The Boat Inn in Birmingham

It was a bit confusing at first but then we were tired and wet from 7 hours of cruising and locks. One bar to place drinks orders, the other to place food orders. They have a very limited selection of non alcoholic or alcohol free beers. We ordered biryani’s which came in a bowl with a lid on that looked like a pie? Never seen it served like this before and it may not have been a problem if my “lid” hadn’t been burned. The curry itself was flavourful and spicy which was exactly what I needed. Not the flavour I associate with biryani but delicious all the same. The chunks of meat were large and there was enough.

It was the first time I went. i will be going back to the guy behind the bar saw I was watching cricket on my phone, and he put it on the tv for me. Good place to go and watch sports the food the food was good too. A+ service 👏 👏 👏

Great little pub been meaning to go here for years but popped in for a pint today never had any food but I will be back

When the sun is shining, a beer on the edge of the canal is idyllic. Done great beers served here and I will have no hesitation in returning

A rustic charming pub by the riverside, unfortunately only serving food from a Thursday onwards. Good beer and nice people can't be too wrong though 👍✔️🤓

We have been visiting different parts of the west midlands with my grandsons, we googled this pub to stop for food, The place is spotlessly clean, friendly service on the bar and the food was really lovely!!!

Really cosy pub that does a nice desi menu. They looked after us well and prices are more than reasonable.

The food was delicious and the service was excellent as always. We had butter chicken and Desi Lamb both were extremely tasty. Would definitely recommend.

My first curry here at the Boat was superb. We had the mix grill and desi lamb curry and we were very impressed. We now know what real home cooked food tastes like. We will be back thank you for the warm welcome highly recommended.

It's been over 20 years since I last visited. passing it the other day so popped in glad it's still a lovely pub the alterations has made it better great point of bitter locals and stuff very friendly will visit again soon 👍👍

Absolutely loved the main course steak cooked to perfection 5* a little disappointed in pudding unfortunately could of been better! But overall great 👍

A friendly canalside pub. Plenty of outside seating (popular in good weather). All sports on TV (busy for football). Dog friendly (on lead). Regular live music. Food at weekend, check other times. Wide selection of gins, whiskies, vodkas and cocktails.

Stopped for a pint on a walk along the Fazeley canal. It was a beautiful day, so I sat at a table along the canal to watch the world literally pass by. I wanted a Guinness and was served by a very friendly, helpful and beaming bar person. Her colleague in the lounge was similarly friendly to those she was serving. I felt very special. The pub infrastructure is less memorable and in need of some investment. I would return for the service but not for the pub.

Haven't been to this little pub before, mainly because it's tucked away and I'm only in the area visiting family occasionally. Very friendly staff, food is fairly standard fayre but good. I had the lasagne, which was really good and very generous portion, hub had a burger which he said was tasty. Nice choice of beers and lagers and all responsibly priced, which is a rare commodity in this day and age. Would definitely visit again.

Nice pub good staff .we were walking the canal and dropped in for a coffee .don't think they get many coffee drinkers but the lady made us coffee .without hesitation and brought it to us great service .

A gem of a pub off the beaten track. Plenty of space inside and out. Plenty of scope for improvement, ie, some relevant historical pictures on the wall would be appreciated. Could do more with bar snacks, ie, ham or cheese cobs would be good

While doing the Warwick canal ring by narrow boat stopped here for a meal ,the service was excellent as was the food ,recommend this pub even if not on a boat passing by ,

The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the cocktails on tap are brilliant. It's worth the visit just for that 😊

Slow to take the order and prepare the food. The food itself was poorly prepared and tasted like it had been made in a hurry. I will not return to this pub again.

This was the worst pub food I have ever eaten. The toast for the club sandwich was cold and soggy. The filling of the sandwich was meagre and the bacon very fatty. The chips were hard and cold in the centre. We ordered 2 sandwiches. These took over 50 minutes to be prepared from the time of paying. The pub was not busy. There was no apology at how long we had to wait. The food was inedible but unfortunately there was no staff member around to inform of this.

Only stopped for a quick cider ,does nowhere sell a dry cider these days ? All branding & no substance sweet pop.

Stopped at the boat after mooring up beside it and decided to go for a meal....food was lovely and portions were large . The staff were really helpful and friendly. Definitely going back there again.

A nice little pub next to the canal, plenty of tables out front but only two out back, nice friendly atmosphere, there is a pool table, the barmaid was very friendly the food was delicious and a good price I will definitely be going back.

Not a very good place to hacmve a party food arrived very late

We came by boat and expected a run of the mill pub, but were quite taken by the menu - well, or better the food that came. The 'Filth Fries' were an unexpected light and quite tasty surprise.

Stopped here when on the canals. Staff all very friendly. A good selection of beers. We only had a lunch sandwich which was all ok. The lounge area is cosy and there are out door seating.

Had the fish chips n mushy peas ..the fish was light n fluffy with crispy batter ..piping hot .it was delish 😋. Had a takeaway as well .. crispy chick strips and burger 10/10 It's a lovely friendly pub Defo will visit again Well done chef Curtis 👌

First visit ever this morning. Together with 8 fishing friends from The Kingsbury Angling Club. We wanted to try out the canal which runs alongside The Boat Pub. However, as a 'Brucie bonus" we discovered that the pub opened at 7.00 a.m. for serving cooked breakfasts! As anyone can tell you, fisherman are nothing if not expert's on Full English brekky's.! I chose the medium full English at £5.75 which included 2 rounds of B&B or toast and a mug of steaming hot tea. The whole experience did not disappoint. I seriously don't think I could have managed to finish the "big Brekky option (there is a "small brekky" option also! We were all very impressed with the quality of the food and the welcome we were given. P.S. On a personal note I finished last in the small contest we organized (a new world record for me as I have been in last place for the previous three contests, god loves a trier!). On the plus side though I didn't need to touch my packed lunch and the Cornish Pastie was returned home unscathed. Check this pub out, fantastic value and couldn't fault it!

Great little canalside pub , unspoilt , staff are great and really knowledgeable on all beers , wines and spirits and if you like gin theres an absolute cornucopia of flavours to try ! Pool table for fun , great variety of snacks , very clean and tidy . Just get a taxi ir take the bus as you wont want to leave thid most friendly of pubs in this area 10 otta 10

Lovely quiet pub on the canal, the staff and landlady are all really welcoming, the locals are all friendly, they serve food too so very family friendly, I've been a few times, never been disappointed yet.

Been past a number of times on the boat and kept saying that we must call in one day, well today was that day. Lovely place, friendly staff and great beer. Difficult finding dark ales in the area but their Theakston's Mild was beautiful. Well done to you all

Had taken the dog for a walk and just wanted to pop somewhere for a beer and a bit of food. The food was fantastic, triple cooked chips and proper home made burgers not like the flat things you normally get. 3 years later... just ate here again. Menu has changed but wow... had a fantastic tandoori chicken kebab with flatbread and tziki.

Very warm welcome, great service & delicious food. The building is tired & not much kerb appeal but don't let that put you off. Definitely worth booking for food, we had the walnut & feta salad, which was absolutely delicious & the burger with sweet potato fries. A lot of care & attention is put into the preparation & service. We will definitely be returning to try other dishes.

Lovely evening, really welcoming. we had a family meal that was amazing, the food was Greek and delicious . Very friendly and helpful staff. What a hidden gem, wow. Very highly recommended.

It's ok I suppose. Not the classiest place I've been and canalside potential somewhat wasted as a smoking area with just 2 tables.

A cycle ride from Sutton to Curdworth was nicely interrupted With a drinks stop at The Boat. Covid rules strictly in place with majority of customers abiding by them! Great to sit in the sun next to the canal with a pint of real ale. Heaven

The service was brilliant and the layout/control was well handled during social distancing. I loved the table service whilst outdoors

Lovely, cosy family owned pub right by the Birmingham and Fazeley canal. Very friendly staff. Food is good though not served until after 4pm.

We visited the Boat Inn as we were travelling through Minworth by canal. What a lovely, warm, welcoming and traditional pub. Couldn't have been made more welcome by both staff and locals, food, beer and wine excellent. Try the theakstons mild. Deserves to be visited oh and dogs welcome. Good wishes to all staff.

We went to cider and sausage festival. It was very busy, had live music and very delicious sausages.

The boat lnn is a great place just by the river lovely and piece full.

Had a birthday get together for my mother...staff couldn't have been friendlier, fantastic buffet will definitely go back.
