Really made my friends birthday special and the Sunday dinner was amazing thanks very much I will be back and coca the dog it's a little friendly girl even though she's frightened of mine but Teddy loved it too

We only live on the hawthorns across the road and was very pleased to hear the pub had reopened and serving home cooked food, The staff are so lovely and couldn’t make you feel more at home ! . . Today we had the home cooked Sunday roast and I have to say it was absolutely incredible the beef fell apart with zero fat on it and the trimmings were amazing too, the cauliflower cheese was so tasty and gravy was to die for . . Definitely our new favourite place for an amazing Sunday dinner . . Thanks so much too all the staff who were so lovely and welcoming too 10/10 all round . . It’s a must try !

First time visit with family after recently moving to the area. Kids enjoyed the day and my husband and I were looking forward to the night after we dropped the kids at grandparents house. Was a good atmosphere until staff that had been working earlier reappeared and were definitely past tipsy, if not 'high' as my husband suspected. The barman even had to apologise to us at end of night after we witnessed one staff member had a go at a young lady. Such a shame that a good day was ruined by a few people. We'll be giving Boot a miss for a while, hopefully things get better and we might give it another chance!!

Came today for the first time and I was really impressed. I had a Sunday roast it was cooked to perfection and the the service was excellent. The staff are lovely and I already can’t wait to go back and sample more of the menu !

First time we’ve been in since change of ownership. Can’t fault the service or food. The Sunday dinner was perfect! Piping hot and all freshly prepared. The beef was tender, potatoes crispy and veg was all fresh and tasty. Great value for money. We’ll definitely be back!

Its clean and staff friendly but thats as good as it gets. From forgetting our booking to the arrival of pretty bland cafe food it failed to impress. Worst still at almost a fiver for a pint of thwaites bland bitter its london prices for drinks and food. Went to ship after, far better

We visited after hearing from our Neighbours how lovely it was We could tell a difference from the last time we visited. This time it looked welcoming,cleaner and Lovely staff. We both had food The Burger and The home made Cheese pie. We were both very Happy with our meals and drinks Will be going back Well done to the New Management.

Didn't plan to go here, it was a last minute decision, Bonds was shut down. Glad I didn't have ice cream anyway. One of the best Sunday lunches I have ever had, the freshest ingredients & cooked beautifully, hope to eat here again next time we are passing. A slight downside, this pubs allows dogs, being a dog owner I don't mind but there was quite a few dogs in & they were a bit noisy, so spoilt the experience a little, apart from that excellent, thank you.

Great little pub! We’ve been a few times and never disappoints. Very welcoming and relaxed. We had Sunday lunch today and it’s the best roast beef dinner I’ve had for a very long time. Delicious, tender meat, crunchy roast potatoes and a variety of fresh vegetables and home made Yorkshire pudding and gravy. It’s a hidden gem!

Thoroughly enjoyed my freshly beer battered fish and chips. My wife had the specials chicken burger with Parma ham. Welcoming host and warm, comfortable atmosphere.

A few miles inland from the busy seafront at Blackpool is the delightful village of Elswick.where The Boot and Shoe pub/restaurant is located. Originally in the last century it was a farmhouse, then expanded and became an ice cream factory and also a small village pub. But once the ice cream production ended the pub was extended and now is an excellent restaurant as well. Managed by Sian and Alan Smith, it provides a comprehensive menu throughout the week with Sunday roast specials. Sian an Alan are excellent hosts, matching the superb food at reasonably-prices. The character of part of the original farmhouse building remains with a well in the corner. Sian, who started her career at the age of 15 in an Indian restaurant, now has many years of experience as a chef, having worked in a variety of top class restaurants throughout Lancashire. You will not be disappointed!

Was looking for a venue that could host a 60th & 70th birthday party with the added glamrock band as entertainment ,Sian and Ian helped plan the special day allowing the pub to be dressed for the occasion.Food was exceptional .The whole experience was topped off with great staff who looked after our guests with true professionalism .A highly recommended team who puts the customer first

Tried the delivery service on a Saturday evening and it did not disappoint. We placed the order using the online website food delivered on time and it was lovely and hot. We ordered the deluxe vegetarian pizza, Burgers and fries. The burgers definitely stole the show. Would definitely recommend and will use again 👍

What can I say, food is amazing especially the Sunday roast, staff are fantastic very friendly and welcoming, we live locally and this will be our local pub for years to come. Oh and the karaoke nights are awesome. Thanks guys.

I booked a table on tues 8th September for the following Friday at 6.00 pm requesting if possible a certain table for 4 , which was accepted . Upon arrival we were told the table was reserved for a regular, “they always sit here” so had to sit elsewhere . What can I say about the food !! 2 people had the spring roll starters , which were clearly overcooked from the freezer and not fresh . We ordered burgers off the special menu , terrible , the chicken burger was just chicken breast on a muffin , no mayo or coleslaw on the side as stated on the menu , the gourmet burger was dry overcooked , just hard as iron on the outside , no coleslaw , the food was tasteless and bland , and we were never asked at any time if the food was ok either during our meal or when we paid , which may I add we paid in full , we felt totally disgusted , oh and may I add the original table we booked was still empty when we left . Rubbish !!

We had heard really good things and decided to try as our usual place was shut for a refurb. The service was a little slow but after catching the waitresses eye she came over to take our order. We ordered 2 chicken dinners, 1 gammon & 1 burger. The dinners arrived & after spooning the veg onto our plates we realised the veg was stone cold & hadn’t been warmed up at all. As the waitress was busy & our dinners were going cold I took the veg back to the kitchen & received a grunt from who I presume was the chef. Once the veg was warmed up & brought back out to us we began but unfortunately when we turned the Yorkshire puddings over they were burnt black & the roast potatoes were too hard to bite into. It’s probably right to note that my dad & my son had no complaints they said the gammon & the burger were lovely. I explained all this when we paid & how disappointed we were with the 2 chicken dinners the lady at the bar said she’d mention it to the chef but there was no suggestion of any reduction on the bill. I can’t say I was very impressed & had there been an effort to make up for the disappointing meals I probably wouldn’t have written this review & given The Boot & Shoe a second chance but as it stands I won’t be visiting again.

We had a lovely beach dog walk and then googled a local pub. Happily they welcome dogs. Lovely Pub. Lovely staff. Roast beef dinner was really good. Steak and ale pie really good. Slight suggestion plates weren’t hot and food wasn’t too hot but quality spot on. It was pretty cold so the fire lit would have been nice and the music was so loud and not a chilled Sunday lunch vibe music. Little things but would add to a perfect Sunday x

Never had a bad meal here, till tonight when the food was ok, ordered and then waited 20 mins for starter to be told they don’t have it, And had to re order, so 45 mins later we got our starter, main course was ok, but I felt the chips were salty, partner had a steak, it was very thin, I nearly had that but so glad I didn’t as I like mine rare, and there was no way it could have been cooked that way, my chicken was ok, little dry so had to leave some of it.

We would highly recommend a visit here!! Amazing food, great atmosphere and dogs are allowed in part of the pub so it is great if out for a walk or stop off with your doggie. The recent refurb looks amazing and the entertainment that's on is varied and always good. Well worth a visit!!!!!Looking forward to trying the Christmas menu!

Called for Sunday Lunch and to see how the pub looked after refurb. It's lovely. Menu looks great. We had homemade soup starter and mixed seafood starter. Both very tasty. Sunday Lunch was great as always. Definitely value for money. Will be back soon!

Came here in s Sunday evening with family, there was 8 of us in total and so we phoned ahead to make sure they could fit us in. Upon arriving the barmaid was rude and suggested that we couldn’t have dinner as they were too busy. There was a guy day drinking near the bar who took over and ultimately we were able to get food. 3 of us were vegan and there was only one choice in the menu of curry; there were about 15 other options on a barely legible blackboard that offered nothing other than fish or meat. I was very disappointed in seeing this as more and more people are following a vegan diet and with all these options s why couldn’t there be more options for vegan diets; there wasn’t even anything for vegetarians!I don’t know why anyone would choose this pub over The Ship in Elswick, as, despite the lack of vegan/vegetarian food here too, the place is in a better location, has a beer garden and is much nicer inside!Boot and Shoe, please get a more diverse and interesting menu, sack the barmaid and you might do well.The only positive this pub has is the waitress who was pleasant and looked after us as best she could.

I called in at the Boot and Shoe tonight (Thursday) at 7:30pm specifically to sample the food. Whilst looking at the menus on the blackboard two of the existing customers told me that since ordering they had been waiting for over an hour for food and advised that I should check if they were still serving. The sign outside the pub states that they serve food until 9pm. The barman stated that they were still serving so I went back to the blackboards to continue to study the menus. Another member of staff then came over to me and said they I couldn’t have any food and therefore I went back to the bar to speak to the original barman. The barman stated that 'he couldn't serve me as he had some bookings'. I explained to him that as there were only 4 people eating surely he could fit me in. After he explained that I would have to wait for food he changed his mind and said again that they couldn’t serve me. I then asked to speak to the Manger and was told that 'he was a sort of Manager.'

Quality food cooked to absolute perfection in a warm, bright and friendly place. Seriously, what's not to like?

The wait was far too long for a starter. The wait was around 50 minutes. When the starter arrived it was surprisingly good. The main course had potential it’s just the chips and onion rings were very greasy. The staff behind the bar were a little slow too. If you have time then it’s worth giving it a go. The whole menu is on a blackboard.

Went in December after change of ownership, very disappointing, having been many times before as it was great value for money in a great atmosphere. On this occasion there were no menus on any of the tables, we had to view what was on offer on a chalk board which was positioned over a table that people were having their meal at. My wife had a wine glass which was full of lipstick and she had ordered scampi which came as 8 small pieces of frozen scampi and loads of poor quality salad, mainly lettuce and cabbage, my meal was disgusting. Its a real shame as this was once a great place to go for an evening meal at a really good price. would not recommend and will not visit again.

Called in for a meal Sunday night (18:30), barman confirmed they were doing food but when we went to order we were told the chef was not doing anymore food. We were not the only couple to be refused. This place is under new management and trying to build up business good luck with that.

We stopped here on the way home from Blackpool, the special board had a kind of Surf and Turf (Steak and Prawns) and a great price, we both had it and were not disappointed....not the biggest steak bur really tasty.

We had lunch there today. On entering we found the pub rather chilly and things did not look too inviting. However, Steven the barman turned on a nearby gas fire and we soon became warm. The food was plentiful, well cooked and of extremely good value. The Yorkshire Puddings were marvellous and the desserts rather good!

This was our first visit to the Boot. We have passed it a few time but tonight decided to give it a try. We were a bit perturbed when we arrived as we were the only customers but it was early and we got a warm welcome from Lee so we decided to stay and try the food.

We ate here today for my Son's 21st Birthday. We were warmly welcomed by the staff, the service was excellent and the bar staff new about the drinks they were serving. Following the refurb the pub is very nice and though the food menu is limited what we had was excellent. The pizzas are fantastic!!

Had a quick lunch here with my son and some friends. The place looks great after the refurbishment and food was a generous portion of pub food for a good price. The stone-baked pizza looked delicious too. Play area for kids outside was fab. Huge improvement! We'll be going back.

Llamado a la botas y zapatos recientemente, fue recibido con una cálida bienvenida por un equipo pequeño pero eficiente de lo que parece ser un país familiar pub/restaurante, los alrededores estaban muy limpias y eran espaciosas, las tuberías de comida caliente era exactamente lo que pedimos, sin errores y de muy buena calidad. No había necesidad de reservar y sin duda volveremos en el futuro.

Buena comida a un buen precio en un único pub. Simplemente una verguenza que el camarero tenía un "no quiero ser aquí la 'actitud.

Nos instalamos en local hace 2 años y uno de los miembros de coro en Elswick cuidado de preguntar si habían probado la comida en el maletero y limpiabotas - lo que tengo que decir que no tenía, hasta hace poco. Entonces, nos enteramos de que permite en perros. Así que para cambiar, fuimos allí para una comida y nos quedamos agradablemente sorprendidos! Actualmente, estamos trabajando nuestro camino por el menú, ya que son mimados y aún mejor, la comida es un precio muy razonable. Además, nuestros dos labradors mascotas están tomando por turnos para visitar... con tal de que continúe a comportarse!!! La comida es una tentación...

Someone recommended this place to us (to be honest we didn't know it existed). I had the homemade beef and ale pie with chips and veg for £8.50 and my friend had the mixed grill for an amazing £9.99! Very clean traditional country pub. If I had just one bad thing to say its they only open from 5pm onwards, meaning they don't open during the day. But Elswick is a quiet village so perhaps that's why. Totally recommend!

Had a fantastic meal today at The Boot and Shoe. The staff were very polite and friendly. We all had different meals which were beautifully presented and very tasty. The steak was perfectly cooked and tender. We couldn't fault anything. Price wise it was very reasonable, all meals under £10 each. We will definitely be returning.

Really good cosy country pub. Like other guests have mentioned, there isn't one meal over a tenner....and that includes the mixed grill. Family run pub and this includes the cooking, so the meal you had last year will be the same this year, if that makes sense: consistency. Only serves food in the evening from five, with the exception of Sunday's, where its served all day. My wife says it's the nicest ladies toilets in a pub/restaurant she's ever been in lol!

Lovely meal here tonight, can recommend the steak and ale pie, the mixed grill, the ice cream and even the dog got a doggy chew from the owner. It's great to be able to eat out and take the dog. Go on, treat yourself (and your pooch)!

We've visited here on a number of occasions and we love it. The food is really tasty and great value for money. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the staff are welcoming and friendly. My children love the children's menu. I have to disagree with the previous post about the macaroni and cheese. My four year old adores it!We will continue to visit and would highly recommend it.

I would of given 5 stars had the service not been soooooooooo slow and poor!! We had our 2 year old son and waited upto 45 minutes before our meals arrived. I really can't fault the food it was lovely home cooked just what we love!! However the macaroni cheese that our 2 year old had was awful, clearly a packet mix really bland so he didn't eat it and this is his favourite which is was let down considering our meals where so lovely. Another major disappointment was our order was taken to another table. It was only realised when 2 pies ordered was taken to this table where my husband's mix grill was already placed in front of someone else. The gentlemen serving was told it was our order, so he brought the pies over and went to back for the mix grill which had been sitting on the other table for around 5 minutes. I thought this was just rude even more so he did not even apologise, if we had not been so hungry from waiting so long we would of sent it back as this was not acceptable, if it was my meal I would of. Luckily my husband isn't fussy. Overall food was lovely just service lacked which let the overall experience down.

Our team enters this pub quiz every Sunday. It's strict. Points deducted for using mobile phones. 40 questions. All general knowledge. But it's a lot of fun and it makes you concentrate.

Love coming here. Can be quiet at times, but also busy depending on when you come. Very welcoming and they have an extremely well kept pool table, which is why we come, and is rate to get such a good table in pubs nowadays. Yet to try the good but looks good!

Me and my partner took a wrong turn whilst out looking for somewhere to eat in the countryside. And we're glad we did. We didn't want anything too fancy, just some tea, but this place exceeded our expectations. Wide selection of meals to choose from, in a lovely pub. Very clean and well kept.

Me and my partner come here every Sunday for food. It's traditional pub food, nothing more. But it's good. You leave the place full and feel as though you have had value for money There's no meal over ten pound.

We go here often. Can't fault it to be honest. The food is traditional pub grub, but it's all locally sourced. I think they manage to keep the prices down because it's a family business. A mixed grill under a tenner!! Get yourself there, although watch out for the barmaid one liner jokes, they're not very funny!!

We visited the boot and shoe and were immediately impressed by its warmth and homely atmosphere. We took our seats and both ordered, I had the beef and ale pie and my partner the Lasagne which were both a delight. We then enjoyed a nice evening with a few drinks and lovely service. Credit to the boot for a great games room which is modern and the facilities which were nice and clean. Most of all credit to the boot and shoe for sticking to its roots, not pretending to be something it's not and just being a lovely cosy pub. We will visit again.

We have eaten here a few times and have always enjoyed the food. If you have small children just to let you know they don't have baby changing toilets or an outdoor play area for kids like some restaurants do but I'd still recommend it

Decent pub food very reasonably priced in a comfortable village pub. Good friendly service just needed a a berre range of cask beers as only one was available.p.s. look out for the well inside the pub looking down onto fish - a really novel feature

This place is totally underrated. Other nearby restaurants are packed but each time we went here it was nearly empty. In our opinion the food here is definitely better and the price is good too. Give it a try for yourself is my advice.

I have ate at the boot and shoe on multiple occasions with family and friends.Each time the food has been tasty and more than satisfying portion sizes have been provided. The prices are more than reasonable as it is possible for two people to dine for around £10 during weekdays and remains good value at weekends. Staff are very friendly and chatty , the pub is clean and we'll maintained. All the drinks purchased were of good quality with quick service for this reason a return visit was suggested that did not disappoint.

My wife, 2 friends and myself were passing The Boot and Shoe and decided to pop in for some food. I had mixed grill which was just ok and my wife had Lincolnshire pork and apple sausage with mash and caramelised red onion gravy. However when it came it was 3 cheep (chip shop type) sausages and thick instant gravy. This was defiantly not as described! The staff are pleasant enough but they did not come and ask if everything was ok.....possibly they already knew what out comments would be!

Visited Boot and Shoe Elswich on reports on tripadvisor. Although staff very friendly the venue was quite sparse. Disappointed that there were no starters. I cannot tolerate garlic so there wasn't much left on the menu for me to have but the home made steak pie was delicious. Puddings didn't appeal as they were mostly 'stoggy' with custard. I must point out that my colleagues thought the food was delicious as well.

Always good food here! Superb steak pie and food is always hot and tasty! A quiet friendly atmosphere, and friendly staff! We go here often and love the price of this great tasting food.

This is the second time we have eaten at the Boot and Shoe and both times the food has been great. The treacle pudding in particular is delicious and the staff are very friendly. The pub is clean and cosy with a nice atmosphere. The portion size is generous without being excessive so you leave full but not over stuffed. It's great value for money, the only downside is that they don't do starters. I would highly recommend a visit!

Visited after reading reviews on TA and so glad we did. The food here is excellent, home cooking with bags of flavour. Booked for a Sunday lunch time and arrived at 12.30pm. The place was virtually empty and we were wondering what we had let ourselves in for. A charming young man behind the bar served us drinks and showed us to our table. The menu seemed a little lacking compared to many places these days but I went ahead and ordered the beef and ale pie with my wife ordering thai fishcakes and rice.The place gradually filled with more people, most of them seemed to have been there before, and the pub took on a certain charm. It is a traditional family run village pub off the beaten track. The carpet, seating areas and tables were very clean. The young man who served us drinks was also serving out food and worked in a methodical manner ensuring all tables were well provided for. The food arrived and we tucked into our delicious meals. I am a somewhat fussy eater and usually steer clear of steak and ale pies as some cuts of meat used are not to my liking. However, the quality of meat used in this pie was such that I did not have worry and the flavour was fantastic. It was accompanied by mushy peas, carrots and jacket potato all of which were cooked excellently. My wife's fishcakes were also very well cooked and flavoursome. We did not try the dessert dishes on this occasion but will save that for our next visit. The prices for the meals are very reasonable but the reason for a return visit is definitely the quality of the meals provided. Wine availability is limited but reasonably priced. All in all a very pleasant Sunday lunch with excellent food and service, a credit to all working there.The pub is open in the evening from 5pm and from 12 noon on Sunday.

We have been to eat & drink here on many occasions and every time our meals are excellent! Never disappointed, unlike other restaurants. The prices are more than reasonable especially the 2 for £9 tues - fri pm deal! The staff are friendly & made to feel welcome every visit. We especially like to go as they accept well behaved dogs, so we don't leave ours at home, she also loves to go as she looks forward to a treat from Carol! You must go for a meal here!

We visit the boot & shoe on a regular basis, never once had a bad meal all food served is excellent drinks very reasonable, staff always friendly, and if you have a small well behaved dog they can go in with you to, which is a bonus for us it means we dont have to leave her at home.

myself and my family have visited the boot & shoe many times, and the food is always exellent! there is always a good choice of home cooked meals, which prove superb value for money,and the service is faultless, the place itself is a lovely quaint village pub with a friendly atmosphere, and the staff are very helpful and friendly too! i dissagree with with a previous review that someone stated it could do with a face lift, the pub is clean, tidy and pleasantly decorated, we visited twice this week, tuesday 2nd April and friday the 5th April 2013, there are many eating establishments in and around elswick, and i can confidently say that the boot & shoe is definately up there with the best, if not THE best! superb food and we will be returning again very soon!

We visited this pub on a Saturday tea time. It's off the main road in Elswick but a useful sign from the main road directed us to the door. It's a traditional country pub albeit a little old fashioned. It was a very cold evening but the heating in the pub could have done with turning up a little! The manager, Steve, greeted us warmly and poured our drinks. We found a table and ordered our food at the bar. We were a little disappointed that there were no starters on the menu which was a little odd so we just ordered main courses. I had the beef madras with chips and rice (£8). My companion had the mixed grill (£10). The curry was excellent and the mixed grill very hearty - steak, gammon, large lamb chop, sausage and black pudding. Very good food at a very reasonable price. The pub was quiet when we arrived but a few more folk arrived during the course of our stay. It appeared most were locals but Steve had asked how we found out about the place and made it clear he wanted to attract new custom. I would certainly recommend it based on the quality and price of the food if not particularly for the decor.

My husband and I just had a really good home cooked meal tonight. Bar man made us welcome when we went in. Would definitely recommend Boot and Shoe in Elswick.

Went yesterday for Mothers Day. Our first visit since they started doing food again.Prices were very good and generous portions.
