Chutney House in Windsor and Maidenhead

It’s very much disappointing to see what this restaurant is serving on the name of Indian food … flavourless food… while owner on the floor and we did notify the staff about the food ...( we did not intend to complain but the staff insisted that they will inform the owner and he will come and speak to us) the staff notified the owner …. but the owner did not even bother to find out what is wrong why the customer is complaining instead he completely ignored us.. anyways very bad experience .. I will say that if you love Indian food please don’t spoil your taste buds by eating in this place.. and on top the arrogant owner…

Friendly staff, tiny portions. Three tiny tikka chicken bites for a starter at £8.60 and I mean 3 pieces of chicken bitesize with a few leaves. We asked 4 times for water and were also drinking a bottle of wine so not being tight, and we had a tiny carafe eventually bought over. The food was tasty and a nice clean room but the portions were on the miserly side. Good service.

We visited this restaurant to celebrate a colleague's birthday, and it was a wonderful experience. We had another event earlier, so I booked the last available slot at 11 PM. To our delight, they were incredibly accommodating and allowed us to extend our celebration beyond their regular working hours. The staff was exceptionally friendly and professional, making us feel right at home. The food was delicious, reasonably priced, and the overall atmosphere was fantastic. We truly appreciated their flexibility and hospitality. Thank you so much for making our celebration memorable. Highly recommend!

I recently visited Chutney house and had a mixed experience. While the atmosphere was pleasant, the flavors of the dishes didn’t quite match what I was expecting from authentic Indian cuisine. Some of the dishes felt a bit underseasoned and lacked the rich, bold flavors typically found in traditional Indian dishes. Additionally, I found the prices to be on the higher side for the overall experience. While it wasn’t a terrible meal, it didn’t fully meet my expectations for the quality of food and value.

We had an absolutely fantastic dining experience at Chutney House! From the moment we walked in, we were captivated by the beautiful decor, which perfectly set the stage for an elegant yet cozy evening. The service was impeccable—attentive, friendly, and perfectly timed. To start, they brought out a small chef’s compliment of toasted pita-like bread. Then came the poppadom with delicious sauces - a mango chutney (delicious) and a mint sauce with the option to add red onion. A great way to begin the meal! We ordered a starter called Torki Chat. It was a burst of flavors and was very unique. Highly recommend! For our mains, I had the butter chicken and my fiance had the Rogan Josh. We added a garlic rice, plain basmati rice and garlic naan. Everything was outstanding! Full of flavor and the perfect amount of spice. A previous review mentioned the portions being small, but I found them to be just right. Everything was perfectly balanced, and we left completely satisfied, with happy bellies and lingering flavors that we’re still thinking about. If you’re in Windsor and craving top-notch Indian cuisine in a gorgeous setting, this place is a must-visit!

Simply excellent, from food to service to cleanliness, we couldn't have asked for a better night out. Pro tip, ask the staff for food suggestions, they are very helpful. We had the lamb champuran and it was exquisite. Their after dinner cocktails were also fantastic.

If you're looking for a restaurant that combines the thrill of spending a fortune with the excitement of still being hungry afterward then look no further. We were the only diners, yet somehow our food took longer to arrive than a delayed flight at Heathrow. The only thing generous was the bill, which had more digits than the amount of rice on my plate.

I found chutney house is one of the best restaurant in that are. Staff are very friendly, food also delicious, their drinks are good too. Mr Ibrahim was served us and we wanted to say a big thanks to the chefs as well. Overall I recommend this restaurant for any visitors.

Chatni house is one of the best restaurants in the Windsor . All food is very good quality and environment is very well and staff manner is fantastic.

Had one of the best experiences of dining. The food was authentic and the spices were on point. Some restaurants puts way too much spice but not chutney house. The lamb champaran was so delicious it melted my mouth. The setup and decorations were fabulous as well. You can clearly see the owners had put an effort to make the place look more comfy and luxurious. The service was top notch. They kept asking of my needs without invading my personal space. They also suggested me on the food also. People should really check out this place.

This is not an Indian Restaurant. Its Bangladeshi cuisine everything has sugar in it, Naan, Raita, every single dish is sugar based. The Menu writer and the photographer is probably the only creative person. This is not authentic Indian food.

Just had ordered some food and it’s Tasteless . No taste to Chicken curry . Paid £27 and disappointed. As an Indian I know the food tastes . Will not visit again for sure . The table set up is good and looks good Environment.

The amount we paid did not reflect on the quality of the food. The food lacked in flavor. We got charged extra for requesting more sauce. After complaining, they took it off the bill. How can you eat anything with a tea spoon of sauce. Only ordered starters and left with a bill of £140. The portions were too small. I would get more from a happy meal. I would never recommend this restaurant. Better off getting a Tesco meal deal.

Terrible experience eating here. We had only starters as we decided to eat elsewhere for mains. Portion size is very small for the money charged. We were charged initially for asking for more sauce which was removed from our bill after discussion. We paid £140 just for 3 starter platers, amritsari fish which was only 3 very tiny pieces of fish and lamb chops which arrives cold and unflavoured. Would not recommend.

I really wanted this to be a lovely meal but it was far from it. Couldn’t figure out why an Indian restaurant had salt and pepper on the table. It’s because everything was bland. Such a disappointment - we had 2 different chicken dishes and the meat was tough. Curry was bland like they forgot half of the spices. And the most frustrating part was the store bought naan bread with no cheese. I wouldn’t even suggest trying it for the price. It was £80 for 2 people and I left half.

Staff member was amazing provided us with great service. The food was honestly so tasty i will definitely be going back compliments to the chefs they’ve done a wonderful job, I would recommend the butter paneer and garlic naan to go with it. Thanks to the guy serving us today he was great, this is the day that me and my partner visited 12/11/24 management have a look at this and please give this guy some appreciation.

Disappointing Experience | Not Recommended | A Taste Disaster, Not Worth the Try | Rubbery Prawns | Watery Gravy From the start, the quality and taste were extremely disappointing. The prawn dish had a rubbery texture, and the fish—just three small pieces—was subpar and unappetizing. After we ordered, the staff casually asked if we would like some papadums. Assuming they were a complimentary starter, especially for the kids, we agreed. To our surprise, we were later charged £4.90 for only two pieces. The main course continued to disappoint: the gravy was bland, and the chicken was tough and far from tender. We left unsatisfied and unfulfilled. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Indian food. Please don’t judge Indian cuisine based on the food here!

Beautiful decor. 5 star service. Absolutely outstanding food. My partner and I live in Windsor and often eat out. I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while and finally we made time to head last night. As soon as we walked in, we were welcomed by very well dressed and polished staff. The SMELL from the aromas of the food immediately filled us with smiles. You can always tell from the smell of food if it's going to be good! We ordered the fish for starters to share whcih was packed with flavour and extremely light too. Lovely. We also were complimented with the most delicious crispy fried breads before we got out starter which was a nice surprised and this paired with the bottle of Merlot we got (which was very very well chosen), was perfect. We then ordered one of the chicken curries and a lamb dish which came in a little clay pot. Very unique. Paired with fluffy steamed rice and plain naan, I have to admit, it was a perfect dinner. We will be back for sure and highly recommend any foodies or those who aren't, to give this restaurant a go. You won't be disappointed! That's for sure. :)

We went on a Sunday evening so understandably they weren’t expecting a large group. Though we called before going. Service was disappointing. The waiter took the order from half the group and disappeared for a while until we called him back to place an order for the rest of us. I’m not sure how much help he had in the kitchen. The food was amongst the worst Indian meals I’ve ever had. Quantity in each serve of starters were shocking - Three pieces of chicken! The biryani was simply putting it, not biryani. It was some kind of chicken with a layer of white rice covered in half cooked naan for presentation.

Simply amazing! One of, if not the best curry I've ever had. Lots of flavour, really tasty! Ibrahim was fantastic really attentive and efficient. Will definitely come back!

I took my family to celebrate my son’s 5th birthday. They really went above and beyond to cater for our needs. Nothing was too much trouble. Cannot praise the food and atmosphere enough. Highly recommend it and would definitely go back when we are next in the area.

Worst food experience. Big no for indian pallet, we ordered paneer hydrabadi which was just a gravey with schezuan sauce, the tandoori roti was heated in oven , over priced for rubbish food

Lovely food, good portions and nice waiter. Some of the dishes were a little spicy, others mild, but all of us guests were very satisfied. Perfect fit for Norwegian palates. 😊 When even the toilet is clean and nice, it's perfect.

Don't go... Waste of money... We had 10 days trip tk london and edinburgh. We ate indian food once daily while we were on trip. One of the worst indian food award goes to them. We ate on August 29th - disgusting veg platter, super spicy veg thali, chole/channa were less than average. I don't even understand how they got 4.4 stars... either people has no sense of indian food or these reviews must be fake and bought.. Next door there is a south indian dosa house, they were way better than this place.

While travelling for work, I always seek out local dining options to support nearby businesses. This time, I was in the mood for Indian food and was pleased with my choice. The restaurant was quite empty, with only one other family dining there, which was unfortunate given the excellent food and the friendly, professional service I received. My only concerns were that nearly all the dishes I ordered were very hot, and the menu didn’t mention this. Additionally, biryanis typically come with a standard gravy, but it was missing on this occasion. Despite this, I highly recommend this restaurant; in my opinion, it offers great value for the price.

Is it Indian food that this restaurant is serving? Being an Indian , I'm very much aware of what is Indian cuisine all about. Typical restaurant which is serving some unknown cusine with ingredients used in Indian food and cooked by Bangladeshi chefs. Nothing much to say. I will not go again.

I love my curries, and this place is right up there for just that. Food is excellent, not greasy like most of the Indian restaurants you go to. Service was excellent, and the staff are very polite too. We was never rushed to leave, and the courses came out at a nice slow pace. Will be back again !!

Two adults, a teen and two children. The two kids shared a wrap and an entry. We ordered chicken korma, lamb bhuna and lamb tika massala and saffran rices and plain naans. Advice from the waiter was good. The food was tasty, authentic and enough. There are a lot of items in the menu. This restaurant meets the quality expected for its price.

Great atmosphere, the place seems to be popular located in one of the main streets near Windsor Castle. Our host Ibrahim really did make an effort to make us feel welcome. The food, especially the starters, was of high quality and great taste. Overall experience was very positive. We recommend the Virgin Mojitos. 😊

Food was okay at best but feeling a bit sick after it. The service was bad. There was no one in the restaurant when I came in, I had to call out twice and waited about 2-3 mins. Also had to ask a few times for simple things, ie water. Wouldn’t be back here.

We recently dined at Chutney House for what was meant to be a special occasion meal. Our reservation was for 5 pm, so upon arrival, the restaurant was empty, and therefore, we would have expected better service. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The food was far from authentic Indian cuisine and lacked any seasoning. The butter chicken was raw and chewy, and it was definitely not cooked thoroughly. This was a major disappointment and a health concern. The service was extremely slow and unresponsive. We requested water for the table multiple times, which was never brought out. Additionally, no cutlery or serving spoons were provided despite our repeated requests, forcing us to use teaspoons to serve our food. This level of service is unacceptable. The fizzy drinks we ordered were watered down and flat, forcing us to switch to bottled cokes instead. Overall, Chutney House failed to meet our expectations on every front. The poor service and subpar food made what should have been a special occasion quite disappointing. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Indian food or decent service.

Not a great experience - starting with a rather sullen greeting when we entered and ending with a sullen nod in scant appreciation of the tip. Honestly the food wasn’t anything to write home about. The service was terrible - the waiter clearly wasn’t having a great day. Finding out what was gluten free on the menu was just painful. The atmosphere was not optimal with the music looping about every 10 minutes - not to mention a crying child next to us who was placated with a loud video game by the mother - not the restaurants fault I know - but it just robbed the last semblance of a Friday evening meal of anything redeeming. Would I return is always the test for me. Solid no!

The service and ambience of the restaurant were wonderful. However, our family did not feel that the flavor was authentic Indian flavor as we have lived in Asia our whole lives and have eaten very authentic Indian food made by various friends from India. I felt that the dishes had an especially sweet flavor and were not true to the flavors of the spices that should have been used.

Amazing food and the service from Suzon was first class! We’ll definitely be back :)
