The Black Swan in Bristol, City of

Loved the place. But the sunday lunch was a bit disappointing

I recently visited The Black Swan and was shocked to find a pint of Coke priced at £4.50, more expensive than a pint of beer. This pricing is extremely disappointing and feels unjustified.

Great pub. Dev and the team are the best, the live music nights are awesome and the beer garden is top drawer.

Classic local pub, cheerful often noisy and blissfully 'un-themed'. It's where the locals go for a pint. Sunday roast is good and I am told that their brisket chilli is very spicy and goes down well. Plenty of space and pleasant table service. 30th March 2024 update: still up to scratch.

I've stopped at this pub a few times. There are various rooms, plenty of seating and a beautiful garden. The staff is always very welcoming and smiling, this attitude makes you feel a bit at home. Their way of relating to people is certainly their winning part. In this pub you have the opportunity to meet new people, chat with them, play board games, taste excellent quality beer. And if it happens that when you enter Black Swan you feel relaxed, entertained and happy, it won't just be the beer's fault, but the reason will be that you too will feel part of this big family.

Burgers and Chilli Nachos are fantastic. Would not reccomend the fish cake, pretty awful compared to the rest of the menu. Sunday lunches are very tasty, however.

Popped in for a drink. Lovely friendly staff, plenty of seating and screens for the sports.

Good selection of ales and ciders. Decent pub atmosphere. Ordering from the App at the table is a revelation. (It's the only good result of covid.) Reward points via the App are nice too. Edit- Wickwar ales has gotten rid of the App, collecting points, and being able to order from the table. Shame 😔

Great local pub, friendly attentive service, offering a good selection of draft beer/cider and wine. Along with generous delicious hot food. All reasonably priced.

Just had a wonderful lunch with the husband and dog. We even got the chance to sit out in their spacious, quiet beer garden. The staff were very friendly and more than welcoming to the dog. My fish and chips was well presented and really tasty. He had the chicken burger with added cheese and bacon, which looked very good, and as he polished it all off, it must have been very good. Both meals were reasonably priced, and the portions were plentiful. It's certainly going to be somewhere that we'll be returning in the near future.

Always have an amazing time at the black swan, staff are always so welcoming and their new menu 🤤, tried their new Korean fried chicken burger and it blew my mind, that chef is a true wizard in the kitchen 🤌🏼

Good local pub, Wickwar beers with a current guest beer of Prescott Hill Climb, light but very drinkable. Good atmosphere and some interesting nooks and crannies in the building.

Cracking pub. Was in there all the time in my youth. I am so pleased to see it going strong with great staff and clientele.

Great to pop in for a couple of pints with friends. Very helpful and friendly staff, rugby on the TV followed by football but also a selection of board games on the bar. Well worth a visit with a nice outdoor section too. Just the sort of pub you'd love as your local.

Sunday lunch at a great price and really good quality food and portion size. Not a huge menu but I think that means what they do offer is better for it. Pork shoulder or beef brisket, I had the beef which was cooked wonderfully, literally pulled apart easily. There's also a vege option plus sandwich options. Will be back.

Lovely fish & chips, pub has traditional feel with a few small rooms to eat in. Very relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff and locals. I'm not normally one for the TV on while I eat but as visitors from Northamptonshire it was fun to watch Northampton Saints play rugby against the home team 😅 A bit of a hidden gem, this one.

We live just down the road, I’ve never bothered coming here as they only sell old man pump ale but now they sell Camden Pale Ale which is vaguely going in the right direction. (Please look into selling Arbor, New Bristol Brewery, Wiper & True, Left Handed Giant etc etc the modern IPA’s from these Bristol breweries is fantastic) First time trying the roast here, food was tasty and delicious and a great price. Plus now they have a half decent IPA for the younger crowd I’ll return in the future.

Always a pleasure to stop here after work for a pint with all the staff from Max Events. The food here always looks lovely and smells great.

Excellent Sunday roast dinner and delicious Chocolate Brownie dessert. Really friendly and obliging staff. Dog friendly with indoor and outdoor seating options offered. Thank you for a lovely lunch.

We held my fathers wake here on 20th January.Staff were very helpful and the buffet food was lovely.Would definitely use this venue again.

Not been here for years. Now under new ownership. We sat outside and had 'nibbles'. A good home made sausage roll with pear chutney, and a big bowl of hummus. Will definitely be going there again.

This pub has not been visited for a few years. Well it will not be visited again .... Absolutely filthy in and outside areas. No wonder it is known as the dirty duck locally.

Food ordered was not cooked throughout,informed staff,no apology,or offer of replacement,table booked until later in the afternoon,but asked to move due to booking error,why the error applied to us rather than the next party,who knows? Contacted Wickwar ,getting fobbed off with “we will get back to you”routine,needless to say will not be going back😡

This place has had a good covid-safe framework from the get-go. Good food, an app for ordering (friendly staff to help with it if you need support like me), timely service.

Homely, friendly nice warming fire (it may be a log effect gas fire, but its still lovely) and they know the names of the locals.

Nice enough but.. halloumi burger had almost no halloumi, lunchtime staff were grumpy and stroppy.. poor attitude towards paying customers.. wouldn't bother going back.

Nice for a couple of pints after a game of badminton.

Very dirty grotty back street boozer, uncared for enterprise inns site had no investment in tens off years, and doesn’t look like Wickwar are any keener to spend on it. Alcoholic manager now left so that is a positive for the business

It's a typically English pub. Very welcoming, with several types of beer, cider and wines by the glass. Meeting point in the late afternoon to drink a beer in good company.

Good local pub. We called in spur of the moment as the M5 was at a standstill and we wanted a break. Locals and staff were friendly. Food was good and our dog was also welcome. Really appreciated :-)

The Black Swan is a lovely, family friendly pub. Atmosphere is great and bar staff always friendly and will to help. The function room with big screen T.V. at the back is great for functions. Highly recommended.
