4 adults and 3 children visited for breakfast. There was no breakfast menu for the children. We were cramped on a table in the corner. It s a good job the children were well behaved as there was no room for them to move around! Two of us ordered Poached eggs and although the eggs were perfectly cooked the toast came unbuttered and was really hard to eat, as was all the toast. We all thought that the food was over priced for what it was. Our group meet every week for breakfast at different places but we found that it cost far more than any of the other places we have visited for a breakfast which was very similar to what we had. Therefore we will not return and not recommend The Bow Window to anyone.

Was looking forward to going as it had good reviews, had veggie breakfast my friend had normal breakfast first of all order was was wrong, mushrooms tasted boiled rater than fried, greasy hash browns, hard poached egg, tomato has so much black pepper on, poached egg wasn't runny and bacon very hard. Toilet wasn't present some one had been before and made a mess I cleaned toilet but still couldn't go. Shame staff were lovely. Won't be back in a hurry.

We arrived here on the 17th of April after a pretty long walk so we had an appetite. I orderd the very large breakfast and my wife ordered the Tea cake. The Tea cake was the best one she has ever eaten with delicous Jam, and Butter, along with what seemed like an endless pot of tea with fresh tea leaves. My breakfast was extremely good. I have never seen such beautifully prepared poached eggs in my life that just oozed the most delicous yoke. The sausages were beautiful as was the beans, and crispy toast. Hash browns great. The Bacon was nice but seemed to be unsmoked. The only downside I could find was that the black pudding was not great, not because of the coooking of it, but I have eaten that brand before and it does not have great flavour, (Also being a scotsman we have a refined palate for black pudding lol). The latte was so good, that I had two. The staff were extremely friendly, and helpful. This cafe / restaurant sits on the main road across from the promenade, and is tastefully decortated. I would recommend it as the best breakfast I have had in 11 years of coming here.

Rarely do I write a review but this is an exception. I visited to have breakfast with family following verbal reviews from friends. This was a excellent well cooked breakfast from a menu with ample choices for all. We choose a full English breakfast, which was very well presented, it was hot and with excellent quality products. The bacon and sausages were well cooked and the poached eggs were exceptional, perfectly cooked. The greeting and service was pleasantly welcoming, polite and was duly supported by excellent service. With coffee, and ample toast, this really was an excellent breakfast. The beautiful view across the Bay only added to the experience and sets standards for others to follow. Congratulations to management and staff. Thank you.

Saw the reviews for this place and decided to give it a visit. No reservation as it was a last minute decision. Place was buzzing so was very happy to be sat down almost immediately. ( make a reservation) . Staff were perfectly polite and attentive . Service was prompt despite the busy time. We ordered fish and chips, small and large. The small is a decent enough size for a light lunch . Was eyeing the table next to us.. mushroom strog looked amazing as did the all day breakfast as did the pie and chips. Decently priced fantastic view of the bay and delicious food. I’ll definitely be visiting again.

We were a family group visiting the area for Christmas and the moment we entered the Bay Window we all knew we’d made the right decision. Staff were bright, efficient and very welcoming and quickly seated us and took our orders for late breakfast / early brunch. I opted for the “light” breakfast which turned out to be “full” by any reckoning. Others went for sausage baps and in one case a chocolate extravaganza. All food arrived quickly, piping hot and was all superb! My “light” breakfast was one of the best I’ve ever had. Sausages were particularly tasty and the chocolate cake was as tasty as it looked. Prices were very reasonable and staff could not have been more helpful in a quiet, efficient and friendly manner. Top marks to this restaurant with its staff, fine food and superb views through the lovely bay windows across Morecambe Bay. We will definitely be back soon and I would defy anyone not to be impressed with the Bow Window restaurant!

My friends and i visited the bow window a few weeks ago and as soon as we arrived we were made to feel very unwelcome. The two women that were waiting on at the time really need a lesson in customer service because the way they spoke to our party and other customers was just shocking. We felt uncomfortable for the entire time and made to feel like they didn't want us there. Personally I think they want a certain type of clientèle. Safe to say we won't be returning as there are plenty of local cafes that would welcome our buisness!

Wife and self went there as soon as they opened at 10.30 am on a Sunday morning. We has the "small" English breakfast and that set us up for the day. The place has been completely re-modelled but still retains its cozy feel and good value for money.

It was certainly looking a lot like Christmas when three of us arrived at the Bow Window for a festive season lunch...carols and seasonal songs were playing, a nicely decorated tree with twinkling lights graced one corner and there was plenty of glitter....the scene was set!And it proved to be a thoroughly enjoyable experience - Christmas with all the trimmings!Starters were excellent - home-made soup; bacon and black pudding stack; and an appetising fishcake. Two of us tucked into generous helpings of succulent turkey for mains while the third member of the party chose the roast beef - all got an enthusiastic thumbs up.The quality of the food was excellent, offering great value for money, and the service, with very attentive and welcoming staff, was exceptional. The Bow Window can be proud of its record - as impressive as the view is from its famous bow window, far out across Morecambe Bay to the Lakeland hills.Happy Christmas!

My husband and I visited yesterday and with the weather being lovely , warm and sunny we chose to sit outside . The outside seating area was scruffy with poorly maintained planters consisting of artificial plants and real weeds. The picnic benches were also poorly maintained! I was also disappointed to be given our tea and coffee in paper cups .. Even though we were drinking outside I would have appreciated proper crockery.I also found the price of the refreshments expensive. I have sat outside many establishments in this town for refreshments and have always been offered proper crockery .... tea pot, cup, saucer, spoon....... sitting alfresco doesn’t mean you have to slum it!!! The price of the refreshments were very expensive for a bog standard instant coffee and a tea bag. Needless to say it is somewhere that we will not be returning.

Firstly the people that wrote the review titled Sat Lunch I think are totally out of order Even if they were not happy they could have been less vehement in their comments.I have visited this establishment twice in two days both within the same time as each other which was approx 12.15 pm.I was escorting my elderly aunt as we had had a trying and tiring morning viewing nursing homes. We both ordered the same both days myself two scones with cream and jam and my aunt toasted teacake along with a pot of tea and a American coffee with hot milk. Both days the food was excellent value for money ( £10.30p) and the service was as usual efficient and friendly.I didn't compare prices with other establishments because if you pay a little more it is rewarded by the outstanding clear horizon and busy promenade. Its a very busy cafe and has an excellent range of choices.I wish them well for the future

I went to the Bow Window for lunch with a friend. You cannot fault the service. I asked her rahter cheekily for poached eggs from the breakfast menu, it was not a problem. Fabulous. Soup of the day was leek and potato, tasty, but a little thin. Well worth a visit for good food and incredible views over the bay to the Lakes.

Gordon Ramsey needs to make over this cafe! Very expensive in line with competition. Atmosphere of a funeral parlour with sad music and purple black and white decor..((great place to hold a wake) polite but clueless teenagers out front who didn't think to tell us or offer a kids menu when we arrived with a child who had a jacket potato with hardly any filling my sandwich was greasey and made me feel sick all afternoon fish and chips were ok owners need to check out competition and what they are offering better for less money and we eat out a lot .or maybe they have a captive audience in bare.

Visiting the area I took my mother out for lunch to this establishment. Roadside parking outdoors dependent on seasonal traffic. Well decorated inside and beautiful views overlooking Morecambe bay. The menu had the usual favourites. For mains I went for the scampi whilst my mother went for the fish and chips. The waitress service was efficient and amiable. Very traditional crisp white tablecloths also set the scene. The food was well cooked tasty and of ample proportions. Thoroughly recommended for anyone in the area who wants to experience a good traditional café/restaurant environment

We called in on our way to the kite festival with out 1 year old son and two other couples with their one year olds. We all managed to be seated together which was great. My wife and I ordered a breakfast and a light breakfast. It was delicious very tasty and worth the money! Our son had tuna sandwiches which were packaged up after so he could take them away as he didn't finish them. This was really helpful. The drawbacks were that the table and place mats were not cleaned down before our food arrived. My wife ordered soya milk for her tea and the first jug was off so we sent it back, unfortunately the second jug of soya milk was also off. The tea was knocked off our bill but always slightly concerning when things are off. We will definitely try again as the food was lovely.

Just dropped in on the off chance of a coffee. What a pleasant surprise, lovely surroundings, white table clothes and excellent staff. The menu catered for everyone including gluten free bread. We just had a sandwich and coffee, superb food, it wasn't expensive either. Well worth a visit.

On Easter Monday the 3 of us popped in for lunch. There was a table free and I was impressed with the new decor. Two of us had the roast chicken dinner which was a good portion with perfectly cooked chicken and veg, and two roast and new potatoes. The only thing less good were the Yorkshire puddings which were stodgy. The other meal enjoyed was the scampi and chips. The staff were friendly and efficient. Happy to visit again.

A quick walk from our flat, the Bow Window is a lovely quiet atmosphere for our morning coffee. The cappuccino was particularly excellent.

Been here a couple of times in the last 2 months, each time has been lovely. The prices are competitive with other places I have visited and the portions are on the large side, not managed to fit in a pudding yet! Highly recommended food and beautiful views across the bay.

I came here for my grandad birthday and he had a nice time. The place is clean and tidy enough and service was variable depending upon who you got.It serves alcohol however only in bottles so this needs to be remembered.Menu has your usual cafe fayre and has a nice view of the bay. Fine for elderly relatives or anyone else passing for a bite.

I attended our annual Christmas celebration here. The food, staff and service were excellent. The table looked very festive with candles, crackers and decorations. We were made to feel very welcome. I would recommend The White Cross as a perfect venue for a Christmas celebration.

I love this place especially your crispy cake slices. But your hot chocolate today was not good. Didn't complain as haven't got the time but far too much cream and marshmallows in hit chocolate so there felt like no hot chocolate to drink and what was there was not hot. Go easy on cream !

I have been a number of times and really the food is the best of any cafe in Lancaster and Morecambe bar perhaps the Whaletail. The cakes and soup are always especially outstanding. A definite winner of a place
