Had a lovely meal there yesterday at lunch time. We were a fairly large group. The food was lovely and the service very good. We will return.

A sad, sad pub! So very uninviting....changed for the worse over the years! Whilst the staff were good the pub was desolate. Will not be back...sorry! Avoid...

4* as it was a very quiet friday eve, so I was unable to tell what atmosphere/ service would be like if busy. The food was awesome, really tasty and plentiful, and couldn't fault it.

Held our wedding reception here, although it was a small affair. 2 +2 witnesses, the food, service and everything else was first class. Highly recommend to anyone who is looking for something that is simple and meets there needs. Well done and thanks to all.

I use to live in the UK but now my home is Australia. Every time I come back I visit the pub. Their food is always amazing. My favourite is the fish pie 😍

Got a nice welcome food was unbeatable the beef was so tasty tasty the best I've ever eaten and my family said the same we were all stuffed and the desert so beautiful and and morish you Can't ever ask for better thankyou to the chef and staff

For my father’s 78th birthday meal, I have to say the special sea bass was an absolute knock out! Thank you! Tip top personal service and a perfect meal. I look forward to my next visit. Five stars from me, wish I could give you more

Very good food and service. The Steak and Ale pie was excellent. Unfortunately our enjoyment was spoiled by two unruly out of control children who, we understand, were associated with the Owners, who seemed intent on wrecking a wedding display in the garden and generally running wild over tables and chairs.

Had lunch for the first time here today with my mum and little boy. We both had the lamb shoulder wellington and it was amazing! Best meal out in a very long time. The staff were really friendly and pub had a nice atmosphere! Will definitely be returning.

The food was delicious and home cooked the macaroni cheese was delicious my dad enjoyed this small roast and lovely garden too it’s first time eating here and it was excellent will be back

Very pleasant lunch after some of us had played golf. Entertaining conversation and a well filled pub with everyone enjoying themselves. Efficient service considering how full this pub was at lunchtime.

The bar staff give you a warm friendly welcome and they keep a very good cellar. All round a great quintessential English pub.

Went today with family. 6 of us had a brilliant meal, service was great. Food really plentiful and great quality. The pub is proper 17th century timewarp and loads of charm. Not a single complaint from anyone.

My friend and I visited during lunchtime service and were told that we'd have to wait a while - we hadn't booked. On asking how long a wait, the waitress consulted the kitchen and on return we were shown a table in a cosy room off the bar and our orders were taken. The wait for food was not as long as expected so we were pleased. The food was well prepared and tasty and filled us up and we were able to eat at leisure. We would eat there again.

Was in middle of 5 mile walk. Arrived just as opening. Decided to stop for a pint. Very friendly welcome. Started with a pint each but was advised sandwiches (served with salad and chips was a popular choice and often shared) decided to come in side for food and they we right about size of plate if food. Really nice atmosphere with lovely open fire blazing. As we left bigger dinners were coming out and if was not walking would Ave sat down again. Highly recommend this place.

We went for lunch and ordered a classic burger from the pub. The food was not cheap, but those burgers were wonderful! Service was efficient. (except for one chap who kept getting the orders and tabs wrong - maybe a newbie?)

Based on just the one visit but I found this to be a very charming family run traditional pub. More like pubs of old and less like the swanky ones that, though nice; are all too common these days. It has a proper family run feel. Mum and daughter serving. Regulars at the bar. But the food was actually spot on. I had bangers, mash and onion gravy with veg and it was banging! I'll certainly return to try other things. Hope the family there keep hold of it. It said so many pubs these days are big business affairs and not so many family run anymore

Lovely little proper pub. Like a classic British pub. The service was wonderful and the staff were on a first name basis with my grandad which is very sweet of them!

A really nice country pub with good beers and a solpacious garden. Personally didn't enjoy the music playing in the garden but guess that's personal taste.

Warm welcome, friendly staff. Nice to find a pub that hasnt been farrow and balled. Compliments to the chef... the fish and chips was truly delicious (Better than Rick Stein's, Padstow!)

I han't visited The Boarshead for years until yesterday for lunch which was a great decision. The food was faultless, fast friendly service and warm cosy atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Yummy food. I have been a few times for drinks in the garden which has lovely views. The macaroni cheese is delicious so is the hunters chicken. Also the Sunday roast is supposed to be good although I’ve not personally tried it. Portion sizes are substantial and all looks amazing. Nice smiley friendly traditional pub.

Had lunch with a pub group today. Our previous visit was very positive. Even more so this time. There were four things on the menu I immediately liked, and a few more when I actually saw them. I salivated when I saw the smoked salmon salad, but still enjoyed my main course, and will have the salad the next time. Prefer this to the Neville Crest and Gun just down the road. We will probably go back for Xmas, in my case sooner.

All too rare nowadays to find a non-chain, friendly proper local pub, friendly welcoming staff, and a great chicken madras! Wished I lived here so I could make it my regular

Just stopped off for one with the family. Staff and locals were welcoming. Also the kids loved the dog, cat and fish tank.

We dropped into The Boars Head Inn, as part of a 10 mile circular walk from Lye Green. This was an Easter Sunday. Unlike others already seated, we opted for the fantastic ploughman's, and hot mixed seafood platter eaten out in the garden. A warm welcome, and the food exceeded our expectations. Definitely one to visit again.

What a find. Fantastic, friendly pub with oak beams, roaring fire, buzz of locals chatting with background music. Food was delicious I had their homemade chicken and ham pie and husband bangers and mash. Desserts were chocolate brownie, best pudding I've eaten in a long time. Food is ok 'pub-grub'. Great building with some amazing views

After a long walk and a bus ride to get there we were welcomed with mulled wine and hot food despite the late arrival for lunch. This was my 2nd visit there I previously visited in summer and spent an afternoon in the company of a live band and good hospitality. This pub is little oasis in the countryside round Crowborough.

Warm atmosphere, excellent food and Harvey's ales.
