Warm and welcoming service here. Lovely location and busy for the Sunday Roast. All the trimmings served with a smile by Imogen and the team. A decent meal and a good find.

Great to have the Boaters as a local pub. Frequently bring the family here when they visit and it never disappoints. Quieter on my last visit, but only to be expected in October. Still, service was on point and the cheeseburger was delicious. Thoroughly recommended.

What I love about this place is that it makes me feel like I'm in a time warp. The Victorian architecture, the ambiance against the river, the calmness away from the crowds and the natural environment make you feel in a very peaceful environment. My only criticism is that the prices are high and you can't spend enough time there. This puts a strain on your budget. It is still my favourite place here in Kingston 👑

One of our favourite local pubs. Come on a sunny afternoon and watch the sunset from the small balcony facing west. It's truly something.

Amazing venue with stunning views of the canal. Shame they stopped the live music (the only reason I would go). Bring back the live music!

Great food, atmosphere and river location. However, female manager very abrupt and abrasive manner when asking a member of our group to see his id when he ordered a beer with his meal. He was 19 and sat with adults. Appreciate it was her right to do so but she was very stony faced and hostile and it was as if he was guilty! She needs to work on her people skills. Otherwise a lovely evening and our waiter, a young guy with dark hair, was charming, attentive and full of charisma

The Boaters is one of my locals and have been going here for many years and can honestly say I’d rather go here than any posh restaurant in London. The food is fantastic and the roast dinners are excellent. Best I’ve ever had! Staff are super kind, warm and friendly and you get to know them and make you feel like you’ve never left.

The food here is nothing short of exceptional. You can tell everything is fresh and not frozen, located in a beautiful area of Kingston. The staff are very warm and welcoming and gave me and my family a wonderful evening. I had the steak and it was cooked to perfection! Thank you!

We were wrongly accused of doing class A drugs in the toilet despite watching a member of staff who was off duty go into the cubicle before us…. Another person was given a burger with literal mould on… I had a fish finger sandwich which was dry and tasteless.. also almost 5 hours after eating it I was sick… not sure if it correlates but due to the atrocious lack of hygiene standards in the kitchen I wouldn’t second guess it. Giving 5* for atmosphere because the wedding party made the atmosphere and before shift change the bar staff were amazing, accommodating and polite, feel some staff training is needed for people skills and food hygiene.

Really good Sunday lunch. Roast beef and all the trimmings. Good beer, good service, and a sunny day overlooking the river. We will go again.

Had Sunday roast lunch. We ordered the beetroot hummus starter, which is something I wouldn’t have ordered myself but my friend did and it was really yummy. Sunday roast chicken with a side of cheeses cauliflower was also ordered, and everything was cooked perfectly with the chicken being tender. As I don’t eat pork / beef, they gave me veggie gravy. Shame the peach Melba was out. Instead, we ordered sticky toffee pudding and profiteroles. The only issue with the food was profiteroles tasted not fresh and dry/hard. Everything else was delicious! Good gin and tonics. Service was also great. Great atmosphere on the riverside too!

This pub has a lovely setting on the Thames, however, on a Bank Holiday Monday the food left much to be desired. The fish and chips were possibly the worst we have ever been served: the batter was rock hard; the fish was dry and there was very little of it; the chips were overcooked. Had we not been there as guests of a family member, we would have sent the dishes back.

My cousins from Essex came down to visit as a minor family reunion, the boater gave us a great table on the river which was nicely shaded in the 30degree heat, I had the flat iron steak which was sublime! But the real stand out was the scotch egg, as it still had a runny yolk!! The waiter with the nice eyes was a delight and I think we may have embarrassed him a bit when we pointed this out to him.

Really gorgeous pub location. Drinks and food are great and atmosphere is always lovely. Have only been in the summer but I imagine the indoor pub is lovely and cosy in winter too. One of our favourite local spots.

Wonderfully tasty Sunday roasts. Proper good pub food with a generous selection of beers and wines. Cannot fault the service of the friendly team. And a perfect location and atmosphere to top it all off. Would recommend and will definitely be back.

We walked from Surbiton to have a nice roast on the river. Ordered 2 chicken roasts. I do not think there was more than 125g of chicken on the plate. Absolutely ridiculous small portion of chicken versus the sides. I managed to only have a bit of potatoes and carrot before the chicken was finished. When I complained I was told this is portion that is served. Have observed 3 others portions come out which looked double the size of my chicken. Pathetic answer from the kitchen and the manager. If the plate is under. Do not send it

Great location, good choice of beers, a very underwhelming Sunday roast served lukewarm (the Yorkshire pudding was very nice). The table of 3 didn't get their dishes together. Not a great attention to details and no match to their reputation.

Fantastic location as by the river. Staff was friendly enough. However, our experience with food was terrible. We paid over £55 for 2 burgers including 1 plant based burger and a children fish and chips with soft drinks. The chips were not good at all of very poor quality and all dried and overcooked. Overall presentation was very poor as if it was just chucked in a plate! This left us very disappointed.

Came to the Boaters in after a walk along the river for refreshing pint! The beer gardens atmosphere was so wonderful, beer was perfect! Had the baked camembert and it was excellent and for the price i got exactly what i paid for! All the staff and hosts were so welcoming and gave excellent service! will definitely come here again and recommend to friends! :))))

This is my second review of this lovely riverside pub. So nice I had to do it twice! Went in for some late night nibbles and some well earnt lagers (not an IPA man anymore). Service was just divine with food to match. Big shoutout to the manger Niki, and Johnny behind the bar. A credit to Greene King! I also dabbled in a (rather large ;) glass of Rosé that my wife had last time, utterly fabulous. Once again would hugely recommend, with an atmosphere and view as good as that, it’s a no brainer. I mean, come on!

We visited Sunday , had a quick drink on the balcony and then tried to eat on the outside in the river view area , only to be stopped by the girl running the seating book. who was un willingly to clear a table so we can sit and eat ... why ? its a restaurant ? clean the tables and prepare them for new customers as people leave has always been the practice in any place that expects to be a success ... just an absolutely ridiculous and lazy attitude. If pubs who are apparently on their knees and closing left right and centre and struggling and need the support of the public , cannot be bothered to make an effort , then I can not be bothered to make an effort to spend my money there .. turning away £70 quid a time must mean this pub is rolling in cash.. Not the only river view pub in the area .. To the manager , just don't bother writing some bull in response .. you have one chance with me! and thats gone , we will not be back we found better options elsewhere .. where they are happy to seat you and seat you were you want to sit . !! just 0 marks from me ... the attitude of that girl was just laughable for some one in a customer facing position , just another stupid entitled millennial who has 0 understanding of what their job actually is ...0 personality and 0 manners .. the day this country left the EU , has spelt the end of decent Hospitality staff in this country .. this place needs to triple its efforts to get to the same minimum standards others offer in the area ..

Didn't eat so I can't comment. Didn't find the bar staff that friendly. Tried to get a conversation going. Totally blanked. The beer was good and the setting was fabulous. Really lovely pub.

Such an idealic position, right on the river front surrounded by the beautiful gardens of Cadbury. It is extremely popular, despite the day or time. Great garden, plus added bonus of a narrow balcony looking directly over the river. The food is exceptionally good! Enjoy.

We have been to the Boaters inn on many occasions, however we found that the way they serve the food on Sunday was very poorly presented and the portions were very small for the price they charge, We will not recommend anyone to eat there on Sundays. We have been here during the week which was not perfect but was acceptable.

What a lovely night at ‘The Boaters’ what could be finer than sitting on the balcony with my wife with the sun setting enjoying great food and ‘fizz Friday’ - £20 a bottle of Prosecco such a steal. Great food, great staff who couldn’t have been more attentive, great atmosphere and great value with the ‘fizz Friday’ deal. We are incredibly lucky to have this pub on our doorstep so thank you to Sarah and her team who made our visit so enjoyable- Paul

Only popped in for a brief drink and to use the little boys room after a tiring trip down to Canbury Gardens. The staff were very ample in numbers, pleasant and polite. If the sun had come out it would've been a place to spend an afternoon of it there.

Decidedly average...Tasteless burgers, limp salad, etc. Seemingly coasting on their reputation at the risk of providing sub-standard food.

This riverside pub has a separate dining area with table service. It offers a good selection of mains, including some fish ones. The dining area offers a good view of the river with plenty to watch. Service was friendly and quick.

Nice enough pub in a great location, but £5.15 for a pint of orange juice and lemonade is very very wrong.

Went for a Sunday lunchtime roast. Service was okay. Took a while for someone to take our order. They'd run out of house white! What? The roast beef was tough (being given a steak knife should have been a warning!) but it was pretty tasty. A bit overpriced though. The excuses of being busy because of good weather (it wasn't particularly good) and the football (the table was booked at 13:30, the football was at 17:00) are laughable.

Very nice pub in a really great setting especially in the summer. The food was not cheap but I don’t mind paying as long as it’s good, and this was all high quality stuff. Great service too!

Horrible experience as after we ordered the food they asked us to change the table saying that our table was already booked ( there was no reserved sign put on the table). We were moved to another table and they told us that they will send our order to this table. Later, the waiter came saying that we had to change the table as this table was also booked. Once we had changed the table they put the reserved sign on the table Lack of organization.. Bad customer service. Absolutely dissatisfied with the experience.

The food was fine, however the service was at best awful. We were given 3 separate pieces of information to get a table. Eventually being sat exactly where we didn't want to sit in an empty pub restaurant. There appears to be no organisation or real interest in people's pleasure. After an hour the table we wished to sit at was still empty. Vary poor service.

Lovely pub right on the river. The service was a bit slow on a really busy Sunday but it's understandable considering the crowds! The atmosphere on the covered patio was lovely and the food was delicious.

What a fantastic meal! The Boaters was problematic a couple of years back but there seems to have been a bit of a transformation. Welcoming attentive staff, a really great menu and the food was out-of-this-world! It's on the pricier side of pub food but not expensive and well worth it.

Went for a Father’s Day meal and we all had well cooked, generously portioned roasts, plus lovely desserts. Service was great across the board from quite a young team. We also enjoyed the live music.

Tried popping in for a quick drink on a Saturday afternoon, the place was moderately busy. Ended up leaving after a 15 minute wait at the bar. The bar staff were completely disorganised and didn't know how to manage a moderately busy period.

We had a lovely evening seated in the covered and heater warmed terrace with a lovely view of the river. Our meals were delicious and my date especially enjoyed his pudding ( pictured below) . The staff were friendly and attentive.

Perhaps because it was located in a small park next to the Thames River, there weren't that many people.

I feel bad writing this as it's a local business and I would always be very supportive of any local businesses, but to be honest the service was shockingly bad in here, the food didn't take fresh- an overwhelming taste of 'freezer burn' , if that makes sense and in spite of it being in one if the loveliest locations and being really beautiful, it had no atmosphere. I don't know if it's because the service was so bad and the food very mediocre, but just no. I will say though, the Yorkshire puddings were absolutely incredible! Do what you do to your Yorkshire puddings and you'll be onto a winner!

Food was ok. Steak sandwich was ordered well done but arrived pink and could have been warmer. Vegan enjoyed her meal more. Guinness was ok too. Service was friendly and good.

I came from Greece and visited the pub I can say it was really nice experience. Nice place the stuff was nice but extra tip for the youngest girl I don’t know her name but was super friendly and good on her job ! I really liked the view next to the river, the green from the trees around you 10/10 nice location. The food was nice and tasty .. the only “bad” thing I have to say is about the price .. I found it a little overpriced for the food. But overall everything was fine .

Service initially good but went downhill rapidly afterwards. Food took a very long time for the amount of clientèle there at the time. It then arrived cold was then reheated with no real apology or explanation for the unacceptable service.

I am a very regular customer. Love the location. Love the service. Love the dog-friendly environment. However, you have taken off the menu my favourite choice, the delicious short-rib burger, and replaced it with a fast-food-like underwhelming cheeseburger. PLEASE bring back the short-rib burger sometime soon!!!

We had dinner here. Two adults and two children. It was ok. The food came quickly. I ordered "Plant based wellington" and asked when ordering whether the plants were mostly nuts. i.e. was it a tasty nut roast. The person serving me didn't know so I just took a chance. Turned out to be fake beef. Would anybody choose pretend meat over tasty vegetarian food? I guess they must. I didn't eat mine. Kids meals were ok. Roast chicken also ok. It's a lovely spot down there by the river under the plane trees but from the pub garden, you wouldn't know the river was there. They pipe music through speakers in the beer garden, where the are plenty of ash trays. You could be anywhere. I'm a humbug but it turned out not to be where I wanted to be. Only when we walked out of the gate and could see and hear the river did we remember what a lovely place we might have been in.

Really nice location by the river and that alone makes it a nice place to have a pint. However food was disappointing for the price -small portions, not much flavour, and very oily. I'd come back for a drink but not for a meal.
