Went to the blue boar for a night out and its definitely the best late night bar to visit in abingdon! Great music, Amazing vibe and friendly staff! Drinks are reasonably priced, Would definitely recommend 😊

A great venue for all to enjoy. the staff are very friendly behind the bar,it's like little and large on a Friday and Saturday night but both equally as handsome. The door staff are great and very welcoming even though the taller one is full of the tisums. 🤣 definitely worth the visit!

Where else would you want to go when drinking in Abingdon? This place most of the time is the latest open, allways great music, great atmosphere and never any issues, the bar staff make me feel welcomed and the door staff make me feel safe (helps there good looking) will be comming back most weekends from now on. After returning to this pub from many years ago, I had to google it to see if it was open , boarded up windows smashed windows , but I was intrigued as it said open online , I entered to a pub with no one in it , they had one beer tap on fosters and selling cans of strongbow dark fruit for £4.50 , they also had 2 bottle beer , there was car seats in the middle of the floor prams and sticky floors , like a nightclub at the end of the night . Really nice staff that severed me made me feel welcome , but you can see first hand that the pub is on its last legs by the looks of it debt to the breweries. A-shame use to be a good pub years ago .

Just a nice straightforward pub. Doesn't try to be a restaurant or "sports (ie football)" bar. They just need to clear the clutter from one end (right of the bar).

Wow where do I begin, shocking service provided by untrustworthy employees. Staff on the door other than one, no SIA training. The owner is clearly on some sort of power trip deciding who he wants in or out. Absolutely shocking save your money and go somewhere else, literally anywhere else. This bar is awful. Kicking everyone out for no reason other than the owner’s girlfriend desired so is clearly not acceptable for a locally run Bar. Shocking place to be avoided at all costs by anyone who values there time or money.

Paid £5 entry into what is a pretty grotty pub, although it sounded lively so we went in. Realised within minutes this is the local haven for chavs, so asked the bouncer where I could safely leave my coat. I was told I could leave it on the coat rack (in full sight and easy to steal from) or hide it underneath the pool table on the filthy floor. I ended up trying to hide it in a corner of the pub. Within 15 minutes my £300 coat had been stolen, along with my friends £50 jacket. The bar staff did what they could to help, but despite having the culprit caught on CCTV and "knowing exactly who it is", I still don't have my coat back and no sign of it being returned. The owner did seem like a nice guy and was genuinely trying to get my stolen items back to me, but this doesn't excuse the fact that there are known thieves being allowed into the place. Hopefully the police can find the culprit so it doesn't happen again to anyone else.

I went here Friday around 11pm the bouncer said to produce our wallets and I refused and asked whether under Sia regulations he was allowed to even search personal items. Of course I understand the need to check people before they come in, and I was wrong, they are able to check wallets. However I now understand that before that they must ask permission and explain the establishments policy that requires them to ask to search. In actuality the man just said "show me your wallet" to which I refused and implored my friend to refuse but he went through his. Felt like a criminal and without him asking for permission to search and without directly stating the policies of the pub that would require wallets being searched. I believe this In breach of Sia regulations, and another example of a bouncer forgetting the bounds of his authority. Another note they had no daught beer at all, none, and for a pub that's rather a bad sign

Only late opening bar/club in Abingdon

You can't smell the urine from the toilets anymore so that's a step in the right direction. Only late night drink in Abingdon also so your kinda stuck with the place.

New woman door staff (tank that is Melissa) is overly aggressive and uses too much force. Not trained in restraint properly and lies a lot! Avoid unless you want to be dragged by your hair and sat on, even though your a 3rd of her size. Dalton on the other hand is a very respectful and professional doorman.

Great pub and staff now that it is under new management that knows what they are doing. Try it yourself you’ll agree.

Was part of a group from the Army LGBT network and visited the Blue Boar on the off chance, what a great evening, bingo hosted by the resident drag queen, music and great drinks

Atmosphere was aggressive at the very least man outside bleeding on the floor would never go there again.

Love this place! They do events for all ages, drinks are reasonably priced with drink deals most evenings and a great place to have a dance on the weekends!!!

The blue boar is a great late night bar. Dancing and drinks. What more could you ask for. Brilliant night out. Will defo be back next week. Thanks to all the staff there for making it a great night.

Lovely old fashioned pub with a club feel on the weekends. Nice little treat for a small town like abingdon. Staff are warm, Welcoming and provide good customer service! Good selection of drinks. 🤩

Very nice experience! Had a lot of fun with my friends the other night! The owner even gave us a free shot because he liked us! Definitely would come over again!

Well where to begin? If you like your drinks served in plastic cups, with no ice, and having to queue for them like a herd of cattle, then it’s a winning place, the metal barriers?? (I’m not joking) are a very odd feature to say the least, oh let’s not forget the sticky floors and dirty toilets, and now it appears an unjustified entry fee for this pub??!! The high prices of drinks also don’t match the establishments general low grade vibe, the place definitely has a youth club feel, now I’m only in my twenties and know this pub is probably targeting the younger clientele, but its definitely alienating the drinker who wants a bit more of a proper night out, a wider selection of drinks, cold drinks? A decent vibe? Friendly atmosphere? Most of the staff look fed up, friendly enough tho, but not like they are enjoying their job, the outside area, which you can’t take drinks out to ( unless your a member of staff and referred to as special as I witnessed when one punter queried why a certain lady was allowed to drink outside when nobody else was) comprises of beat up old sofas, and some picnic tables, now I know that we’re all glad to able to go out again and enjoy ourselves, but this place seriously needs to up its game. And there’s no point in the bar staff posting great reviews and pretending to be customers, which I noticed has happened below, because when a customer visits they will realise they have been misled to a very high degree, and be very disappointed. A clean pub with a more professional set up and ice would be a start!!!!

Memory lane, was in the blue boar about 6 years ago. Had a great time any night that we went never an issue. Couple of nice takeaways close by as well. What more could you ask for.

On Saturday night after 11 the dance floor is open and you can dance on all sorts of music. Good place for a fun night! Nice stuff and good music, perfect combination!

If this bar was a woman she'd have big hoop earrings a tracksuit and would as quickly offer to stab you as meet you out the back for a fiver. But hey maybe that's exactly what you're looking for.

Second time I've been in there and the doorman came up to me, took my pint away and tipped it down the drain. Don't think I'll be buying another point there again.

Go here pretty much every night out in Abingdon. Thing is that most common pubs close at around midnight-ish, the "boar" opens late so it makes for an additional part to your night out. Expect a nice pub with great staff should you visit there outside of the hours of midnight onwards on Friday/Saturday. Should you be unfortunate enough to get dragged there by you mates on the a weekend night.. Expect loud music, booze and fun... I guess. Have to say I don't want to be to destructive of the blue boar, after all it's the customers that get drunk and the boar which offers a place to do it. This is with a controlled allowance on people so that it doesn't get to clustered. Be warned that the bouncers will get aggressive should you provoke the rules. Would help if Abingdon had more places open past the closing time of most drinking establishments. Put this place in the same category as marmite, personally I love a bitter aftertaste🍺🍻

Magic pub, great weekend music disco, really friendly staff. Big selection of drinks at average Abingdon prices. The pictures are out of date! It's just had 160k on it, looks great, everyone in town agrees - how is that cheap Piotr? and it doesn't sell food Piotr - kitchen doesn't open until next month.I don't know what Piotr Szewelle is going on about, obviously hasn't been there. Once the kitchen opens - maybe a 5star
