Just had a fabulous meal at The Boot Inn at Northop . Went with my partner and my Sister and chose the two course set meal served on a Monday to Wednesday priced at £13.99 . Didn’t expect to be wowed with food at such a bargain price but full menu had loads of choice at very reasonable prices too so gave it a go ! Well what can I say ! Wowed we definately were ! The food arrived as a very substantial portion , we girls chose scampi and my partner chose the sausage and mash offering with Yorkshire pudding or onion rings . The 10 scampi were nestled in a bed of mixed salad and fresh leaves accompanied with 2 small dishes of peas and tartare sauce and THE Most DELICIOUS chips I have ever eaten since my grandma made them for me 60 years ago !! They were amazing . No frozen rubbish here , Real chips made fresh from real potatoes and all different sizes . Crispy, tasty and everyone a gem ! Fries and skin ons were avaliable if you prefer but why would you lol !! Main course was followed by our 3 chosen desserts of strawberry cheesecake, sticky toffee pudding and cherry sundae all beautifully presented and served with a smile by the young dedicated staff who helped make our evening just perfect ! Will definitely be back . Thank you all so much . Great food well presented and cheerfully served at such great value for money is hard to find these days . Thank you all ! We will be back !

My friends and I went to The Boot for a get together early evening meal. Choose there are meals always lovely plus we had heard they had a new menu. We looked at main menu on the back of the new menu it stated two courses for £13.99 on Mon to Weds after 5pm. We all decided to go for this great deal. We asked for the bill. On getting the bill we were charged full price. When we questioned this with bar staff. They said there was a specific menu for this particular deal. We checked all tables in restaurant, there was no specific menu on any of tables. Two members of our party had by luck had chosen items from specific menu. So bill was reduced at our request. To be fair bar staff member did apologise. Reason for review is that people need to be aware that offer has a separate menu. This is not made clear when ordering. Some of our party would not have had a second course if they had been aware. Staff need to highlight to customers that there is a separate menu on a Mon to Weds after 5pm. Even though we were disappointed in the outcome. We had an excellent meal and would return. Now we are aware of the separate menu.

We had a wonderful Sunday Lunch at the Boot Inn with the family. The service was fast and friendly, and the waitresses were very attentive. The roast dinner was mouth-watering and portion sizes very generous, at a price that was very reasonable. The pub itself is a charming and cozy place, with low ceilings, dark wood, and a lot of character: a proper British pub. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a traditional and tasty pub meal.

I came with our W.I. Members yesterday for Lunch which had been pre-booked. However as I could not choose anything from the menu supplied, due to being coeliac (Gluten Free) I emailed The Boot on the 4th March to ask if they could supply a Gluten Free meal and Dessert. II was sent Allergens Sheets, (which I did not need, due to the number of years I have been coeliac, emailed again on the 5th March to which I received reply stating they would see what they could do. Well sadly the meal I ended up yesterday consisted of a piece of Gammon ( very tough) a pile of salad and some peas. A really unappealing meal. The Boot states that its food is top quality, it even caters for vegans and vegetarians, so Punch who sets the menus, next time you are revising it, please add meals to it for people who have other dietary requirements. This is the first restaurant that I have been to, that could NOT serve a proper Gluten Free Meal, and I have been to many over the whole of the United Kingdom.

Went to Boot Inn whilst staying in Halkyn. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. Food was below average. My husband didn't get what he ordered and had to send it back my daughter ordered the 'seasonal salad' with prawns which was literally a bunch of green leaves dry couscous/ bulgar and 8 of the smallest prawns you could get (9.95)! I ordered the street food which although tasty was not as described on the menu. It was meant to come with cauliflower rice but came with normal rice and at £50 for whole meal and drinks I felt we had well and truly been ripped off.

family celebration, 2 out of the 6 were terrible. the steak and ale pie was microwaved within an inch of its life !half of it was inedible because the pastry was rock hard and the steak was dried out and hard by it being over heated in the microwave., The childs fish fingers were without fish, even she did not eat it. To be honest the steak pie meal was smaller than the childs. Will be a long time before i go again , because if you are paying good money for a meal, the least you expect after expressing your disappointment in the meal is some kind of explanation or minimum a sorry !! Nothing, took the money without anything. Glad i conducted myself in a respectful manner and complained in the correct manner, pity the owners could not have shown me the same respect.

I belong to a line dancing group that meet every week at the other end of the street that The Boot is in, Northop. Our Christmas lunch as booked at this pub and when I saw the menu I was looking forward to the meal. When we arrived there seemed to be a bit of a problem, the landlord did not seem to know how many of us were actually booked in, eventually it was sorted and the starters turned up. I ordered Fried Brie wedges and salad, the salad was fine but the wedges were so overcooked that the Brie was welded to the sides of the breaded cases. Next course for me was Steak, ordered med/well done. My friend had her plate first and she wanted well done and BOY was it WELL DONE, I would say cremated was more like it! mine turned up and it was not much better, I could smell the burnt embers on my plate, I had 2 small pieces of parsnip which were ok at one end and like a brick at the other end, sprouts, a mess of pureed carrots (ughh) and they were cold, loads and loads of fried small potatoes which were hard and burned. I had to put some cranberry sauce on the plate to hide the burnt taste of the steak. In the end I left most of it. I told the waitress who told the landlord who said that he had been given sub standard delivery of meat, so I said "then why didn't they cook it slowly in the oven with onions and gravy", I said that most of the meal up to then had been overcooked and cold. The Xmas pud and custard was ok, I ordered a latte and when I went to pay the landlord said it was on the house. I would have preferred that he had not made so many excuses for the badly cooked food and given me back my money. I was not very happy and left hungry! The landlord kept saying that he had not had any other complaints but there were people on my table complaining about the standard of food that day. The day before we went there we were all told that their credit card machine was out of order and that we would have to pay cash hmmmmm another likely story. Just making sure they got their money in full for what was not a very nice meal at all and NO Customer Service whatsoever.

Had some really good meals at the Boot in the past until last night. My wife had the Aberdeen Angus Lasagne but it was more like a veggie lasagne. She struggled to find any meat in it. I had the Half Roast Chicken. I had to ask for the jug of gravy that it was supposed to be served with. The gravy was essential because the chicken was so overcooked and dry. My partner and i decided to pop in for few light bites and a drink. The onion rings were v fried to death and soaked in oil not even edible. The baked camembert had been pinged in the microwave wasn't even hot in the middle the bread seemed stale and dry, but had been toasted. We sent it back it came out having been cooked for few more minutes. We ate the sweet potato fries which where the frozen type no cooked from fresh. And we decide to just ask for a refund and leave. The bar manager apologised and gave us our money back. The kitchen staff walked pass a few time to get food from the storage in the back of pub and their uniforms were beyond filthy. Went on our way home from a weekend in Wales for a roast dinner. We both had roast beef. Delicious! Very little fat on the beef, roasties and Yorkshire pud were great, gravy was amazing. Veg was steaming hot and very tasty. The young girl that served us was very friendly and smiley. We will most certainly be returning!

Made to feel welcome as soon as we were in the door. Staff couldn't do enough. Service and food were excellent. Would highly recommend. My husband said the cask bitter is the best kept in the area. Perfect temperature!

We had seen good reviews of this place and were looking for somewhere for a reasonable priced evening meal and the 2 courses for £12 deal they advertised seemed to fit the bill. The bar area was busy but the restaurant was pretty much empty. We were given a piece of paper with the menu choices on it as they were "changing the menu" and had a reduced choice. I ordered the scampi and my husband the Stilton burger. We waited 45 mins for it to come which seemed a very long time considering the number of diners. They had run out of tartare sauce which was disappointing, and as a result I did not enjoy my scampi as much as I expected to. The desserts were the normal sundae and chocolate cake combos, and they were fine.My big issue was the ladies toilet. The light bulb was faulty and it was flashing away like a strobe which gave me a pounding headache. In the cubicle there was no holder for a toilet roll, and one of those industrial sized rolls was just placed on the floor. As a result it was covered in filth and some excrement and I had to unravel the roll some way until I got to a clean piece I could use. One of the most disgusting things I have had to do on an evening out. To top it off, the bill did not reflect the £12 each were expecting. Presumably because of the "change in menu" but we were not advised of this and all the signs everywhere showed the deal that we did not get. We did not query the bill as we just wanted to get out of there.

On my first visit to the UK this was my first pub visit. I was not disappointed. I didn't eat as we were only stopping for a quick visit and look around. The atmosphere was lovely, the wait staff was welcoming and friendly to a foreigner. The beer delightful. I got a tutorial on the history of the place which was very interesting. There is outdoor seating in a lovely flowered garden area. And cows across the fence out back. I would go again and I recommend you visit.

We called in to The Boot for an impromptu lunch on the way home from shopping on a lovely warm day. We sat outside and ordered sandwiches which were nicely, speedily and cheerfully presented. The food was reasonably priced and the bar staff were very friendly. The pub is slightly off the beaten track but now we've found it, we will return.

Just been charged £9:30 for a pint of fosters shandy? A bit pricey in my mind. On and off me and the wife have been here a number of times mostly for Sunday lunch but I don't think we will be returning.

We went as a group of residents for a day Out and it was great...we had a carvery meal which was excellent followed by games of bingo and play your cards right then there was an entertainer on so we could dance or just sing a long to the music. Bar drinks were very reasonably priced

They only accept cash. the fish was excellent and is always cooked to order. Chips not as good and not hot enough. Good sized portions. They had run out of pickled eggs.
