Having left Liverpool 20 years ago, this was my first time at this lovely, characrerful pub since I worked in the area. Setting aside the circumstances of my return - a funeral wake - this is great little pub: staff very kind, polite and helpful. Only complaint: please don't mix the veggie food on same serving dishes as meat stuff. Otherwise would have been 5 stars x

My first visit to the place and won’t be the last. Snooker, Pool & Darts all available to play. The Football & Boxing was shown on large widescreen tv’s. Atmosphere was brilliant and a mix of ages gave the place a good vibe. Quiz night was enjoyable and the place has great banter throughout and brilliant service.

Gets four stars, as against all odds in Huyton, or the borderlands of, is selling and continuing to sell a real ale. Even stranger a nice real ale, Wright's on cask. It's nice, and very reasonable at £2.25 a pint. Support the pub by going there and drinking some. It needs your support.

Went here for the first time in about ten years, oh dear. Obvious it hasn't had a lick of paint in this time, and the bogs were as bad as I remember. It could be a great pub but sadly the brewery / company who own it are letting it go to pot.

The place could do with some t.l.c. and a good scrub the managers never seem to stay long enough to get to know and the floor is uneven, so take care if not steady on your feet, the toilets are smelly and the tables are dirty, knot sure if food is sold but it does give advertisements to say they do, all though I have not seen anyone eating here.

Certainly wouldn't eat from here, but ok for a beer or two once in a while. Needs modernising in a big way! Sadly just doesn't have the atmosphere some pubs have. Busy tho when the footy is on tv

I dropped into The Brambles Pub with family and friends to watch the West Ham v Liverpool match and what a great time we had. A decent enough pub, spacious, an eye catching serving bar dominates the main room, pool tables, big screens to enjoy the sport, great decor and furnishings and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub ,its just a good old fashioned locals pub. I stayed on pints of beer from Carling Brewery, not my usual tipple, more a real ale and craft beer fan myself but this beer was ok, cut through the thirst and was great value for money. I really enjoyed my visit here ,our group stayed here for about 3 hours plus ,had a ball ,couldn't fault anything about our visit here before we moved on. The Brambles Pub is easy to locate along Cherryfield Drive in Kirkby Town Centre. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, 11am till 11pm. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.

Family of 10 Christmas Day brunch. Booked, paid and chose table well in advance (September). Place open for pre-booked food only. Arrived, it was chaos, 2 staff on who had completely lost control. Could just about squeeze through main door as the bar was chocker and queue outside. Walk in's arriving in droves who hadnt booked and taking the reserved tables including the one we booked (who turns up to an eaterie on Christmas Day without booking - senseless!!). Managed to grab another table quick and queued for an age for 1 round of drinks served in dirty glasses. Staff decided to ignore tables and serve drinks to the masses instead (including the landlady). After waiting 2 hours without being served our prebooked food we were refunded and left - starving (now dinner time 2pm at this point). Other families being treated appallingly too. Absolutely ruined our Christmas day. Landlady clearly out of her depth, arrogant and rude. We won't be visiting again - plenty of other places in the area that will be visting from now on. Pity as we were long term customers, loyalty has no recognition in this place.

Every time I go here something else has moved, the new layout makes no sense (other than the fruit and veg being moved to the front) and the staff have no idea where everything is either. At one point they had a lot of alcohol displayed at the front as you walk in, shouldn't that be in the back of the store? It's a chaotic mess and is stressful for someone who is autistic, I just want to get in and out as fast as I can because it's always super busy here and people are always in the way or push in front of you to pick up something. There was also one time when I arrived super early to avoid people and the self scanners weren't available to use, when I got to the till, the cashier didn't ask if I had a club card, and because I was so used to using the self scanners I forgot all about it, so I ended up paying the full price. Because I'm not great with any social situation, I felt awkward to mention it and just accepted it as a mistake I made, but shouldn't they ask before you pay? Or is it one of their tricks to get you to spend more money? I've also stopped bothering with meal deals (especially now that the price has gone up yet again), because a lot of the time you don't notice that the deal didn't go through until you go to pay, and when I mention it to the staff, they check it for you and say "oh this item isn't part of the deal" and when I go back to pick up something else, the item that wasn't part of the deal is displayed as part of the deal.... What?! Again, I feel like this is another trick to get you to spend more. I have noticed there is also an issue with a lot of food expiring within one or two days, such as bread, potatoes and other goods. There's no point in spending money on food that will go bad in such a short amount of time. There's always homeless people outside begging for money, but they take turns in doing so, they're never there at the same time. One has a fancy, white electric bike which is suspicious, and there's always people smoking near the entrance and clogging up the area as they wait for a taxi. In the meantime, I've been shopping at the Tesco Extra in St Helens, and it is so much more quiet and relaxing there, they have some interesting things that this Tesco doesn't have and the best by dates are way better, no idea why. Also, the staff are actually really friendly there compared to this one, they acknowledge you and say goodbye to you with a smile on their face.
