Friendly and helpful staff and excellent carvery. All at a very reasonable price.

Always a warm welcome. We didn't eat tonight but food is always good. We'll worth a visit.

Stopped at a CL campsite 5 minutes walk from this Jem of a pub, had the carvery on the Friday night absolutely very tasty, returned the following evening and was very tempted to have the carvery again but chose something of the menu still very good, very friendly staff who couldn’t do enough for us. We were celebrating the occasion of being a first time grandad.

Didn't manage to stay for food but nice serving staff and nice outdoor seated area for a drink.

Stopped to eat here on Wednesday lunch time.Been coming here for over 30 years when we come to Devon on holiday. I had read it had closed down ,which would be a shome to lose such a lovely pub and restaurant. Have to say this is the best food we've had in all the years coming here I had the fish pie which was fantastic really tasty and piping hot.The green veg which came with it was perfectly cooked. My wife had the Teriyaki salmon.This tol was excellent well cooked and tasty My granddaughter had the child's roast beef dinner.A really good sized portion for a 7 year old.l.The beef was excellent as was all the veg she had.She loved it. Would also like to mention how great all the staff were all nice and polite and welcoming. I wished we lived nearer we would be in every week.

Food was absolutely amazing, we had the carvery. Very good value for money. Staff were brilliant, friendly and polite, couldn't do enough for us. Felt like we were old friends round for a chat with food and drink thrown in. Highly recommend it.

What a lovely pub, great play area for kids, large car parking area, staff were friendly and kind. The food (carvery) was beautiful. The only downfall was only having the tiniest pointless bit off crackling. But that's not a negative to the pub and food. We will definitely be back.

The first time we visited this lovely pub. Lovely warm welcome from all members of staff. A good selection of food choices from the menu. We both decided to have the carvery. There were there choices of meat and a vast selection of freshly prepared vegetables. The gammon and turkey were cooked to perfection, as were the vegetables. A really enjoyable meal with fantastic service. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Very nice pub lunch. Tuesday the carvery was not open. The menu on offer however was really good . The food was lovely. Prices are very good value. The staff are very nice. Service was prompt, There were lots of cars in the car park but the place didn't seem crowded. Definitely a place I would use again.

Taken there by friends today. They thought the carvery was open which it was not. However, we ordered from the menu and the offering was excellent. Everything was hot, very tasty and the staff were very attentive and welcoming. The pub has real atmosphere.The puddings were delicious.The dining area was very nice and scrupulously clean. Eating out these days is not cheap but I think I would be hard pressed to cook a meal along with drinks for the 4 of us for what we were charged. Well done and many thanks.

The carvery was good, pity there wasn't any lamb though. Very limited choice for those who didn't want the carvery option. The staff were pleasant and helpful.

Great carvery and plenty of it, the food on the menu looked good........fantastic service, very attentive staff would highly recommend.

We have been to The Bowd on numerous occasions and find it to be both delicious and good value. My partner and I both went for the nut roast which has a good range of vegetables as well as the usual stuffing, Yorkshire puddings etc. Very filling. I couldn't manage a dessert although the rest of my party did and they looked really tempting. The staff were very attentive and friendly. We will definitely return. X

Had several nice evening meals at The Bowd Inn. Recently had the carvery, which is very generous. The owners and staff are very attentive, but didn't interrupt conversations - which is worth extra points in my view.

Carol was a lovely lady and very accommodating, ensuring our two dogs were comfortable to the point of bringing them a blanket to sit on. All dogs were offered a water bowl, which made us feel more at home. The food was delicious, it was seasoned and not at all bland, like you get in most places. I will definitely be visiting The Bowd Inn again and I recommend it to one and all.

It's got some lovely areas for eating from cosy little off the main bar for two and larger places for the many, good outdoor play area nice food and a great location.

Popped in on a lunch time for the carvery and can honestly say it was one of the best carveries I’ve ever had. Everything was fresh, well cooked and seasoned and proper gravy. Will definitely return. 👏

Nice little gem, open outdoor space. Tables are nicely spaced inside. The food was very nice, hot, fresh and plentiful. We had the roast dinners. Good price considering the quality. Plenty of parking. Highly recommended.

Amazing service, all staff were friendly and helpful, we were looked after really well. Food really good but I felt it would be better if you could help yourself to stuffing, one small square was a bit tight. The veg tasted ok but it looked quite dry, especially the peas, it would’ve been nice to have some parsnips. My Vanilla cheesecake was missing vanilla but the sticky toffee pudding was unreal. Nice big car park. I would go back but I wouldn’t rush back.

Had a family meal here whilst on holiday with the family. It was great, food was excellent, good choice of beers and the service was first class, particularly making sure that the children's requirements were met. If we return to the area I will certainly return.

Family wedding anniversary celebrations, very pleased with our outing, as have not visited for a few years. Recommended probably best to book on Sundays

Went on Easter Sunday and it was extremely busy but we never felt rushed at all , food was all piping hot and excellent,staff were all friendly and efficient will definitely be back well-done

First visit today at The Bowd Inn, Sunday carvery. WOW one of the best we've had. Will definitely go back. Its only about 30 miles for us, but with Sidmouth only another 2 miles away, a GREAT day out. Must try week day too.

We had a carvery lunch at the Bowd Inn and it was spectacular! The food was delicious, the carvery meat was just right, lovely roast potatoes and a good selection of vegetables. The atmosphere was really nice and the staff friendly. Would definitely recommend it.

Friendly pub to drink and dine. Our mixed party of 6 was warmly welcomed for a lunch of carvery, baguettes and steak & ale pie. Despite being a Thursday mid-Xmas holiday season, the place was buzzing and busy. Every dish was delicious and well proportioned. Despite drinks and desserts, the bill was reasonably priced at ~£18 pp.

Excellent carvery at a decent price (Dec 2023 under £16). Staff are friendly and there is no waiting for drinks or to place your order even when the establishment is full. Food is delicious and plentiful. Overall a very welcoming relaxed atmosphere.

When I went for food last week, I was extremely impressed with the helpfulness and efficiency of the Manageress/Landlady of the place last week when I arrived somewhat stressed with a unique set of circumstances. She listened and quickly directed her staff to assist making me feel like a VIP! Because of this and the lovely comfort food of the carvery plus crumble and custard, I shall return with family to eat again.

Extremely friendly team, met with smiles and nothing was too much to ask. We emailed ahead as our daughter finds eating out tricky so requested simple pasta and cheese. I had a response straight away and it was no problem. They even made a note of this request ahead of when we arrived. It made our daughter feel much more comfortable. The food was delicious and the choices on the carvery were great. My husband was very pleased with the portion size of meat he was given. Lovely pub and we will definitely keep coming back. Good food. We only wanted small plates as we don't eat a lot. We had to pay top price wasn't happy at all.. So we went somewhere else for Sunday roast. Food was very good had small plates paid £ 11.00 so Bowd Inn lost out for 3 more Sundays for 4 people we are holiday makers from Yorkshire

It was the first time that we had been there..We went for the carvery. It couldn't have been any better.

Have driven past this place many times on the way to Sidmouth and always looked busy. Decided to stop off on the way back home . Really lovely place, warm atmosphere, friendly staff and lovely food. Now I know why it aways looked busy. Will definitely be visiting again when we are down on holiday.

We fancied seabass on risotto, which wasn't available. The carvery wasn't available either. There were a couple of different dishes, that were also off the menu. My husband opted for the gammon, but wanted veg instead of chips. The waitress said the veg wasn't available, yet my Dad had shepherd's pie with veg ! I opted for a prawn salad. The salad was just a handful of rocket with cucumber and tomato. Very uninspiring.

Very dog friendly. The time arrived, it appeared everyone brought their dog... but then I think I was in a section where dogs were aloud. Food great, Otter Ale is great and good service.

Loved it, loved it loved it!! What a great experience. We both decided to try the food here and went for the carvery and have to say, it's one of the best we've had. A choice of three meats, beef, turkey and pork. The beef melted in the mouth and the turkey was juicy and flavorful. A really good choice of veg and to top it off, a Yorkie pud ( almost as good as the wife's ) ( she made me say that lol ) From the minute we walked in we felt welcome, the staff were superb and very attentive. We only wish we had found this place earlier. Highly recommended.

Very friendly welcome.....not too busy as it was shortly after the lunch time slot had started. The food was lovely my wife particularly enjoyed the cottage pie........puddings were fab as well.

We had a very good meal here. The sea bass with linguine was changed fir my husband to have new potatoes instead of linguine for my husband to make it gluten free. It was delicious. We also had a sticky toffee pudding and. Roulande which were both lovely. The service was spot on . We will be returning.

The meat portions and quality were excellent, as were most of the vegetables. Unfortunately, although tasty, the potatoes had very hard coatings and were very difficult to cut into. My Yorkshire pudding was burnt on the bottom, and it was also very difficult to cut into.

The Carvery we had on Sunday was the hottest, with the most choice of vegetables, along with the efficient and hospitable and friendly staff. All the staff were happy friendly and helpful an amazing service thank you

This place is back up and running again missed going here so will return when back in that part of the country again I'm thrilled to see life back in it again hope it will thrive once more congratulations to all

From start to finish, the whole Sunday carvery experience was absolutely fabulous. The staff were friendly and attentive, but not overly. The food was exceptional, possibly the best carvery we've ever had. Would definitely recommend, and will return when we're next in the area.

Booked into the Bowd, fairly late, for a small wedding reception, From the booking and then having the cake delivered,all the way through to us leaving after the reception ,Carole and all the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect Carole had arranged a table big enough for all of us and nicely secluded, The food was superb and arrived piping hot, the waiting staff were attentive but not overbearing ,they even helped with taking photographs.The wedding cake was on a side table with plates etc for when we were ready, All in all we cannot praise the venue highly enough, and would heartily recommend anyone to go there for good food and friendly staff and Carole ,you’re a star Thanks again for everything Best Wishes Chris & Di X

Worst pub food we’ve ever had! Fish was tasteless and very oily and the “beef pie” looked and tasted like a cow had vomited it out about a week ago. Total rip off. Wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy

Warm, friendly folks. Good food and they served us even though it was getting on for mid afternoon. Wonderful black beams Tudor interior. It looked authentic too. No theme pub. Only downer was the flies trying to land on the dinner as the front door was open, But this has happened to me in many places this summer. Damn flies everywhere this year. Really stops one from being able to chill when one's food is under Ariel attack.

The Bowd Inn is well known locally, but now has new owners. Food standards and choices are high and you will be made very welcome. Their carvery has to be experienced, but make sure to book. EASY PARKING and access. Toilets were spotless as was the cutlery and glassware. I wish it was my local!

Overall, disappointing. Stopped there to meet family before we headed in to Sidmouth. Play park was great to keep the kids happy but we were there for the food, which was bland. Curry had zero taste and the carvery lacked the rich flavours my wife was after. I had to ask the staff to calm down behind the bar because they were all rushing about which made me feel really uneasy. We also didn’t appreciate what I presume was the owner barking at one of the chef’s for some milk. But…the kids were happy, the kids meals were a good portion and the place is lovely.
