The cafe is super cute and a lovely space to be in, very cosy for the wintery day that was out. Food was nice but nothing particularly special and in my opinion a little overpriced for what it is. Large menu and lots of variety. The cakes looks brilliant so I'd love to go back and try them!

My sister booked here as a surprise for us, as we were heading past Lenham and she found online that they sold breakfast! We’d booked for 9am, which is when it opens, but at 8.50 we were politely welcomed in and sat down in a quaint and comfy room. Service was quick and the lady serving very friendly. The food was tasty too! We hope to bed back to try out their afternoon tea very soon.

Completely gone down hill. Totally chaotic atmosphere with the owner flapping around in the kitchen barking orders at the staff (who, I should add, are incredibly friendly). No welcome when you enter. Was told I’d have to wait 20 minutes for a take away coffee. It’s a shame as used to be such a lovely cafe but it seems they cannot cope under pressure and take it out on their guests. Won’t be returning.

I’ve had 2 not very good occasions where I’ve tried to take my 2 year old daughter here for breakfast and today lunch as we live in the village - I wasn’t going to write a negative review after the last time I tried to visit as I hoped that it was a one off but I tried to get a table again today months later and I was again turned away with rudeness, and met with the same poor customer service. My first visit I wanted to get my daughter some breakfast on our fun girly morning together, having spent days in and out of hospital with her unwell I thought it would be a lovely treat but unfortunately the owner didn’t care for us as customers, I asked if we could get a table for some food and without even a hello, was told they were “too busy and we would be waiting a while” it was very early morning and I couldn’t see a customer in the entire cafe, but I said we were happy to wait, we were then again made to feel an inconvenience and in the way, being told where to sit and then when we sat down told we were blocking the way, we left without ordering anything as it was not a nice vibe at all. Today we popped in and I asked if they were still serving food, to which without a hello again I was told “no we are about to close”, there were still customers seated, and we weren’t offered a table. This was at 2:45pm. I work in hospitality myself so am always shocked when people are rude to customers but two similar experiences from the same lady is not a one off. Such a shame as the cafe looks beautiful from the outside!

Yet another lovely lunch at The Bow Window! O had a Jacket Potato with coronation chicken (my favourite) and my wife had a panini. Both piping hot, fresh and very tasty with a good coffee to go with it. Good service too despite the fact they had issues with the IT systems but this didn’t cause us any problems at all despite the fact this may have made things very stressful it didn’t show on service, timings or quality of food as they were all excellent

There is no accounting for taste in my own personal opinion. I had a Panini, it was so hard, absolutely over cooked, it was that hard I could have knocked nails in with it. It had the fattiest bacon I've ever come across. I had five mushrooms, four of them were no bigger than my little finger nail. The knife was as blunt as old Harry, a hack saw would have been more appropriate. I voiced my opinion and I may as well.been talking to a brick wall. Am I ever going to go again? Guess what.

If you Love Tea rooms & you have never visited The Bow Window then you are missing out, I visited just before lockdown started for Breakfast with my Parents, we were greeted with a warm welcome and seated in the most beautiful room overlooking the garden, our waiter came to take our order and answered every question I asked him about the menu (I can be quite fussy!) He didn't rush me at all, the Breakfast was delicious and I even ordered some of their yummy cakes to be boxed up to take home.Onto last week, The Bow Window had started doing take-aways, I had been self isolating with my Mum due to health conditions, we decided that we needed to get out the house and have a picnic in the car, so we got take-out, the food was again Amazing & The staff are so friendly, they cannot do enough for you. With parking nearby, the Bow Window cafe is located in a quaint old building, with low ceilings and little rooms. It has the added bonus of a lovely little garden out the back, which is where we chose to sit. There is a varied menu on offer here, although on the day we visited, my co-eater's first choice wasn't available; so he opted for a ham, cheese & chutney toastie, with a craft beer (a welcome choice for a cafe). I chose an impressive slice of rainbow cake, from a selection in the cake cabinet, and teamed this with a toffee fudge milkshake. I'd have preferred the milkshake to be a bit thicker, but it was pleasant enough. Sadly it didn't come with any toppings though. The cake was very spongy in texture and quite rich! The above came to £17.70 - the only thing that seemed a little steep was the toastie at £6.25.All in all, very pleasant and a safe bet if we were to find ourselves in Lenham again :-)

Despite booking a table for lunch several days beforehand we were shown to a tiny space in a back room (former scullery?). There was barely room to squeeze in one of the seats and the other chair was stuck half-way across the entrance so bumped into by everyone passing. In addition it was in direct line of the front door which seemed to be open more than closed so, on a chilly morning, added to the discomfort. We left, so cannot comment on the food.

I booked the afternoon tea for 4 via groupon, the Facebook page looks great so I was looking forward to it, but was sadly disappointed. I contacted them ahead and asked if we could bring 3 adults and two children (3&6) which they said was fine but had forgotten when we got there. The biggest thing was there was so little food, very small amount of sandwiches, shop bought scones with jam and cream and 3 canapé sized frozen shop bought desserts each (profiterole, brownie, vanilla eclair). We asked for more sandwiches (which we would pay for) and were told there was no more and not offered an alternative. We were so hungry we had to buy a slice of cake each and we were charged for a second pot of tea (£20 for 3 teas and 3 slices of cake!). No one checked on us at all throughout, the staff were all stood chatting around the counter. Staff were nice enough but seemed to really not care about us- perhaps because it was a groupon voucher?! We won’t be returning!

Visited the Bow Window today as a birthday present for my Dad. At first we thought it was lovely, nicely decorated and staff seemed nice to start with. We were served our afternoon tea which we thought was nice although filling in the sandwiches was slightly on the sparse side. Then...once we had finished, we asked for more tea (not offered) which is just a refill of hot water so beware of the second pot of tea being VERY weak. It then got worse...when we asked for a couple more sandwiches which we were told were not included in the price by the first waitress, even though every other afternoon tea we have had we have always been offered more and not even had to ask. So we said we didn’t mind paying as we were enjoying our time there, another waitress came over and said they weren’t able to make anymore sandwiches due to not having the facilities. We thought it was strange as people were still ordering food and they are a cafe, but accepted it. We sat for a further few minutes when we noticed a couple sat on the table next to us, who had come in after us and ordered once we asked for more sandwiches had just been served sandwiches. We were both shocked and annoyed that the waitress LIED! The fact we were willing to pay but told we couldn’t have them and then to see others getting served was VERY disappointing.

Had Afternoon Tea for two here today using a Groupon voucher. Lovely homemade cakes on display but unfortunately you don’t get them with the Afternoon Tea. It consisted of 8 finger sandwiches (ham and mustard, egg and cress, smoked salmon and cream cheese and cucumber), 4 cocktail sausage rolls, 2 fruit scones with cream and jam, and 6 tiny cakes that probably came from Bookers. Pleasant enough and good value for the £13.95 Groupon price but I would have been disappointed if I’d paid the full price of £30.00. Come on guys, how about some of your lovely homemade cakes!

My daughter and I had afternoon tea after having read very good reviews but our experience was not good. The seating was not good, we were put at an open window with a blast of wind blowing in. I tried to close the window to make our experience better but the window wouldn’t close. The food - a very poor choice of sandwiches which included raw salmon, cucumber, egg and ham served in hard bread. A few mini sausage rolls separated the sandwiches. The top layer of the cake stand had a few basic pastries and scones (no cream for the scones) served on a cracked plate. I’ve been treated to afternoon tea in various restaurants and hotels but I’ve never had such a disappointing experience.

I tried out the Bow Window coffee shop for the first time this morning having moved recently into the area. It is a lovely venue with a good variety of food and drinks on the menu. I was welcomed warmly by Sarah and chose a flat white, slice of cake and a milkshake- all were excellent and served quickly. They also have beautiful garden at the back of the coffee shop which was a nice surprise and a perfect space to sit and spend a Sunday morning.

We had this bought for us via wowcher as a gift. We were not dissappoint the room is light and airy with a mixture of seats and tables, with easy chairs and a sofa too. Slightly Georgian style with shabby chic touch. The staff are welcoming and very attentive. The afternoon Tea was a combination of finger sandwiches, ham with mustard, cucumber, salmon and cream cheese, sausage rolls served slightly warm, cakes were scones with jam and cream and finger size cream cakes. All served with a drink of your choice, they also hold a license so if you want a glass of fizz you can. We enjoyed every mouthful the tea was a good quality and we had an extra pot which they did not charge us for, the food was just enough and delicious. We will diffently return I can’t wait to try the fish finger sandwich which looked heavenly. The Bow Window is truly worth a visit it’s a little gem of Lenham, well done to all we really enjoyed our visit and we will see you soon

After walking 16km along the North Downs Way in the heat, it was very pleasant indeed to arrive at Lemham and to find the Bow Window Cafe. Very pleasant service and rather good cake!

My 4 year old daughter and I enjoyed an Afternoon Tea here today (My Father’s Day gift). The food was perfect, the setting and decor very nice and most importantly The staff were very friendly and attentive towards us both and nothing was too much trouble. The staff interacted with my daughter and made her feel very welcome. We’ll be visiting again for sure and I couldn’t recommend it enough - Well Done “The Bow Window”

Have been to the bow window several times now....and love it!! Staff are always very friendly and accommodating (especially when you want an obscene amount of butter on your toast). Great coffee, bacon sandwiches with the thickest softest bread ever and cakes are super yummy, the salted caramel brownie is soooo good! Can't wait to come back

Myself and my mum went for afternoon tea and we had a lovely time. We looked on their website to see what the afternoon included and the price. Their website stated £15 per person. When it came to paying, we were asked to pay £21.95 per person! When I questioned the price difference, I was just dismissed with ‘our website is out of date, it needs updating’. We begrudgingly paid the almost £7 difference, this really put a dampener on our experience. I have written a letter to the manger outlining our experience and have had no response. The price for the afternoon tea on their website is a complete misrepresentation and it is not fair for them to expect people to pay the £6.95 difference when their website states differently. We will not be returning.

From start to finish I couldn’t have asked for more. The tapas was amazing, service exemplary and the staff friendly and polite. Very reasonable price in a picturesque setting. If you want class and something a bit different for an event with a wow factor look no further. Thank you so much

A group of six of us went to the Fox and Hound for Sunday lunch. I have never been before and found the decor and atmosphere very pleasant. The roast chicken I had was very tasty and the staff attentive. The only thing that let the overall visit down was the toilet facilities, they are old and dirty and could do with some updating.

We only stopped by for a few drinks, so didn't eat here. Nice experience with decent fellow visitors. The pub is comfortable and clean with friendly staff. We will visit again!

Centrally located in town centre. Nice server, helpful too when ingredients queried. Service quite slow but the fayre is fresh and beautifully presented. Prices are quite steep imho.

Excellent personable service that was attentive without being rushed. All the food was well presented and clearly the cook knew his or her business. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch in an ambience where conversation was easy. The upstairs toilet were well kept with an accessible option a ground level. The sweets and coffees were just right.
