Popped in whilst staying in the area on a Wednesday night- good timing as it is Fish and Chips night - excellently cooked. The place was busy - not surprising considering the wonderfully kept beer too.

A recent change of management has resulted in my using of this firm old favourite of a pub once again. Its a good chance I am the Victor Meldrew mentioned in another recent review and explains why I find the new team (well some previous staff as new tenants) so agreeable, with an absolute no quibble approach to the quality of their proposition. The small selection of real ale ensures tip top freshness, clarity and taste. A good mix of other drinks at sensible prices. Fresh fish & chips weds, with burgers & bits friday. Closed Tuesday. A great place on a cold night or wet weekend, in fact great at any time. So glad to see the Do-Dahs are firmly back in place.

Dropped in for a burger last night. Cracking job, full of flavour and topped with real cheese, an improvement introduced by the new landlord and landlady. Tried the fish and chips on the previous Wednesday which were as good as I’ve tasted. The beer has improved too as has the atmosphere which is that of a friendly, well-run, dog-friendly local hostelry. If you’re in locality give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.

New Landlady. Excellent Beer (the bitter is fantastically well kept which is sadly a novelty in this day and age) and snack selection. Proper Boozer for drinkers in a beautifully nostalgic building, in a pretty, tucked away part of the world. Even has its very own "Victor Meldrew" lurking in the corner. Bang on!

Enjoyed the food and drink - I had the cider; my son had the beer and he loved it! So we stayed for Sunday lunch (full roast) which was incredible value - I didn't need to eat again until Monday lunchtime (well nearly!). My son had the vegan option which he described as superb!

The Blue Dog is under new management and it’s amazing! They now offer fresh pizzas in their pizza oven which are so tasty and the balsamic cheesy garlic bread is sensational. They new bar and decor is wonderful, the beer garden is well spaced out with cover, I will be visiting a lot and can’t wait til we can sit indoors and have a drink as the new staff are so friendly and welcoming. Thank you Blue Dog

Steak and ale pie, mash and peas. This hit the spot. Proper pie, shortcrust pasty in an individual pie. Lots of lovely filling. Smooth tasty mash. Couldn’t fault it. One of party had spicy parsnip and carrot soup which apparently was great. But there were jealous looks at the three plates around him. Good pint of woodfordes worry too. Made to feel very welcome and all covid precautions in place.

We have visited the Blue Dog on many occasions and love it. I have two young daughters who often visit with their grandparents and it is very safe. Staff ensure that all areas are 'covid safe' and are extremely welcoming. The 'people' mentioned behind the bar is not a true representation as it was actually a member of kitchen staff so please do not listen to the one negative review. The pub has recently been refurbished to a very high standard! I have yet to try the food but I know my daughters enjoy it every time they go. I would highly recommend the Blue Dog you will definitely not be disappointed! It's also had a visit from the council recently and they were more than happy with the measures put in place!

We regularly visit the Blue Dog as we live in the village. Tarina and Phil are fantastic hosts. Nikki now has the kitchen and there is great food available too. There is nothing at all to complain about. All Government guidelines are adhered to. The pub is closed by 10pm. Great place to visit and if you like music there is a great selection on offer. Visit the Blue Dog soon. You won’t be disappointed.

went into the dog during this afternoon and what an experience! Absolutely appalled... Tables were NOT clean, customers were behind the bar area serving themselves! Staff not wearing required ppe which is the law, will not be coming here again, disgraceful.....

Went to The Blue Dog reopening night which is now under new management after a short closure I had used this inn previously on occasion but what I found was a fully refurbished and renovated establishment, so much more spacious and comfortable with a good choice of ales, lagers and good quality wines, a rarity in my experience locally, the hosts are approachable, enthusiastic and friendly, unfortunately no hot foods are available at the moment as the kitchen was in the process of being updated, I was told that all should be up and running in the new year, looking forward to sampling the menu and will update my review accordingly, will certainly be making the "Dog" my local in future, recommend trying it out if in the are in the area am sure that you won't be disappointed.

A proper British Country Pub hosted by Elaine, a proper Pub Landlady. The fish and chips were great, a specially ordered gluten free option for me, the best I have tasted.Good beer and Cider and very welcoming local people. You are advised to book for the Wednesday Fish and Chip night, but they will always try to fit you in.Very much worth a visit.

An amazing public house with real character- including Morgan and Moxie the pub dog and cat - often travel some distance to get there - never disappointed. Especially on Wednesday nights when Elaine produces amazing fish and chips at a very reasonable price. Great place

Toddled orf to Sewerston near Grantham, only for lunch, to suss it out as a stopover for a not-to-far night out.The Blue Dog . Nice we thought, speshally as it is doggy friendly. It is a laid back, simply traditional village pub. Not far off the A1 not far from Oakham in Rutland, Grantham in Lincs and Stamford also in Lincs. All historic towns worth a visit. The pub does food. It's a small menue of basic, fair priced, home cooked food, well presented and tasty.Being a 'free house' they have a good choice of guest beers, well kept I may add.Good stopover for campervan, landlady said ok to stop over and did offer to leave the toilet available.Nice simple and friendly stop I think, we will return.

Popped in here on a cold wet Friday afternoon with our dog and received a great welcome from the landlady and Morgan their spaniel. Friendly locals and good choice of beer in cosy surroundings but didn't try the food this time. We will be back

Popped in to have breakfast here with the family midweek. Two full breakfasts and smashed avocado and egg on toast for the boy. Service was friendly and quick and the food really well cooked. Would highly recommend. There is plenty of choice for breakfast and lunch and the drinks menu is also extensive. Our breakfast was cooked fresh to order

We didn't have the opportunity to go to the pub before we moved to the village so we had no idea what to expect. Our first experience was fantastic! A lovely local pub with a great atmosphere. John and Kathy were so welcoming and made us feel like we had been coming here for years. With proper beers on tap, and probably the best fish and chips I have had in years we will be coming here every opportunity we get.

Our group of ladies were well treated ( one of us arrived very late and there was no fuss to make us order without her). In fact, service was excellent. We all ate different dishes and all enjoyed our meals. We now think this may also be the Christmas venue for our get- together!
