Our third visit this time to celebrate my wife's birthday. Beautiful day sitting on the balcony eating lovely tapas overlooking the Severn. Nice cheerful staff great food. Can't fault it.

We booked having seen numerous “dog friendly” reviews where infact this restaurant does not allow dogs inside. We were stopped on the stairs and offered seating outside on the river that was not very inviting or a room in what appeared to be under the stairs. Shame as we had heard good things. NOTE the last dog friendly review or otherwise was in 2021 so not sure if the situation had changed since. Obviously it is a restaurant’s prerogative to not accept dogs but it would be good to provide this information as we had travelled from Cornwall and were unable to find anywhere else of interest in the town.

We sat outside by the river as the weather was sunny. A lovely spot sit and the tapas was very good. The staff were friendly.

Visited following recommendation. Staff were lovely and attentive without being too rude. The food was not really what we expected, we had the Kings feast , I would recommend something else, it was ok but wouldn’t choose this again

My husband and I tried the tapas deal where you get 10 dishes for £25 each. We were told on arrival that the chef really likes to be creative with his or her dishes! We were thinking this is good, we love trying different things….. we were highly disappointed as all 10 dishes were so simple, anyone could do them at home!! We had things like a stuffed mushroom (I hate mushrooms), another mushroom dish which just had garlic and herbs on it, pitta bread and dips, a very basic salad, potatas bravas (this was the worst as it had no sauce on it just a sprinkling of paprika on it…..) that is NOT potatas bravas, just chopped up potato!, calamari which tasted like it had been frozen and was very rubbery, halloumi, beef pizziola (which absolutely tasted just like bolognese)! There were a few other dishes but overall the whole meal was so disappointing and so basic! This is not being creative! So for £25 EACH we left feeling cheated and won’t be returning!

We ordered the unlimited tapas on a whim and were so impressed! Every dish that came out was so favourable and tasty. The bruschetta was the best that we had ever tasted. The cocktails were delicious. We look forward to returning

I love tapas but this was I sort of British take on tapas which, in my view, didn’t quite work. The texture of the pork skewers was unpleasant and cardinal sin, they had mashed potato in the croquettes instead of just a thick béchamel. Staff were lovely though and nice atmosphere.

Had a wonderful afternoon here. Sat on river terrace (best to book). We had 2-4-10 cocktails which were really nice and tapas- all of which was very tasty. Service was excellent- we were never without a drink. Would definitely return!

As regulars here at the Boathouse, we cannot fault any aspect of the experience. Food is excellent, Drinks always good and very fairly priced, service is impeccable! A big shout out to Niamh and Zoe who regularly looks after us, always chatty, smiling and happy, Nothing is ever to much trouble! My wife and I yesterday attended bottomless brunch with my sister and two friends who we haven’t seen for over a year due to the pandemic and safe to say we were so well looked after, fed and very well watered! We passed Upton by boat and ordered the take away : the tapa mix with 11 different tapas for £25.Luckily just for 1 person .We had actually a couple of meals for 2 out of that.Amazingly tasty .Generous portions. We will be back !

Great food and very good portions. The food was really tasty, we have approx 6 x tapas across two people and one drink each, the meal was good value for money. Expect to pay approx £25-30. Definitely recommend!

Children aged 9 and 11 loved the calamari and hand cut chips. We also persuaded them to try some of ours too, they liked the tempura prawns. Sat on the river front which was lovely. Friendly and helpful waitress.

Delicious lockdown takeaway delivered slightly early following a telephone call to ask if that was ok. Exactly what we ordered, beautifully cooked and great value for money. Looking forward to returning to personal visits for the friendly atmosphere but, in the meantime, this was a great alternative.

During lockdown the Boathouse is offering takeaway and delivery at weekends. On Saturday we had gourmet burgers which were excellent and then on Sunday, steak and Guinness pie with a very tasty mash and onion gravy which was really tasty and filling.

Ordered home delivery of tapas tonight from one of our favourite restaurants in Upton on Severn. Ooh, yum yum, tasted amazing. Food arrived hot and on time. Chicken flambe and mushroom bourginogne were particularly tasty. Thanks to all at The Boathouse for keeping us going in these weird Covid times!

I can't say enough about this fabulous place! A fabulous experience from start to finish. All the staff were delightful and so knowledgeable about the food. Totally relaxing atmosphere in such a beautiful spot! The highlight though has to be the food, the tapas was absolutely exquisite and could not be faulted, all clearly made from fresh produce and cooked to perfection. The attention to detail was spot on! Excellent value and service too! I cannot recommend The Boathouse enough... and have booked again for next month! Can't wait!

We booked a table here last Thursday for 2. When we got there about 16 people were already seated, so we waited for a table to be cleared. The waitress showed us to the table and said she would bring us some menus.Over 35 minutes later we had received no menus, no food and no drink. We left feeling very snubbed and annoyed.

We stopped for an early Sunday evening meal at The Boathouse. The tapas were delicious, and the service excellent. We had a very enjoyable evening and I can only imagine how lovely this place would be on a warm summer's evening.

We ate at The Boathouse during a 2 day stay in Upton Upon Severn. The service was excellent staff were very attentive and we were made to feel welcome. We had the Greek Platter Grazing board and added some more tapas dishes which we selected. Food was lovely and good value. Would eat here again and highly recommend it if you are in the area.

Have eaten here a few times lately for breakfast and lunchtime, excellent food with great service, various offers available, sometimes you may be able to eat out on the boat, well worth a visit if you are in Upton!

Me and my husband booked in for a meal for 21:30we arrived early and got show to our seat upstairs . I had a cocktail hubby had a pint lager which was lovely . Decided to go to this restaurant after recommendations.Food Was ok but the service was not.Specifically asked the waitress for Two separate bills.She said that was ok but when we asked for the bills another member of staff said they don’t do separate bills for one table..Also some of our table wanted the 11 dish platter but we were told everyone had to have it or no one could.Totally unacceptable & definitely would not recommend & will not be returning.

Confused! Visited on a Sat late afternoon and asked if we could sit on the boat for food and drink - told by staff that you could only have drinks on the boat and no food - however people eating on the boat, thought the decision might have something to do with it being late afternoon however couple arrived after us and seated on the boat and ate food - so come on guys make you’re mind up! - tapas and drinks average but a nice view I’m sure if you weren’t squashed on the terrace!

Went for an anniversary lunch. Booked a table on the boat on the river - a new venture since our last visit. We love tapas and we love the Boathouse, but being on the boat was an added extra. Having recently become vegetarians we were able to order a good range of delicious vegetarian tapas platters. Since lockdown we have only been to a few restaurants, but this is by far the best.

Booked The Boathouse for lunch with friends visiting for the first time since lockdown and had been hoping to sit on the balcony with river view but the weather had other ideas. Still, we were offered a table directly inside the glass doors in the well spaced out top floor restaurant. The menu was a really comprehensive and varied selection of meat, fish and veggie tapas dishes all at £6.50. Salads were also available. The four of us all chose two each to start and with extra bread and olives. Lamb tagine, whitebait, sea bass tempura prawns and so on - all delicious and in the event quite enough for us. The service was very friendly and efficient the wine good and we finished with various coffees. Having lived in Upton for the past eight traumatic months it was so nice to finally try this place and it will definitely become a favourite.

Fantastic! We ordered the kings tapas which is 11 mystery dishes that get brought out to you when they are cooked, once you’ve finished them all you can reorder any dishes you really liked. The drinks menu was absolutely fantastic too and had a few different gins I hadn’t had before. We sat on the upstairs balcony and the view was absolutely amazing, it was a hot day so we felt like we were on holiday. Will definitely return as the food was brilliant, we had no faults at all. Our waiter Rhys was absolutely lovely too, he couldn’t do enough for us, regularly checked we were ok.

I’ve dined in multiple restaurants in Worcestershire & for me The Boathouse is unrivalled. It’s location is stunning with amazing views of the river Severn. Plenty of outside seating both on the balcony to the restaurant, and on the grass terrace & boat opposite. The food is exquisite & very reasonably priced. The joy of tapas is a lot of different flavours & you can eat as little or as much as you want. The people who look after you are all delightful & very attentive. There’s a huge range of both alcoholic & non alcoholic drinks including draft beer & lager. Do book, especially at weekends, as unsurprisingly it is a very popular venue. I promise you that you will not be disappointed visiting this charming venue

Not only is The Boathouse situated in an idyllic location, it has everything you need for a superb all round dining experience. The food is of a very high standard and served with friendly and helpful advice to help you choose options. The choice of drinks is also excellent and especially the variety of wonderful gins - again served with knowledge to find the best one to suit your individual taste. You can tell Kyle has a great passion for making you enjoy your stay and we would highly recommend - look forward to our next visit.

We had a great evening here for our wedding anniversary. There were 4 of us and we chose the King Tapas for £25 a head. The food just keeps on coming and then after 11 courses you can chose to reorder any. We also took advantage of the cocktails offer - 2 for £10. We sat outside near the river but there was also seating inside, on the balcony and on the boat. Lovely food and a unique setting.

Visited the Boathouse for lunch after hiring a boat from the nearby marina for a few hours on the river. I'd booked a table to be sure they could accommodate us and had checked it was OK to have our dog with us. We opted to sit on their moored barge and we chose to order the 5 tapas for £20 - great value for money, tasty and nicely presented. We also ordered a bread option which consisted of lovely olive bread served with pesto, oil and sundried tomatoes in oil - really yummy. Staff were polite and helpful. IWe'd recommend it.

Sunny Sunday afternoon so we looked at various places to lunch and fortunately chose the The Boathouse boat itself as we fancied tapas for a change, to eat on the water is a bonus.The '5 tapas for £20' seemed good value and was delicious and the portions are generous. Nice house wine too.The young staff are a delight, enthusiastic and efficient.What a lovely discovery, we will be back asap.

Yet another amazing meal from Kyle and the gang. The Tapas is to die for. Super clean and friendly service. Great spacing between tables, felt safe and looked after. Cannot recommend highly enough. 10/10.

We are so pleased we didn't have to miss celebrating our wedding anniversary at The Boathouse as we were able to have a tapas take out instead!The food was as delicious as always and there was plenty of choice. My particular favourite is the lamb tagine and my husband really loves the chicken in creamy sauce with vodka. The portions are very generous and there was plenty left for the next day too.Kyle and his team are really going out of their way to help the local community at this difficult time and we hope that the locals continue to support them in turn. If you haven't tried tapas from The Boathouse you really are missing out on a treat!

Had a delivery from The Boathouse as an Easter treat. Although we have eaten at the restaurant before we’ve never had a take out or delivery. The food turned up within 5 minutes of the expected time and the driver was polite. The food was still red hot as it came in an insulated bag. The flavour was just as good as eating in the restaurant with a variety of dishes. Excellent value. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Boathouse to anybody that likes quality tapas.

As a regular customer of the Boathouse, Kyle and the team have adapted to provide a call and takeaway/ or contact free delivery service! offering the normal superb Tapas but as an eat at home option.... Also available is the cocktail and takeout beer/ wine menu! Great as always and ideal for a treat in these strange times! Keep up the fab work! The locals of Upton are grateful!

The Boat House has recently started to offer an excellent takeaway service with a variety of delicious tapas dishes, salads, side dishes and desserts. The menu changes each week so it’s great to be able to try out different dishes each time. The food is cooked to the same high standards as when you eat at the restaurant and portion sizes are very fair for the price. As a regular customer of the Boat House, we love the new takeaway service that Kyle is offering and feel it’s a very welcome addition to the restaurant and bar. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the takeaway to anyone who is looking for a feast of flavours!

A very pleasant spot serving a good selection of Tapas and lovely cakes and sweet deserts. The coffee is excellent as is the beer and if your favourite is gin then there is a wide choice to suit everyone.

The venue and atmosphere was good overall. The food was well cooked, simple and served well. This was a large family gathering and, whilst some of us were local, others had travelled some distance. Sad to say the evening was spoiled by the behaviour of two other customers who chose to verbally abuse and swear at a senior member of our party which was upsetting for her. This drunk and abusive lout was reported to the landlord who placated us but then continued to serve the oik with more alcohol when he had clearly had enough. Not good enough, frankly. Would hope a manager would prefer to have customers eat in a non-abusive atmosphere.

Had a set meal as part of a large group - this was a main meal of the day, not a snack. Comment from one person was - "I'll have to go and get a Kebab on the way home" Another was "that was pretty appalling for an evening meal". For my part, I'd never had Tapas before so didn't know what to expect, but having to get up in the middle of the night at 03:30 after going to bed so hungry I could not sleep until after something else (I can't think I've ever had to do that in my life before), was a very disappointing experience. I'll know for next time if there ever is one, that I need to go there when I'm already full up. Plus side, coffee was very nice.

We visited the marina on a quiet Friday morning with a service user who has severe autism. The cafe only had one other customer. The service user was a little vocal and the staff were very rude towards us and stated “you are going to have to stop her from shouting”. We were put in an uncomfortable position due to rude staff so we decided we had to leave. The staff just watched us leave and did not give us an apology and rude looks as we left. WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING.

We ate several meals at the Anchor and we were always satisfied except for one occasion on a Sunday lunchtime when the beef and lamb had run out and we were only left with roast chicken, but the meal was lovely.

Probably the best place in Worcestershire for tapas. We went at lunchtime and had 5 tapas for £20. The size of each dish is adequate for 2 people and there is a good selection on the menu to choose from. We had some bread with oil and pestos before we embarked on the tapas and we were both really full at the end. All were cooked freshly and were delicious

If You fancy something different the Boat House taps is excellent but the King Tapas will fill you up . Staff are excellent and so accommodating. A must try is the Upton Upon Severn gin

Perfect riverside position, but sadly without the va-va-voom required for a tapas bar. Food OK, big portions for genuine tapas (those of you that will be aware of proper Spanish cuisine will understand!), beverage and dessert choices limited, lavatory facilities very basic (like school loos) and not very clean. Waitresses were lovely, male manager very arrogant and didn't treat his staff with respect, it was quite cringworthy sitting there whilst he was berating a young female waitress. Needless to say we will not be returning.

I went to the Boathouse during a visit to Upton On Severn, we had tapas, the food was of good quality and served quickly, there was also a good selection, recommended.

We arrived for lunch (4 adults and a 10 month old) and immediately was asked if we wanted a high chair for the little one. The staff couldn't been more helpful, explained the food as we had never tried tapas before, 10 dishes for £20 was very good value. There was an accident when the little one knocked over a full glass of water, which the staff immediately cleaned up with a smile,(accident do happen). We were told that the food would come out when it was ready, which was fine by us. It was freshly cooked and tasted wonderful. We will be back.

A huge thank you to the Boathouse team for helping me to give my husband a really lovely Birthday surprise treat. The food was lovely as always, the cod cheeks were particularly delicious. The relaxed friendly service complemented the whole feel of the evening. It was a surprise Birthday party meal with friends and family. I have been rushed off my feet but Kyle and his team made it easy to set up with the minimum fuss and delivering a perfect evening that hit all the right notes. Thank you.

The Boathouse, Upton on Severn, Friday 26th October 2018

This is a nice place to eat in Upton on Severn. The Restaurant is on the first floor with a bar downstairs and is spacious and overlooks the river, as you might expect from its name. On a chilly night it was warm and comfortable and the staff were cheerful and helpful.

We went to the boathouse 15th September 2018.

Arrived for lunch on a damp, windy day to find that the proffered menu was cold dishes only. Asked about hot choices and an extensive tapas menu then came, although we were told that “you have to ask for it”. Glad we did, as everything we tried was nicely cooked and tasty. Calamari even had pieces that resembled squid (unlike the rubber tubes you can find elsewhere). Would certainly recommend for hot tapas.....just make sure you ask for the menu.

What a recommendation from our B&B; host. The food is freshly cooked to order, delicious and the staff serve with professionalism and knowledge. Have I mentioned the rums and gins?!!

Very good quantities, excellent food, service very good, only minor bit was being served 7 courses within 10 minutes, but we had been warned in advance this could happen. The bar is a pleasant place to be, and there was a good atmosphere.
