The Brasserie At the Scholar in Edinburgh, City of

My wife and stayed nearby and found this hidden gem while on a walk. We arrived without a booking and had a short wait in the bar before being shown to a table. The menu is varied; I had the beef burger, which was tasty, while my wife had the pumpkin puttanesca. She loved it! The service was good, the food was tasty and the G&Ts and beer come quickly (after discovering they were out of Hendricks). We left sated, all for £50. Worth a visit!

Spotlessly clean; tasty simple food and excellent friendly service. It is slightly off the beaten track but a is a great option for those staying in this part of Edinburgh. We went there on the last day of our trip but wished we had discovered it sooner.

Nos alojamos en The Scholar por dos noches y decidimos visitar The Brasserie para un postre una noche. Desde el momento en que entramos, Kyle nos hizo sentir realmente bienvenidos. Acomodó todas nuestras peculiaridades con paciencia y una sonrisa, haciendo la experiencia aún más dulce. El postre estaba muy bien presentado y delicioso, una manera perfecta de terminar el día. El ambiente era relajado pero elegante, y el servicio realmente se destacó. Muchas gracias a Kyle y al equipo por la calidez y la atención al detalle. Sin duda volveremos la próxima vez que estemos en Edimburgo!

Comidas delicadamente construidas, servidas por personal dedicado cortés, camareros y camareras (Morvern y amigos en particular).

Excelente! O ambiente é silencioso e charmoso, apesar de estar localizado num ambiente estudantil. O atendimento é primoroso e as moças que nos atenderam foram muito gentis e amáveis.

We would have given 5points but service was very slow, maybe a kitchen problem as the waiting staff were very efficient. Kyle and Kitty were very pleasant and helpful and added to our enjoyment of the day. We were there for lunch and the Brasserie was very quiet but we heard it is busier for dinner

Very nice spot ideal for casual dining. Food is good, they serve large portions and staff is very kind and attentive. I hope I’ll be back one day!

Voor een lui diner na een reisdag in het hotel gegeten. Heerlijke Haddock (fish en chips) en Burger gegeten met een fantastische sticky Vijgencake met ijs en een matcha Tiramisu als nagerecht. Absoluut een aanrader.

We had a lovely time over lunch and breakfast and felt welcome and cared for. David the waiter in the bar was absolutely wonderful and super helpful making a special ocasión even more special. David was super friendly and made our stay in Scholar a delightful experience. He showed us the new menu and it is to be celebrated, loads of fresh tasty options served very promptly. Thanks

This a great place to have a coffee, a tea and snack. It has a great infrastructure, surrounded by trees and the staff is very friendly. We have been hosted by David, which is very professional and committed with the service.

Nos atendieron Kyle y Matt y el servicio fue fenomenal. Ofrecieron un ambiente cálido y amable y recomendaron algunos lugares increíbles localmente para nuestro viaje. También dieron grandes cócteles un montón de opciones creativas y una gran conversación. Recomendaría 100% que volveremos

Popped in for a pre-theatre meal before heading over to the Churchill Theatre. Perfect as the restaurant is set back from the main road so less hectic but an easy 5min drive away from the theatre. Matt was brilliant - he seemed to know the menu (food and cocktail!) inside out, and we even heard him recommending wines to another table so clearly knew his stuff. He was super friendly and professional without being too over the top and too intrusive. We had the fish and chips which was cooked perfectly. My mum is super fussy when it comes to fish, but she thoroughly enjoyed this one - lovely and fresh. Chips were piping hot which is always good. Would recommend anyone to try the Spring Cocktails - coconut mojito was divine! Lovely meal, amazing service, very reasonably priced. We'll be back.

The pumpkin soup was an excellent starter. The mackerel ceviche was too fishy. The lamb and salmon entrees were both excellent. The chocolate salty Carmel desert was just average. Service was very good.
