What a lovely place Service mint. Highly recommend

After a hike we decided to stop in Pocklington for an ice cream and a drink in a local pub. Whilst we finished our ice creams outside we popped into the pub to use the toilet and then once finished planned to go inside and order a drink. My partner noticed there is cctv inside the toilets (I hadn’t noticed any signage on the way into the toilets but did see a ‘Smile you’re on camera’ sign as I left) my partner took a photo of the cameras in the gents toilets and upon leaving to show me, one of the bar staff, (I can’t say what position this person held in the pub but from the attitude I wouldn’t say was manager material) came out and said in quite a unfriendly argumentative manor ‘Do you want to take a picture of the compliance notices as well’ to which my partner said yes. Now the excuse given of a drug problem, while understandable still makes me feel quite violated to think someone was watching us use the toilet. For them to know my partner had taken a photo of the cctv camera suggests they was sat watching the footage live at the time which I will be looking into the legality of this. A call to the ICO should resolve this matter swiftly and I will be requesting footage taken of myself and removed under my rights as stated under GDPR. Unfortunately after this experience and the fact they record in the toilets we won’t be returning.

Just went up for a trip and landed in the Black Swan and the owner was very nice straight away. Great selection of drinks and very friendly staff. Definitely will go again when I inevitably go back to the lovely town of Pocklington ❤️

Nice Guinness sold here but the pub is a bit on the shabby side.

A great place to have lunch while exploring the town as it is central to the high street.

The Black Swan is a traditional pub. The large single L shaped room has bar games, a pool table, and a dartboard. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and there is a wide range of beers larger and cider but sadly no cask conditioned real ales. There is a nice outside seating area at the back of the pub. It is a nice pub and dog friendly.

A good pub with a pool table. Good music and big TVs to watch the games.

Good for quiet drinks apart from when there's footie or karaoke on! But when there's karaoke on, there's another half of the pub (to the right side), which is usually not busy at all, and the beer garden is nice too. There's shelter in the gardens and the staff are all very pleasant and easy-going.

Advertised as dog friendly but seemed to take exception to my friend's cockapoo when we were in there. Apparently there were complaints about the dog barking on occasion; granted the bar man did explain that a few of the locals had decided to leave, but it wasn't like the dog was uncontrollable or aggressive... we were asked to leave but no one else in the front lounge where we were sat seemed to mind, and the bar staff seemed to miss the fact that some of the locals were playing with the dog and giving it treats beforehand, which might have played a part in making him bark?! I don't have a problem with being asked to leave anywhere; as it happens we were on our way out anyway, but I thought the way the bar lady approached us was overly aggressive. None of us had caused a scene and we should have been given the chance to finish our drinks. Instead the bar lady raced over and attempted to snatch my pint out of my hand! At the end of the day, we are adults and paying customers, and we should have been treated with a bit more respect. It all seemed a bit unneccessary and the attitude of the staff overshadowed what I considered a good day out in Pock. It's a shame really, as we have been in with the dog before and never had any problems. We were informed on the way out we were barred; don't worry we won't be returning!

Wouldn't serve us because of a member of staff carrying on in my local pub in York.

Dog friendly which is great,bar staff all seemed friendly. Nice outdoor seating area and pool table. Has sky so a nice place to enjoy the football 🙂

Having a smashing night out in Pock, pub looked nice from the outside, shame we weren't allowed in because the landlord took offence to being asked if he was s bouncer because it was wearing a staff fleece. We were told to go and find another pub if that's the way we spoke to bar staff. Would've thought pubs would have been desperate for customers after the past year. Only left one star because I can't leave zero.

Ran by a bell end, allowed a 16 year old to drink, and then kicked us both out, injust, and used force. Never reports violence. Never again.

I was told to order a drink using the App. When i did this i was told that they were closing. When i explained that i had just ordered and payed for a pint i was told, "tough" i will get it refunded for you. This was not refunded even after 5 days. The app was still letting you order and the opening hours were still within time. It was fairly late on in the night but it was the first place i went after doing a 2-10 at work, so it wasn't like i had been in there all day and causing trouble like some of the people i saw in there.

Really lovely pub, great atmosphere. The staff are really friendly. Different range of sports on tv and they even do a raffle type thing. The owners are really friendly and make you feel welcome! definitely recommend this pub! 5 stars for me!!

Well it dose get busy but if you go in the beer garden there is a shelter bit you behind the middle table there is a button if you press it. It will turn on the lights and heating.

Went on a Friday night nice selection of gins, largers and ales. Only downfall at this point in time they didn't take cards but there is a cash point nearby

Had a club event last Sunday and was made to feel very welcome by an excellent host. Good location with parking in a very interesting and historic town.

Has a pool table! Although it is cash only still fair price for drinks.

Lovely pub. You can enjoy a drink with friends. Listening to background music is not to loud so you can still chat and watch sport on the various Tv's.

Local pub local people, decent prices.
