Ordered 2 piza’s & 2 portion of fries between my self and 2 children . It was out on the table in less than 5 mins the piza’s weren’t even cooked they were shocking we were all starving the kids had one slice each The fries were rubbish as well big portions but rubbish quality should of just gone to McDonald’s and that’s saying something. Probably the worst meal I’ve ever paid for don’t go there for food shocking

Hot food served on cold plates, tough chewy meat, badly cooked vegetables, broccoli & cauliflower were quite hard & absolutely raw carrots 'Chef' if that is what he is was really miffed when asked for a warm plate, he offered another cold one which resulted in a lukewarm insipid lunch. I won't return, very bargain basement. Avoid!

Came here with the family for food and drink . The food was amazing really enjoyed it . You have plenty around for your kids to do too . Bar staff were all lovely

Absolutely delicious, had to leave some meat cos that much, every veg and potatoes beautiful yorkies delicious thankyou definitely be back and chef serving very pleasant

Came here today for Sunday dinner and it was lovely. The staff are really nice and very helpful. Couldn’t manage to finish the huge portion so we boxed it to take away. It’s very clean and staff keep on top of the cleaning of tables and surrounding areas. Most importantly, the Yorkshire puddings are massive and really tasty! Thanks for a lovely afternoon, we’ll be back. ☺️

We had been swimming in South Shields so decided to come here for an early dinner. We arrived at about 4 30 and it was very quiet which was worrying seeing as they have extended their "Eat out to help out" I ordered a Mexican burger, my partner a chicken burger and 2 kids meals. When the food came, I was pleasantly suprised by it. The Mexican burger was fresh and tasted like a proper home made burger and the chicken burger was very nice too, as well as the kids meals. All in all, it was very nice and with it only coming to £19 for 2 adults meals, 2 kids meals and 2 pints (lager and cider) it is well worth it

I'm not local to South Shields and was just visiting. Decided on calling into here for food expecting nothing more than cheap cafe-like food but was pleasantly surprised when the handmade burgers and handmade chips were brought to our table. Great service and reasonably priced too. Unfortunately no photos as everything was polished off pretty quickly but would definitely recommend!

Genuinely the best cheeseburger I've ever had, no gristle, no rubbish bits of meat, all home made, including the chips. It was absolutely delicious. Service was so friendly and nice and environment really cool. I have no idea why the reviews for this place are so low because we've always loved the food and atmosphere here. Ignore the stars and give it a whirl. Great value, excellent food and lovely staff!

We decided not to eat in our hotel due to expensive menu. I’m so glad we popped into the brig. We visited on a Sunday when the carvery was on and I have to say it was the best I’ve ever had! The meat was so lean and such a great choice! The Yorkshire puddings were so fluffy and delicious and all veg cooked beautifully. It was a little pricey but worth it. Staff were also welcoming and professional.

Just been here for a carvery and everything was awful. Wife wanted beef or pork to be told won’t be ready for half an hour, should be ready before opening, gravy was like water, sprouts were rock hard, most of the veg was cold. We won’t be returning. I should of read the reviews before coming.

Second time we’ve ate here as a family, second time we’ve left raving how good the food is! Simple, delicious pub food - what more could you ask for? Nothing is overwhelming here so don’t go expecting 5 star service, but the food makes up for it! Real comfort food (or hangover grub!) Delicious

OK let's get to straight to the good points (1) The bar staff are excellent and couldn't be faulted (2) If it was anywhere else it would be a reasonable bar. Now the bad points (1) The Panini come with tortilla chips not crisps as stated ,plus coleslaw and salad (2) The pulled pork bun was served cold (the chefs idea ) which fitted in with the cold chips ,and yes it also had coleslaw.To give the staff their due, they were surprised at the idea of a cold pulled pork sandwich and were happy to offer the chance to replace it with something else ,plus gave us a round of drinks free.I decided to try a hot pulled pork bun and to be honest I wish i hadn't ,the contents of the bun seemed to be 75% coleslaw and 25% meat ,usually it's 100% meat in a pulled pork bun. (3) Now for the piece de resistance the Fish & Chips ,most places usually serve the fish with chips and a portion of garden or mushy peas ,but the Brig goes further and adds a large portion of coleslaw (did I miss the episode of Delia Smith where she told us that coleslaw was a must have meal ingredient) and salad ,in fact there was so much food on the plate it was impossible to cut the fish and a spare plate had to be obtained to remove the coleslaw and salad .Oh yes the peas were lukewarm at the beginning and cold by the end.

This place is absolutely terrible for sunday dinner. The veg tasted like it had been cooked in dirty water and was like mush, the gravy was watery and tasted like nothing. The Yorkshire pudding was small and burnt and was also told 1 pudding per person, the beef wasn't to bad to be honest, But the worst thing was the mash potato was packet smash mixed in with a little bit of real potato never in my life have a had a Sunday dinner like that absolutely terrible. The bill came to about £22 with two drinks for me and my girlfriend even tho its cheap please do not go you will regret it.

We thought today we would give this place a second chance.No chance,the place is worse.Still the same noisy 60s/70S music.Screaming Kids.Rattling gaming machines.Same noisy 10 Pin bowling.NO Windows or airconditioning.The food almost 15 mins late.No apologies or sorry.Right to the Food.Mash with the texture of wallpaper past and tasteless.soggy roasts.Sepid soggy Turnip.beef tough as a miners safety boot.The Yorkshire pudding you could use as a concrete substitute.Let's not forget the watery gravy.Sack the Manager and the Chef.Sack the useless lot.we won't be back.Have you nothing to say?

No hay nada especial de excepcional sobre este lugar. La comida es de calidad media, pero se sirve caliente. Las hamburguesas no eran tan buenos, pero adecuado para ver a los niños hasta tesatime. Es un poco caro compère a otros-pub en la zona de los alrededores. No es un lugar en el que me visita con frecuencia, pero como espacio de parada no estaba mal. También es muy ruidoso, con las arcadas, bolera y la música todos a la vez.

I Really don't know wrong here.The Sunday car very was once very good.When you first arrive you walk past the rattle and banging of dozens of gaming machines.Blasting from the wall mounted speakers loud 60s/70s pop music.When you get the restaurant this is joined by loud tv foot ball and more music.Through a open door rattle a ten pin bowl.Children are screaming and running around.To the food.the veg is ok the beef tough.The chicken is always late.watery gravy, and chewy yorkshires.as you wait in the line to be serve an old lady pushes in front of you,and this is allowed.this place is manic.

Visitamos su establecimiento hoy, por primera vez, seguro decir el último.En primer lugar cuando pedimos un menú nos dijeron sus asados o patatas fritas, la comida era horrorosa me refiero sabía de respirar farts. Conseguir un asador que no tenía nada en el "chef" quien fue recoger la comida con sus manos desnudas espeluznante poco mutante. Me refiero a que hace eso, salud y seguridad y eso. En segundo lugar, ¿cómo puede arruinar las verduras que no siquiera añadir algo. Puré de Patatas sabor margarina, no puedo creer que no de patatas. Todos nos fuimos la mayoría de la comida, ya que no comer a un animal.

Me encontré con este lugar cuando tenía 2 niños con hambre para alimentar y estaba lloviendo. El ambiente es un poco extraño, ya que es entre el 10 y el pin bowling juegos recreativos. Tanto el ruido de la música y, además de sky sports era un poco demasiado. La comida era realmente mala calidad - todo parecía ser recalentados. Mi hamburguesa era bastante frescas en el medio, las fichas habían sido fritos en aceite sucio, y puré de mi hijo era redonda crujiente en los bordes. El personal era amable y servicial, y siempre el apropiado para los adornos y cubiertos para niños, pero no puedo olvidar la mala calidad de la comida. No puedo comentar sobre el buffet tenedor ya que no estaba. Mi hijo mayor no quiere quedarse budín, que dice mucho.

Visitamos aquí unas cuantas veces. La comida estaba bien si te gusta templada comida. La única cosa que era fresco eran las patatas fritas y era muy agradable. Todo lo demás con calor o cocidos congeladas. No está mal para un aperitivo no esperes mucho.

No buffet on, very limited/small menu. Dark and dingy. Not a great place. This place should be heaving due to the nearby attractions. But it's dead. Says it all really

Felt I had to do a second review.it saddens me to say the food has gone right down hill.Firstly the carvery.The beef was like an old boot.The cheap industrial grade pigs in blanket were disgusting.Over cooked dry powdery mash.water logged turnip.soggy sprouts.chewy Yorks,stuffing balls looked like Dog ****UGH the roasts and the gravy was OK.The guy that served me was I bit like ureah heep.A bit to much in your face.No wonder the place empty.There are a lot of places to dine in South Shields.This is no longer one of them.Any comments Management??

The brig is located within the bowling centre.we often go to the cavery on a sunday.as a rule the food is very good.The mail problem is the noise level.Piped 60s/70s music,football on the tv,gaming machines,not to mention the rattle and banging of the 10 pin bowling.No free parking.

My son and I popped in to this bar and kitchen after spending some time at the amusements and weren't disappointed. The cost was £7.25 each adult although the sign outside said £6.95. There was a variety of meals including mince and dumplings, sausages, chips, beans, curry, rice, boiled potatos, stewed steak, chicken, salad with cold meats. sweetcorn and soup. Although there was only a choice of peas and sweetcorn to accompany the meal, it seemed a good choice. I chose the mince and dumplings, potatos and peas and thoroughly enjoyed it. A lot of meal providers are heavy handed with the salt in their food but not here which I was grateful for. My son chose sausage, chips, sweetcorn and garlic bread and enthused about how delicious the sausages were. There are no desserts included but you can buy from a selection seperately. Drinks are not included but you can buy a soft drink with free refill. The room is furnished to look like a ship and we were amused to be sitting at a table made to look like it was in a huge half barrel.
