This is the best slice pizza ive eaten outside of naples. With great topings, and great music. Also best pint of san miguel in york.

The pizza from here is spectacular - really crispy, but also light and fluffy! Jammed full of flavour and super delicious. The owner was telling me he spent lots of time researching the recipes in Rome, and it really shows! Really friendly guy and amazing place to sit eat pizza and drink beer

Great atmosphere and alright pizza. Mind you a did see a few flies on the food but I don't overly care cause it's cooked before given to you.

Really disappointed with this place. Pizza was dry and reheated. Really not great for the price. Much better food options in York. Doesn’t accept York gift card, even though they are supposed to.

Serves good pizza at reasonable prices, but the restaurant/bar is disgustingly dirty! The table was filthy with bits of food on it (definitely not cleaned in between visitors) and I accidentally dropped something on the floor under the table (one of the booths with benches) and when I went to pick it up, there was what looked like a lot of very old bits of food all over the floor and the floor was generally very unclean. Our glasses also didn't look clean and my wife had a bad stomach for nearly a week after visiting. Would not return unless they sorted the cleanliness out. I noted the "5 star food hygiene rating" sticker while we were there and commented that there's no way they'd get that if an inspector were to walk in while we were there. Such a shame because it could be a really cool pizza bar.

Tasty pizza slabs, but could have done with some dips!

We called in to get a slice and drink for 3 of us. I waited outside with the dogs and was invited in to select my pizza. We waited outside and the lovely lady brought our food out to us. To top off the wonderful staff, the pizzas were to die for. Would highly recommend to anyone.

The Block is a great spot for pizza, we popped in for a quick bite and a pint with not much time to spare. You can select which pizzas you want varying from £4-5 and they do you a large rectangular slice cut into 2 (we shared). As a recommendation, it's the perfect spot for a quick bite before doing something else for the evening. Staff were friendly, pizza was nice and they had good music on and a good selection of drinks, including brooklyn lager on draught!

It's a cool hangout, nowhere else like it in York, nice slices, nice beer, nice staff innit.

Quick and easy, and a very tasty quick lunch. A good fast food alternative. Lots of different options and veggie/ vegan options to pick from. The dough was lovely and crispy and then had some good sauce options. They salami and pepperoni with chilli was one of the best choices.

The Block is great. Amazing Pizza, great atmosphere, fantastic decor and brilliant service. I've walked passed here loads but never been in until today, we'll definitely be back. I love the concept of being able to order different flavoured pizzas rather that just one. They also have a brilliant selection of hot sauces which is rare to find; usually there's a choice or 1 or 2 but there were 10 here (I even got a cheeky sample to take home with me).

Having ketchup would be a nice extra.

Relaxed environment, a nice range of beers and lots of pizza ready to choose from. Get a lot for what you pay for

I came here for a pint and a slice and both were brilliant! The pizza slice is actually pretty big so it was filling and super delicious. I could have eaten just the one and been content, but it was so nice I ended up ordering another. I was very full but it was worth it! Super tasty dough and nice and cheesy. They do have vegan slices but once we'd arrived they'd sold out, so I'd say get there earlier to avoid missing out on your fave pizza.

After three attempts to visit, it was well worth the wait.

The pizza here was so delicious, I wasn't sure what I wanted to get at first and I'm not sure what I did order but it was so good! I also really enjoyed the music they had playing, it was such a good vibe! I went as it was reccomended to me but I'd definitely advise other people go if you're looking for a quick bite to eat in the city centre!

Love this place! Really nice chilled vibe and pizza by the slice! There needs to be more of these in the world (especially in Kent please!) It was worth coming to York to find this little gem

Great to find a place that does ace pizza and by the slice, they could even accommodate my girlfriend who has allergies. Really lovely staff, had a good chat with them n very friendly. Good atmosphere, good selection of flavours, I'd be happy sitting in there all day working my way through the menu.

Popped in today for something to eat for lunch and wasn't disappointed the place is amazing the food is to die for and the atmosphere is super, we had a couple of beers and a pepperoni slice and the spicy sausage slice both were amazing loved it here

Cool place for a slice (or block) of pizza. I'd say better for a lunch than dinner.

Everytime I come to York either on my own or with my partner I always make it a mission to go and get a slice of the spicy pizza... its absolutely fantastic, the staff are very friendly and prices are very decent.

Great pizzas squares for approximately £4. Offers Student or NHS discount. Has it's own toilet. Plays tunes by Air. Only 4 stars as have had even better pizzas elsewhere

Its such a good place. In Italy we loved these kind of places where you can taste few bits of different pizzas. I would love to have same concept place in our region. Me and my husband ordered each two slices and I was full for all day. Also the staff is so friendly. This place is very popular it was packed with people once we visited.

Lovely hoisin mushroom pizza! The mushrooms had a really meaty texture and would be great for anyone who likes meat but is looking to reduce their intake. They also had loads of chilli sauces to try with your pizza. Great service and I look forward to returning again in the future!

Tasty pizza sold in slices, great Brooklyn Lager on tap and a really nice friendly atmosphere. We really enjoyed our visit and it was fun sitting by the windows and watching the world go by. There is a real welcoming vibe to the place. There are chargers for your mobile phone and even free women's hygiene products in the loo just in case you got stuck outside without any. I also loved the great picture of The Clash on the wall. This place is cool and the pizza is tasty. Highly recommended.

The slice of sausage was the best pizza I have ever had and I've been all over the world. I am sicilian so am very picky with pizzas and was blown away to find this gem in the heart of York. The service was superb as well!

Visited today (24/7/20) for the 1st time, what a fantastic business, owner Luke was polite, helpful and welcoming.... oh and the takeaway pizzas were superb... Luke also provided a great location to buy off sales ales to wash down the food. Cheers

We had a quick lunch at the Block in mid-February. This Pizza parlour is owned by an energetic hardworking Yorkshireman with a very good palate who knows how to make pizzas. They are made fresh everyday and the types of pizza changes although there is usually a margarita and cheese with pepperoni. Our two slices were delicious with excellent crusts and top quality ingredients. We left very happy!

We tried the vegan pizza with tomato sauce, oregano, aubergine and vegan parmesan!! The taste was so Mediterranean and I felt like I was having a slice in Italy!

We got there a bit late after the lunch rush. But the mushroom pizza was delicious and the children wolfed down a large slice of margherita. Simple and quirky little pizza restaurant. Worth calling into.

We were going to eat here because I love The Clash and wanted to see the much vaunted poster while we had our pizza. We arrived just before 12 noon and it wasn't open although it was supposed to be open at 11.30. It looked like they were still getting the place ready.But the poster - if you're going to be famous for having a poster of The Clash then it's got to be The Clash and this isn't - it's Joe with a later (not the classic) line up. And if it's not Joe, Mick, Paul and Topper then it's not The Clash. May sound like I'm nit picking but if you love The Clash then this matters.

Brilliant hidden gem in York. Great pizza served by the slice with a changing menu. Kids love it and preferable to a visit to the Golden Arches! Great for family or quick stop off in date night

Really great pizzas, good choice, good service, nice surroundings and friendly staff. Central location within the city walls although a little out of the main tourist area; well worth hunting out. Very good value for the centre of York too.

Nice and tasty square slices of pizza and they’re very filling. A range of tried and tasted toppings that are a break from the pizzeria norm but beware if you go on an evening that you’ll likely be met with many of the options ‘out of stock’. Very friendly and helpful staff with a range of dipping sauces and why not wash down with a draft ale. Enjoy!
