On holiday in Berwick and discovered this little gem. Unique windows drew us in and I'm so glad they did. Really old fashioned pub feel and you don't get that much these days. We went on a Sunday and food was a plated roast with 3 choices of meat (or vegetarian option). We tried beef and chicken between us and both were beautiful, on the side vegetable selection was huge. Carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, beans, sweet potato and cabbage. Roasts, Mash, swede and Yorkshire in addition to the most as well. All for £10 per adult and £6 per child. Service was great as well, travelling with 2 children and a toddler and nothing was too much trouble, they got all the extras we asked for extra plate/spoon/sauce with a smile and talked with us about our holiday etc. Would recommend if your in the area!

We came across this pub while looking for someone where to eat. From the outside it doesn't look like much but when you enter its a long pub with plenty of seating. We sat near the door with ample space. The staff were friendly and the bar had a local feel to it with people drinking and chatting. I appreciated the area kept clear for service. The food was hot, fresh and very tasty. Thanks for a lovely meal and being a great pit stop to dodge the rain and reful.

Terrible... Popped in for spot of lunch with our one year old, customer service was bad from the start the barmaid appeared to have a bad attitude. After ordering a kids chicken nugget chips and beans and literally 5 min wait the chicken came out pink, the chips under cooked and covered in salt bear in mind was for a 18month year old toddler! I expressed my dissatisfaction and said I wanted a refund, however I left with my family without it as they could clearly do with all the money they can get to clèan the place up. Wouldn't give the food to my dog let alone my toddler! If you want a nice meal avoid this place at all costs!!!! As for the response from the owner I'm guessing you've seen the reviews in the past regarding the attitude of the large ginger girl, seems to me you need to retrain your staff in manners as she was the offender yet again! I've been raised to speak to people how they speak to you, so after the food came out raw which is not below standard its simply unacceptable especially off the children's menu! Of course i changed my attitude to match your staffs, which is why i left so fast as I didnt want to cause a scene as looked like the place was struggling enough..Seems to me you need a new cook and barmaid as both were terrible..and individual menus for the tables would be nice I've never had to walk up to the bar in any place to view the menu? I mean wow!!!! Perhaps it's the owner that's the problem? Bad management equals bad business!

I wouldn't normally post a 'bad review' but we had terrible experience here, popped in for some lunch for our 18 month old only to be served undercooked chicken and raw chips which were covered in salt.(bare in mind this was ordered from a kids menu) this is a health hazard they shouldnt be allowed to serve food, really disappointing. The customer service matched the quality of food. Walked out without a refund as our little one was hungry.

23/03/24 One of the most miserable bar staff I've ever had the misfortune to ask for a couple of pints from. Large Ginger female in her 20's clearly dodged the customer service training. Greeted me with a small nod and some sort of gutteral sound. That was the entire comms from the lady. Berwick is on it's knees by the looks of it so I imagine if you're a small business owner you need every advantage you can get. If this is your bar you really want to grab this miserable mood hoover and drag her to the 'minimum standards for manners' classes before your business goes the same way as many others. A smile, some craic and some minor human decency isn't too much to ask is it?

Ordered food and drinks - good value - 5 adult meals plus drinks was around £65. The food was fabulous. The steak pie portion was huge & the meat delicious! The teens had the smash burgers & said they were excellent. There’s a pool table (£1 for 2 games which is really well priced) which kept the teens happy whilst we chatted. Excellent find - would very happily eat there again if we visit in the future.

After giving this place 4 chances/visits to settle in and get established after reopening and being frequent customers under the fantastic previous manager Margaret today we thought let's give it another chance..... Well all I can say is it still needs a lot of work and some more staff to bring it up to anywhere near what it used to be. First of all have enough staff in on the bar to actually serve people with drink and food....it's fine having a separate till for food orders but not at the expense of people wanting a drink who are left standing wondering if they will ever get a pint.....it's a pub so not asking too much?? I never got a chance to review the staff but from looking at what was happening it looks like they were so under pressure from trying their best they didn't stand a chance and I felt sorry for them. Obviously everyone has a different experience and this can differ depending on the day of the week and time you are in but this was Sunday lunch time and it was unfair on the staff there to expect them to run a full pub. We won't be back.......

When theBrewers Arms reopened we had high expectations having been frequent visitors most weekends for Saturday lunch, our first attempt at trying out the new menu was met with disappointment as we were told they were not doing food to allow the kitchen to catch up, this was 1:30 on a Saturday afternoon. Undeterred we came back a few weeks later to have another go, the menu is ‘similar’ to the old brewers arms menu, so I had the curry and my partner had the cheese and onion panini. Back in the day you had the choice of rice or chips or half and half with the curries or chillis, not anymore, totally accept this so had the rice as it is the only option. When the food came out the panini could best be described as anaemic looking my partner had about two bites and gave up, the curry was more of a chicken in gravy offering rather than a curry sauce, the rice was a serving from a small upturned dish very nondescript. After we had eaten, or rather left the food the lady asked if everything had been ok, my partner said “not really “ , they just took away the plates and said “sorry “ Unless there are radical changes to the food offerings we will not return again, such a shame as this was probably the best pub food in Berwick upon Tweed.

Sunday Lunch was superb, £15 for 3 courses, unbeatable value, and the food was excellent!

Popped in for my tea on my way home from dropping passengers off at Edinburgh airport. Made to feel very welcome staff were friendly and pleasant. Food was excellent I had the scotch egg for starters & steak pie for mains both were delicious, portion sizes were good too. Sadly I couldn’t test out their selections of beers for obvious reasons. Will definitely be back as & when I’m passing.

We popped in for evening meal. They are newly trading after a period of being closed. Meals were typical pub grub. We had veggie curry and naan bread with some potato skins. All was pleasant apart from the naan bread which was very hard. Service...

Ordered lasagna for partner and vegetable curry for me. Waited an hour for it to arrive and was chicken curry with solid but bits of 'naan'. Just had to eat rice and sauce as no time to wait for replacement....

Extremely difficult to review something you never received. Booked a table for 6 people, arrived and totally ignored. After an age of waiting were eventually informed that they had gone home early. The staff of the golf club were miserable and unhelpful and the people inside looked at us like we had just fallen off someone's shoe. The comments made by some members seated outside on our leaving, who informed us that they are useless....says it all really.

Popped in for drinks on a night away and I wouldn’t return. The place was dark and lacking atmosphere. The barmaids were in an abundance compared to the amount of customers on a weekend. The barmaids were chatting about the lack of their sex lives speaking so loud using absolutely vulgar terminology mainly about how they hadn’t been touched by their partners in x amount of days and others saying how many people they’d been with in that weekend. The chatting was very loud so the whole bar could hear but mainly entertaining 4 old/drunk lonely customers around the bar. Not a wide selection of drinks it looked like they were waiting for an order that was late. Really not our cup of tea at all no wonder it was dead with more staff than customers. If you think conversations like that are appropriate for all audiences you probably shouldn’t work with the public. I’d have liked to say it was just the younger staff talking about such matters but an older lady in her also involved.
