Consistently helpful staff with consistently great food. Mum has dementia and is in a local care home - we are finally able to take her out after Covid & we visit here. The staff are so patient, kind & helpful and yesterday we met up with mums friend of 50 years who had a stroke during Covid - what a lovely afternoon we had. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff & everything is delicious.

The black bird coffee house makes some excellent food and drink. The bacon and sausage sandwich that I had was delicious and the coffee was also excellent. The staff were friendly and the service was efficient. The food is prepared fresh to order This cafe has both indoor and outdoor seating. At the time of writing we are in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic and therefore the indoor seating area was closed. There is an outdoor seating area with a wide pavement Dogs are permitted in this cafe and there is parking right outside.

Called here for a coffee and a bacon sandwich on Saturday morning. On entering the cafe there were approx half of the tables occupied and the other half were marked ‘reserved’. No member of staff offered to find us a table and we had to ask if we could sit at one of the tables marked ‘reserved from 1pm’ as it was only 11.30am! It was all a bit unwelcoming and odd! The flat white coffees we ordered were horribly weak and tasted of warm milk and we had to buy an extra shot of espresso to give it any flavour at all! The bacon sandwich however was lovely!

After a long train journey yesterday, I came across what looked like a really nice place for drinks and hot snacks, and called in. I couldn’t see any sign advising “ please wait to be seated” so I found a table and sat down. I assume somebody noticed that I was there, but nobody came. It was as though I was invisible. That’s a bit embarrassing all round. If you run a restaurant, how do you not notice a customer sitting at the largest table? All very strange. In that situation, do you try and get someone’s attention? That didn’t work. After around ten miserable minutes I quietly left.

Delightful little tea room in the village of Ansdell within Lytham St. Annes. Reasonable prices, friendly helpful staff, clean, furnished in a quirky comfortable manner and with a welcoming atmosphere. They close at 4pm but when we arrived at around 3:20pm the outside tables and chairs were being brought in which made it look like they were closing. Had I not asked we may have walked on by. I’m glad we didn’t though as we very much enjoyed our cream tea. We had delicious locally baked large scones with plenty of fresh clotted cream and a lovely pot of Earl Grey made with loose leaf tea and served with china cups and saucers. My only disappointment was the cheap jam. If it was served with a little pot of Bonne Maman Strawberry Conserve, or similar, it would be perfect!

Children and dogs are welcomed. The menu is limited but there is a good selection of loose leaf teas and lovely, fresh cakes. The sandwiches are nice and come with salad and crisps. They do a good bacon butty. No full English on the menu but the breakfast options are available all day. My Eccles cake could have done with a few more currants. Staff are really nice and friendly. We visited The Blackbird yesterday breakfast time as we are regular visitors (or have been) but as we hadn't been for a while we were excited to go back to one of our favourite cafes. I'm not sure if since our last visit the ownership has changed hands or if the owners were away? Unfortunately it was very poor- we ordered a hot chocolate and a coffee as our drinks, these took 40 minutes to arrive and there was at most only five tables in inclusive of our own. If we had not paid upfront we would have left, when our food eventually came mine was stone cold and my partners was luke warm- again we had waited so long we just ate it and left as soon as we could. Sad to not return- had and has so much potential but needs work.

Disappointing couple of visits after this venue has changed ownership. From burnt coffee , to overpriced, uninteresting cakes, toast still bread in the centre, cold beans and shop bought soup. This has gone from being a firm favourite to yet another under-achieving business venture. We used to go here regularly until we had our daughter as they didn't really cater to very young eaters. So I was pleasantly surprised to see changes to the menu which included more choice for my little one. There were some new tables and the decor was as lovely as always. The food was tasty as ever as was the lovely rooibos tea. However, our experience was hampered somewhat when I mentioned to whom I was dining with (in an entirely non judgmental or negative way) that it was quiet (something that was unusual as it used to be packed - sometimes uncomfortably so). Upon saying this,to the person I was with no one else, the owner piped up that it was busy that morning but had quietened down probably because of the nice weather. Her tone to me sounded unnecessarily defensive despite me merely making an observation, which was not appreciated and even if she wasn't being defensive I wasn't talking to her and so her interjection was, in my opinion, very rude and quite out of character. Maybe she was having a bad day. It's a shame, because I had been planning on going back with the rest of my family.

However, the changing facilities could do with a little updating. A changing mat was provide but This has to be placed on the floor & I had to kneel on the floor to change my 10month old. The cafe is very cosy and quaint and although it was busy, we didn't have to wait long for our lunch of bacon and beans on 2 slices of thick toast for my hubby and a BLT with crisps and salad for myself. The bacon was done just how we like it, crispy and was very very tasty. We had ordered a pot of tea for 2 and the waitress was more than willing to give us mugs instead of tea cups when we asked. There is a selection of home made cakes and we both went on to sample the flap jack, which was to die for. The Blackbird always offers a cheerful welcome and serves a simple but excellent lunch menu. There are a huge range of flavoured teas and coffees too, alongside a ever-changing selection of freshly made cakes. There are sofas to relax in, books to browse, a selection of quiet toys to occupy younger children and usually a few handmade gifts for sale. The mismatched tables and eclectic odds and ends on the walls make a welcome change from the generic decor so beloved of Costa and Nero. The menu is fairly small but excellent and I think, as there are only two people running it, one cooking and preparing the food and the other serving the tea and coffee and taking orders as well as delivering them to the tables, that they do amazingly well. The cakes are delicious and I am looking forward to booking afternoon tea sometime soon. It is a clean, bright, well run Coffee House and somewhere a lady on her own could go without feeling awkward. The mother and daughter team so obviously enjoy what they do and this is reflected in the atmosphere of the café. Due to its popularity and growing reputation it is often busy and on such occasions you are always advised if there will be a wait for food. I have not yet experienced this to be a problem as the majority of customers are enthusiastic to spend a little extra time here. Dogs shouldn't be aloud In a place where there is food being made! And I agree with the guy who put his review In the POOR section on this page about the cook walking around barefoot! Absolutely shocked to find that out! Absolutely unhygienic!!!! It doesn't even feel or look like a cafe! They have got at one side of the cafe they have got a craft section (to make stuff) and a toys section for the kids which I think is wrong to have as it's a hazard for when people walk around and toys could be on the floor while people could be coming in or leaving! There shouldn't be toys there! Absolutely wrong! With it being a very small cafe!!! And no I will not be returning to the Blackbird cafe! Absolute terrible experience !

There is plenty of variety on sale here, including some lovely cakes and very tasty snacks. The cafe is very welcoming and comfortable and relaxing to enjoy a drink and a little something to eat. Parking is on street and easy.

Bravissime.

I am a big fan of The Blackbird and I am surprised there aren't more reviews on here as it's a hidden gem for locals. The chicken salad is fabulous and very filling and the cakes are amazing especially the chocolate salted caramel. They do have a good thing going on here. Makes a nice change to all the dull cafés in Lytham that are full of tourists and average cake. Looking forward to my next visit soon and sampling your afternoon tea :-) x

Was recommended The Blackbird by a friend and it was fantastic, warm and friendly greeting upon arrival. Good selection of both drinks and food on the menu. I went for the cheese and onion quiche, which came with a healthy portion of salad and some crisps and it was excellent. After a short break I then had a slice of carrot cake which again was really nice. The Blackbird had a great atmosphere with a buzz of chatter in the air. Needless to sayings been back.many times since my first visit and always enjoy spending time here either eating or drinking or more than likely both!

A beautiful little tea room, with a nostalgic ambience that's pretty and comforting at first glance. Incredibly friendly staff. The problem is it's too tiny and has way too much going on at once! From book clubs to craft workshops to children's tea parties and dogs...for 10 tables it gets busy quickly and the space just isn't enough to breathe in. A truly inspiring creative vision behind the business, you can buy works from local artists, really get involved in the place but unfortunately with a very small run family cafe; as you can imagine this then turns into chaos! 45 mins with one chef later to make a sandwich for you, the girls really not great at clearing incredibly small tables, bad use of space and a cook who walks around bare foot! It's like sitting in your family living room with the extended family round for tea at once! Not to knock the food this place is really top notch, a limited menu but then again for the size of kitchen and floor space it's adequate. I wouldn't suggest visiting with more than one or two of you. They seem to also throw random events where part of the cafe is closed so then out of the 10 tables there's approx three open to general customers. It really would be better if they closed the cafe on these occasions. Overall a very creative and warm feel but if there's a few people in there, it can become an anxious nightmare of a visit with you juggling and clearing your own small coffee table and crushing into corners with your friends with little breathing space. It's a shame because it's a beautiful venue and the owners are lovely people, it's just the logistics can turn into an experience where you end up wanting to just get up and leave.

Found this super little tea shop by accident and have been back four times in the last 8 weeks for lunch as it really is lovely. The food is delicious and the service is so very friendly that you feel you are meeting up with friends. The cakes are homemade and to die for-I go in with good intentions of only having a salad or a sandwich but always succumb to one of their delightful treats.Have tried the sandwiches, the panninis, the soup and the salads and they are all delicious. Yesterday I had the chicken and apple salad with had the most mouth-watering dressing of lime and mustard-beautiful! Don't take my word for it-try it-you'll love it!

I have known about the Blackbird Café for some months thanks to the Lytham Coffee Company man who was at a nearby farmers' market and informed me that dogs were welcome. I phoned to check to find the owners live local to me (some miles away from Ansdell). Finally got there today with my dog and was not disappointed in any way. Delicious sweetcorn and celery soup, fresh barmcakes with plenty of filling Good coffee (from the Lytham Coffee Company). Varied range of homemade 'cakes' including some without buttercream (not my favourite). Clean bowl of fresh dog water was no problem. AND there is a loyalty card. Now when can I get there again?

This is a comfy, cosy, family friendly cafe. Menu is not huge but still has good choice including sandwiches, paninis and delicious cakes. It is quite close to Fairhaven Lake in Lytham St Annes and is well worth the short walk.

Such a pretty place bursting with character and creative quirky charm - it's enchanting! They have a simple, well-thought out menu (I personally love the soup and paninis), a magical array of mouthwatering cakes on the counter, a good selection of extremely tasty teas (if you're into fruit tea I can recommend the passionfruit and orange, it's deelish) and locally sourced coffee and the icing on the cake (to use an appropriate metaphor) are the owners, who are quite simply the loveliest of folks. They cater for everyone whether you want to curl up on a comfy sofa with a hot chocolate and a good book, meet your friends for afternoon tea and a catch-up or bring the whole family down for lunch. I can promise you one visit will never be enough! :-)

Lovely little cafe. Easy to park. Only had a cake and cold drink when I was there but the carrot cake was the best I'd ever had and I plan to visit again for a panini or something. Decor is lovely too

This little café has only opened recently by a mother and daughter and is in an old bank building. My family and I decided to give it a visit and when we first went in it reminded us of the cafes in Jersey, quaint with nik-naks for sale and delicious looking cakes on the counter.Tea and coffee was ordered as well as milk shakes for my girls. The milk shakes came in little milk bottles which we thought were cute with love heart sweets at the side. They have a menu which ranges from sandwiches and paninis to soups and salads - a nice selection but not too much. The food arrived and was delicious. We had roast chicken paninis to waffles with syrup and crumpets with jam! What an excellent place to drop in for a gorgeous piece of cake, a coffee/tea and a relax. The waitresses have killers smiles and make you feel very welcome.Would highly recommend to anyone.

We have dined here several times whilst on holiday in the area and always enjoyed the food, service and ambiance. This time, unfortunately, the bar and restaurant were empty when we arrived - hence no atmosphere. The duck on noodles was pretty salty - as folk who don't use salt in any cooking, or on the table, it really was far too much. The creme brulee was superb.

Ryan was attentive and provided a great service for us. We had haddock and chips twice. The food looked and tasted great. The chips tasted home cooked and the fish was perfect. We had a gravy boat with spicy curry sauce, which was not too spicy, but just right. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal. No concerns regarding cleanliness. A strong recommendation from us.
