I just love the location and the oldness of this hotel. St Peter's Church is right behind it and you can hear the bells. Some people may not like this and think it is too loud. So each is own. The food and drinks were really good

We have been 3 times and each time, the rooms are worse. On the most recent trip we ended up in a Deluxe room with the most dingy lighting. I even got a Lux meter out to test it. Scored from 1-12 lux in the room, compared to 360 in a normal room and 12000 in dawn sunlight. Shower didn't drain well.

Beautiful building located centrally in Prestbury, next to church for spiritual nourishment. Rooms very (actually overly) warm and yearn for some attention! Herbal teas wouldn’t go a miss or a fridge to help with the heat. Great breakfast though egg order was wrong and more selection would have been appreciated. The Full English made me feel patriotic. Lovely waitress. Clean and to be fair good value for money.

We reserved a table for lunch here on a Saturday. On arrival, staff weren’t overly welcoming. After they had a look at their records, we were told fairly begrudgingly “we’ll need to make a table up for you”. When we did get sat down at the table, unfortunately this was dirty from the previous party sat there. Food was good, but the wrong dishes came out vs what we ordered. Staff were apologetic and this was rectified, but it meant some of us had meals whilst others waited another 15mins. Restaurant area was also oddly chilly and staff said they were unable to do anything about this. I’d suggest bringing layers if you’re visiting! Overall, although food was good, experience as a whole was pretty poor for the price point. I don’t think we’ll come here again.

Poor to be honest. Need to decide if they are a pub or a bar. Full of young individuals rushing through the 'restaurant' area leaving doors open. Service was slow and food mediocre. Used to be a great although expensive place. Now trying to keep that with average food and a weatherspoons like atmosphere without the prices.

Used to be lovely. Went for dinner and ended up with 30+ underage children walking past constantly, freezing cold due to the open back door with the children coming in and out and wated nearly an hour for starter let alone main course! If you want to go to a very slow youth club then go, otherwise avoid at all costs.

Lovely village location next to a beautiful ancient Parish Church and Norman Chapel on one side, and a small river on the other side (I think the River Bollin). Really great food and friendly service. Couldn't fault it.

We stayed for 2 nights gorgeous little village sorry to say we had to change rooms 3 times due to the shower in the first room not working ,too be changed to another room, which was disgusting and shower not working again , 3rd room was offered to us by a member of staff, which looked a lot better than the others but still very tired looking ,we flushed the toilet in the onsuit and it sounded as if there was a train in the room with us for about a minute, if we turned on a tap the same thing happened ,also if you stood on a certain spot in the bathroom again it.would happen. By this time, I was laughing as it had been a disaster .it went off a few times though the night also .could not wait to leave to come back home . Rooms were very hot and stuffy. I was very disappointed as we went for a relaxing break away from it all .when you're paying nearly £200.00 a night, you expect to have a comfortable stay .needs a good clean and redecorating, very tired looking. Staff were very helpful and friendly. i felt sorry for them with the number of complaints they must have to deal with on a daily basis .

Good location. The hotel is old and retains its charm for that reason. The room is a good size, but it is a little dark and the cleanliness leaves something to be desired. The service is a little confusing, as the same person from the lobby serves the restaurant.

Decided to try somewhere different for Sunday Lunch and found this in a Manchester Confidential guide. A 30 minute drive and we arrived - the car park was busy with only a few spaces left. Not sure I like the interior of the bar and restaurant area, not like a traditional pub, rather modern but each to their own. What I felt the place lacked in character, it definitely made up for with the Beef roast. Two very healthy slices of beef, nicely pink, with roast potatoes, carrot and parsnip along with red cabbage and then a bowl of green beans, mange tout and white cabbage to share - we also ordered a cauliflower cheese to share. The Yorkshire puddings looked good and were. We were also given jug with extra gravy in, which we appreciated. Certainly one of the most enjoyable roasts I've had for a long time. Both go us cleared our plates. Can't comment on the accommodation as we didn't stay there.

A trip of two parts. A beautiful pub in a lovely setting. Without doubt the staff make the venue a great place to spend some time. Nothing is too much trouble. The service is superb (a special mention for Syd who was fantastic) and the food was consistently very good from breakfast through to dinner. Well-cooked, hot and tasty. The rooms were clean and spacious, but are tired and poorly maintained. However, the excellent staff and food outweigh the disappointment of the rooms, and they are aware of the need for updating in this area. Would we stay again? Definitely. Overall a lovely couple of days in Cheshire...

Very enjoyable and relaxing stay at the bridge. Staff very welcoming and friendly. The room was okay, but very relaxing listening to the river Bollin flowing outside the window. Food was excellent, fresh, tasty and great amount of food. The service was perfect, special thanks to Karan. The full English breakfast was perfect In the morning. Will definitely return in the future.

Spent two nights here recently, and got an excellent rate. The room was immaculate, and the rush of the near-flooding river Bollin was almost soothing... had dinner in the restaurant first night, and the food was very good. Service by all the staff is cheerful and efficient. If they'd had marmite at breakfast, I'd have given them five and a half stars...Update a year later: don't under any circumstances stay in rooms 22 -27, unless you like the darkest Hotel room you'll ever encounter. Black walls and ceilings, lights that struggle to pierce the darkness. We could only stand it one night, but fortunately they changed us readily for the second night. Otherwise it's as good as ever! Still no marmite.... here for a party, well looked after, hope this hotel stays open...

i’ve never walked out of hotel before but the standard of my room was the worst i’ve ever had the misfortune to experience, including those grubby stag trips. When I explained ver politely to reception I would not be staying in that room her reply was fine and she bid me goodbye . No wonder Flat Cap is in Administration

It's a shame the owners don't give this place a good clean , it's filthy outside the main door and inside has really gone down hill , it won't stop me coming as I love Caffé Nero products and I think the staff are always very friendly but I'm sure it would put others off and with the huge new amount of competition they have I'm surprised they don't want to preserve such a gorgeous unique premises

Great coffee, staff are lovely but the furnishings are filthy & in need of replacing. Shop itself glum looking and toilet needs deep cleaning more often.
