The Boot Inn in Warwick

Writing this review on the way having just left as felt compelled to share and provide feedback on a very poor Sunday lunch. The experience was poor from outset, seated at the little table by the door to the restaurant, Could barely get in to the pew seat and I’m only little, but cosy enough I suppose once you manage to get in. Waited a long time to order, tried to get the attention of the young lad serving the table behind us and politely called out excuse me twice but got ignored. We went up to the bar to order and they sent someone over straight away. Only at this point did we discover the pork had ran out which was what my partner wanted to order and no cauliflower cheese which we also wanted. Ordered two beef roasts, and drinks. The food came quite quickly to be fair however we still hadn’t got our drinks when our food arrived. Long delay after requesting condiments until we received them, half way in to the meal and this included the salt and pepper. You got to have salt with beef! The main problem was the meal itself. Have no problem paying £22 for a beef roast if it is a good roast however the portion was so poor we left feeling quite frankly ripped off and hungry! The meal consisted of 4 small roast potatoes (so 2 total potatoes cut in half), 2 long pieces of carrot, Yorkshire pud (which credit where it is due was large and nice - couldn’t fault that) , a dash of gravy and ‘seasonal veg’ consisting of peas with a few small pieces of leek. This is not seasonal and is just the cheap option. What happened to proper veg!? Good old broccoli, cauliflower cabbage and a decent proper portion of carrots!? My meal was very dry but I did not want to ask for any more gravy as it had took 3 attempts to get a working salt mill to the table which the waitress told me was working and demonstrated this by pouring a very tiny amount of salt in to her hand. I had tried this moments before and it hadn’t worked. Overall we spent just shy of £50 for a very poor Sunday lunch and sadly won’t be coming back. It’s such a shame as we used to love it here but this was our first visit in quite a long time and we were so disappointed. 10% service charge is now added on to all tables as well not just tables over 6.

What a super venue to meet and dine! We enjoyed meeting up with family at The Boot Inn this afternoon. We booked a table for seven on-line the evening before and the place was tastefully decorated yet homely (fresh flowers/plants on every table); the staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive; our meal order arrived swiftly and the food was delicious and well-presented; ths service was really good but not too invasive. Thank you to everyone who served us and for making our family get-together such a happy occasion! I could highly recommend The Boot Inn!

Went last night for an anniversary meal. Wasn't cheap, but nothing is anymore, especially a meal of this quality. I gave it a 5 on the food alone. I hope it isn't a year before we go again!

I’ve been to The Boot for lunch several times in the last 2 years and the food and service has always been good. Today I had the worst battered haddock and chips that I’ve ever experienced in the world, and that’s saying something! The batter was soggy and the fish must have been cooked in batter that had had garlic in it because to top the strong taste of the fish, there was a heavy taste of garlic as well. The crushed peas were very strong tasting, again not what I would normally expect, and the chips were dry. Had I not been in a group I would have sent the meal back but didn’t want to embarrass my companions so I just quietly left most of it. The Boot has now dropped from being one of my favourite eating places in the area to one to avoid, especially as I’ve felt nauseated for the rest of the day.

We hired a tepee in the garden , the staff were attentive and friendly the food was delicious it was a brilliant afternoon made even better by the location thank you all at the Boot

We went here with high expectations and were not disappointed. The staff were friendly and professional. The Boot has a good vibe and ambiance. I enjoyed the pork cutlet my wife enjoyed chicken schnitzel. We shared a starter of Japanese chicken and a rhubarb and apple crumble with custard for desert. We both had preprandial cocktails followed by a bottle of Pinot Grigio Blush. All in all it came to £115

I visited with a large group of American travellers in mid-July and the service and food at the pub was excellent and worthy of recommendation to fellow group organisers or to anyone just looking for a nice place for lunch. Kathy, who dealt with all the email enquiries beforehand was superb in ensuring the large group booking went smoothly, that allergies and dietary requirements were dealt with, and Abigail and Anna were absolutely brilliant on the day ensuring a swift and friendly service. A massive thank you to each of you. The food was excellent. I had chicken kebab to start followed by fish, and both courses were perfection. Others had chicken, roast beef and vegetarian main course options and I only heard good reviews from my guests. The pub has a really nice, traditional decor with a modern theme and in addition to the large room we used there is a covered patio with fur covered seats which also offers a really nice place to eat. Only a few minutes from Baddesley Clinton and Packwood, so a great place for lunch if you are visiting either.

We have just had a very nice Sunday lunch today, there were 3 of us, we had starters then the traditional roast beef and roast pork. All of which were delicious, we were too full for deserts. Good service too.

Wednesday lunch for 4. Exceptional dining experience and first class seating location in the large conservatory on a glorious sunny day. Fixed priced menu was very good value with quality ingredients and sizeable portions. Four 2 course lunches, drinks and coffees £100. Happy dinners we will return.

I was seriously impressed with The Boot! A warm, cosy, comfortable place, with a wonderful ambience. Top notch, friendly, efficient service, way beyond what I expected. The food was great, cooked and presented perfectly, and very tasty indeed. Highly recomendable! Looking forward to coming back.

Took my wife here today for her Birthday. Great food and friendly service. Would definitely go again. Prices are fair for the service and food and, the nice location. My son came when he's five and the staff interacted with him and made him feel welcome talking to him about his food and what he likes. Highly Recommend a visit if you are looking for a nice little cozy place to eat.

This was an ideal spot to catch up with an old friend and we really enjoyed the lunch deal. We had different starters and enjoyed the fish cakes and exemplary service was provided by Ashley. Highly recommended.

Went to The Boot last December and accepted the slow service was due to Christmas pressure and resulted in us being a lot later finishing and leaving than we had planned. However, back again last month with restaurant at 60% capacity and we waited an hour for our starters to arrive. Usual apologies, but yet again delayed our evening and it is a pity because the food, if a little cold when it finally arrives, is very good. Question now is, is it actually worth the wait and if this is going to be the norm, then is it acceptable?? We are returning soon with another group and will probably adopt a 3 strikes policy - so watch this space!!

The Boot Inn Lapworth - a lovely pub by name and nature. We thought we were going to an old favourite close to the National Trust property at Baddesley Clinton but by luck mistake we had booked a table at The Boot Inn by mistake. Well - what a find! A warm cosy pub atmosphere downstairs and a fine dining experience on the first floor. Full marks to manager Josh T for looking after us so well. He seemed to be able to serve a dozen tables or more with no trouble at all. The various menus had something for everyone - a set menu with choices at a very reasonable price, snack menu, specials menu, main menu and an impressive wine list. Out choices were so well presented and beyond expectations. This is one of three really great pubs in the same area - all open on Tuesdays which is rare anywhere these days. Lots of good walking country and a second National Trust property closeby. We will be back very soon with our wives.

Excellent food and wine. All our courses were prepared with care, attention & tasted amazing. Service was good however downside was we were asked to many times is we wanted another drink and then when we did order one it never arrived.

it was monday, but even so. I have been dining every few moths at the boot in lapworth for 30 years or more. I have never known it so quiet. there was absolutely no buzz. but even without a house full of customers, the service was slow. we had to collar a waitress as she served another table before we could even order a drink. the food was not very interesting. the prawns appeared to be pre cooked and dumped into some flavoured oil. the scallops were fine but accompanied by some very dry bacon bits that looked as though they had been around for a while! the ragout was very boring served without any sort of garnish although it tasted ok. the lamb however looked lovely. it is a shame that it turned out to be tough and dry. it was all such a disappointment, especially as my previous visits have generally been so good. I don't think I shall be going again any time soon.

Standard carvery fare at posh pub prices. Really not worth the trip out. N.B. The stuff you sell as extra crackling is puffed pork rind like you'd get in a bag of scratchings, not crackling in the traditional roast pork Sunday dinner sense. Coke is a carbonated beverage, so neither the diet coke I was given first in error, nor the pan-flat coke it was replaced with were acceptable.

We were held up in traffic for over an hour and arrived just as the kitchen was closing BUT- we were welcomed, seated and served a lovely meal! The pork chop was perfect and sticky toffee pudding perfect. We will definitely be back. What a treasure!! We live in North Yorkshire so it’s not on our doorstep but we would travel for a meal here!!

The Staff accommodated us for in unscheduled meal on a busy Friday night which they didn’t have to do. Plenty of space, didn’t feel rushed and food and drinks were great. Even the dog was relaxed!

All the staff are friendly. Food outstanding and cooked to perfection. Didn't think I would enjoy it as much in the bar area as the pretty conservatory surroundings we sat at n the summer but the food is so good how could you not. Can't wait to return 9th December for my husbands birthday lunch. Oh and Dog friendly

I could not fault the food or service and would go back without hesitation. The lamb chops are the best starter I have had in a very long time.

I had to write something about this place. I visited on Sunday with friends (3 of us) for a catch up lunch and all I can say is WOW. I hadn't even heard of The Boot until my friend made the reservation for Sunday lunch. From the moment we walked into the cosy bar greeted by very welcoming staff and then the food, and although I love a Sunday roast I decided to go with cauliflower croquettes to start which were amazing, other starters - pork belly and scallops which were so good (we always taste each others food!) They opted for the Sunday Roast (chicken & Pork) again lovely and I had the roast cod with a lovely creamed spinach sauce. No dessert for me and one of my friends but with three spoons we tasted the bread & butter pudding which was pure comfort food. I am going to return but shall take hubby. Thank you The Boot for a great introduction.

Chunk of pork was edible but not tasty. Vegetables were tired and overall the meal was disappointing I thought the wine was very expensive making the overall package poor blue for money. The atmosphere was good and service good

We really like The Boot. Been there 3 times now and very much enjoyed every visit. It’s a lovely building, great rural setting, staff are really nice and the food is good. My only gripe is that the outdoor furniture is awful, it all needs replacing. Not a huge cost and it would improve the pub so much. Management should really consider it, as it really detracts from the experience if you want to sit outside. Still, I give it five stars as everything else is great. Keep up the good work!

I was passing on the canal and popped in for a few beers and some food... Now I've been in a couple of the "lovely pubs" places before and they're pretty good, this one far exceeded any expectations. I had seabass with a miso dressing and it was superb, I really do compliment the chef on quite a special dish there. Good selection of cheeses on the cheese board and a nice glass of port to wash it down. All with welcoming and friendly service in spite of a very hectic shift for the staff with a wedding going on. Thoroughly recommended!!!

well what a pleasure! last moment choice and we got there at 14:15 hrs, the young staff were outstanding and very efficient. Its a lovely looking place with a mixed clientele a few well behaved children , some oldies but very nice with little nooks and crannies' plus a very smart conservatory. The food and drinks are well priced and outstanding value when considering the quality of the raw materials. I had a very grand and subtle Plaice with a few new potatoes, served direct from the pan, the potatoes not the plaice, so perfectly cooked it was a delight. My wife pork was enthusiastically consumed and she confirmed how beautifully cooked it was . The Sancerre was very good , the desserts were quite large but we rose to the challenge! I had an Elysium sweet wine with with my Bakewell Tart ( In for a penny in for 13 quid) We shall certainly come again and the Plaice was a total winner on all fronts Meal cost around £120 plus a well deserved £10 tip. Although we ate at the last moment we never felt rushed and we told to take our time, which we did!

This was the third time I’ve eaten at this pub. I don’t know if it was my choices but I feel the food isn’t as good quality as before. I ordered calamari for a starter. It wasn’t very nice at all. Tasteless dry and overcooked. Then I had fish and chips. The fish itself was really fresh and nice. But the batter was very oily. Three out of four of us had same and we all said same. The batter was stodgy underneath and it was very oily too. The chips and peas were very nice. Can’t really explain it but it has lost some of its spark. We drive half an hour to eat there but probably wouldn’t make the effort again. Which is a shame as the pub is pretty. The staff are very attentive and the restaurant is pretty too.

My Dad celebrated his 80th in the tepee on Saturday, the staff were just amazing nothing was too much trouble they really helped us to enjoy the evening. The food was excellent 10/10. Thank you all so very much ! We will definitely will be returning
