had 2 or 3 nuggets (if they were lucky) while others had 4 and the "collectable toy" was a bit of a stretcher, crayons and a paper puzzle for 5 with 10 kids meals!!!!!.........Neither was I told that there was a £5 delivery charge! I've been unable to find anywhere on the website or paper menu where it tells customers this and I wasn't given a receipt but was asked to pay £45.19 at the door which I did so with haste as all the kids were starving by 9:10pm and in actual fact, my order should only have come to £40.90.I have tried to phone The Brig continually, no matter what time of day no one ever answers and I've also emailed over 10 times AND submitted their on line form. No one has even had the courtesy of acknowledging my mail. Shocking customer service and very lack lustre food. I've had to write off my £5 delivery charge, I guess it's probably a subsidy for their shiny new delivery cars but it takes more than a couple of new cars to sustain a reputable, customer friendly business!Avoid like the plague, The Rosyth Fish Bar offer a fantastic delivery service and great food, that's who I use now. The Brig will NOT be enjoying my custom again!

Very clean, offers a good variety of food and the staff are very pleasant. They take hygiene seriously, only one person handling money and then not touching food, and it is possible to get a reasonable amount of vegetarian choice. Usually a q ,which is a god sign in my view!

Had an excellent fish supper from here over Christmas. We were a group of 7 and ordered a variety of different things (fish, steak pie, king-rib, and scotch pie). All were excellent and the chips were great too. The wait was very short - especially given we were ordering for 7 - and the food arrived hot and non-greasy. The car park is a bonus as well. The other things on offer - in particular the pizza - looked and smelled appetising.

Best chippy in Dunfermline, fast, friendly and very tasty. Parking at the rear as well, convenient and good food!

I thought I would warn all of you who want to try the new takeaway in Abbeyview. I went there as I wanted to try it and ordered lasagna (which was supposed to be made with a traditional Italian recipe) + chips and received garlic bread for free. The prices over there are high, compared to other takeaways in the town, so I thought the quality of the food would match the price. How wrong I was... I have waited about 30 mins before I got my food. The quality of the food was awful: the lasagna was too salty (tasted like there was salt only), chips weren't nice at all, brownish in colour and smelled like a fish. The garlic bread was served uncooked, wet and it was disgusting. Surely not coming back there EVER again.
