Bertram's Cafe in South Bucks

We love going here, staff are friendly, food is amazing and there's the garden centre to wander around afterwards. Brilliant way to spend an afternoon

Wow ..not been before but met a friend at Bertram’s cafe at Smiths Garden Centre for lunch. I had the quiche and salad and tea and my friend the Soup and Latte . It was really good . There was so much food choice other customers were eating hot food there was a good selection to choose from. Great value for money too . The service was excellent Sarah Lisa & Jackie were so friendly and helpful would definitely recommend it .

Tasty bakery, filter coffee was not so good as expected (Germans filter coffee still unbeatable 🙂)..friendly staff

Popular venue with cheerful smily staff offering a variety of light lunches, cakes and drinks. Most of the tables inside and out are shaped up for seating couples but can be pushed together for larger groups. Bacon and sausage fillers for sandwiches are good quality.

The danish pastries are delicious here, not tried the other food but the breakfasts looked good

WAS THERE SUNDAY 20TH JULY SEEMED VERY DISORGANISED THE ALL DAY BREAKFAST I ORDERED NEVER CAME AFTER 25 MINUTES ASKED FOR A REFUND NO PROBLEM WITH THAT BUT THAT WASNT THE POINT I SHALL NOT BE REVISITING

My elderly parents like to go to Bertram's for lunch a couple of times a week, but the availability of food is ridiculous. Unless they are there by 1pm at the latest, there are literally no sandwiches or rolls left, or barely any to choose from. This cafe is very, very popular, yet clearly the food stock is lacking, or they just make a certain number of rolls and then you are left with nothing if you come too late. How can 1pm be too late for lunch?? Really stupid way to run a business as they are doing themselves out of trade. A deep shame as the overall food quality and service is good in nice surroundings.

We decided to have breakfast on Father’s Day in the cafe nearest to our home. Our first visit there and we have been waiting OVER AN HOUR for our breakfast. We arrived at 10.10 and spend in the queue 15 min due to the fact that customers are waiting for the drinks to be put on their trays for them. Then long, over an hour ,wait for food. It is sad that this happened. One of the staff came to us saying’ I don’t know what happened’ and offered a complimentary drink. When food arrived staff did not say sorry for long wait, the staff did not offered cutlery or sauces etc. We still had to get it ourselves. It was a long and tiring morning as we are a family of 5 with baby and toddler. Our order was simple 3 full English breakfast. The food was of good quality. We particularly enjoyed the sausages. It is hard to appreciate a meal after such a long wait. Once we left , there was no one to say Good Bye, thank you from coming. No one asked is the food ok while we had our meal either. We left and we won’t be going back.

Great full English - cooked to order. Not the cheapest but quality food 👍.

This place is fabulous and well worth a visit when you are at the garden centre. Food is scrummy, place is spotless and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Can't fault it at all.

Bertram's Café is always welcoming and my husband and I always enjoy a tea or coffee there. The staff are lovely, helpful and friendly too. Keep up the good work.

This cafe is in Smiths Garden Centre, Uxbridge. Apart from this being one of my favourite garden centres, I can't visit without having lunch at Bertram's. The full range of 5 stars is totally deserved. Try it!

Cafe at Smiths Garden Centre. Serving light snacks and drinks. After a disappointing slim down after Covid, we have not been to Bertram's for some time. However, on our recent visit, it was very much improved. Food offering much improved and seating extended. Going by the popularity we saw, it looks like others feel it worth a visit. Very busy over the lunch period when we visited and most seating taken. However we were happy with our food and drink. Inside and outside seating available, and toilets too. There is plenty of parking available at this Smith's Garden Centre.

Stopped for a coffee while considering plants. Very busy place, seating a premium but lovely people, worth the struggle. Weird they don't give out the WiFi password!

It's seem nice but get there early as the close kitchen 45 mins early.

Fantastic food .staff very friendly. 2 lovely lady's making the coffee had great humour. Highly recommended

Great menu, well cooked food, excellent service in a calm atmosphere.

Quite a long wait for cooked food. Had an all-day English breakfast which was £9.99 including a free Americano or pot of tea which is pretty good value for the area. There was a 20 minute wait for the food to arrive after ordering. My EE mobile phone signal was fairly weak here and there wasn't any Wi-Fi available.

Very busy so be prepared to queue and pounce on a table as it becomes available. I had the fish and chips which was really good. The baked potato came with a mountain of tuna filling. Really big portions all round and reasonable prices, no wonder it's popular.

Service good, fish hot, peas need to be a different brand, minute! Oh, no Wi-Fi which is bad news in a cafe, where else would that happen???

A very pleasant surprise. We got lost in the area and went into Smiths garden centre for help and discovered Bertrams. The staff were so courteous and pleasant. We ordered haddock and chips. Absolute ly delicious ( great chef!) and were very generous in size. The menu was very comprehensive, including soups, sandwiches, baked potatoes, ciabatas, and cakes. Etc. Reasonable prices. Will definitely go back! (.Easy parking)

Gluten free afternoon tea was excellent thank you so much for catering to GF in such an easy welcoming ways. Staff lovely and lots of very good coffee too. 🙂

This is a great garden centre, but Bertrams Cafe is also a great place to meet friends for a coffee and also now enjoy their extended menu including the return of the all day breakfast. They also offer a full range of pastries,cakes, toasted sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes and so much more. Definitely worth a vist!

Popped into cafe on the 27th June hoping since the pandemic the food would have improved alas no dinners just sandwiches, pies, jacket potatoes. I used to love the cooked breakfast & lunches. The staff are lovely & clean but not much choice food wise. Rather disappointed.

Had a meeting there this morning with an old work colleague for coffee. I travelled in from Hertfordshire. What a lovely coffee shop, we sat outside in the sunshine at a very clean table & chairs. The staff were very attentive & there was a great choice of food. There was so many plants & products available & the staff weren't about to help. I shall be coming back another day soon with my wife & spend more time exploring.

Busy cafe, popular and I would dare to say not expensive, I hope the don't put the prices up now😬. Nice sunny patio area for those summer days, and plenty of indoor space. Generously filled rolls and sandwiches and jack potatoes.....

A poor replacement for the cafe originally in the garden centre. Occasionally there are some young people on duty who are pleasant, but on the whole the staff are a fairly miserable bunch. The food on offer is very limited, and along with the coffee is on the expensive side. The last visit was just before 3.30 and we were given a proper cup, but those after us in the queue paid the same high price but were given take-away cups "as it was close to closing and they had been busy". It is OK but I would not recommend it to anyone.

Called in to the garden centre as we wanted something to do on a rainy day. We had intended to have coffee and cake, but decided to skip the cake as the average price seemed to be over £5 for one piece and if you wanted a sandwich then it would cost an extra £1.25 to have it toasted. The cafe was run by children who did not seem to have much idea of customer service and were happy to serve milk in filthy unwashed jugs, which incidentally should come with a warning as jugs without handles containing hot milk, burn your fingers. I may call in again if my life is ever without purpose and I have won the lottery and am able to afford a piece of cake to chomp, whilst I admire the vacuous care free staff. !

My husband and I visited today and it was our first visit since the renovation. Before the cafe got redone we would often come and get a breakfast as it was the best breakfast in town so we were very disappointed to learn today the new cafe no longer sells the breakfast. In fact the old menu was far better than what is in place now which is just another coffee and cake place...it's such a shame..I don't understand why they changed the menu. Also the service is now alot slower...

My wife and I had the quiche and it was totally amazing, well worth the money as we're the cakes we had. It is still a shame that the original area and kitchen is no longer used.

I think they need to put more coffee in the coffee, the cup I had was tasteless.

Always a friendly welcome with a good range of hot and cold drinks and tasty food. A welcome oasis for rest after all that shopping!

Bertrams was better before being refurbished. It's more coffee shop with cakes, sandwiches and jkt potatoes. Prices have increased too.

Ok garden centre cafe but not much atmosphere and seats are very hard and uncomfortable. Flowerland garden centre cafe in Iver is far superior.

This cafe *used* to be great. Post pandemic, what was a busy, thriving establishment has been reduced to a coffee shop (and a poor one at that). The staff lack warmth. Their prices are daylight robbery (Baked spud with tuna - £7.99) - seriously??? My friend and I made the mistake of trying their bacon and sausage sandwich for breakfast last weekend. A full twenty-five minutes after placing our order, it finally appeared. The excuse given for the excessive waiting time was “They’re cooked to order.” How do they cook bacon and sausages then - one at a time over a candle? The sausages lacked taste and the bacon was so full of fat as to be practically inedible. This establishment obviously buys the cheapest stuff it can find then charges their customers hugely over-inflated prices. This place is a very poor shadow of what it once was. Absolutely shocking.

A lovely inexpensive cafe, the staff are lovely and the food is fresh and cooked nicely. It's part of Smith's Garden Centre and is my local, so we go there quite often, cheap and cheerful. On a nice day there's outdoor seats to enjoy a view of the sheds and statues!

Today was an unusual experience at this cafe, I think because they were just about to close, but the cake selection was disappointing and the kitchen was closed. Normally however it's a 4 or 5 star place. Lovely cake and a nice selection of hot food and sarnies.

This cafe is set inside Smith's Garden Centre and is very popular with people visiting the garden centre The garden centre is very big and has a whole range of plants, gifts, clothes etc. The added bonus is that it has this cafe. It was really busy when we visited but managed to get a table in the recently extended building adjoining the main cafe. The soup was delicious and it was a pleasure to look around the garden centre at leisure after lunch.

This is a pleasant cafe with very friendly staff. The coffee and food were good and there were gluten free items to choose.

We often visit the garden centre but increasingly dont use the cafe except for coffee. A good variety of food is available and the Sunday lunch always seems popular but I just think it is very overpriced for what it is. You can eat inside or outside here and the outside area is currently being refurbished.

We visited Bertrams cafe yesterday for a light snack,the service was very good,staff were very pleasant,prices were good value.I would visit again!

Great place to relax and enjoy good food

My second time there, and not an experience I would like to repeat.!! Being very hungry I ordered the jacket potatoes, which arrived cold, and like old leather in texture in fact impossible to cut. Almost like it had been microed many times over. My complaints weren't taken seriously, and I left not at all satisfied. Wasn't offered anything.

Lovely little cafe with good staff. The renovations look to be nearly finished, so capacity should be going up soon.

Easy parking, excellent facilities, great home cooked food and the toilets have good quality toilet paper. 😀

My wife and I eat here on a regular basis and the food is allways 1st class and the staff friendly and helpfully.

Used to be lovely about 2 years ago but so much has changed in so little time. Staff utterly useless and rude. Breakfast no longer being sold all day. No longer have a drinks fridge, no longer have any drinks for that matter. Half the things on the menu not available. Seating has changed now so that you give them a table no. and you go back to you table and someone has taken it and then the staff can't find you because of their incompetence.

Service was ok, lady behind the counter was nice, My friend had a salmon and cream cheese sandwich which was very roughly made, the cream cheese was literally plonked in the middle of the bread, and it was falling apart, really unimpressed especially for the price, I asked for a " half heat" latte as I had had a tooth out and it was still really hot, although the guy did offer to put cold milk in it for me, but I just waited for it to cool down, I had a cream tea but had to cut it into tiny pieces, it was ok, just average, nothing to shout about, I can't say I'd recommend it sadly, or go back, which is a shame as it was quite busy, so I'd like to think it was just a bad day!

Located in Smth's Garden Centre, Bertram's Cafe offers a selection of food for breakfast, lunch, and tea. We got the jacket potatoes. The fillings were tasty and generous, but the potato was not cooked thoroughly and was a bit chunky. On the other hand, the Rosehip and Rhubarb cake was outstanding. This cafe is worth a stop if you are in the area.

I visit a from the USA every year a friend living in the area this is an absolute must visit place for food. Home cooked breakfast and lunch reasonably priced quality food.

Good place for quick lunch at Garden Centre

Reasonable out of town cafe that provides a good alternative to the usual chains that dominate the town centre.

The service can be quite slow depending what time of day you visit. The usual garden centre cafe with some good and not so good items on the menu. There is a big outside area being refurbished for the cafe. It should be nice to sit there in good weather.

Unfortunately for me veterans cafe was pretty mediocre but the prices were good

Popular, busy, took quite a while to get 2 coffees.

We were rather upset with the quality of the food and gave it 2 out of 10. The plates were cold as was the toast and the scrambled egg was lumpy and not smooth.
