I have been visiting the boat inn for the last year and half and cannot stress just how beautiful the pub, food and staff are! Nothing is ever too much trouble, they have squeezed us in when its been extremely busy and have always made us feel so so welcome. The manager kath runs a very tight ship and the staff are fantastic and very accommodating. I have no faults with this place. The kids love it here, especially the strawberries and cream haha! The food is incredible and I will not take my business elsewhere. Its a hidden gem with gem staff.. if I could rate 100 out of 10 I would. THANKYOU THE BOAT INN.

Rude bar staff (Kaitlin [-]). Rude manager (Kath [-]). Waited over 10 minutes in the rain to be taken to a pre booked table. Continued to wait another hour and a half for the meals we ordered in a not so busy pub. When asking about the meals and when they will arrive bar staff(Kaitlin [-]) was rude and snappy. Once food arrived looked as if it has been thrown on the plate, half the mixed grill was cold. Found hair in the mixed grill. Manager(Kath [-]) trying to order our kids around. Manager (Kath [-]) doesn't like and can't take criticism, Kath [-] also wrongly informing people I am on pub watch which is disgraceful and isnt the case.

While the “Eat out to help out” scheme is running we have taken the opportunity to try plenty of places that we’ve been meaning to visit for a while. Today it was the Boat Inn it’s a lovely place in a nice spot. The food was as good as I hoped, I especially like the black pudding scotch egg. However, I don’t know if they had staff issues today, because we had to wait forever for both starters and mains. There were three adults and two kids in our party, the adults ordered starters and mains and the kids wanted mains and desserts. It was 30 minutes before the starters were delivered which I suppose isn’t too bad, but the kids meals didn’t come until the mains, which were an hour later. 2 hungry kids for one and a half hours. Also when asked if we needed any more drinks we asked for another Diet Coke which never arrived until we asked two more times for. Then when the mains were cleared we had to wait for the kids desserts. We arrived at 3pm and the place was almost empty until we left so I don’t know what the issue was. But regarding the kids meals every other place we’ve visited always deliver the kids meals along with the adult meals. Apart from these issues, which I’m prepared to accept were ‘a one off’ its well worth a visit and the food is superb, so we will probably return to try the Sunday roast as I’ve heard it is tremendous.

02.08.2020. Table booked for 6.00pm after we ordered the starters didn't come until 7.00pm (one hour later) when we complained we got some lame excuse about a "back log in the kitchen". Then our mains didn't arrive until 7.30pm and all we ordered was burgers which when they finally did come the order as incomplete. You much at all costs NOT go to The Boat Inn at Pinxton. It's a dreadful place.

Visited The Boat Inn at the weekend. Extremely disappointed in the customer service. A member of staff shouted aggressively at a customer because her child had ‘thrown a boulder belonging to the pub’ into the canal. She humiliated the child’s mother in front of a very busy garden. Disappointing for a family friendly pub.Food was average. Far better customer service and food in the local area. Would not recommend.

I had a mixed grill and my wife had steak and ale pie. Brilliant. The mixed grill tries the kitchen because there are several meats. Mine consisted of a beautifully cooked sirloin steak. A flavoursome and beautifully cooked Gammon steak. A perfect chicken breast, marvellous and tasty sausages, black pudding and two perfectley cooked fried eggs. Additionally a lovely salad, chunky chips, mushrooms that exploded with juice and flavour in the mouth and onion rings to die for. My wife's steak and ale pie came with a whole jug of exquisite gravey, was succulent, tasty and tender. Also served with superbly cooked chunky chips and the most flavoursome petis pois. Great beer and a lovely atmosphere contributed to the ambience. Only micro criticism is that a piece of lamb rather than a chicken breast would have made it absolutely perfect for me.

Good food and value for money. Hard working staff that are friendly and polite. However, there’s simply not enough staff to cope with the number of tables, especially when there’s larger parties that have pre booked tables. Come on management, you have some good staff looking after your punters, but just not enough of them. We left after dinner, paid our bill and went. We’re did plan to have sweets and coffee, but got fed up of waiting. This is not our first visit, I hope that it won’t be our last as it’s a nice venue, but the competition is also good locally and there is no excuse for slow service. It did spoil a birthday Sunday dinner.

Arrived about 1pm on Tuesday 5th November with 4 friends to find that the restaurant was empty apart from one table with a couple eating. The waitress showed us to our table and quickly took our drinks order. We ordered our food which was a bit slow coming out considering there wasn't anybody else eating by now. My salmon was nice enough but the veg wasn't that hot and one of the others said her meal wasn't hot at all !Not once during the meal did anyone come and ask if everything was ok or did we want anymore drinks in fact I had to go to the bar and ask for someone to come and to the table. We decided to have a pudding, big mistake, 3 of us ordered Eton Mess and have never had one like the one served here. Ice cream, a few mini marshmallows and hard chocolate drops a few bits of fresh fruit and one or 2 pieces of merengue. We thought it was made up of bits they had got left in the kitchen. Another lady ordered the Sticky Toffee Pudding which had been microwaved to death, it was that hard she couldn't get it off the plate !We asked for the bill and complained about the pudding so when we checked the total they had taken it off.Forgot to mention that by the time we left we were all freezing. The radiator was on (just) when we arrived but by the time we left they were off so no warming welcome here.Such a shame because it's a lovely pub/restaurant . The customer service was terrible and the food not much better. I'm afraid this visit may be the last for these lunching ladies.

So we booked a table for 8 of us, we arrived to find out out they had forgotten and weren’t ready. Luckily the restaurant wasn’t busy at all so we got a table. Then we ordered food from the waiter he seemed nice enough. When the food started to arrive an extra pie was brought out which wasn’t ours then an extra fish and chips arrived to which we expect explained we hadn’t ordered that. Then my chicken skewers never turned up so they said they’re getting that sorted, I walk outside as I’m the only one at a table of 8 people with no food In front of them to hear them behind the bar talking about the chicken skewers. as I walked in asked were the toilets where to be pointed in the direction and told it wouldn’t be long for my food. 20 mins after everyone else had there food came out dry nasty chicken skewers to which I had to eat alone as everyone else had practically finished there meal. When the check arrived the bill was even wrong. I said take the fish and chips of as this was not ours and don’t add the chicken skewers they were disappointing at best. The very arrogant lady manager came over and tried to fob me off with saying they had made it cheaper for the wait to which I replied no you haven’t I ordered of the light bites menu so that’s what I would have paid anyways. Then to be told you didn’t tell us there was anything wrong, well if you had table checked the food then I would have the only reason the other food was checked up on was because they had to bring mine out twenty minutes later. Then the manager said well the best I can do is a 20% discount, what are you joking I said no it’s fine I’ll just pay it. We went to the till to pay off our separate food to then had to wait another five minutes for them to sort the discount which I never wanted but the manager had obviously told the bar staff to do it anyways £1.39 was my discount for a - Forgotten meal- 20 minute wait - Nasty dry chicken - Eating alone at a table of 8 People Absolutely ridiculous never had customer service like it in my life. Don’t lie or pretend to do customers favours when you clearly have done nothing and couldn’t seem to care less about the experience I had in your establishment.

Having been recommended to this restaurant we've now been several times over the past few weeks & really loved it. It's in a lovey setting next to the Cromford Canal with a nice short walk around the lake should you need to walk off the lovely food.Food wise, everything we've tried has been freshly made & very tasty -(they also have a pretty good veggie choice, which is important to me) - the drink prices are also very reasonable. My only criticism is that it seems to be a bit hit & miss as to whether you get what you actually ordered - last nights braised steak (ordered with chunky fries) actually came with mash & it's not the first time this sort of thing has happened - having said that my husband said it was beautiful and he enjoyed the mash!Would highly recommend a trip out to this lovely restaurant

First impressions were good, very clean, nice welcome and large interior. Tables are all plain wood which could be nicer but they look right for this place and are perfectly functional. Manager was excellent. Menu isn’t huge but it’s big enough, more important is that the food is good. Started with chilli prawns with ciabatta and it was delicious. Presented beautifully and really nice fresh salad with it. Only improvements I could think of would be an extra couple of prawns and a little more sauce. Then it was onto a burger (small one) and lasagne. Lasagne was one of the best we’ve had and the burger was huge for a small one, it was also delicious and also one of the best we’ve had. To finish it was Cafe Latte and Eton Mess. The coffee was nice but unexceptional, the Eton Mess was (I promise we ordered a small one) big. It was also delicious and had great vanilla ice cream. It was also presented beautifully on a wooden board (really), what a great idea. It too was (you guessed it) one of the best we have had. Bill was £36, which we thought was reasonable for two, two course meals and a couple of drinks. I suppose the real test is “would we go back”, oh yes, booked for next weekend before we left. I think this is going to become a regular haunt. I would add, that the food is definitely “restauranty” although the surroundings aren’t. But that would not put me off. Well done The Boat Inn.

We dined for Sunday lunch. Having enjoyed the food here some 3 months previously, we returned with friends, having told them how good this restaurant is. Disappointed to say that it wasn't to the same standard. The portion size was smaller, with less meat and fewer vegetables. Given the price charged for the meal, it did not reflect what was served up. However, the staff were always on hand and a credit to the establishment. May be a while before we return.

Came for Sunday lunch with family. I really hope this place is successful and I will return again. So please bear in mind my comments and rating are based on it being newly opened and wishing to constructively feedback to the owners make it even better. I would however definitely recommend a visit. A gorgeous setting and a lovely interior that is cosy and cleanA little disappointed with the limited menu - I’d heard the chunky chips are fab and the Sunday lunch menu just consisted of three different roasts; salmon or two veggie options. Or fish and chips (not on the menu but offered) It would be great to have had a sausage and chips or homemade pie and chips as a few additional choices. However, the roast lamb I had was amazingly tasty, beautifully cooked with a great selection of veg on the plate. The plastic bowl of cabbage and leek seemed random - either serve all veg on the plates or serve it all in sharing dishes (nicer ones than the plastic baskets though - they look cheap and not in keeping with the other crockery/plates/serving boards)Desert choice also not wide (4 options) but was clearly homemade. The sticky toffee pudding tasted nice but needs more toffee sauce on it. Staff were v friendly.

We were told about this fab place, but not being from Pinxton were wondering where we would end up. When we did find it we were pleasantly surprised. The place is nicely modernised with a real rustic feel . The staff were welcoming and the Sunday lunch we had at the spur of the moment was delicious and not expensive either.
