Lovely setting for an evening meal with the family. Child friendly. Service was not very good at all, it was slow. We were forgotten about, when I tried to get the waitress attention to order more drinks she walked past us three times. It was the only thing that would put me off returning.

I come here to meet a friend around 2-3 every year. The prices have sky rocked from average to near day light robbery. I wanted the Caesar salad, but to add some chicken was £8 extra on top of £17.50 for the Salad!!! Service was good, with some very friendly staff members, especially the member of staff who greeted me on the day.

This was a disappointing meal, largely because of the poor service. It took ages for us to order despite going to the outside bar to ask, and from during down to getting our mains was 1hr 25mins. No apology was offered. We also had to remind the waiter to bring drinks we ordered. To add insult to injury, there is a 12.5% service charge. The food was average, nothing special, but, considering the prices, was disappointing. We could live with that, but the service was so poor as to make this a bad experience. Never again.

This a delightful restaurant with much to commend it. We went for lunch. It wasn't busy, so the service was speedy and welcoming. The only downside was a raucous group in the bar. We had fish and chips. Although the haddock was generous-sized and well cooked, there was no taste of haddock. The chips might have been cooked three times, but they weren't triple cooked, these were undercooked chunky chips. Instead of a crispy outside, the largest were hardly coloured and had a stodgy centre

Overpriced drinks and food. 15 quid for an aperol spritz?! The burger was half the size of the bun and when asked if this is normally they said that’s how it’s meant to be. Definitely not worth the price considering how uninspiring it was. They even forgot to get my drink until I went up to ask them for it. I know there’s inflation and this is in a more fancy area where people are riding around in fancier cars but this is sub par.

I have booked this pub for food and sporting events previously. I booked a table and was told I needed a deposit all of a sudden for a table which caught me off guard. I said I would call back once I have exact amount of numbers confirmed. Bearing in mind my table was booked 4 days in advance I was only given less than 24 hours to confirm and my table was cancelled without notice. There was nothing on the website to say for one specific day they would need deposits. I feel this is awful service by the pub. It seems like they are just trying to cash in on the football event.

This place looked great, but unfortunately the service wasn't. We arrived on a really hot day and couldn't order drinks from the bar, it was table service only. No drinks arrived after 25 minutes so we asked again. Ten minutes later we got our drinks. We were going to eat there and scope it out to book a room in the future. However, we left and ate somewhere else. If the service was this slow it wasn't worth waiting for. Also, the price of food put us off. If you are going to pay high prices, the service should be excellent. The waitress was nice.

Came in group of 6. Waited 1 hour and only half of the ordered food came out. Food is overpriced and the taste was not worth it. £22.50 for a Sunday roast beef dish, including only 2 small pieces of beef, 2 potatoes and half of carrot. It was supposed to come with fries, vegetable and cheesy cauliflower as well but they were never brought out. The kitchen/waitress forgot??? Came here for a family 21st birthday lunch in a bubble outside. Heard such great things for years, have been a couple of times but now I definitely would not return. Food was unbelievably overpriced. Two starters were cold when they arrived, when remade they were covered in oil. The service was incredibly slow to start, then when we complained regarding the cold starters, manager didn’t even apologise. The rest of the food was very average, glasses weren’t cleared, bubble we sat in was cold and covered in mould. When we requested blankets they didn’t arrive until half way through our mains after asking multiple times. Generally a very underwhelming experience. Shocked when the bill arrived at the extortionate prices. I had to ask the barman to remove the two sold starters, still no acknowledgement from management. I have worked in pubs for years and I was so disappointed by the service and lack of recognition from management. Such a shame as the pub has so much going for it! What has happened!

On questioning the staff of what exactly we were eating she went into the kitchen to find the contents of the bag were a vegan scampi alternative. Just as well we didn’t have food allergies either as we weren’t asked before we dined. Won’t be going back and does make you wonder what else is being dished up as alternative substitutes.

What an incredible tasting experience. We popped in on our way home. It is a lovely little pub with a farm shop out the back. Different quirky places to sit and a great deal.on 2 courses if you book in advance. The food was to die for. My favourite dish was the mushrooms on toast with mushroom ketchup. Portion sizes are very reasonable and we had to ask for a takeaway box. It is on the expensive side for us (4 adults, 2 courses each cost £175 including tip) but all our dishes were well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Wth this quality and level of detail, it was worth the price.

A group of us came for brunch and despite it being quiet, and there being plenty of staff shooting in and out of their hiding places the service wasn't great. We had a variety of cooked breakfasts and other brunch offerings, three people had scrambled eggs that were only borderline cooked and therefor they left them, the toast was huge slabs that were really hard to cut, almost dried as well as toasted, tomatoes were hard. We didn't complain as our purpose was to have a catch up but the plates were cleared without anyone asking us if the food had been ok or querying the amount of left food. Just small details that made it average and maybe stand out a bit for the wrong reasons, the rest of the food on the plates was good. Looking at the reviews recently and my passed experiences of dining here it's clear something has changed. This place was always expensive but the quality of food and service made that acceptable. I hope they read the reviews on here and have a reflect on how to get back to their previous standards.

So far so good. The bad news is that both food and drink are very expensive and to be honest not 'up to much'. The wife had dined here before and said it was expensive but we decided to give it another 'go'. We obviously went at the wrong time! We arrived around 1pm for anniversary lunch. Drinks arrived promptly-but that was the only thing that did. A starter to share arrived after a long wait, it was OK and homemade spring rolls. Our mains took forever and appeared around 2.20!!! Other tables were waiting ages too. After the long wait a fish and chips and home made sausages appeared. The fish was a small thin piece covered in thick batter, it's saving grace was the batter was crispy at least. The sausages we're very nice though. Other people coming in after us got their food a lot quicker and their fish looked a lot more appetising than my husbands did! We've eaten better and for less money (Chester 2 weeks ago for instance) so will not be rushing back anytime soon. This morning was the 2nd bad experience I’ve had with The Black Horse in the space of a week. As a pre lockdown regular to this establishment I’m afraid to say it’s gone majorly down hill. On Saturday 24th April I visited for a late lunch for my birthday with family. We ordered drinks and food but was told the food would be a wait due to how busy they were. Not an issue as I understand during these times. The starters arrived and were nice and up to usual food standards. Between starters and mains we had to ask 4 different people for a glass of ice! How hard is it to bring a glass of ice? I also had to ask more than 3 times for drinks that I’d ordered that hadn’t arrived to the table. When the main courses came the waitress dropped both dinners she was carrying all over the table. I understand that accidents happen but she didn’t really apologise and had to be promoted to remove the food and replace the meals. The meals were eventually replaced but were not the same standard as the original meals and the portions were smaller and looked like they had been thrown together with no care. My partner ordered a salad with chicken on top. The chicken was forgotten and by the time they had brought it out we had nearly all finished eating. Both burgers that were ordered had no cheese & bacon in that was requested upon ordering. Again I had to ask more than twice for more drinks that had not come. It seemed to be a common occurrence for us asking for things more than once. This really should be addressed by management as it’s unacceptable. When the bill came we had drinks added onto it that we hadn’t even ordered. I had to challenge the waitress to get these removed. We spent over £400 but felt that due to the poor service we would not be paying the service charge. When challenging to remove it the young lady started to be very rude and abrupt about it us wanting to remove it. She had little if any customer service skills and this is not how paying customers should be treated. Today I also visited for breakfast with my partner and son. We waited ages for food again. When breakfast arrived my partners scrambled eggs on toast looked like a mashed up omelette. The sausages were missing from my full english and my fried eggs were all burnt underneath. When we complained to the waitress she told us that she was sorry but non kitchen staff were working in the kitchen? Why would you use non kitchen staff in the kitchen? To add to insult all the food that was served was stone cold and had to wait another 20 minutes for some cutlery for us to even eat our food and by then it wasn’t worth it. The food was absolutely disgraceful for £30 and I would of been better off going to Wetherspoons. Both occasions have now put me off returning to our local The Black Horse. On conclusion the breakfast/service needs serious improvements. Some of the staff are un professional and rude and need improvements in customer service skills and how to deal with people. I would not recommend The Black Horse to anybody and I will be writing a formal complaint to the manager about my experience as it was totally unacceptable.

The Blackhorse was a regular place for us to eat and pop in for drink. We went for a family lunch under the rule of 6 during the pandemic. A large group of men, not socially distancing, ordering shots and bottles of vodka with a couple of plates of chicken wings welcomed us!! They were loud and swearing. Another family and us complained to the Manager who was useless and thought it was ok for this group to carry on having a party and she went to move us outside!! When we said it should be 6 people from the same household with a substantial meal she said she could only go by the information they gave her!! Totally useless, obviously the pub was earning more from them drinking than two families having lunch!! We left never to go back. Don't bother to visit unless you want to get Covid!!!

Upon arriving restaurant was very cold as mention by the 2 ladies next to us who kept their gloves on.When mentioning to waitress didn’t seem to care.Poor service generally.Crispy beef salad tough and like leather as seemed to be more like biltongSteaks ordered rare and medium but both rare , couldn’t be bothered sending back as to cold and wanted leave and also left half the steak.Dangerous bit wasOn arrival you have cutlery for 3 courses on the table and if you are only having starters the waitress removed the rest of the cutlery. On 2 occasions customers I witnessed had touched the cutlery and then removed by waitress and put back straight into cutlery draw without cleaning/sanitising which totally shocked me and must break every COVID law going.I spoke to an alleged manageress who frankly didn’t give a damn !!! And was more interested in her friends sitting opposite!!!Used to rate this pub but will not be going back.

I love this pub , the food is great, not cheap but you get what you pay for in my eyes . the regular staff are great and friendly and they are on you soon as you walk in . but today was an exception . we had booked a table and pre booked our food so we did not have to wait long . the four girls behind the bar where more interested in chatting to one another than actually being interested in your paying customers . I usually do not have wait or have to ask for drinks when i have been sat at a table for more than 10 min considering there seemed to be more staff than customers . Food did not come out all at once ? Drinks took forever , list goes on i just felt we had to keep chasing them to get what we wanted, even the bill took 3 of them to finally get it for us !!! Bill came and was charged £9.66 service charge . I always tip in here but thats because the waiter /waitress deserves it . But you are having a laugh charging me this today i should off questioned it but company present decided to decline . Real shame because you have gone to great lengths to make your pub so covid proof , place is a shadow of itself and if your staff do not care then why should i ? Hopefully things wont go from bad to worse again and you have close your doors again for another lock down !! And not one of them can pull a pint of Guinness if they did that in Ireland there be a riot !!! Great food but your staff lack customer service .

A friendly restaurant serving very nice food, although charging top prices for meals that are not that special. No drinks menus and prices were outrageous for a gin and tonic, presented again in a very basic glass, no lemon/lime, or extra touch.Bar staff had no knowledge of what was on offer and a drinks menu would have helped them.Bar was heaving and in no way COVID friendly and the smell from the toilets filled the whole pub.Happy to pay for something good, but this was far from exceptional but wouldn't take much to get it where it needs to be.Either reduce your prices to reflect what you offer,or invest in your staff, menu and service, if you are looking for your guests to return.

Came here with a friend, the food was pretty average and very over priced for basic pub food. It is let down by the service and staff attitudes. I understand the pressures that the staff are under in the current climate but the managements attitude has not changed since my last visit. Will not be returning and would not recommend.

We came here for lunch and had made a reservation. We were seated and served quickly. The staff were friendly and very well organised. The food is lovely, though overpriced when compared to other pubs. Would recommend the sausage and mash.

We went there last week 4th October to have a Sunday roastIt was very pricey at 19.75 for a mixed roast, but we haven't been out for a while and thought we would treat ourselves, The roast was awesome the meat was cooked very well and there was a good amount of it, could of been one or two more potatoes but we were still full by the end of the mealwhat I was very disappointed with was being charged nearly £7 for a pint of beer and over £11 for a glass of wineI think we all agree we don't mind paying for quality but there is a line you cross when you feel you are being ripped offand course there was still a service chargeSorry but I won't be eating or drinking there again

Really good food, we had an amazing mixed roast. Also the melted camember with bread was amazing. They even had a good selection of wines. The problem is the service, absolutely terrible. Probably the slowest waiters I’ve ever had, and even a bit rude. We waited so long to get food and everything then came together (starters and mains). It just seems that the waiters would prefer to do anything else rather than being there and serve clients. 4 stars for the food, 0 stars for the service.

Fantastic renovation, beautiful pub, fantastic layout, and facilities. However, let down by the staff, slow, inattentive, had to ask for menus, orders were wrong, not once were we asked if we would like anything else. Waitress looked like she hated her job and didn’t smile once. Such a shame the staff let down such a lovely pub.

Very good food served by friendly staff. This was the second visit in a week. I really like this place and will definitely go back again. Overall a good experience. It was very busy on both occasions- both Mondays so the Eat Out to Help Out deal applied. It's fair to say there didn't appear to be enough staff given the amount of guests there were, but those who were certainly apologised for any delays. They were very welcoming and friendly. I wholeheartedly support this place which continues to serve excellent food and drink in a safe environment whilst adapting during difficult times.

I've been to this pub twice in 2 weeks and both times really disappointed. The 1st time our orders were mixed up, thr bill was wrong and service was slow.Yesterday I went there again and couldn't believe how poor the service was. 30 minutes after seating I had to get up and and order drinks at the bar (I commented on how it looks like we are forgotten about) as no one approached us. We waited for a while and again had to ask if anyone could take our food order and then was told the kitchen is closed! We arrived at 8pm for dinner and after our only option was dessert! Definitely not going there again!

Such a massive shame. Our lunch was failed in so many levels. But the winning failure was the non existent service from lazy staff who couldn't have given less of a @#&* that we were spending money with them. Without hesitation I removed the service charge from our bill and had it not been for the Eat Out to Help Out discount we received on the meal I would have been livid. Such a shame that this appears to be the only place to eat in the area. The setting is lovely. Food average and overpriced for what it is. Service diabolicle. Will not return and we only live in Beaconsfield.

Came here with a group of 9 of us after work for dinner. Was fairly busy the service wasn't great, had to get our own menus, our second order of drinks never arrived so had to collect them ourselves and was told it would take ages for them to take payment at the end so they told us to queue up at the bar and pay ourselvesFood was really good but only knowing we were getting 50% off otherwise not worth the expensive pricesAlso bought a 'jam' donut from the farm shop which had virtually no jamif you're going to go - recommend the sharing bread board for £6 as get a lot of bread for the money and comes out warm!

Really poor experience:- Poor Covid preps. Reused menus. Insufficient distance between table. No contact tracing. People rammed in with no thought to the dangers they are causing. - Menu choice really poor. Think ribs and burgers and you are about there. Really expensive for what it is - £30 for an 8oz steak. - Very loud band playing when we arrived. - Drinks took 20 mins to turn up. - We moved tables because of the noise. And told the waiters twice to make sure they didn’t think we had left. - starters didn’t turn up after 1 hour. - Owner was really rude. Blamed us and said we could have our food or leave. He didn’t care. One of the nastiest people I have ever met. Other reviews say some really horrible things about this guy. Google him!!!- So we left and went to the Crown Inn in Farnham Common. Which was awesome.

We have eaten here quite a few time’s over the years and the food is good but not great. The service is usually friendly but there are frequently long food wait times. Seems quite pricey for what you get.

Honestly the food was delicious & we both absolutely loved it ... even if it was missing the cheese off the burger BUT then the I guess that makes up for the staff... we arrived at 12pm with two other groups in the large garden, no staff greeting so we took a table keeping our distance from the other tables. Once we where finally clocked by a member of staff they came over rudely asked if we booked & when we responded with a no we got an eye roll & she walked off as if we shouldn’t have been there & we where a hindrance ... about 5 minutes or so later she brought over a menu & took our drink order!! For the first round of drinks they where brought over on a tray after it had been to another table first ... but after that & for many other customers they where carrying drinks over in their hands ... holding them at the rim of the glasses (plastic glasses), non of the staff where wearing a mask, gloves or even using hand sanitizer between customers. Considering we are in the middle of a pandemic I feel like they could be doing a lot more ... we also didn’t even have any details taken from us for the track & trace. Having been to a number of pubs since the reopening the black horse did very little to make it safe and secure. Overall the food was amazing but it was let down by the staff & cost of a beer!!!

If your idea of a rare old time is spending the best part of a tenner on a pint, served with a scowl by a late pubescent who would literally rather be anywhere than having to spend valuable nanoseconds away from the 'gram, in your dreary presence, earning a crust, then the Black Horse awaits your visit like a pit full of punji sticks.Perhaps you are the weary walker in need of sustenance in Fulmer's number one (of one) eating house? Well then, you won't mind your appetite being keened by a protracted wait whilst someone summons the energy to take your reassuringly expensive order. And then a not inconsiderable delay awaiting its delivery.Come the weekend and the tastes of the more hedonistic patron are amply catered for as you join the line of cheerfully aggressive, Lynx-perfumed youths at the outdoor bar as they cordially swear at each other across the spacious and comfortable beer garden, all the while engaging in a subtly nuanced romantic gavotte with their immaculately-eyebrowed, harridan-voiced female counterparts. All in all a very special and cherished hostelry which will hopefully stay open for ever and never be destroyed completely by localised asteroid strike.

Service wasn’t great. Had to ask twice for drinks. Food was good but expensive. What was more concerning was there was no social distancing. Tables were too close together in restaurant and staff didn’t wear masks. Toilets were nasty too. Would go back but only if we could sit in their lovely outside space.

I have to say, The Black Horse has re-opened and they have done it properly! The garden has been re-organised to allow for social distancing, the staff were very respectful of their distancing to customers whilst being as helpful as possible, and the service was fantastic. The food was of course as delicious as ever! To anyone venturing out for their first outing after this lockdown I would highly recommend this pub.
