Really tasty menu choices. We had the smokey Joe toasties with extra chips. Sausage on the side for the dog ( allowed at the back patio area). I had wanted the halloumi sourdough but that’s a breakfast choice ( we were there for lunch) so we’ll be back! Great friendly service once ordered and paid at the till. Cakes for pudding which were delicious. Fab atmosphere and although really busy felt spacious and plenty room. Definitely worth a visit.

Landed the ship just outside the bay, disguised and hidden I made my way to the local cafe for supplies and sustenance. Staff were extremely friendly, knowledgeable in their food nutrition for my little colleague who’s dairy free. Very surprised at the latte art which was made using oat milk, no easy feat. Food was delicious and fulfilling, atmosphere was calming despite the chaotic parking outside.

Our first visit to Bothy. We actually tried to get into the cafe at Ballintoy Harbour but couldn’t get parked, so we noticed Bothy and lots of cars there - after all, a busy place means it is good! So glad we went. We were up North Coast for 3 days and visited here twice. First time we just had cuppa and traybakes. One was strawberry shortcake and other snickers slice. Wow, so good! Today we visited before heading home and had soup. It was the tastiest soup I’ve had - sweet potato and red pepper. And we shared a rhubarb shortcake. Delicious!

Our vintage club based in Coleraine thought it would be nice to have a run to the Bothy, Whitepark Bay for a pizza night and would give them advanced notice. So two weeks ago (3rd July) I rang to book and ended up speaking to Holly who said she was the manager. She explained that that there was already a party of thirty booked in but they could should be able to accommodate us. I suggested that she pencil us in and she agreed. Then she said "Oh, I'll just book you in now". I said That's great and she replied "That's you booked in!". So you can imagine my surprise when twelve of us turned up and the young waitress told us that we were not booked! I asked to speak to Holly but although she was there she did not appear. Instead some nasty little man who said he was the owner, came out and said that I had not confirmed. I explained that I had confirmed with Holly two weeks ago, but all he could say was that people make mistakes. I told him that it was not our mistake because I had rang Holly from our Chairman's office and he had heard the whole conversation. There was no apology, they were neither helpful or accommodating, Holly needs to get her act together and the owner needs to get some people skills.

Busy on a Bank Holiday, but the wait was worthwhile. There’s an attractive casual seating area at the back, and our breakfasts were excellent. Bothy soda for me, excellent combo of bacon, cheese, egg; granola that looked inviting for my companion.

I visited this morning and explained my food allergies. I was advised that there could no guarantee of food free from my allergens. I then asked if the chef could ensure that utensils used to prepare my food had not touched anything else, as one would expect from a kitchen of good standard. When I was being given my take-away food I was told off for upsetting the chef who works really hard.So shocked and upset that I didn’t even notice my coffee had milk in it, despite me saying ‘no thank you’ twice. Rest assured Bothy will not be getting any more of my hard earned cash.

You know the way a bacon butty is just hit n miss...it can be made up of pale thick fatty poor quality bacon...no such thing here! Brioche bun was fresh and sweet and perfectly complemented with pile of smoky high quality rashers. Their little pot of homemade chutney was the perfect addition. The food here is quite simply what food should be. They deserve every success and to continue to be supported from far and wide....oh and do NOT leave without their signature cinnamon buns...PHENOMENAL!!

Called in for breakfast and was really looking forward to it however the only option of egg is poached which I personally don’t like. I asked if I could get scrambled eggs and was looked at blankly and told there was no other option than poached. My husband got the poached eggs and when you only offer that option they need to be on point. They weren’t. They both were hard in the middle.maybe instead of trying to offer something you aren’t perfecting try and offer a couple of options. Won’t be back....there are just as nice places in Bushmills who are much more flexible in the offerings and put the customer first.

This review is about coffee. Not cakes or bakes, just coffee. I love coffee and there's an awful lot of horrid coffee out there. They roast their own at the Bothy, which shows proper dedication to the product. I enjoyed the cup I drank there, so I bought some beans to take home. The coffee is absolutely great for home consumption too! If you like good coffee, you'll need to buy some here. Satisfaction guaranteed.

One of my fav's and not just cause I got married here!!! Such a cosy spot especially in winter when the fire is lit, but equally in the summer months sitting out the back, surrounded by plants and quirky seating. Great wee spot loved by tourists travelling between the Giants Causeway and Ballintoy, and also locals. Favorites are a London dog, and pizzas!!

Completely inflexible with food allergies and intolerances as other reviewers have identified. Not interested in helping in any way at all - wouldn’t even prepare a salad with cheddar cheese as apposed to goats cheese, which you have to admit isn’t to everyone’s liking. Said all meals were pre made and couldn’t be altered - a salad? Place wasn’t busy, maybe only 1/3 tables taken. For bakers, the bread wasn’t anything special at all, far better down the road at Ursa Minor who do provide beautiful fresh hand cut sour dough and daily fresh ingredients, willing to accommodate customers with dietary problems as a matter of course. A few packets of bought-in tray bakes, that are sold everywhere else, and in a cafe owned by bakers, doesn’t really cut it. No effort whatsoever. The attitude of staff, who couldn’t care less, would leave me to say, don’t bother going. Over rated, over priced, inflexible and unfriendly. Nice views though, if you can put up with the rest and as other reviewers have stated, you don’t have a dietary issue, request or preference.

Passing so decided to drop in for a coffee. Sat out in the back seating area which is completely open to farmland behind and so when no one is around, rodents and insects can easily access this area. It's also used for cooking pizzas with some external fridge freezers for storage. Staff had food on the floor as they were loading it into the freezers (I thought all bread was fresh but apparently not, it's all frozen) and thought there was absolutely nothing wrong with that, clearly an environmental health issue. Looked around and generally felt the whole place was quite grotty, no clean surfaces anywhere. Staff looked unkempt and didn't really seem to care, they were more interested in chatting to their friends than serving customers, some looked like they'd just pulled themselves from bed. Possibly the worst experience was when I visited the toilet (see photos) on the way out and was horrified - if anyone, including children, touched any of the surfaces they would stand a high chance of becoming very ill. Old wet tissues behind the sink covered in mould which must have been there for days. I don't think the staff have a separate toilet, no hand-wash in either toilet so I'm guessing staff aren't washing their hands after using the toilets, customers definitely aren't able to. I had to leave without being able to use the facilities. Struck me, if this is what they're happy for the public to see, what on earth are the kitchens like? It was a quieter day, mid morning, mid week, so no excuse for it.

We had been told about this place at our guest house. Apparently owned by Mr and Mrs McArthur who have such a good reputation as fine people and good bakers. The furniture is old fashioned, like it was bought at a series of second hand sales. It would look silly if half the furniture was modern with tablecloths but it is very effective with everything from an earlier era. The word "rustic" appears in another review and describes it well. Orders are placed at a counter where we got a young lady for whom nothing is too much trouble. She explained what everything contained and when we had made our choice she wrote it all down and read it all back to make sure all was correct. We found a seat and waitresses brought all the food. It was well cooked, tasty and made the whole place well worth coming back to. In the back room pizzas are made in full view of customers so clearly The Bothy has nothing to hide.

The Bothy is in a great location and serves a good selection of scones, sandwiches and savouries in a hatch-potch of a building. However the service can be very slow and some customers actually left before their drinks were brought to the table! Not sure if the slow service is lack of staff or some other inefficiency in drinks preparation area. The other niggle is that there are only two toilets which is totally inadequate for a busy cafe / restaurant.

I had lunch here with a family member. Before I say anymore, the raspberry and white chocolate scone was the best. But, and there is a but, my club sandwich was unpleasant. Damp and slimy inside with soggy, cold bacon. I later saw that it had been assembled some time previously and was just toasted on the outside after being ordered: no freshly cooked bacon, no bread toasted on both sides, no fresh salad ( the salad and tomato should not have been toasted). Overall, the freshly baked goods were outstanding but the sandwich was unloved and generally the cafe was struggling a bit with clearing plates. Sadly, they use single use plastic cups for water which seems very sad for a modern, coastal, on trend cafe. I just picked up one of those cups from the beach the day before.

My husband had a beautiful goats cheese and poached pear salad and I had a smokey joe melt. I felt the portion was small and it didn't fill me. Too expensive at £6.50 for what I got. The traybakes were gorgeous, the coffee way too strong and I like strong coffee! Our toddler had a kids sandwich and a juice carton. Lunch cost approx £30. Too much for what we got I felt. There were no homemade biscuits - shortbread etc, which was very disappointing. We were offered a packet of 2 gluten free “shortbread” biscuits which we took. I had a decaf coffee the other took normal coffee. The biscuits tasted awful, not in the least like shortbread and were as hard as iron. I thought the coffee was far too strong which made it taste bitter. I had to use so much milk to make it palatable it was then luke warm. The establishment itself was nicely decorated and set out but I think a thought for those of us that don’t like to munch on tray-bakes or cake mid morning, when a home made biscuit would be nice, not those commercial dog biscuit type offerings.

Terrific for tourists and well situated on the Causeway Coast but less attractive to local like us who know the local eateries well.

View from the side room is fantastic! Breakfast was lovely (if a little expensive). Lovely treat! Would recommend the poached eggs on sour dough with avocado!

Mmmm knew this little building as the petrol station beside McCurdys potatoes for years never ventured near it until today . Myself and my partner arrived at 230pm starving , sandwiches in display cabinet were imaginative we went for the chicken / cranberry and Brie with tea and flat white we were given a table number a syrup tin with a wooden spoon in ( i thought was a nice touch my partner thought it just looked dirty ) my partner asked for soup , apologies were given they had ran out . So sandwiches it was . Food arrived quickly with a small garnish , tasted fine , however £18.20 was steep , I think the bothy is mostly aimed at the tourist, not the locals . . The French rooms was closed , we didn't want greasy spoon , so we gave it a bash the use of space and the ex school chairs / drums for tables in the courtyard were lovely touches . Although I think it was overpriced my partner said if that pizza oven wax on , it would be a nice place to sit for dinner an evening with the kids - we ll see

Visited with friends whilst on holiday in the area. Very busy on a dull day but queue went down failrly quickly. A simple sandwich was huge and came with salad so good value for money. Lovely outside space at the back which is sheltered.

Was recommended to try The Bothy. Very popular destination for tourists and locals on the Causeway route. Menu limited and stock had run out on sandwich fillings (no ham) and hot options when we arrived. Tray bake selection good. Cafe decor and staff warm and friendly and great view over the road to the water. The Bothy burger good and worth a try.

The buildings occupied by this small cafe used to house the only place that cars could get fueled up along the scenic Causeway Coast between Bushmills and Ballycastle. Judging by the near constantly filled state of its expanded parking area, the replacement seems to be popular with locals as well as tourists though they now must drive significantly more miles to a gas station. Fresh baked scones with butter and home made jam are a big hit with many, especially first thing in the morning, though I found them a bit more like sweet cake than the traditional more savory bread. They go well with coffee. The staff, predominantly young adults from the hinterland, are charming and efficient. One, who relocated from Georgia, USA to this spot had especially interesting observations about the differences between opposite sides of the Atlantic. Pizza is also served along with a selection of other dishes. The menu here isn't comprehensive but its well grounded in local favorites that will likely appeal to coffee house habitues as well as others with heartier appetites. Not open on Sundays.

Nice little cafe off the road. Very good pastries and friendly staff. We arrived just at closing time (5PM), but still accepted to serve us coffees and cappucinos. There is a pizza oven in the courtyard at the back of the seating room. Will definitely try it next time I am around.

Visited for Thursday Night Pizza Night. The wood fired pizza was good. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Sitting on the front porch you have a great view of the water. I have had good coffee here as well as pastries. No alcohol but the food and vibe makes up for it.

I’m glad to see ‘The Bothy’ is now advertising Vegan options. I have not returned since my first visit with my husband last year. We planned to lunch there and when I asked about what Vegan options were available the female server looked puzzled and said, ‘we could make up a salad’. Fair enough, usual response - it was when ‘dust’ and a laugh were offered up on the ingredients I found it quite unbecoming. I know this was meant in jest but wondered if coeliacs were treated with the same joviality, or perhaps those that are lactose intolerant? The food was overpriced and when my salad arrived it had rocket, onion, tomato, oranges and tinned sweet corn - not to mention a hefty price tag. Lovely setting but overpriced, at that time anyway. This Vegan won’t be giving them another visit but I’m glad to know dust is no longer considered a Vegan option.

Suggestion to the management, please provide good training to your staff on how to treat customers. Not sure it is problem with specific person working at this location but me and my friend were ignored consistently like we does not exist. After waiting for ~20 mins we returned without buying any drinks. Bar tender knew we were next in line but he kept serving others. Is it because we are not locals? Or because of our country of origin? Hope this does not happen to other Asians
