Absolutely lovely place. "Higher" Pub ambiance, high quality Food and attentive and friendly staff. Great selection of mains and sides. Staff able to tend to tables with the expected service, be it "high class" with champagne or just a fish n chips stopover. We may have had issues getting a table if we hadn't reserved.

We went on the spur of the moment when in the area and it was quite busy. The waitress received us in her gym wear which felt a bit unprofessional (too much information for a gastropub if you ask me). We ordered the pasta with duck and the steak pie which was literally that: meat in a pie. The waitress came with the potatoes, put two on the plate and asked if we wanted any more... The plate looked pretty empty. Our shock was when the truffle fries came... With truffle mayo and the waiter said: you didn't think it'd be real truffle! Of course we didn't but you can have truffle oil and parmesan, The Ivy makes a lovely one and you are charging us the same price! On top of that my husband hates mayo so I wish we didn't ordered them. Make sure your phone has charge as might need it to read the menu. Not very impressed.

My husband and myself have just had a Sunday roast at The Boot to celebrate our wedding anniversary...I'd like to say firstly that the staff were brilliant, very helpful and accommodating. We had booked this particular restaurant as we had visited many times a few years ago when we lived in Lapworth, we always enjoyed our times there. However we were very disappointed today. When we arrived we were shown to a table, which I can only describe as a nursery table, children would struggle to be comfortable in. It was so close to the table in front that we would all have struggled to be comfortable. Also the light above us was flickering badly. We were moved to another table, right in the doorway between the restaurant and the the conservatory. It was cold and the constant stream of staff and customers made it impossible to eat there. We were moved again into the conservatory, this time the seating was adequate. I ordered the roast beef, when it arrived it was tasty but I really needed a steak knife to cut it. I understand that a lot of people like their veg al dente but!!!! Mine was straight from the ground! I couldn't eat it. The cauliflower cheese was the same, rock hard and bad in the middle! The dessert however was really delicious. Sadly though we won't be returning. I know it was Sunday afternoon but screaming children and barking dogs. Definitely not!

Visited for Sunday lunch. Was very impressed with the service. The Pork was delicious and my wife had the beef which she loved. The desserts were excellent too. The only downside was that we were hurried into finishing our meal because the table was booked, but despite this I would recommend this inn.

Lovely place with some very high-quality food. The service is outstanding and the atmosphere was great, apart from being a little too warm throughout the evening. I do feel like it is expensive, but it's a nice place to go for the odd special occasion. Probably the best lamb I've ever had. I did feel abit awkward when the bill arrived and the optional service charge was written on... I felt abit pressured into paying it...considering the price of the final bill, the service charge was more than a meal and starter put together

We stopped in on the way to London because it was rated as one of the best pubs in the area and we fancied a Sunday roast. Unfortunately the kitchen had closed 15 minutes before our arrival. Luckily we ran into the owner (Paul) who offered us a late seating then went out of his way to see that we got attended to. Food was exceptional. Had the roast dinner and dessert. went for a couple of beers after a long walk. Ordered a pint of Atlantic Pale Ale and queried when it was full if it was meant to be a cloudy ale and was informed by the barman it was. Started drinking it and it was bitter to the taste so I queried again to be told by the same barman he'd worked there 3 years and it's always been cloudy, with no mention of changing the beer. So I left it on the bar and left the pub. I've Looked on the brewery website since and it's not a cloudy ale at all. So unless they haven't cleaned their pipes for 3 years it was the end of the barrell as i suspected. It's probable that due to being in our walking clothes we weren't treated with the same degree of respect you'd expect. the Inn otherwise seems popular, but the barman needs to learn to look past what people wear and offer the same service to all, irrespective of initial impressions.

This pub is usually excellent but on Saturday we had terrible service from multiple people. We came as part of a large party for a significant birthday was shocked by the standard of service/attitudes of staff. I totally appreciate that it was a bank holiday and staff were likely pressurised but as soon as we arrived, we were brusquely told to 'sit down'. Members of the group were still greeting family members who had travelled from other countries and I found this to be unnecessary. The waiter assigned to us was likely attempting to come across as good natured and funny but actually missed the mark and was quite rude and patronising. The drinks took an hour to arrive and we didn't get our food until 2 hours after arrival. One of the party politely enquired about the delay (reasonably). There was then a noticeable shift in treatment from staff. I totally understand that large groups can be challenging on busy days but we all did our best to be friendly and polite. I recommended this pub to everyone for big birthdays/ life events as the food is brilliant but this experience was very disappointing

Desserts were also extremely good and of course homemade. Other comments are saying it is pricy, I'd agree but it is definitely worth it. Take it as treat to yourself. We sat in the tent because we were dogsitting. Thumbs up for being dog-friendly. The tent temperature takes a bit getting used to. You get quite warm when the heaters are on.

Take the dog for a walk and stop off for some lovely food and refreshments. There is also a little cake shop just out back by the canal. If u just fancy tea and cakes.
