The Boathouse at Boulters Lock in Windsor and Maidenhead

Sunday. As we all know can be extremely hectic for the staff. However, there is no excuse for taking drinks orders and then either forgetting them ,or,in our case knocking off and not passing on your order to the take over duty staff. When it did arrive,nobody had given a thought to dealing with the drippy bottom on my glass. FFS I don't even do that at home.

We had the most amazing roast dinner ! Tasty potatoes and wonderful gravy!! Washed down with a delicious bottle of Malbec . Dan, our waiter was amazing . Very helpful and extremely friendly. He can come back to ours for my salted caramel apple crumble anytime!

Truly shocking! Came here for our 6 year wedding anniversary breakfast, pancakes were undercooked, poached eggs were undercooked. We had to chase down the waitress three times for the cheque. Seating area was grubby. All that it has going for it is the view.

We had our 40th wedding anniversary meal with 20 friends and family. The Boathouse team worked hard with us in advance so we had a great table with lovely views of the river. The food was great and they coped flexibly with the demands of a large group from latecomers to the differing needs of a large age range (2 to 92!)

It's getting rather expensive especially for drinks after 7.00pm. Desserts not great .. small and again expensive for what you get. Service is usually good but can vary on time of day and who is in charge.

Excellent restaurant that I never even knew existed whilst living in Reading. Service was excellent and bested only by the food. Wait staff were also excellent.

Food was really delicious and the atmosphere was great (it was also probably just a sunny day tbf, but regardless i had such a great time). The only reason why this place lost one star was really because of the pricing. eating here will definitely blow a hole in your wallet, and you might have to live off meal deals for the next 3 days. It is a posh restaurant in a posh neighbourhood so my wallet and i came prepared. Still an amazing place with amazing food! will definitely come back again

My fiancé and I had a lovely evening here. We came in to celebrate our engagement and anniversary. For starters, we shared halloumi fries and roasted aubergine. We had the wagyu steak with polenta chips and a rich green peppercorn sauce. Even though we were stuffed, the staff surprised us with a complimentary chocolate brownie and ice cream for dessert, beautifully presented with “Congratulations” written on the plate. Such a thoughtful touch! We were also given a glass of champagne each on the house, which was so kind and made the occasion feel even more special. Huge shoutout to Jake, who looked after us the entire evening — he was incredibly professional, friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and we’ll definitely be recommending this place to friends and family. Thank you for making our celebration so memorable!

Beautiful & stunning restaurant. Food was absolutely delicious and the right amount on the plate. We were given the best table facing the river ❤️. Allergies were taken care of, deserve 10/10 for that..thank you Emily for ur attentive service. Definitely visiting again 💯💯💯💯💯

Waited 40 minutes for starters and another 30 minutes for meal course, only 2 of us! This is the third time of awful waiting times. Won’t be visiting again!! Several friends have said the same. Shame.

It's ashamed in a beautiful place and location. The food is simple RUBBISH.

It’s somehow scruffy and quite rickety. It looks like is not managed, quite dirty as well which is really a shame as it used to be great 3/4 years ago. I’m not sure why they don’t do more of an effort! It’s such a good location. Service is Ok so it’s food. It’s just the general sense of scruffiness that brings it down!

Thank you for the great service! Yesterday, I wanted to wait until the rain stopped, so I asked the manager if I could sit at one of the tables. Even though everything was booked, I was still able to sit and enjoy the view for 20 minutes while drinking a beer.

Went here for drinks on a unny, Sunday afternoon. Great location as always. Drinks were fine, the menu is extensive, but didn't eat here this time, but will be back. The aspect over the river on a sunny day is awesome. They have lots of space, but it does get very busy, so book a table if possible

A beautiful restaurant in a fantastic location! The Boathouse at Boulters Lock in Maidenhead impressed us with its great atmosphere right on the Thames. We were there for dinner in spring and the view was simply wonderful - but in summer with the terrace it is definitely an absolute highlight! The food was excellent. My steak was cooked to perfection and the selection of daily specials made the decision really difficult. The combination of excellent food, friendly service and the idyllic location makes this restaurant a real insider tip. Definitely worth a visit – we’ll be back!

The service could have been better. Waited 10 minutes to be seated and it wasn’t packed. I might have just caught them on a bad day. Outside of that it is a lovely venue with beautiful scenery. Definitely going back in the summer.

We visited on a Saturday evening, and it was quite busy. The gentleman at the front (I believe his name was Michael) was warm and welcoming, making sure we had a table reserved for the next hour. As we waited, we enjoyed our drinks and the stunning view. The cocktails were flavorful, with a great variety of options. Now, onto the meal... it was absolutely exceptional! The steak was cooked to perfection, and the portions were generous. I was so impressed that I almost ordered more. I can confidently say this was the best dining experience I've had. A big thank you to the staff, management, and chef for their excellent work. I will definitely be back and will happily recommend this place to others!

Little date night for Mum and Dad and the news is good. Initially, I was a little disappointed on arrival to realise the fine dining establishment was now a gastro pub, hmmmm, no choice now, the baby sitter was booked. We needn't of worried, a warm greeting.....no, a really genuine and friendly welcome, quickly sat for presentation seating cocktails, both delivered the cocktail experience, especially the silky smooth espresso martini, a promising start. Waiting staff staff were fantastic, happy to chat, spend time at the time at the table. The dishes were mostly a high standard with some minor 'hmmm' dishes that didn't meet with the overall standard of the night. Let me be clear, these were minor things that weren't to our taste, but perfectly good. The little sausage number was one of them, a bit anemic and with a bit of caremilastion, a touch of honey and they would of been knockout. Wine selection superb, settings were fantastic and in Summer, Al Fresco dining will be a premier experience.

We were booked to DJ at The Boathouse at the weekend. The room is a great size for a party with the bar really close to the dancing area (great for DJs!). The staff were really helpful and friendly and we all had a fantastic night. We had a great view of the river from the DJ booth too!! If you are looking for a venue in Maidenhead for your party or wedding. We highly recommend The Boathouse at Boulders Lock!

Had a very nice meal here with friends. Staff were great. Food was very nice, only downside was the gravy, more like from a packet than home made, otherwise everything was very good.

Fabulous baby shower for my daughter in the private dining room. We all had 2 courses from the Sunday roast menu. Food was great, service friendly and attentive. Highly recommend

Excellent, we turned up at 16:15, they were serving all day, dog friendly and really enjoyed to food, 1st class. Only think is parking but carpark 200yrds up the road.

Had 13 sit down for my Father's 90th Birthday. The staff were really helpful from the outset. Embarrassingly we changed numbers ahead of the day, asked for 'slight' changes to a couple of the dishes and left our booking a bit late. Nothing was too much trouble. Great communication by phone and email. Service and food are top notch!

We had a really good breakfast here on Saturday morning. the location is nice next to the river and the food is good. Not at all busy so we did not have any issue with getting service or not leaving quick. we will come again

The location is fantastic, but our breakfast experience was disappointing. Despite no queues and staff not being particularly busy, it took 10 minutes for anyone to approach us, even after making eye contact with several team members. We ordered a Full English and American Pancakes with Maple Syrup & "Crispy Bacon." The Full English arrived without sausages, and the "crispy bacon" was pale, undercooked, and unappetising. The presentation was poor, as you can see in the photos. For the price and location, we expected much better quality and service. Extremely underwhelming and disappointing overall.

Consistently excellent! I've lived in the area and frequented The Boat House for 5 years and I can honestly say that I've never been disappointed. Best location in Maidenhead, the staff are always friendly and present, tables are always clean and the food is excellent! As an interior designer, I also appreciate the beautiful interiors. Will keep going back!

What an incredible beautiful place. Spacious inside, nicely decorated, with beautiful view. Pleace where you really want to stay and enjoy the views. Food was good , lovely presented , service was polite, only one thing on minus, was a little bit too cold inside. Heating it up in theorising would definitely sort out the issue :)

Had the misfortune to be a guest at a meal which I had ti attend after having horrendous visit myself and promising never to return! Nothing has changed, apart from cliental which has gone decidedly downmarket. Even the basics, no where to park so you have to use the riverside car park and walk a quarter of a mile each way, with the weather at this time of year it a very miserable experience especially in the rain, or frozen and windswept! Park anywhere else and you are pretty much guaranteed a parking ticket, yellow lines and permits strictly enforced at all hours around this area. Attitude of staff not very satisfactory, complain and even talk to manager Michael who has no interest other than to fob you off, doing so in a way that leaves you under no illusion that its just lip service and sling your hook! On the positive side my host and the rest of the party discussed never returning there again for one reason or another, price, cleanliness, staff attitude, general vibe and just sub standard in so many areas in their views. So very hopefully I will never have to endure visiting again.

Had our annual Christmas get together, just the 15 of us, so nice and quiet (er...), we were well looked after by the friendly and patient team at The Boathouse – a lovely setting, decent food, warm atmosphere and another great night. Thank you!

Went for a birthday lunch on Sunday, Grace was a fantastic waitresses- thorough and prompt service, kept the table tidy for us with a great demeanor even though it was a busy section. Although no booking notes, she still brought a birthday plate!

The location is cracking, beautiful by the Thames, lovely building and relaxed vibe. Beef Wellington was delicious, not convinced by the spinach mash, which was very pappy. The chocolate fig dessert was very tasty, proper dark chocolate and rich. Plesant dinner out.

Visited last weekend and waited over 20 minutes for 3 coffees. Very slow service every time we have visited for drinks outdoors. Table next to us waited 40 minutes for their breakfast to arrive and the other table too, chasing for the whereabouts of their order. Rude waitress too, who made us feel as if asking for milk was hard work... Lovely place but service has become really slow the past few visits.

I have tried for over two weeks to book a meal for a party of 10. One party member has an intolerance so wanted to check the options available. I contacted them twice and they were going to get someone to call me back which still hasn’t happened. Today I received an email saying we haven’t heard back from me so closing my enquiry. What absolute lack of efficiency and communication, I am now going elsewhere. Totally awful service!!!!!

Lovely setting, good food, good service, and a pleasant atmosphere.

Really nice atmosphere, food was decent but the service was not great. We waited 30mins for 1 starter which was prawns on sourdough…definitely shouldn’t take 30mins. We then waited a further 1hr for our mains. When we asked one of the waiters about our mains, he didn’t seem too pleased and almost looked annoyed that my partner tried to get his attention. During the entire meal, not one staff came over to attend to us except to drop off the food or take away the plates (which often took 10-15mins).

Amazing food and drinks. Service was so fast, we were not left waiting. Staff are really friendly. Good atmosphere, great music and clean Restaurant and Toilets. Perfect for a romantic date night. We are coming back for more!

Lovely place, bar/pub in upper floor with great views over the Thames, brasserie in ground floor with great setup towards the river. Usual drinks, good cocktails but the food menu both in the bar and the brasserie could use something new/different that isn't the same as everywhere else in particular some vegan options.

Shared a lovely meal here. staff were fantastic,very helpful with allergy info and all round just very nice. Enjoyed the music being played but it was also at a low enough volume to hold a conversation. Food was delicious and very fairly priced. Looking forward to our next visit.

We are here for our 20th anniversary (actually got married here) and the service was incredible! The staff are so kind, attentive and lovely. Thank you Xavier and team! We got there early, the 14 that turned up were refused food, seemed a bit weird as it wasn't very busy. One of the best curries I've ever had though.

Lovely place, beautiful setting. Lovely and warm inside with great view of river. Service very good and attentive. Unfortunately my aubergine burger had a large slice of aubergine with completely inedible skin on it so had to remove the skin. Not a major problem and our waiter sorted it out for us to make up for it so will still definitely be returning but will avoid the aubergine burger unless its thoroughly roasted or chopped.

The food was fresh, the service was quick, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. An excellent place to enjoy a delicious meal with friends or family.

Booked in to have a Sunday roast,as we thought it would be agood idea. Arrived abit earlier to find agood few tables available. Ordered 2 roasts one Beef & Chicken, The beef was not very tender considering it was very pink,the chicken was very tender,the roast potatoes where not good think they had sat too long keeping hot, the other thing that I always find is that the food is served on cold plates. Paying over £20,for a roast it wasn't good value . Think if you are local to this pub you are looked after abit better. No one came to see if our meal was OK.

We booked a table for 6, celebrating a friends 70th birthday The atmosphere and venue is great, beautiful location on the river. The service was also great, attentive, listened to dietary requests, advised and the menu. The menu is a good selection, varied and one of those with so many good options, you might struggle to chose what you want. The specials were good too! We had three courses, which is unusual as some of us are not real dessert fans, but it really was good! We will be back and will bring more family / friends. Although we live an hour away, it could be worth the drive

This is a great venue sitting on the Thames with great views inside or out. The menu has a great range of old favourites mixed with more modern fusions. Been 10 times or more and never disappointed. Service is always very nice.

Often you are led to believe the world is all bad with the constant flow of news but sat here for breakfast, I realised we live in a beautiful part of the world. Sat eating breakfast and a great orange juice watching the boats and badges approach and leave the lock. Just lovely.

Came here for brunch with my wife and friends on our anniversary weekend. Lovely location but what on earth was going on in the kitchen? Took over an hour of chasing to get the simplest of meals which arrived dry and tasteless. To top it off, before serving the food, the waitress even came and placed a sign on our table to say we had to be gone by noon as the next sitting was arriving. Farcical. The "Jimmy Butler's sausage patty" arrived like a tiny McDonald's cheeseburger, missing the sauces etc and nothing else on this large serving plate. Eventually they brought the sauce about ten minutes after the only mouthful on the plate had disappeared as we were so hungry. Other meals were the same. We were made to pay in advance at the bar so could not even withhold the service charge. Over £50 for four tiny cold snacks. I wouldn't recommend eating here.
