Friendly atmosphere, good place to watch the footy

Quiet until around 10pm on weekends. Good for a later drink.

They don't do food, but they have live music events, great staff, a decent pool table, and a smile for you too 😀 Park in the nearby multi- story car park and it's a short walk.

If I could give Zero I would I finished work joined my girlfriend in another establishment who went to grocery shopping. I Popped in to the Black Swan to watch the last 20 minutes of the football and was told I wasn't welcome quite abruptly to be honest.. I exited straight away because I felt quite humiliated to be honest.. and I'm.hoping Management see this.. I'm sorry to leave a bad review.. I got pint elsewhere and watched the game and went home.. dreadful

The black Swan I knew back in the day had a nick name of the mucky duck. Since returning it looks as though it is finding it hard to survive.

Think it's one of those places good for locals. But visitors don't think they have often. Walked in had two sips of pint and left as two army guys were fighting in bar area. And girls behind bar were saying let im ave it. Quite funny looking back

My husband and myself have been running this pub for the last 5yrs.we have a 5* rating for our kitchen and our customers are very friendly and welcoming. Obviously like any pub you may get a rogue customer who isn't a local, but we become aware of them pretty quickly. All the bad reviews are coming from a digruntled customer who the police are aware of. Please do not be taken in by his rantings. Thank you.

I first visited this pub 3 years ago. Not a lot has changed since. You feel under constant threat of abuse by staff and locals who mostly resemble what can only be described as deranged. They all look as if they've been dipped in a vat of cooking oil. One customer has a face that appears to have been stretched from his cheeks to behind his neck. There is an odour akin to that of rotting flesh and the locals all look on the verge of vomiting. Would make a great location for a dentist as most people are seriously lacking in teeth. The beer tasted decomposed and I'm afraid I wasn't brave enough to attempt the food.

I rarely comment on these things but i feel the need to warn people what a terrible place this is. I went in with my son for a coffee and sandwich. The customers were loud, raucous and rude. I felt like I was a exhibit in a zoo. My son is 19 and there was obviously minors drinking. To be fair the food was edible but no better than Greggs in town. The table we were at was sticky, the glass my son had, had lipstick stains. I felt uncomfortable the whole time I was there, and was pleased to leave. It used to be a lovely place so friendly and welcoming, I wish I had listened to other people when they said it was nothing more than a dregs watering hole. I gave it a chance, but never again the slobs, old tarts and alcohol filled men are welcome to the seedy place. Not the place for anyone who has standards beyond the gutter.

Like something out of "The Hills Have Eyes"! I took my 70 year old mother in for lunch on Tuesday 9th December 2014 and immediately felt uncomfortable as everyone stopped what they were doing to turn around and stare. The pros..... the toilets were clean and the food was very hot. The cons.... the coffee was instant in a mug and you had to request milk and sugar which was added for you, drunk patrons swearing loudly and constantly while staring at us (and the staff did nothing), people walking in and out of the kitchen area without shoes on (were they staff or just random patrons?) and being told not to come back by one of the other patrons when we said goodbye and thank you as we left. Dont panic, we have no intention of ever going back!
