Had a hen do on 15/06 thay did sandwich and cakes afternoon tea

Ok for drinks but food is not good. Better to pop across the road to spoons.

Great pub in a very beautiful building.

If you are looking for somewhere to eat in Maidstone give The Brenchley a miss. The quality and portion sizes was shockingly bad. A big thumbs down 👎

It was good thanks only thing was the 3 for 2 offer meant you had to the 3 pints at the same time which is annoying but apart from that all good staff were nice

Lovely old fashion pub, been around for a good few years. Good atmosphere, food very good and beer excellent.

Have been going for breakfast for years and today we had the best service and best breakfast. The food was well cooked, good quality and well presented. Staff were pleasant and engaging. Well done. We will be back.

Fantastic pub for food and drink

It's a crowded place, but good for a bigger groups. Drinks are self service and food orders will be served to table. It will be so much noisy when all tables are occupied. There is a open garden seating area as well in the behind

The staff are so lovely & helpful. We have a dairy allergy & they made us a special salad. Thank you so much & we will definitely come again!

The Brechley has a nice outside area in the summer months and plenty of indoor seats. We’ve never eaten in there but it dues usually take a very long time to get a drink at the bar. However, we noticed the garden had table service this time. It’s great for a stop off drink.

Have been here a few times and probably continue to visit this pub. It is more expensive than spoons but still reasonably priced. There is a variety bar to choose from with some cocktails, though the list isn’t that great. Food is pretty decent here and definitely improved over the years. Portion size is large and you get your moneys worth. The building is impressive and the decor is lovely but what really makes this place is its beer garden. Fantastic in the summer with music playing, generally a good vibe. Nice to come for pre drinks.

Nice ambience and decor with good food and a variety of drinks. My go to place in town. Very friendly staff and reasonably priced. Would recommend!

First time coming to the Brenchley and really didn't like the Atmosphere, I bought two pints and it was very expensive. I witnessed some guy doing drugs in the toilets and reported it and the staff didn't do anything about it. You could hear really awkward conversations between the staff. Might as well go acrossed the road to spoons better prices and friendly staff

its very expensive and you might aswell go to spoons over the road. Staff are rude and make you feel uncomfortable when they start talking about you because your apart of the LGBT community. Never again

Not as good as it used to be . Prices have gone fairly high compared to a few years ago and service is a bit slow. The beer garden is good in the summer and nice pizzas. If you want cheaper drinks cross over the road to spoons.

I haven't eaten here, just a few wines! They have a wonderful outdoor space. It's a great atmosphere in a spectacular building.

My first time in this pub, slightly different atmosphere to the Wetherspoons across the road. Food was good, the ale/beer was also good and surprisingly cheap and craft IPA was normal price at nearly double the cheap ale!

What a fabulous pub, nice size, didn't feel crowded, we sat outside in the garden where there was another bar. We didn't eat here, but food going past looked good.

Ordered a pimms, cost £9.60 and didn’t even have any fruit in it. Spoons across the road, half the price for a pitcher not a pint and lots of fruit. Poor show Brenchley. Loaded fries were good though. Barman in the waist coat was sound.

First visit to the Brenchley and we were impressed. Popped in for lunch and the whole experience was lovely. Quite pricey for drinks as a pint of Fosters & a white wine spritzer was £12.00. £4.50 cheaper across the road in Tim's Muggleton inn. Brenchleys had a good selection on the food menu. I had Hunters chicken for £12. Very nice but could have been a little hotter. My wife had steak pie £12.60 which again could have been hotter . Lovely venue with impressive decor. Could happily have sat there all day. Apart from the music it was fairly quiet & it appealed more to the older generation. It has an outside bar apparently that we didn't have time to experience & free WiFi that you have to request a password for. Will definitely come back.

Very nice meals coffee was good enjoyed a lovely lunch at a reasonable price service was good even though it was busy .music could have been a bit quieter with the amount of people it drowned out conversation a little. New menu was great

From looking at the pictures, and having never been before, I thought it best to book a table, how wrong I was, even on a bank holiday weekend......it was so quiet. Our group said service wasn't great at the bar, food was ok, although my friend left his gammon due to the whole meal being too salty. Not sure I'd go back

Had a brunch here today’ excellent’ Lovely food and drinks’ and the Manager Conner and one of bar staff’ hannah could not be more helpful’ We will definitely be coming back again soon’ the place to come in Maidstone. 👍

This was my first visit to this place and it was rather dead for a Friday night. Didn't expect much from the Wetherspoons, but it was fairly decent. The ambience and lighting though definitely did not match the Friday night vibe; it was just too bright (for my liking atleast).

Met friends for breakfast on a Saturday. Appreciate there were a group of us but I thought the service was poor . When ordering food we were asked for table number but when food arrived the member of staff had no table numbers so was a free for all . Ordered the Brenchley Big Breakfast and apart from it taking over 30 minutes to arrive there were three items missing . No second Sausage , No second fried egg and No toast . Mentioned it to 3 different staff but nothing happened. Due to car parking running out and breakfast getting cold decided to eat it and leave . Not great

Ridiculously overpriced drinks. This is Maidstone, not London. Visited on a Friday night. Reasonable interior space but with the atmosphere of a wake. Should have just gone to Mugs.

The Brenchley has a Great Atmosphere.

This was a nice bar in Maidstone centre, service was good and good was nice. We had a couple share platters and everyone seemed satisfied.

Absolutely awful experience. Came here for breakfast. Was ignored, treated rudely and when I said that. The guy continued to be rude saying youre welcome when I advised he hadnt said thank you when he plonked coffee down and walked off without a word. I was so disgusted how he thought you should talk to people I wanted to report it. He said he was the manager Connor. He was vile. A massive ego, arrogant and on that experience wont go back again. I run a large local group and will not be organising anything here. Their continuous loss it looks like. Stupid. He seemed smug. About what? Losing business?

We use this venue often on this occasion the food was cold and poor. The venue was cold and empty very disappointing after previous experiences which have been great

A disappointing meal to say the least. I had the dirty burger which was supposed to have crispy bacon the bacon was barely cooked. It should have had sauteed onions what was on my burger I can only describe as a boiled mush. The pickles were missing as was the mustard, mayo and ketchup, the chips were barely hot and the sauce which comes on the side was also missing. My mother had the souvolaki chicken wrap which was cold. (Souvolaki should be hot so misguided information) and was just a curried chicken salad wrap. This should have had crumbled feta which if it was in the wrap was undetectable. The young man with blonde hair who delivered our food was lovely and polite however the young lady who cleared our table with brown hair and glasses had no interest in listening when we tried to tell her the issues with the food. Overall a disappointment!

We booked our staff teams Christmas lunch here and we were so impressed with the ease of booking, the food and service. We will definitely book again next year. Thank you

Came here for a breakfast menu confusing as at the top of menu says breakfasts, however on pub classics for exactly the same breakfast they charge 5 pounds more each , a total rip off , not even a drink offered for the extra 5 pounds , on the plus side Conrad was lovely and polite.

Nice place in central Maidstone. Unfortunately he breakfast I had was not good. The egg white was not cooked.I did ask for it to be cooked a bit more. They flipped it and brought it back out to me. The hash browns looked cooked on the outside and were very greasy and still cold on the inside. Overall very disappointed. I would not eat their breakfast again. Not good quality or value for money.

Absolutely loved it here. The food was absolutely amazing and a good sized portion. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. The atmosphere was good, not too loud and cosy. I will definitely be returning

Awesome with great staff. The all day breakfast needs to be bigger as I thought it was a little small for £12.

Not much atmosphere. Ordered cod and chips - when it arrived, it was like the frozen cod fillet you would buy from a supermarket. Overpriced and would not recommend. Only saving grace was Happy Hour when two Expresso Martinis were £14 instead of £10 each.

if they're allowed to have a strict dress code, the clients should be allowed to eat food that's not horrible on tables that are not gross and dirty

Ordered two halloumi wraps and fries and two wines , the breaded halloumi arrived frozen , when we asked it is always served cold ! It was replaced with a panini filled with nothing but a little melted cheese . Poor value for money, beautiful building, we now know why it was so quiet despite the pub opposite being closed for refurbishment.

Food took ages, came out cold, second batch came out and wasn't that much better. Drinks range is great food was a disappointment

Went Harry's roof top bar just for drinks so cannot rate all areas.

Wish I went somewhere else to remortgage my house , overpriced… chips cost more than a wrap meal. Expected hot wrap, wrap was cold accompanied by 3 chips ! Gutted as was looking forward to eating a warm meal here !

Average at best... Sticky tables and menus and staff that just seemed unbothered. Food was meh... Wraps were pre-prepared (we can get that from Boots), served cold and soggy. Tasty, but one expects more when you pay restaurant premiums. We won't be returning in a hurry.

I mean, it's alright, nothing to write home about tho. We got the wrong food served to us, the curry came with natchos instead of poppadoms, no explanation was given, my wife ordered a burger with no bun, and they tried to serve her a chicken burger with no bun, and the food was nothing special, and the drinks were not cheap either, Weatherspoons do better food, and cheaper drink.

Wouldn’t serve us because my partner was wearing trackie bottoms. It was a Sunday morning. Very quiet inside, even though Wetherspoons is shut for refurb. Found it a little strange. And then got kicked out, because of what we were wearing. Also kicked another couple out, for wearing trackies. Obviously don’t need the money.

Wouldn't serve me and my friend because he was wearing black cargo trousers. I was wearing blue jeans and black t shirt which they were fine with. Oh well Shame really, they lost our business!

Lovely building, but acoustics need softening Any small noise bounces off the walls. Great beer though!

Really expensive drinks compared to others around town

Really nice lunch with my 2 teenage boys. Lovely food and friendly staff. We were there on a Saturday lunchtime so was not too busy.

My partners curry was served with pita bread instead of Naan bread. The chicken curry had around 8 small pieces floating in a bowl of sauce. Told the waiter about the naan bread. After checking with the chef, he said they would make one. After 25 minutes, wait, we just left.

The drinks were flat twice, because there was no gas. And the food was laughable. What a shame a beautiful building run by idiots.

Came in for some lunch and the food was perfectly cooked and didn't have to wait a long time for it. Definitely coming back!

Fancied a cooked breakfast so decided to try The Brenchley ,ordered big breakfast what a big mistake. The ash brown was cold not cooked,eggs like rubber over cooked,bacon over cooked and one breakfast we ordered never turned up will not go back your better of going to the witherspoons.

Lovely place, felt as though I was in a quality hotel

Me and my family ate here the other day i had sausage and mash what was described as cumberland sausage wheel mash and peas served in a giant Yorkshire pudding with onion gravy £12 I believe it was and my kids had sausage and chips £6 each. Well as you can see by the photo i took after i mixed the gravy cause it was patchy and all different colours because it wasn’t mixed properly but was also quite a gelatinous texture, it was most certainly not served in a giant Yorkshire, there was a thimble sized pot of peas, the mash was most definitely smash or some off brand version. The girls food came on a tiny side plate with a table spoon of sweetcorn. Don’t get me wrong I don’t mind smash and the food was ok but when your paying £50 odd for 4 meals (mrs had a hunter’s chicken that was half meat half gristle) you kind of expect better. Now if they did a kids eat for a quid type thing I wouldn’t have walked away with the negative views that i did but they are charging too much for what they are serving was what the staff members where saying to each other and im inclined to agree Save your money you’ll get better for less elsewhere.

Food good but a bit pricey. Unfortunately atmosphere spoilt by the overwhelming smell of cigarettes from the outside seating area - especially in and around the toilets. Staff are helpful but act like they would rather be anywhere else than there

Food was dreadful and came out over the space of 40 minutes to the 8 of us eating. Waiter was kind enough and even agreed he wouldnt eat it himself. Try elsewhere.

One of the best experiences I've ever had. What a fab general manager. I'm vegan, and looking at the menu my options were a burger or curry. But when I went to order they said they were very sold out. The waitress got the General manager, who came to me personally and asked what kind of foods I liked and said she'd pop to the shop to buy me whater I wanted to create me a meal! What amazing service. I was given the most amazing vegan vegetable pizza! Best experience ever, keep her!!

Quick drink visit our in the back open area space. Easy to enjoy in high summer and I didn't eat so can't comment on food or service particularly. Very nice decor and large main area. It'll be a great atmosphere but doubtless very loud. Can only rate 4 stars without eating but it looks promising

DO NOT BOOK IF YOU ARE GOING TO BALLIN BEFORE HAND!! Don't bother going hear or even booking if you have been to BALLIN next door for a Brunch. I booked a table for 13 for a hen do after attending BALLIN, I booked under the name of "XX hen" when we got to the door we were flat out refused entry. They claimed they had no record of my booking. I could make an exception if we were drunk but that was not the case. I was stone cold sober and therefor know exactly what was going on and it was basically a bunch of middle aged women, including a 70 year old, having a giggle. NOTHING MORE! I booked this in April for a table on the 1st July. It was extremely embarrassing and the hen was upset to be let down. Thankfully The Muggleton Inn were more than happy to have us.

Very large pub. Not very cosy. Probably better for the younger crowd.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. The place was empty except for no more than 6 people (not staff). When ordering food, I asked for the nut roast and was told by bar staff that it was available. I also ordered a veggie burger for my husband. After sitting for appx 10/15min bar staff came over to say actually they couldn't find the nut roat. They kept offering me burger or a free portion of chips, which I really didn't want. The vegetarian options weren't many. I declined and asked for a refund. Another member of the kitchen staff came out and again told us about the lack of food. Obviously, not speaking to each other. We got a refund and left. We used to like eating at The Brenchley but it has definitely gone down in standards over time. I won't be rushing back.

Great atmosphere at a family party

Changing my review of this place as its gone so downhill recently, the beer is bloody awful and always gives you gut rot, the bar staff are friendly enough, however, the incredibly aggressive doorman threatening us with violence last night to make us finish our drinks quick has put me off going back ever again, shame really as its a lovely building and has got great potential.

Interior decoration is fine, but my Chilli Beef with rice had no taste. It said it comes with ciabata bread. In fact, it was half a Panini cut into 2 pieces. Not worth £9.95. Very disappointing.

Drink options are reasonable but the price of food definitely isn't.

Lovely building. Airy and Clean. Breakfast was not good value. Toast burnt, half a mushroom one hash brown soggy vegetarian sausages and over cooked egg all for £7+ (+ screaming children running around - a pub isn't a playground)

Very Nice building. Standard beers and menu could be any chain pub. Food was good. Price is ok but twice that of a J.D.W, maybe that's a good thing keeps the rif raf out! 😏

Now this is a nice pub. High ceilings with numerous skylights including a large dome skylight above some fabulous horse sculpture in the centre of the main bar. There is a small room (the Oval Room?) behind the bar and a spectacular beer garden out the back. In fact the beer garden is huge. Tents and tables aplenty but the tables as you just walk out are wonderful: coloured lights and greenery abound giving it a very relaxed atmosphere. The staff were lovely and friendly. The pub was clean and tidy. The Guinness was excellent as was the London Pride.

The pub was pleasant, staff were friendly. Food was not as good....our could have been used as hockey pucks! It's our fault for not raising the matter. But compared to our old local Wetherspoons, (Pavilion in Ramsgate) I thought the quality and value for money was poor.
