The Black Horse in Hillingdon

The lamb madras had a long bone or piece of plastic in it, this is the first time this has happened and I have had many good meals in the past.

I went to the Black horse as I saw online they had a happy hour where their cocktails were slightly cheaper. It was a friday night and very busy in the pub. They only had 2 people working behind the bar, so there was a bit of a wait for drinks. When I chose the drink, I wanted 'aperol spritz'. I was told they had run out on tap and didn't have the ingredients to make it themselves. After looking some more, I chose porn star Martini. That was also on tap, but luckily, they hadn't run out. I got 2 of them on the deal. They were fine for an on tap cocktail but very small glasses, so I did not feel I was getting a good deal. The bar tender said the deal was either 2 small ones or one large one for the same price. So I got the two small ones. There was no prosecco with the porn star Martins. I had those drinks, then left to go somewhere else with a better deal. The pub was fine, service was slow but the two bar staff were frienly. The toilets were clean but could do with a makeover as they were old fashioned. As we only stayed for our first drink. So I didn't get to try the food. Although I have heard the food is good, the slow service and them not having the drink I wanted didn't make me feel like staying for food. Overall, it was fine for a local pub.

Bit Grimey and small but food is good

The barmaid/waitress was friendly and helpful, we got a nice corner with two sofas to sit on, and the food was excellent, and even the dog was given treats!

This little pub is a hidden gem. I came in for a glass of wine and noticed the customers next to me eating curry. It looked delicious so I ordered a butter chicken with rice. Absolutely amazing, by far the best curry I’ve had in a very long time. The Merlot wine is really nice also. Service from Wez was excellent, it’s a very warm and inviting pub. I will definitely return and recommend to others.

The place is overrated. Initially reserved the place for 6.30pm and received a text message from Pinky saying they are charging 8 quid for entry, given I booked on the 23rd December and they told me on the 27th December, so we said we'll come in a bit early so her response was you'll need to be "gone by 6.45pm ish", I would have told her to do one but given it would have been difficult to find another place last minute we persisted thinking it's only her that's being rude. But in person she was also arrogant. The positive was the person serving us he was good. The food was average at best. And we were sat in what was at the back in some dated makeshift dining area. --- In response to below, I've updated the comment about when they wanted to charge for entry/the price, however we weren't greeted or welcomed but someone did say goodbye which was redeeming, however the comment on the whole still reflects our experience. So if you do feel that you do treat customers nicely maybe so on other occasions with other customers it may be true, but it certainly wasn't the case for us.

Came here for the Company Christmas bash . Excellent food outside , service was “ nothing is too much trouble “ Dhruv was an excellent host , along with the entire crew. Lots of Beers and Spirits available and non Alcoholic beers . Service was fast in the bar , considering how busy it was . Friendly atmosphere, and we had good craic with the locals too !

Love the Divo Grill & Spicy Mogo when they are extra crisp and spicy.

We booked Karoga ( self cooking, outdoor) and it was great experience. Ideal for small party or family gatherings. They provide all the materials and either you can cook or they can cook for you. Seating around the fire stove with your friends in cold winters night was great experience. Veg and non-veg options are available. Person helping us cook, his name was Dhruv and he was fantastic and very helpful.

We have been coming here for over 10 years. Last night, we had a great time at our annual Diwali karoga event at Nico’sBlack Horse. The service was excellent, with our needs carefully catered to, and the staff were polite and attentive. Our group had a fantastic time, and we would highly recommend this venue for anyone for a great night out with friends and family.

I have visited Blackhorse after a few years. Booking was easy and as always I booked through WhatsApp and it was so easy. I had a visiting couple from Australia and we arranged reunion with several others. We were 14 in total. We were given a private room which was great. I used to remember great service at this pub. A designated waiter would come to the private area and check everything was ok. It wasn’t the case last night. We had to go to the bar to grab attention. There were a couple of other things I was disappointed about. We had a specific dietary requirement and we had given in the information weeks in advance and were promised that it would be catered for. On the evening we were told it wasn’t possible. The pub closing time on a Sunday is 10:30pm but we were hurried to leave at 10pm. As I said overall the the service is not as it used to be.

Excellent service and the food was amazing! atmosphere was spot-on! The staff members Max and Theresa was absolutely amazing, they were welcoming and made sure we were well taken care of! We were a family of 7 and we are differently going back! Highly recommend

The price is high for size of serving . There is hardly any fish per order . Taste is not good for the vegetable samboosa . Curry tastes is good for both dishes. Bread is thick and not easy to digest.

Sunday night i and my husband was there and the staff is so friendly as well food was finger licking delicious we ordered chilli paneer, lahori fish, chicken jalfrezi along with tandoori naan. Overall the ambeince was preety good and there service 5/5 . We love the vibe of pub and the time we spend there was amazing

We went for a family dinner over the Bank Holiday weekend. Our server/waitress, Teresa was excellent and gave some very good food recommendations and made sure our seating arrangements were ideal for us. All the vegetarian food options are great, especially the Mogo, chilli paneer and jeera rice. However, most other items tried were very good and the selection of drinks is good also. The chef(s) are excellent! For the nice atmosphere, food choices, drinks and general service by all the staff, this local pub and restaurant is strongly recommended. Well done ago all there and look forward to my next visit.

Booked Koroga night for boys.. it was a great service and very helpful staff..nice private area was arranged for us to have good food and enjoy our koroga. Owner of Black horse just popped in to ask if everything was OK... that shows they care for their customers and provide them with best service so they have returning customers. Didn't have enough time for us to enjoy out doors due to local residents around there .. but they arranged for a table for us inside.. that was good. Live music was too loud, bar staff couldn't hear what we wanted to order. That can come down a notch or 2. Other than that it was great experience at black horse Northwood hills. I would recommend this place for sure ... Will visit here soon again.

We had a family wake there for 30+ people in Aug 2024. The room looks out on to the garden and was ideal and with amazing weather we could spread out into a lovely secluded garden. Food arrived on time with great service at the bar for our guests.many thanks to all.

This pub serves the best Indian food in the area . It’s friendly, with a great atmosphere and the staff are amazing. We watched many of the recent European championship games here and even though it was packed the service from Max , Theresa, warsi, Neave and the rest of the staff was still first class . Couldn’t recommend it highly enough !

A pleasant evening here, have been meaning to come for a while. We teamed up the visit with a pub quiz which was good fun and also enabled us to get 15% off the food bill by participating. Ordered a melody of starters and overall we were happy but could be improved slightly. Crispy bhajia was good and exactly as the name describes, crispy but not too thin. The chilli garlic mogo was ok, there could have been more masala and perhaps a slightly bigger portion. The platter was mixed, chicken items were better than the lamb options and the sauces were alright. Jeera chicken was decent We would definitely come back to try the main courses, karoga etc.. Internally it could do with some better lighting and modernising as it feels a little dated especially near the bar.

Went to celebrate son’s birthday, we all had a nice time , enjoyed Indian food and karaoke 🎤.must try Mix Grill. Highly recommend.

Looks run down inside, dirty and needs a massive revamp. Service however was great and friendly.

Had 24 in the bar last night for my 60th Birthday. Pre ordered a buffet from the menu which was fabulous, the staff where great, service was very good. Only one tiny moan the DJ played lots of young music despite there being an older crowd in the pub. When he played a few 80s dance tracks people danced and enjoyed themselves, but they didn't last long enough.

Has this pub changed owners? We didn't eat just popped in for a couple drinks. I had a glass of pinot blush, which I felt was watered down. My partner had a flat pint of fosters. I tried a large glass of white pinot for my second drink and that was also definitely watered down. My partner had a double JD and coke but it had no smell and did not taste of JD. This pub is walking distance from where we live and we have never had this issue before, but those drinks were not what we paid for and they weren't cheap either compared to other places

If you are looking for a good curry, look no further. Excellent food! The live music was great and for that, we will definitely be back.

Had planned to try an Indian pub/restaurant that was dog friendly with parking this ticked the boxes. We had reserved table for 7 but the sitting wasn’t really planned well with sort of a stool for 7th person, too cramped but was soon adjusted upon mentioning of it. The cocktails were non existent, beer was on the tap. Papadums could be introduced on the house with the chutneys. We ordered quite a few starters and they all were good. Where it fell short was the main course the quantity was not doing justice to the price tag. Taste was decent little too saucy for the gravy. Karaoke is a good idea but the place is small and it was way too loud! An after meal sweet or something was missing. Parking is first come first served. Overall good except the few points specific above and will not hesitate to visit again.

The food here is 10/10, my girlfriend brought me here and ordered and i was sceptical buy i was blown away. Amazing food and great service from Teresa.

The food was outstanding since I have been to so many other pubs but this one is just the best. The Panner and mogo are just so good and the drinks over there are cheap so is the food and the best thing about this place is that I have been coming here since 3 years and they never let me down and always the experience is better and better.

My partner and I quite enjoyed it. It's very much a standard pub atmosphere. The football was on, so it was a bit noisy at times but what can do you expect? The young man who served us was friendly and polite, and the food was decent quality for decent value. We'd happily go again. Just expect good quality pub food.

I’ve been here a few times and love the hospitality but twice in a row now, we’ve literally been turned away at 10 pm, when the closing time is clearly listed as 11 pm. The guy at the bar tells us (same guy twice) that there are no customers so he needs to shut, and turns us paying customers away. What poor service and name for an otherwise lively place.

A group event on a comedy night. The comedians were fab, as was the chkn curry. The pub was clean with a warm, friendly atmosphere. We all had a fabulous evening. 👌

Went for a Bollywood evening with a group of friends to this pub. The food was delicious , service was great and the music and DJ were really good. We wanted to dance so they moved a few tables to accommodate us. Highly recommend this place if you want to go and let your hair down.
