The Boundry in Peterborough

Went here for the first time today and will definitely be back. The cod was fresh and so tasty with a light crispy batter. The chips were possibly the best I’ve had, not overcooked or reheated as I’ve had in other restaurants. A bonus was we could have extra complimentary chips as we made our way through the meal. The place was spotlessly clean and the flower baskets at the front and the lovely garden at the back with rows of begonias were beautiful, all well tended, and a credit to the gardener. Our waitress was polite and efficient and very attentive. All in all a lovely lunch ….. absolutely no complaints

We wondered whether the place had changed ownership, as we were rather disappointed with our visit. We have eaten here before and loved it. The place did not feel clean. The tables, table mats, everything seemed sticky. Also, perhaps because the door between the restaurant and adjoining Fish & Chip Shop was open all the time (previously used to be closed) there was a very strong greasy smell. The ceiling looked dirty. My husband is hard of hearing and wears hearing aids, and the noise from the radio station being played through the overhead speakers was irritating. Also disappointed with the meal itself as the fish was very hot but the chips were at best luke warm. The lady serving was lovely, but I dislike being directed by someone that there is an "option to add a tip" on the screen when making payment. Presumably this is because they have gone cashless. Would recommend that the place has a deep clean and/or changes its table cleaning product if that is what is causing the unpleasant stickiness.

We have been visiting this establishment for over 30 years. Always had a great experience. However, yesterday was different. The fish to batter ratio was disproportionate. There was nearly more batter than fish. Also, everything tasted bland. The only good thing was everything was piping hot.

A wonderful fish and chip meal , so fresh and cooked to perfection, side salad added to compliment the dish , many fish varieties to choose from and excellent spotlessly clean fish and chip restaurant of high quality

My wife and I visited the Riverside on Friday arriving at 1.00 pm it took over 15 minutes before the order was taken and another 45 minutes before we received our food we ordered regular cod and a salad my wife's cod was 75% Batter my cod the batter was very solid and I had only 11 lukewarm chips I we have a loyalty card been visiting this shop for several years and I regret to say it will be my last worst fish and chips ever We did report to staff and was told the business had recently changed hands and I regret to say it showed

Visited today not been for years ! But thought as back in the area it would be rude not to. Awesome as I remember it, great chips. Well worth the hop across the villages ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

16 of us had lunch in the garden, as we had 2 dogs. Garden was really lovely! Great service, food was delicious. We all really enjoyed our food. Very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely return!

The burgers were very good, throughly impressed. Couldn’t ask for more as even the burgers buns were toasted and sauce actually in the burger not in a sachet. The chicken nuggets and battered sausage were nice. Some chips were soggy but overall tasted good. The consistency of the gravy was up to par. Overall we would rate this a 3.5 out of 10 but this is not possible on trip advisor. Shout out to Jenna and Rhys on the front what hero’s 👍

I ordered a haddock in light batter and a salad and was asked if I wanted the skin removed which I accepted. The plate turned up with some chips and a miniscule piece of fish with the salad in a side bowl. The sever said she felt she had to put some chips on the plate. I could understand why as the fish would have looked lost on the plate by itself. She then fetched the manager, I believe, who justified the size of the fish by explaining that some of the staff are not very competent at removing the skin and remove a lot of the fllet with it and that was all that was left of it. I tried to point out that it wasn't an acceptable portion but she wouldn't change it and as I was with my son, who has autism, and was getting stressed by the situation had to let it go. However my son had battered sausage and chips with a side of onion rings and he noted that his portion of chips was really small compared to what you get from their takeaway section. I was charged nearly £17 for a meal that even a five year old would have walked away from saying they were still hungry. THEY SHOULD NOT OFFER SOMETHING THEY HAVEN'T GOT THE SKILL TO PROVIDE AND WHEN IT GOES WRONG THE CUSTOMER SHOULD NOT BE TAKING THE COST OF THEIR LACK OF SKILL. WE WON'T EAT THERE AGAIN!

Good fish and nice batter. Chips not so good, a fair few were a bit grey. Potatoes not so good this year everywhere. Good portion for the price but I would rather pay a bit more for bigger fish.

The Boundary is a well established fish bar offering superb tasing food at a reasonable price. The staff are always pleasant and nothing is ever too much trouble, no matter how busy they are. Portion sizes are very generous too. All in all this is a lovely place whether you're taking away or eating in.

First time eating in the restaurant and we were impressed. I have enjoyed take aways at my parents home in the past but we chose to eat in the restaurant and were not disappointed. Fabulous chunky chips, crispy batter on tender white cod and of course mushy peas. Generous portions too. We even managed a great dessert too.

Went for a meal tonight, first time there, partner had cod I had a veggie burger. Both meals were great, partners fish huge! lovely coffee, friendly staff, will deffo be going again :)

Been here before with family and has always been nice. This time just the two of us shared chips with fish and scampi. Was beautiful. Chips could have been a bit hotter but on the whole a very filling and tasty lunch. Staff were delightful. See you again whilst we are visiting family.

We visited The Boundary yesterday, as a family of 20. The food and service was excellent! We had several different meals all served very hot and delicious! We would like to thank Ellie and her helper (sorry we didn’t ask your name) for their friendly and efficient service. We will be back.

Having been coming to the boundary Fish and Chip shop in Deeping for many years and normally the food is top notch. However tonight’s fish was the worst ever . ( take away and eat in car) I sent the first fish back as it was cold and it was replaced with hotter fish but again very poor. Are they trying another batter or buying fish from a new supplier? I would be interested if anyone else has had the same experience. Todays date is Friday 21st October.

We've eaten here on and off for years and The Boundary keeps up a high standard. Tonight's regular cod and chips were cooked to perfection with crisp, flaky batter and very flavoursome fish, dry, firm chips and service with a smile. It's how fish and chips should always be but often aren't, unfortunately. The Boundary has a lovely restaurant looking out onto its own riverside garden and it's lovely to sit outside and dine on sunny days. Many thanks to Bill and his excellent staff.

We have been frequenting the Boundary for many years and have always enjoyed the experience, however, on this occasion we were left quite unhappy. The staff were friendly as always and the food up to it's usual high standard. Our problem was the price. I know it's been tough for companies these last couple of years and more recently costs have risen but the rise in prices seems high compared to similar eateries. For example a fish and chip shop we use in Skegness, which offers a comparable size and quality cod and chips, charges £6.40 as apposed to over £15 here. It's partly our fault as we never look at the menu and just order 'cod and chips' so we never saw the price until we got the bill otherwise it wouldn't have been such a shock.

Ordered a 3 chicken strip with chips......what I got was TRUELY awful.....the chips were really scrappy....and as for the chicken,I use that term loosely....two were extremely tough and stringy......and the last one...was like it had been found in the frier,3 days after it was last...

Takeaway or eat in this is the best fish and chip shop you will ever eat in. We are spoiled in Market Deeping with two national award winning f&c; shops. But the boundary wins IMHO.
