The Boatyard Inn in Gwynedd

Lovely sitting outside in the sun to eat. Not bad food -do go! - very helpful staff - did the trick!

The first few reviews I read were not positive. The inside of the bar is very dated. Quiet lunchtime visit. Ordered at the bar and then started to go to the table. Was called back to pay before food was served. May have previously had some issues but could they not have waited and would possibly have bought more. Food was average but filled the gap.

My partner and I were really hungry and stopped here for dinner. I had the burger and he had the steak, I think the burger had come from a packet and the steak looked gross. The pub had sticky floors and the smell of stale beer around the bar. The staff were pleasant and the the views from the back were good. We quickly ate our meals then left!

After looking at Facebook reviews we decided to book The Boatyard Inn for a graduation dinner. Menu is much smaller than advertised and when it came to ordering quite a few things weren't available, this wasn't made clear when we sat down and chose our meals. So it was garlic mushrooms (which were lovely) and fish and chips. My niece whose graduation it was ordered the vegan burger which she didn't really enjoy and having the ketchup tipped in her lap on arrivalto the table, accidents do happen and she was compensated with a drink. Then when it came to the bill they had added another tables wine to our bill bumping it up by nearly £50. This again was rectified but only because we checked the receipt after my dad had paid. All in all we were a little disappointed with the whole experience.

Great food and friendly staff. The seafood platter was enormous and would easily serve three. It beat my husband and daughter even with me helping a little! The fish finger sandwich was made with fresh fish goujons, none of your frozen fishfinger nonsense 😁 The Boatyard is located just a hop and a skip from the pier and the beer garden has a lovely view over the water.

Beautiful scenery and amazing food! Very friendly,went out of their way to accommodate my other half needing something spicy! Best meal we have had in a restaurant in Anglesey since we moved here in March.Thankyou very much,will be back 👍🏻👍🏻

This place saved our holiday. We were staying in an awful place and had been let down (due to weather) over a long awaited birthday treat for my husband. We had been walking around Bangor and had visited the pier with our dog and we're heading back into town. We were hungry and decided to look for somewhere to eat. This lovely building was en route. I went in. I must admit I was windswept and looked a bit ragged but the extremely friendly welcome I received was much needed and I felt at home immediately. I asked for a menu and we decided on the platter as it was always the plan to celebrate with a meal after my husband had done his flight! We were allowed to have the dog in with us to eat which was a relief as it was getting cold and starting to rain. We sat by a fish tank which was very relaxing and much appreciated after the days we had had in Gwynedd. The platter looked and tasted amazing. Presentation was superb. I have lived abroad in the canaries and I have only had nicely cooked calamari twice and here was one of the times. Great place can't thank them enough.

We were a bit late finding somewhere to eat, but when we phoned they said that they would keep the kitchen open a few minutes later to allow us to get there. We all had the loaded fries and they were great! big portions and reasonably priced. Lovely views from the terrace outside. The pub itself is a little tired, but the staff were great and we had a nice evening there.

Excellent meal we shared a seafood platter between 2 there was more than enough for 3. It bust us 2. Would give it 10 out of 10 for service and quality. The bill was a big surprise. Seafood platter comes with 2 drinks included. You have to go if you are in Bangor

The food was great for a quiet midweek lunch with our dog whilst visiting bangor and the views are stunning!

We arrived, found a table, ordered, paid and waited. After about 10 minutes the drinks arrived. A few minutes later was advised my order was not available! Change order. Waited and waited. Order at the bar and pay and order delivered to your table Ordered Baked Camembert and 3 mango chicken wraps . Advised 20 mins later the Camembert wasn’t available Staff seemed under pressure and told customers there would be a45 min wait for food . Ours came after about 30 mins Rated average based on the interior and facilities It’s a bit tired looking and dated and needs updating and freshening up The ladies toilets- the locks are dodgy, there was no soap ( an almost empty bootle of sanitiser ) a hand drier but the paper towel container was empty If businesses want to recover from the Covid crisis , they need to up their game to encourage customers to come back

Came across this gem of a place whilst walking along to the pier, we all got drinks and sat overlooking the water. Great range of drinks to choose from!! We decided to stay on ordering food from the evening menu, as the night got cooler we moved to be seated in the bright restaurant and all enjoyed every mouthful of our meals!!! Thoroughly enjoyed our experience and would advise to pop in.

Came here for a late lunch yesterday afternoon , I ordered the spicy chicken burger n it was rock solid and so chewy it was like the hot and spicy chicken fillets I get from iceland but it was like it had been sat there all day and came with a side of pickle (not sure what that was about) . My partner and my sister got the fish and chips the portions was something you would find on the kids menu and they weren't impressed with the taste of their meals either. They brought out my 2 year olds meal after all the adults , not to mention we waited about 40 minutes for our food in the first place and there was nobody else eating there at the time. I wouldn't eat here again, but the beer garden is lovely especially in the summer by the sea front.

When we arrived it was very chaotic, we had prebooked a table as there was 8 of us. On arrival there was a crowd at the bar with one person serving, and we couldnt see any reserved signs on the tables (although they had 2 large tables set up) and we couldnt actually find any staff other than the person serving to check where we should sit or to let them know we had arrived. We actually waited around 10 minutes before speaking to a staff member and getting our table.

We chose this place to eat as we arrived quite late in Bangor and it was close to our B&B.; We were greeted and seated very quickly, and our order taken promptly.

Passed this pub many times but hadn’t been in so decided to give it a try today and so glad we did! Can’t fault the place at all... super friendly staff, great decor, lovely beer garden, amazing reasonably priced food and huge portions!! Will definitely be returning and highly recommend.

we walked in on Saturday night to see if we could eat. The staff were very welcoming and showed us to a table. The locals were also friendly, advising on which beers were best and where they were brewed. The Pub food was of top quality and enjoyed by us all. and not over priced by any means. Will go back again if in the area, no problem.

Visited with a group of 10, service was friendly and personal, food was very good, right size portions and tasty. I had chicken strips with chilli jam, chilli jam spot on sweetness vs spice, followed by catch of the day (sea bass with dauphinois potatoes) all cooked perfectly. Price was reasonable, good selection of gins and beers.

We had a family Sunday lunch out and there was something on the menu for everyone. Great value, lovely food and friendly service. Would definitely go there again, or recommend.

We stayed in their B&B; and we thought the pricing was reasonable and the room was clean. We happened to arrive on a Sunday so had their buffet lunch. It is absolutely outstanding. The staff was great and the portions and selection was excellent.

A fab meal here. We only rang to book 1 hour before arriving, the boatyard fitted us in at no hesitation even though we were a table of 22 people! All meals were brilliant, the only minor comment is that the coleslaw was a little watery. However, we had a fantastic meal all seated together and would definitely recommend to others and visit again.

This is the first time we have stayed in Bangor. We were told about this place by someone in the hotel we were staying.

Great food and a good pint (eventually), steak dinner followed by a wonderful sweet. Everything was cooked to our liking. Only complaint was that the first real ale I had was cloudy, however this was exchanged with no fuss for something that was fine. I think it hadn't had time to settle perhaps a bit of cellarcraft training required. Sitting in the sunshine in the generous beer garden and eating there was a bonus! Will call again if we are in Bangor.

We visited here on Friday night, it seemed a little quiet but we decided to give it a try. The staff were very friendly and polite, the service was very good and the food was excellent, in fact so good we returned on Saturday night for dinner again. I would really recommend the 10oz gammon, it just melted in your mouth, no tough bits, lovely chips, egg, pineapple, mushrooms . Had to be a 10 out of 10

Nous aimons la cuisine simple mais de bonne qualité et nous avons été très déçu par ce restaurent mon ami a commandé un burger avec un steak haché peu cuit le serveur nous a dit que ce n'était pas possible la viande était beaucoup trop cuite mon plat était vraiment mauvais avec une purée et des crevettes de très mauvaise qualités !

While the staff were nice, the food was terrible. The seafood linguine was too rich and greasy to enjoy, and the plate was so hot I had to wait a while for it to cool down. My partner's broccoli was overdone, and the florets just crumbled when she tried to pick them up, her fish was also slathered in butter.

We went in for drinks. Lovely outside garden overlooking Menai straits. Good service. Friendly staff.

We loved the starters, the fish chowder was excellent and very tasty. Unfortunately the main courses were a bit of a let down - soggy veg and overcooked meat - perhaps it was a bad night though?

We were in Bangor to visit relatives and stumbled upon The Boatyard Inn. Very friendly staff, great food and a fun quiz on a Wednesday night. We are back in North Wales in July and will make sure to come back here!

We went for a dinner on Saturday evening. Staff were really bad at their job, didn’t know how to run a pub. There were only 2 beers to choose from! But the worst was the wait to be served. We waited over an hour for starters!!! And in the end they didn’t accept card for payment. Never again. Avoid at all cost!

Been here an afternoon for a drink with my Boyfriend.

We booked here for Mother's Day for the carvery ,very busy when we arrived but it was all very organised we were shown to our table the young lady explained what we were to do I think the young lad on the bar could have done with another pair of hands but we didn't wait to long for a drink and to place our orders and we were given a ticket which they kept behind the bar and when it was our turn they came to get us . Have been coming here for some time for Sunday dinner which is amazing although you have to wait a while to go and get the cavery as it’s usually quite busy. Because of this I suggested we go on our works xmas party there, 3 of us were running 5-10 mins late, the ones who were on time felt intimidated by the staff. We’d barely sat down and our starter was there, which was ok nothing special I had pate with one little piece of hard bread, then the main came straight away it wasn’t a patch on the Sunday dinner. There was only one other table in there so they weren’t exactly rushed of their feet! It felt like they couldn’t wait to get rid of us! Overpriced as well no music on no xmas spirit! Very disappointing!

Came here last weekend with my boyfriend for a Sunday carvery and it has got to be the best one yet. Great choice of meat, veg and sides. We had 4 slices of meat and with all the extras we were stuffed. Definitely coming back again soon

Just finished my Sunday carvery , well what can I say. Absolutely lovely!!!! , the whole family really enjoyed everything , freshly cooked produce done to perfection in my mind , my thanks to all the staff for another enjoyable meal

This was not my choice of accommodation...it had been booked for me. I had a single room at the back and all l can say was that it was clean. The room is very basic with a horrible carpet, there is a noisy generator which can be heard on and off all night and the bathroom is along the corridor. Cannot recommend.

I am not usually a fan of a carvery, but this is one of the best I've ever encountered. Quality hot food, friendly chef & waiting staff and clean premises. Looking forward to returning

The Boatyard Inn is wonderfully quint and run impeccably owner run by Ian and his staff. I ordered the Scampi, Mushy peas and Chips. The Scampi was crispy on the outside and succulent on the inside. The chips were home made and wonderfully crispy. The service was friendly as well as efficient. I also had Vanilla ice-cream for dessert, sprinkled with Cinnamon, which was creamy and delicious. The atmosphere of the restaurant was elegant and cosy. Food, atmosphere and service absolutely faultless.

Visiting our Grandson at university he suggested the Boatyard for an evening meal. My wife and I had the double cheese burger and my granson had the beef burger with pulled pork all served with home made chips. Cooked to perfection, we all enjoyed the meal. My Granson and I just managed to finish but my wife couldn't quite finish the burger. Cost including 2 wines plus one other was £39.45. Excellen value. service was good as well.

Having read reviews decided to give the boatyard, disappointed is an understatement, the food ranged from lukewarm to so hot it was unbearable to eat.Needless to say we will be returning

We've just stumbled across The Boatyard Inn this evening and what a fabulous find!! The carvery was the best we've ever had. Traditionally cooked meats, fresh, gorgeous vegetables and gravy to die for! Fairly priced and friendly staff I would thoroughly recommend this place! We will definitely be back during our holiday in Wales!

The lads & I were in Bangor for a stag weekend, and ate here on the Saturday night. We were really happy with the food and service at the pub, and would definitely recommend it if you're ever in the area. Great views from the beer garden, and only a short walk to the pier.

Stopped here for a late lunch. Delicious homemade cream of mushroom soup with warmed roll. Pork, sage stuffing and onion with apple sauce baguette. Staff were lovely but food disappointing. We had a long wait but it wasn't a busy period. The soup, although delicious, was barely warm and the roll was not fresh.

We've been to this pub many times but the last few times we have visited they were closed or changing management. It is now up and running again with fantastic staff and excellent food!

We stayed in Bangor in order to go on the Snowdonia railway. Very convenient, but only burger bars nearby.We drove around and found The Boatyard. What a good find. About 7 minutes drive from the Travelodge. The place could have, should have been cleaner than it was. Nice outside eating area with lovely views.Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was freshly cooked and delightful. Beer was cold and plentiful. I would definitely eat there again. The Boatyard had a very good broad based menu. Something for everyone.

Been here a few times for cavery and it's beyond lovely the meat is cooked to perfection and plenty of choice for meat aswell plenty of choice of veg aswell absolutely love the cauliflower cheese ... good prices for the cavery aswell well worth your money, if you want a nice Sunday lunch I'd advise comin here every time there's aALWAYS a nice welcome and the customer service is 5* can't fault anything here..... P.s The burger is filling and delicious and the chips are obviously homemade and outstanding

We found ourselves in Bangor after a morning of adventures in the surrounding areas. We parked up near the pier and took a walk to find some food and ended up here. Very glad we did too. Greeted by a very friendly lady behind the bar. I opted for a chicken baguette with chips and my boyfriend had the special trio of sausages with mash and gravy. Food is cooked fresh and we were advised it would take up to half an hour, but we did not mind. The food arrived and it smelt amazing and they were generous portion sizes. The chips were definitely real hand cut chips and the bbq chicken was really tasty. The trio of sausages were quickly devoured along with the mountain of mash and gravy! Would definitely eat here again if we are in the area. Great views from the outside seating too! Thanks for having us! 

This is the first summer visit we have made to the Boatyard and since the new management team took over. It was such a pleasant surprise. We sat outside for lunch and enjoyed the fantastic view across Menai to Puffin Island and to the mountains. It was a lovely sunny day and we tried the new lunchtime menu. There is a great choice and it is very reasonably priced. I had really great Welsh lamb koftas with sald and flatbread and my husband had a freshly prepared mozzarellla and veg panini. The portions were very good and the food was nicely presented. There are really nice flowers around the seating area which looks straight out to sea. I live locally and will certainly be a regular visitor now.

Family of 20 for meal. Food was great. Great night. Friendly staff. Everyone enjoyed. Would recommend.

Called in for a meal midweek with the family with no booking but they fitted us in although they were busy, the food was very tasty and the staff very friendly will call here again , well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Arrived Friday and enjoyed the beautiful beer garden overlooking the waters in the sunshine, food was home cooked fresh and tasty! Staff welcoming and accommodating! Brilliant and faultless so much so we came back for dinner after Snowden the next night! Couldn't recommend just one dish as they all looked and tasted amazing! Definitely recommend to groups, couples or families!

Popped in twice in the last few weeks for dinner. Had the steak both times, and was cooked lovely and to my liking both times. Bit of a mix up once with some side dishes but was quickly sorted. Reasonable prices as well.

Popped in for a drink and a bite to eat, very clean and tidy, lovely food and pleasant staff. Particularly good was the goats cheese and caramelised onion bruschetta, worth a visit.

Tucked away on a small street we found a little gem. We called in advance to see if we could park our motorhome overnight and got an immediate 'Yes that's fine' that was the start of a very warm and friendly welcome. The food was prompt and obviously very homemade. A comprehensive menu plus daily specials. I had the shepherds pie which was probably the best I'd ever had. The boss had veggie lasagne that came with fresh salad and garlic bread. She said delicious too. Even the kids pizza was homemade. Totally impressed. Thank you to the boatyard!

We came across this place on a walkabout during the evening. It was under new management. The decor was warm and inviting and the staff were friendly and accommodating. However, service was very slow (and it wasn't even that busy) and when the food came, it lacked flavour and was very basic. We ordered the ribeye at £18.95 and they said it was actually sirloin today which we said was fine. When it finally arrived it was a very poor cut of sirloin and definitely not work £18.95. We brought this up and they gave us a discount and were apologetic. Perhaps the new management were still finding their feet, but we wouldn't return.

We came here for a carvery on the 9th of April and it was the nicest carvery we've had as a family, far better than the one we'd had at another pub a couple of weeks before. Would definitely visit again and highly recommend, great value too

Went on a Sunday for lunch with my wife. We arrived a little before mid-day and the place was quite cold, so left our coats on to await our food. When the food arrived it was hot and tasty, and portion size was similar to other establishments in the area. The staff were friendly and polite and seemed to be happy to be there. By the time we left the place had warmed up enough and if it had been this warm on our arrival it would have felt much more comfortable.

I booked this as a last minute approach for my brother and his mates who were staying up near me, they were the only place available and so so so friendly as well, I believe I booked this place about 2 hours before they arrived and the lady I was on the phone to was so patient whilst I was switching between calls of herself and my brother. Rooms looked clean and ideal and it's set in a lovely location perfect if you want something quiet!

Brilliant place to eat, we were only staying around the corner so it was perfect!! the staff were really friendly and food was brought out promptly. Really great place to eat, we thoroughly enjoyed it.
