Friendly manager but unfortunately that is where the pleasantries ended. Food was cold and many items forgotten about or took a long time to arrive. The blonde waitress who served us was miserable the whole time and acted like we really put her out her way. Rolled her eyes at us, slammed glasses and plates down. We weren’t impressed. The manager helped us when we brought this up which is good but we would not recommend.

A fantastic roast dinner, nicely priced, with a good selection of drinks. We would highly recommend and look forward to returning!

Captain and Harriet were lovely waitresses. Very efficient and pleasant! The food was very nice although the veg was a little too Al dente.

Considering the extortionate prices you charge for tiny portions. I expected more from you. LWe were a big family group of 10 people. We felt your female staff member (who was possibly a manager (quite short with long brown hair tied up) was very short and annoyed with us on several occasions. We all noted her rudeness. We asked her politely to clear the plates away and she said in a rude tone- oh I walked past a moment ago and you were still eating''. Unfortunately given the poor quality of the food, tiny portions and expense involved meant this was a very very negative experience we do not wish to repeat anytime soon. When at the bar she was also 'stroppy' when my father in law asked if he had already ordered his coffee - she replied sharply no! I'd say we will stick to Dobbies garden centre next time as better quality, choice and service. Such a shame it used to be really nice.

Food was good, the lamb shank was a good size portion although the rustic thick cut chips weren’t particularly crunchy. The pudding tasty although there was very little brownie in the chocolate bomb. Nice pub location although the toilet were a bit grim.

Lovely spot to have a rare lunch treat out with family. Tastefully decorated, warm friendly ambience. Food arrived promptly and was beautifully presented. Highly recommend reservations, otherwise you are sitting in the bar area. Which there is nothing wrong with the bar area, there are maybe 5 tables in the bar to sit, then order from the bar. Food is good, atmosphere is great. Would love to visit in the summer. But during the winter, their fireplace smells amazing.

Food is nice but expensive. Service quick. Car park is a safety hazard. I have only recently passed and had to venture into the pot-holed car park with no fences around the river and trees everywhere. I busted my rear fog light on the tree when reversing as have no sensors and is literally pitch black. Very dangerous and an expensive visit. Won’t be driving there again.

Popped in for my usual Sunday pint(s) & read the papers after a long walk(Its on the Ouse valley walk, which is a tad wet at the moment), usual excellent service from Lauren,Chris , Rachel and the team, great venue with extensive menu. Lovely atmosphere, dog friendly, def worth a visit if you are in this neck of the woods either walking or passing through!

We have visited a few times, but our most recent visit was exceptional! We came with my 4 month old puppy on a Saturday evening so we planned ahead and booked a table in the dog friendly area. Despite it being so busy, the service was quick and all staff were very happy to come and say hello to my puppy every time they walked past! The food was excellent quality as usual, the whole evening was very enjoyable for all. I had the steak and Malbec pie which I have had previously and it’s always great. We also got the ribeye, pork and fish and chips. We will always come back here and hopefully always enjoy it!!

We actually had dinner here in January 2023, I forgot to write a review! Brampton Mill is a really nice place, in the summer we often go for a walk and end up here for a drink in the beer garden. On this occasion in January we had dinner with friends. The service wasn't great, I ordered the lamb and had to ask 3 times for mint sauce. The waitress wasn't rude but her attitude was somewhat stern, certainly not welcoming. My polite requests for mint sauce were definitely not appreciated. The food was ok, I say ok because the portions are small and the price is high. High prices is definitely a theme for this establishment. We stopped for a pint and a glass of wine in December 2023 after a nice walk, it was nearly £18. As I mentioned earlier, The Brampton Mill is a really nice place, we would visit it more often but for the over inflated prices.

I booked for my partners birthday meal and asked for a nice view but quite area… we arrived early and was taken to our table.. great…. Not when we got to it.. we had been put write in a corner next to an archway for dinners and staff coming backwards and forwards.. not what I call quite with a view.. very disappointed and unhappy.. to then be told.. no steak on the menu… ok so I ordered another meal to be told we don’t have that either.. REALLY…. by then I was pretty pissed off.. after a while the lady came back and I asked what they did have on the menu… to be told the steak has now arrived would u like that… so I did.. The food its self is lovely and the staff very nice… but I didn’t get what I asked for…

After having a lovely roast dinner, thought we'd give the lunchtime menu a go. Just had mains and deserts and two drinks, I ordered the cheese burger and chips which was a posher name on the menu £16:95 and the wife went for the camembert not sure on the price..... The menu is online, wife had a j20 and I had a pint of neck oil £6:95!!! My main came out, what I could describe as a kids meal..... No salad, only a tomato, and a tea cup full of skinny fries. Well..... 8/10 chips.... Wife's camembert looked nice. I didn't even get coleslaw..... Wished I'd complained on the day, but wife said to keep quiet. Finished that, then had a look at the desert menu. I went for the chocolate bomb, and the wife had the trio of cheese cakes. Mine was lovely and so was the wife's, buy your really don't get much for your money..... Highly over priced, the bill was £60! Which at £30 a head I want a lot more for my hard earned cash! Such a shame, the staff were lovely. Shall not be returning, and have told a few of my friends as they asked what was it like? Told them just to go for the Sunday lunch, and don't bother with the lunchtime menu. Highly priced, and don't get a lot for your money.....

This spot is great for a special occasion, the Camembert was especially amazing, we will definitely be revisiting with friends and family!!

A beautiful restaurant in a gorgeous setting. Brampton Mill has a cosy, but luxurious, feel to it and both the food quality and presentation match this. The service was fantastic also. Not one to miss!!

Before writing this review I read through previous reviews. As a result I came to the conclusion that the previous some reviewers had gone to another Bramton Mill or had very low standards. I met a friend for lunch on Sunday the 29th October. I have never been to the Brampton Mill previously. My first impression from the outside was that it was a charming place with bags of character I had high expectations for a pleasant visit. How my expectations were contradicted when I experienced what awaited me inside. The impression of character and charm carried through to the interior. it was very busy and the staff appeared to be rushed off their feet. We had a drink prior to taking a table of the upstairs of the restaurant. Service was adequate, staff were friendly. Food was only just about warm enough, my roast beef was £19. I thought it to be very mediocre in terms of quality and value when compared with other venues. The thing that concerned me most of all was the surfaces, tables, bar, door handles, banisters and handrails were sticky and in some instances downright gungy. The toilets needed a real deep clean. At the time of leaving my concerns were raised with the Manager who gave the impression of disinterest, he did make the right noises. and did not appear to accept responsibility and trotted out trite excuses. I did suggest a deep clean with hot soapy water, I felt it was a concept that was alien to him. To sum up the venue was dirty, sticky, in need of repainting, mediocre food, poor value for money. One word to sum up......unsavory. I invite the owner to inspect the venue to check the stickiness and toilets before they give their response to my review.

Met up with family to celebrate a birthday. We visit about once a year, Brampton Mill is a lovely old local building, retaining a lot of it's original features and it's riverside location is beautiful. We were excited to try the new menu. The new menu is very interesting with lots of unusual things to try. Whilst service was extremely polite, the young lady didn't seem au fait with the menu, neither seemed to understand the drinks menu. Nevertheless, 2 of our meals we really enjoyed, 1 of our party didn't enjoy the new 'banana blossom' and when checkback was done, was responded to with 'oh ok'. Being in a family party, we didn't want to make a fuss but was surprised it was met with such a dismissive attitude, we would have like a more senior member of staff to follow up this feedback. Overall, we were happy with the majority of what we had, and it will not deter us from returning.

Another fabulous meal at our favourite place. Visited with my partner, Grandson and our two dogs. As soon as we walked in got our usual friendly smiley welcome from the lovely Amy. She always goes out of her way to make us have the best experience. We all ordered fish and chips. Then all had a desert and drinks. All the staff are so lovely and friendly. This is a very busy restaurant on a Sunday lunch time. If you’re in no hurry…no worry! The staff are very affable and attentive. The food was considered good by my party of 7, my fish and chip were first class …..BUT the mushy peas served in a mini saucepan were cold and about a dessert spoon of mush that looked as though someone had eaten from it! All in all, a good place to dine…beware car parking is not easy and often full.

Great location & lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. Staff were friendly & professional, we were seated & served quickly. The food was lovely, good portions but maybe a little pricey, dessert £9.25 but it was a celebration & we enjoyed. The only downside was being g charged £4.70 for a bottle of mineral water.

A visit here is worth while just to see the amazingly old water mill building alone. As you might guess, it is right on the water’s edge with great views across the flood plain. It is therefore the perfect setting for a restaurant. Inside, there are various nooks, crannies and small rooms tucked away in every direction. We hadn’t booked but were led through several rooms of diners into the former residential part of the building. There are lots of what appear to be original features, which made our visit all the more interesting. The menu was not overly extensive but had plenty of choice. I went for the steak and ale pie, which importantly was a proper pie, not a casserole with pastry floating on top in a ceramic dish (yuck!). Not the greatest choice of ales so far as I could see. Veg comes separately so I would advise you read the menu properly. One note of warning, the car park is a bit tight for what is quite a large restaurant, but don’t let that put you off. Hope that is helpful.
