Great atmosphere since the re-opening this summer. The new owners and staff are friendly and welcoming and the drinks prices/options are excellent.

first time visit & found it to be a small but cosy pub with friendly bar staff . had a karaoke disco on the Saturday night I visited . just the usual hand pulls no real ales .

New management have opened up the black horse.. Kitchen is on the way, but as for drink and atmosphere it's great.

Small pub but it’s a good one! Usually decent beer/bitter on tap which is good as Bathams is near, they do have sports channels on though so you can watch the game. Also has a playground for children so it’s more family friendly than some of the others in the area. As it’s a small venue you can struggle to sit inside on weekends 👍

Lovely staff and cobs very good

I was also with the group who was cornered in the toilets and I absolutely disagree that we upset your customers. Everyone in the pub were dancing and singing along with everyone and no one had issues. The people we spoke to in there said they had no problem with us and were pleased we were cheering people on the karaoke. Multiple people came out and offered to buy us drinks as they didn't want us to leave. Absolutely disgraceful from the manager and you handled the situation poorly. Overall lovely pub just a shame the staff/managers treated us in such a way. We did not once act like it was a playground we came in and lifted the room and everyone was on our level. The rowdy bunch of lads were louder than us but we were the ones in the wrong. Shame on the staff.

First night out with a few friends and we were cornered in the toilets by 2 members of staff. We were told to “shut up” or get the “fxck out”. I was absolutely appauled. We were also blocked out of the pub by the owners partner . We cheered on singers on the karaoke and we are accused of being too loud. Lovely place but absolutely disgusted with the owners attitude.

Well, what can I say. Walked into the pub and there was spiders everywhere, cobwebs hanging from the walls and then 2 ghosts appeared!!! Yep, it's Halloween 👻👻. What was the that? My proper review? Right, well, the food........... Never been here before, but now I'm thinking of moving in. The plates are massive, well worth the money (see pics below, or above 😂) The chicken was the best cooked in the area, like, not dry like the the other local establishments. Kids meals are a good size. Buuuuuuut, the chicken tikka. I ain't going to lie, I was expecting a sauce. But what I got was/is by far the best chicken tikka meal I have ever had. And the massala chips that come with it, well........... Just order it and find out for ya self! Friendly staff aswell, make ya feel like you come in everyday. Will defo come back (once we have it the gym to burn off this food 😂💪😉) Cheers all.

We traveled down in our campervan to have some work done on it. Called in for a pint & was welcomed by the landlord & landlady. Such a lovely friendly couple. Thankyou for everything

Just to noisy for the residents. The language is terrible. Just not fair on the residents. Everyone deserves to have a good time but really? Not again !. We thought when the last landlord left the noise level may be better but to be honest it’s as bad if not worse. We really don’t appreciate the language and shouting and loud music while trying to enjoy our gardens. Have some respect …

Really nice pub, friendly staff will definitely be going back again

Friendly staff and a place to have food and drinks, have only been using ethos pub off and on for several years, but can now see that the staff make you feel comfortable during this current pandemic. Worthwhile to give this pub community support and keep British pubs open.

Fantastic food and great service, even though they were very busy! (Birthday meal, on a Bank Holiday!) The mixed grill was done just right (medium rare steak, as requested) Would recommend and will definitely be visiting again.

On entering the covid restricted in-door with masks we were greeted with a bark of..can you sign in over there. Pointing to an open list of names and personal numbers on a notebook. Great...very secure data collection, I don't think. Well no wonder there was only one other person drinking in the bar and a couple in the smoking area. Yes we have restrictions in place but a bit of courtesy, warm welcone and security of our personal data isn't a huge ask is it?! Will not be heading back any time soon.

New management and what a disaster! Friday evening and they have a DJ/ Singer murdering some old songs. Half a dozen people in the premises and the entertainment is obviously what the management like and have bought from their previous pub. The pub has always been a place where the young and middle aged drink side by side but, no longer. Unless you get DJ’s who plays music from the last 5 years you don’t stand a chance of making this pub the success it used to be. By the way CLEAN THE CARPET!!!!!

This place has gone downhill since new takeover. The pub smelt of dirty chip fat, no ambience in addition to being freezing. Its such a shame as this was a lovely venue when first reopened

The pub holds a Bingo Quiz on Thursday nights with fantastic presentation. Also Play your cards right with cash prizes that rolls over if not won with the total prize fund paid out to the winner. Great night out for all quizzers at a great venue.

Family and I visited this pub and what a great experience. Pleasant bar staff but full marks to the owner Ross...we called ahead to request food that was not on the menu and Ross went out ...bought the ingredients and presented exactly what we requested. Another good day/ night. Always a great atmosphere and friendly staff. Wish it was a little bigger so we could get more friends in there.......looking forward to the next time.

Went here on a Friday night. It was ok for a few drinks before we headed of to town but felt like it was full of kids, when I say kids full of 18year olds but maybe would be different if I came back on a weekday.

Went to family fun day. Staff very welcoming. Nice pub had a great time

Good mix of people & friendly, DJ very good most of the time. I work with clients with special needs & all are made to feel really welcome which is absolutely brilliant for them & myself. Rarely any trouble & the staff are outstanding.

This is more of a pub review than a restaurant review. We've been visiting this pub since the 70s. We stopped going there around 6 or 8 years ago because it went downhill; loutish clientele, grubby carpets, dirty toilets, too much emphasis on sports and darts, too many TVs, loud music, shabby furniture and dated decor.We were delighted to see it refurbed a while ago, completely new layout, new ideas, good food, mature (not fogey) clientele, smart-casual dress.But after a recent visit... oh dear, they seem to have lost the plot, the ethos of their new beginning has given way to the bad old days; loutish, laddish/ladette clientele, baseball caps, trainers, too much emphasis on sports and darts, too many TVs, loud music, screaming toddlers. The place is all too small for kids, if they allow them in at all then they should at least be out by 7.00. In the garden, - no problem.The staff are really nice and friendly, no complaints there. I can’t comment on the food but there’s an excellent choice of drinks.Such a pity they couldn’t maintain the standards from the new beginning, the area is crying out for a really nice, smart pub with a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, more conducive to couples rather than gangs of lads.PLEASE trash the TVs, ditch the darts, mute the music, or at least turn it down a bit. Don’t get me wrong, I like my music, I like it loud - but only in my own home or at a gig, not in a pub when I'm trying to eat and have engaging conversation.PLEASE get back on track, go back the the new beginning!

Good choice of ale but a bit trendy for me

The pub has a lovely atmosphere with a good choice of drinks available. The Birra Morretti and Enville Ginger are delicious. The pizza's are to die for! Simply stunning and this business deserves to do well. The amount of work that has been put in in making it a lovely place to visit whether with children or not is amazing. Keep up the good work.

Met with friends here last week. The girls played on the park whilst we chatted. Previously tried the chicken tikka which was very good

Visited here with the family and had a nice pizza. Unfortunately children were playing football in the 'no ball games' area and knocked our drinks over. The owner had come out only 15 mins before and had not stopped the kiddies playing football. Don't make rules in your pub if you're not prepared to make your patrons abide by them. Won't be visiting again and going home wet!

Ross as transformed this old pub into a cool looking pub with vey nice pizzas and good snacks, not overly priced either. Great atmosphere and lovely garden for the kids, good crowd and Ross really does make the effort with the whole experience. Well done Ross.

I don't know why this pub has not got loads of great reviews. Ross has done so much to cater for families, the foodies and the real ale drinker.
