The Blue Whale in Rotherham

Passed this shop many times but dcided to test it out today had 2 large cod to eat in the car it was first class and packaged up with forks very pleasant staff and not a bad price.

What a chip shop we travel from Birmingham just to go and have a blue whale fish its to big to fit in the tray they cut the ends off and but them on top of the fish even the chips and fish cakes superb would recommend this chip shop to anyone it's probably the best fish and chip in UK might even be in the world its that good the staff are very polite friendly and the gaffer a lovely chap.cant wait till the next time

I visited here today and the staff were incredibly helpful, 5 stars for friendly customer service. Excellent haddock too.

I don’t usually like to critique a business but I’ve just had haddock chips and peas , based on the trip advisor score I fancied this from here as I pass often . Sorry but this is the worst fish I’ve ever had , and sadly peas were solid . Not enjoyable at all . I’ve called in at Harworth , tickhill , langold and Lindrick so was hoping this would be good . It wasn’t , and being the dearest at £8.60 I’m so gutted ! the fish was all skin and batter , little meat , greasy to feeling sick ! …. I personally don’t be coming back but please double check what you serve , it looked awful when plated so I’m sure they’d see the fish was poor …. £8.00 wasted as ate only some chips !! sorry guys it really was awful 😢.

Having moved to this side of rotherham we have visited the Blue Whale on a number of occasions. During our many visits the service has been excellent. Always pleasant and nothing is too much trouble to ensure you get the food of your choice and served just how you like it. Their Special deals offer great value too. We have now opted to order our food on the App and this giving you a discount and you are able to put special requirements such as lightly battered and sauces served separately. You can order, pay for your food and put the time you wish to collect and its done and ready for when you arrive. Keep up the great work and hope to be eating your food sometime soon!

Situated 10 minutes off M18 J1 also main road through to A1. Been coming here for 15 years+ and I have never had a bad meal yet. Food is always cooked fresh, hot and beautiful. Menu is extensive and not expensive. Service is always quick and owner is polite. Even though we no longer live in the area, this is always our 'go to' plaice when we are back. Would always recommend and go back every time

Drove here especially for my son who normally loves the fish and chips. We got a special as we normally do but today it was shocking. No idea what kind of fish but it smelt rank.won't be coming again.

Although I live twenty minutes away,it is definitely worth the effort to go and fetch home there fish and chips.

I’ve travelled up and down the U.K. for many years and found the Blue Whale to be one of the best Chippy’s in the U.K.. They have won multiple awards and it is easy to see why. Even their Kebabs are made well. Something I wouldn’t normally touch from a chippy, however they are very tasty. They are Family orientated and the owners and staff are always friendly. You always get a loving welcome when you enter and how are you. I would highly recommend if you are in the area or just visiting family and/or friends. It’s a nice little treat, they do portions to what you require and they do a great cod/haddock special.

What a fantastic place. Top class food, always freshly cooked. Servers always helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble for the. Great value for money too.

On a major thoroughfare from the A1 to the M18/M1 with on street parking right outside the fish cooked to order and the potato chips were cooked to perfection. The staff salt and vinegar for the customer if asked for wrapped and it fills up quickly so be prepared to wait.

Called off Wednesday with 6 biker mates £4.60 cod chips and mushy peas , best value we have found . Nice sized fish good chips ticked all the box’s . Nice friendly staff . This chippy will definitely get another visit .

We used to come here quite often however as we travelled out of area we haven't been for a while. It used to be excellent, amazing staff, really good quality and super low prices (too low but we didn't complain about that lol) however we decided to visit again last week and what a disappointment.

I have been to the blue whale a few times and I must say their kebabs are the best I’ve tasted in Rotherham and Sheffield and it’s great that a establishment offers a menu for people on a diet I give it a well deserved 5 stars

Drove past needed lunch saw it was busy for a chippy at lunch time... stopped in and it’s clear why. It was some of the best fish and chips I’ve had in a very long time. Light golden batter, lovely hot chips. Absolutely loved it. £4.50 for small fish and chips. Highly recommend it

We have lived in the area for many years and this fish & chip shop is still one of the best you find anywhere in the country, Recently refurbished a great clean look always a very high standard, The owner and staff are very friendly the range of food is good, Always worth a look at the specials board the quality is always good, This "CHIPPY" is top notch.

What can you say about a fast food shop, actually quite a lot, fantastic owners, fantastic staff, lovely modern clean establishment, that as just had full refurb, and the most tasty fish n chips, kebabs, etc also accommodates slimming world members to with syn free food, you visited the rest now visit the best

I travel from tickhill on a regular basis to this shop,it's the best fish and chip shop by a mile in this area.The staff are always nice and polite and it's good value.the fish is always cooked beautifully as I always have my large haddocks lightly cooked.

If ever you fancy fish & chips or anything delicious for that matter this is definitely the best chippy around, so much choice and definitely the best chicken kebab I've ever had from a chippy, staff are so friendly and can't do enough for you, just brilliant!

La calidad de la comida es siempre un 1 estándar. La limpieza del establecimiento es irreprochable y el personal es eficiente y amable. Siempre hay una cola en la ballena azul, el mismo que podrá experimentar en Whitby o Anstruther, pero la comida en la ballena azul es siempre vale la pena esperar.

We visit this fish shop every week. The food is consistently good and at a reasonable price.Portion sizes are good and staff really helpful.

Cannot fault anything about this chip shop. The food is always great, the portions big and the staff really friendly and welcoming. Would not consider going anywhere else and would definitely recommend it.

What a tea fish and chips the fish was delightful cooked to perfection and chips were spot on and the size of the portion was massive you could have fed a small army I will going back here .

Very clean, the owner, staff are always ready with a smile, and nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent and the portions are plentyfull, worthy visit.

I love this place. Not a big eater so the kids meal is plenty for me. It has chip fish sausage and side all for a very good price. Staff very friendly

This is the best fish and chip shop by far, the cod is huge and so white inside, the batter is lovely and crispy on the outside. Chips are big fluffy inside and crispy on the outside and for £4 for a small cod/chips and mushy peas or gravy or curry sauce you can't go wrong...they are also far from small!They have a large menu but I just stuck to the traditional fish and chips as they were so delicious - would definitely recommend.

Stumbled upon this place one day whilst passing through the village after shopping. I had passed many times but decided to call in for a portion of chips and mushy peas. I was not disappointed .Oh my they were delicious...My hubby had fish and he said it was also delicious. I have since called many times for our lunch/dinner. we have also tried the kebabs which are also delicious. My daughter has been and friends too on our say so...none have been disappointed...So if you fancy some good fish and chips the Blue Whale in Maltby is the place to go.The staff always have a smile on their face and the food is ALWAYS delicious and hot.

we stayed at a lodge in rotherham so didnt know the area at all travelling 200 miles from home .we called at this fish chip place with such a friendly young girl serving,the haddock was excellent as so were the chips ,if only we had such a lovely shop back home .thankyou to all the staff there brilliant supper b4 heading home next day

It's a good fish and chip shop. Maybe the price of the chips should come down and halve the amount!.

I have to start this review by saying that as a Family we are long time patrons of this establishment, and therefore may be a little partial. However in the 8 years that we have been visiting the blue whale, roughly once a fortnight, I can honestly say that I have only registered a disappointment once which was immediately taken on board and corrected.The staff are friendly efficient and super quick. In fact this Fish Bar is currently in the Guinness Book of Records for the fastest fish wrappers in the world!Cod, Haddock, Fish Slices and cakes are all available along with Chicken, kebabs and various pies with lovely chips all cooked and overseen by the lovely Nikki in this spotlessly clean Fish Restaurant!If you are in the area do give it a try and don't be put off by the queue. If they are queuing out of the door (a recommendation in itself) it really doesn't take more than five minutes of your time to get served and be on your way.Excellent cooked food, choice and service

Called in for two lots of fish chips curry sauce and peas. The staff are so friendly and very fast at serving and the owners always have a smile. The chips are cooked perfect and the fish is thick and white and taste delicious. The main reason I decided to put this review on is because the business has been going years and the service and food is still the best for miles around here. And if you like kebabs this is the place to be.
