Miller & Carter Steakhouse in Maidstone

Rather disappointing visit. Was looking forward to their new Sunday platter. The chicken was great however the rest of the meat was warm at best. The unlimited gravy was never topped up or offered. The crispy potatoes were not crispy. Normally good food but not this occasion.

The Sunday sharing board was delicious-especially the lamb - and Kayla our waitress was fantastic!

The food is always great, and this meal was no exception. We would also like to make a special mention of Jack, our young waiter. He is new (I think), yet was just the right amount of chatty, with helpful information on food, and remembered all his up selling lines (wines/sides/pudding). He was very polite and had a lovely respectful attitude. Well done Jack!

Absolutely mouth watering! Had a lovely meal and the service was lovely, we had a sweet lady called sarah and she made us feel soo welcome and comfortable. Can't wait to come back!!! We had a brilliant experience.

Cancelling a room at 4pm for someone doing a 7 hour journey is not great. No support and attitude was not the best

What an excellent Steak House. Served by the beautiful Lindsey who was very attentive & made sure we maintained eye contact throughout the evening. Always on hand to help & serve. Excellent food which arrived in good time. I had the 12oz Ribeye, medium rare with Pepper Corn Sauce. The steak was soft & full of flavour. Highly recommended

Comfortable friendly and helpful. We turned up without a booking at about 5.30 pm and they had a table for us. We were made to feel very welcome and Spud was great.

Antony was a blast! Very funny friendly and welcoming, a real asset to the company Food was amazing, drinks lovely fab night and experience.

Another great night here. Even better with their from £20 steak and cocktail Mon to Thursday Update: 25/10/24 Spud was a great host for us, knew their stuff when asking anything about the menu. Made our anniversary meal a delight especially with our little plate at the end of our meal.

Food was good (had the Sunday lunch share plate). Service was a bit lacking, had to ask 3 times for a drink and bill was wrongly calculated (not for the first time at this restaurant!) 3 stars given as the service was acceptable, but not as expected from a premium establishment

I live a 2 min walk up the same road, I've been in miller & carter tons of times since moving in 2 years ago and always had fantastic service, your stuff are super friendly and helpful. This evening I was served by Spud, I'm told its a nickname! 😉 Spud has always been a great server and it's great coming in after a stressful day at work to have great service with a hint of banter! Cheers! :)

Absolutely shocking service. Staff here were incredibly RUDE and indiscrete when talking amongst themselves about customers. One in particular waitresses named Spud provided us with the poorest slowest service and upon voicing our opinion with regards to her staff member with the manager we was asked to leave whilst we were retiring to our room that we had booked here also. How on earth a manager can lack such people skills is totally beyond me. Such a shame because past experiences at this M&C branch with staff such as Zoe and Sarah have been great so all in all these uneducated other members of staff have really let the side down for those that do a great job. Will never in a million years go back here. I thought it was Miller and Carter not Karen's Diner , please send your staff on a customer service course, better still sack them. I rest my case when you read the managers response to this review. as you can see not a shred of professionalism and doesn't take to kindly when you have a complaint Bless her heart , let's hope her employer conducts an investigation into her lack of customer service. And as for spud I couldn't give a monkeys how long she has worked there, if you don't provided adequate service your going to get called out on it simple 🤷‍♀️

First time using this Miller and Carter restaurant and was amazed at the quality and service, was served by Spud who looked after us superbly. Will be back soon

Awful place! The building itself is falling apart and the inside looks like an old working man’s pub. One of our family members were refused entry as he had a smart jogger and top set on with a smart coat which is over 1k. He can’t wear jeans or suit trousers as he feels very restricted due to his knee injury. I’d understand if it were a 5 star upper class restaurant but McDonald’s has more class than here. When we eventually came back once he’d been told to change we finally got our food. If I’m honest I would’ve cooked a dinner 1000x better than what we were served. The steak tasted like it was out of a packet from a supermarket, with little flavour. I felt as if we had just popped to a local pub… although I’d recommend every pub in Maidstone over this place. I’d avoid here, I wish I’d of listened to everyone telling me to keep clear of this chain.

Fabulous food in a great atmosphere!

Having been to M&C Maidstone on several occasions in the past we decided on a return visit on a Saturday afternoon. All started well with arrival being shown to table etc. choosing wine then as we were choosing our food all of a sudden the lights were dimmed so it was quite dark where we were sitting and was told this was to get reading for the evening session? Dimming the lights as 3pm isn’t evening? Anyway ordered starters which were lovely, then the steaks arrived both of us ordering ribeye one a 30 day aged the other a 50 day aged. I sent mine back as it was supposed to be cooked medium however it was well done! They happily took back to the kitchen asking if I’d like a new one bearing in mind once it was over done what more could they do? (Silly question) A new steak arrived back within minutes which was cooked as medium however it was tasteless, chewy and very disappointing. My partners steak didn’t get sent back but he had the same issue with his being tasteless, chewy and leaving half of it ( which is very unlike him!) So basically a disappointing experience for us today with food, the service was obviously okay so can’t blame the staff. Maybe a bad day in the kitchen or a dodgy batch of steaks!? We will think twice about returning or recommending as we have done in the past.

Got the butcher’s block between the two of us which was more than enough. The new chilli and onions dressing on the lettuce was great! Our server “Spud” was amazing!!! Attentive, made suggestions when we weren’t sure, made the night better! We took home half a steak for the dog with no problems. We will be back to this branch!! No need to go to Dartford!!

Our waitress daisy was amazing, she provided for all our needs and was super friendly. The food was amazing especially the beef dripping sauce.

We came here for me and my partners 2 year anniversary. It was a lovely experience. Never tatsed food so good befor. Absolutely amazing. Daisy was really good at making sure we had everything we need.

We came for a meal to celebrate many occasions happening at once within our family and we had the best time. Our waitress, Spud, was amazing!! She was so friendly and accommodating, 10/10 service The food was delicious and all came out very swiftly (there was 8 of us) Will be returning soon :)

Absolutely lovely evening here with my grandparents who are real wine and food commissioners and throughly enjoyed their meal. I had the sirloin 50 day aged steak and it was beautifully cooked exactly at a medium rare as asked. the Béarnaise Bone Marrow sauce paired with it was gorgeous too. My grandparents ordered off of the set lunch menu and it did not disappoint, again the steak was cooked to perfection, and both sauces with the steaks was beautiful. A super special mention to our server Spud who was absolutely wonderful, brilliant at giving wine recommendations to pair with the steaks. I’m so thrilled, especially this being my first experience ever coming to a Miller and Carter. Thank you so much to Spud for amazing service and thank you to the kitchen staff for such wonderful food!

Went on Saturday for a large family birthday meal, the food was very tasty and they managed well with a large table. Our waitress was Tony, she was attentive and helpful, made our visit very enjoyable.

If you don’t know where you are going it is slightly tricky finding where to enter. The restaurant is right on a roundabout and parking is tucked behind. Also it was very difficult to find a parking space at 7.30pm on a Thursday night. Restaurant is cosy & warm with nice lighting. Service was a bit haphazard, so a bit of a wait for drinks & side dish missed. But our server was lovely and she apologised for delays. The food itself was very good, fillet steak cooked to perfection. And delicious desserts. Price is what you would expect from Miller & Carter.

Just visited for Sunday lunch. Daisy was our Waitress. Haven't had a steak for a while on a Sunday but it was worth the visit. Fast and easy thank you.

My partner and I popped in here for a late lunch on Friday afternoon. Our experience was great. The food quality was excellent. The service was good. I chose a Cabernet Sauvignon red wine which I thought was fairly average but a tad expensive at £45. We didn't have starters thankfully as we were very well fed with the main course. My steak was cooked to perfection. My partner had the sea bass which she was delighted with. We both managed to fit in a mini pudding with cocktails. If you intend to go during busy times, I would recommend booking in advance.

Came for a business lunch, and had a great experience. I have a super awkward food intolerance (onions, garlic, chives etc the whole allium family) which is never on the allergen lists however Sarah our server was fantastic in general and also amazing in clarifying what I could and couldn't have and what adjustments they could make, without much fuss or making me feel super awkward and difficult. And I had no ill effects!! I’d eat here again for that alone since I have terrible experiences frequently as you can imagine 😅 Thanks Sarah!!

1/10/24 Daisy was our server. We had a group booking which diminished on the night and the staff were very accommodating allowing us to move from being spread across 2 tables so we could sit together. Food was fabulous and served together as a large table . Excellent friendly service cannot fault .

Our server Daisy was fantastic, we were a table of 8 so she had her work cut out but she went out of her way to make sure our drinks were topped up and we were not left waiting for food. She was happy, friendly, it’s hard these days to get such a caring professional waitress and we eat out all the time. The food was very good, hot tasty and cooked very well. With your restaurant chain that’s not always the case. Better meal than we have eaten for ages Very happy and it was a family birthday meal so even more important that it was so good

I am glad that you have given me this opportunity to write and review you on this platform rather than the usual Trustpilot where the world can see your review and all too often people are overtly harsh and critical over an isolated negative incident. However, my experience this night at Miller and Carter involved more than one isolated negative incident, but I shall start with what you term as "what you thought was great" and that would be the meal itself: the scallops were perfectly cooked, aromatic and delicious in whatever they were fried with. The chips were very good and the steak was considerably sized, perfectly cooked and succulent delicious and came with one of the most delicious gravies I have had for some years. Now for what you say "what we can improve on": unfortunately, nearly everything up until the point of the meal being put in front of us was fairly poor I am afraid to say. Firstly, one of my guests asked for a gin and tonic and his request was met with such aghast confusion and difficulty as if he was ordering some sort of avant-garde libation that has not yet been brought back from a newly discovered country. He arrived first at my table and greeted me with this anecdote. We then waited another 10 to 15 minutes for myself and my wife to also get served at the table for a drink but nobody came. Fortunately the bar was within a couple of metres of my table and I marched to it to obtain a drink for us. I was probably there the best part of 5 minutes before somebody came but if that wasn't bad enough, when I then asked for the drinks to be put on to my table bill, she informed me that was impossible and that I would have to get somebody to serve me at the table for that to happen, I then explained to her that the only reason why I am here at the bar was because I haven't been unable to get served and eventually told her never mind and paid cash and received my change...£1 short of what it was supposed to be. I was told, quite courteously I must add, to return to my table and she would come over to give me my missing change because she was unable to to open the till without a transaction going through at the time I believe. Back at the table, we had various people come to the table to either lay cutlery or serve complimentary bread and each seem visibly perturbed and in a rush about something (granted it was a busy night it seemed). It seemed an age before somebody finally came to take our meal order and when she did, I all but grabbed her arm and jokingly begged her to not leave us because we were finally paid attention and she was most affable. Up until that point we were determined to not leave a tip and scrutinise the bill to see if service charge was added (it turned out that it wasn't) and, for the first time in my life, refuse to pay it. But we asked our final waitress whether she was able to keep her own tips (and the chef his for that matter). At the end of the meal we tipped her and the chef and she may well have shared these with her staff members but if she did not then she would deserve every penny herself because up until that point where she served us, it was looking very poor for Miller and Carter I have to tell you. This was a birthday celebration (as I returned after last year's lunchtime birthday meal - which was great) and it left a somewhat indelible sour memory this year but maybe an evening is not the best to come catch Miller and Carter at its best

Visited on Saturday evening (28/9) for a family celebration meal. We received a friendly welcome and were shown to a great table in one of the restaurant’s cosy rooms. Spud served us. She was attentive, helpful and made sure we enjoyed our meal. The food was tasty, the right temperature and arrived quickly. The birthday message on a decorated plate was a nice touch. Overall we had a wonderful evening and will definitely be back - Thanks Spud 😉!

What a great meal with great friends and family . Could not want for a better location with ample parking

Had a couple of vouchers brought for us at Christmas as we have eaten at a miller and Carter before and enjoyed it. Saved the vouchers for a special occasion and took a 25 mile to visit this restaurant only to be told that due to a technical issue we couldn't use the vouchers. These had a total value of £90...that's been paid for at Christmas and been sitting in this companies account making interest. So I had time off work and paid for fuel to use these vouchers and could not. I emailed head office over 2 weeks ago and still had no explanation. Poor service and very disappointed from the unhelpful staff at the restaurant

Fabulous evening at Maidstone recently for an adult birthday. Food was amazing and our server Spud was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and everything was perfect. She couldn't have done more. We loved the impromptu singing of Happy Birthday too!

Got food poisoning from here. The venue was also unable to accept any gift cards, so a shambles all round.

Our waitress Spud was lovely and attentive. However the manager didn’t give us the table we asked for weeks ago - we’ve had the round table for years and years. I’d paid the £40 deposit. She did the same last time but gave in and we had the round table. Because of unfriendly attitude not just this time but in the past. We won’t be coming back. 🥹

Everything was absolutely spot on. Compliments to the chef, the wait staff and the concierge. Blistering meal, perfectly cooked steaks and entrées and you absolutely get what you pay for... Excellent meal .

The restaurant was very busy, many of the staff seemed young and inexperienced, it was evident training was going on, there were long waits for everything, which was fine with us as not on a tight schedule and staying in the hotel. The King Prawn Starter the Prawns were not cleaned well, we complained and they were swiftly returned to the kitchen, we were offered a replacement but declined the charge was removed from the bill. The Chipotle Chicken was sensational.

Absolutely lovely experience as per usual. The staff are always lovely. Food is always amazing and it’s such a comfortable setting. Daisy was making us laugh the whole night and it was my parents 30th anniversary and they even went as far to make up a plate to congratulate them. So thoughtful and kind of them to do so. Definitely recommend!

The only time I eat steak is at miller and carter, the fillet is always cooked to perfection… melts in the mouth… great meal as always, worth the money

Visited today for birthday lunch. Wonderful experience and made all the better baby our server Kirsty. This was the third visit we have been blessed to have her. Always professional, polite and no request is ever too much. Thank you Kirsty for making this special day so much better.
