Whilst staying in Walcote for an event in Luterworth, we just happened to call in for a drink and something to eat, and we were so glad that we did! A friendly local pub with a nice choice of honest pub food, reasonably priced, freshly cooked, and excellent service. If it wasn't for the event we were attending, we'd definitely have spent a very pleasant evening here.

I’ve driven past the Black Horse many times, but have never been in. My son has been in a number of times and so, we decided to celebrate his birthday there with family and friends. The large pool area was gifted to us and ample seating provided so we could all sit, have a natter, and enjoy the food that the pub laid on for us. It’s for such a lovely homely atmosphere and is well served by the local community - I can see why! The staff are lovely, bar prices are very reasonable and there is plenty of room as it’s quite a large pub. The facilities are very clean: sometimes a pub can be let down by the loos! Not here. Really pleasant and nicely decorated. We were made to feel very welcome and having not been before I will certainly be revisiting. Highly recommend.

Just decided to venture out for one else two!😜really lovely atmosphere what a pub used to be & should be👍we ate too and the food was spot on 😍though I wished I’d picked up a couple of sausage rolls off the bar they looked fab too 😆the young bar girl was very attentive nothing too much trouble🤗 we throughly enjoyed our evening & will certainly be returning 🤞

Wonderful evening! Don’t live far away so thought we’d give it a go. We will be back. Delicious food. I mean really delicious! Children played skittles and we had a fun and relaxed night.

Stopped off for a quick point after a job nearby. Don't let the outside appearance fool you..it may look like a house but inside it has the feel of a proper pub. It's run by the community, which is great. So many village pubs have gone. I had a nice pint of session Wherry ale for a very reasonable price and the landlord was a friendly, chatty bloke. Good to see a number of local people in there as well.

Wow - such a lovely, welcoming pub with great food. We were heading to kilworth house and they kindly started serving food early so we could dine with them before the show. So glad we came, there were 10 of us and we ordered a variety of food and it was all cooked well and delicious. I had the veggie burger and it was the nicest I've ever had. The man behind the bar was super friendly and welcoming, and the drinks and food were great value for money. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much!

Saw the reviews of the place and decided to check it out and we were not disappointed. Great place with great food. Hosts were very friendly and welcoming, made us feel comfortable. Charming secluded pub garden. It was Sunday, so had the carvery and ice cream. Everything was really tasty and plentiful. Cooked with care. I would really recommed. Will be returning in future.

Just moved to the area and stumbled across this pub, wasn’t sure from the location but really could not recommend more highly. The food was fantastic lots of choice and great value. Well worth a visit.

We arranged to have Sunday lunch here as a family to celebrate my son's birthday. As we were travelling a long way Emma was extremely helpful and offered to get in some balloons for us and decorate the table - thank you! The food was great, on Sunday there is a choice of two roasts as well as the standard menu. And the chocolate torte dessert is to die for! Thanks Nathan, and for taking my son's nut allergy very seriously (I know places should but you seemed to go that extra mile). Thanks to all the team for a great celebration. We will return.

Recommended by Little Lodge B & B as we were staying there for only one night, popped in for a drink and to check out the menu, very impressed with their Covid measures, booked a table for that evening and had a lovely meal, would definitely revisit and recommend.

My family have stopped here on multiple occasions as the food is excellent and the staff are super friendly. Clean and recently renovated with a good choose of food to suit all, without doubt we will be back.

On a long journey up to York we peeled off the motorway and found The Black Horse. It was just before they stopped serving for lunch but the couldn't have been more welcoming. We all had a lovely plate of ham, egg and chips sitting in the sunshine. This was a welcome break and we will certainly be stopping here again.

We meet up with friends on a regular basis and have always found the food excellent. It is pub grub but extremely well done and presented. Bar is very well stocked with plenty of choice especially gins.We were very impressed with our last meal which happened to be steak night. If 2 people chose this there was a free bottle of wine included. The steak was very tasty and the wine good. They cater extremely well for special dietary requirements and the staff are so pleasant and helpful. It's a pleasure to visit. Can thoroughlyrecommend it.

We visited this place using a Groupon voucher. We were totally impressed by the décor and the quality of the food. WE had the Gammon steak and Liver and onions which were piping hot and well cooked. Will visit again.

My husband and I visited the Black Horse for 2 evening meals on groupon vouchers. The meals were very good and cooked to husbands dietry needs. Service was good and staff friendly. Would recommend

My wife and I went to the pub on a groupon offer and it is the first of many visits we will be making. The food is excellent and the service is polite and efficient and the beer is very good as well. With the offer came a glass of wine and to my surprise we were given the choice of any wine on the wine list, normally with this type of offer you get either the house red or the house white. Go and visit soon you will not be disappointed

I pre-rang to make sure that I could bring my well behaved Shih Zhu. I was told that we could sit in the bar area which was fine. On arrival we were told it's now fine to sit in the restaurant. We settle near the open door and placed my dog under the table. The restaurant was empty apart from some people sitting in the far opposite corner.We were perusing the menu when an abrupt young girl said you can't sit there with that dog. I tried to explain but I was spoken over and told to move to the bar very sternly. She was called Abi. This put a dampers on a night that we were previously enjoying. Our starter was 4 wings that were still wet and soggy, with lots of black veins inside. 2 of our mains came with a small glass of wine to the value of £4. The smallest glass they did was 175ml. So ordered two glasses that were £3.75 and £3.80, but only received 125 ml. I asked why and was told to speak to the manager. The manage said it was all Groupons fault how he was made to word it. We had already spent over £60 on drinks as they were so expensive in there and felt that after our treatment on arrival, the fact that they had already spoilt an evening that we were previously enjoying to now be quibbling over 50ml of wine was not good. I did not eat my pizza and took it home with me as by this point I just wanted to leave. We finished off with a drink at the Plough at Bruntingthorpe and were welcomed with a happy smiley face. Shame that we could not say the same for the Black Horse.

This was a returning visit with a gap of 30yrs. My first impression as I approached the pub from a different angle was that 'I found it hard to recognise' I then found out that the old Black Horse had been demolosished and completely rebuilt a few yards back from the road!The first huge plus for the 'New' Black Horse was that this building was built with wheelchair users in mind. All the doorways are plenty wide enough for both manual and wide wheelbase powerchair. There is a large disabled toilet with plenty of space for chairs and users.Sadly the pub is unable to serve the 'Hoskins and Oldfield' for which I used to visit it for as the Brewery went bust 30yrs ago. But it did offer a good selection of ales and gins.The staff including the chef were extremely accommodating. I was visiting with my cousin and his wife, and we had all forgotten it was Valentines Night. They happily booked the three of us in for a Valentines Special! Surrounded by Couples we had a delicious variety of shared foods and received a few interesting looks from fellow couple diners! The food was of a good standard and of generous portions.A Fine Night was had by all, and I will certainly be visiting again, but may be not next Valentines unless accompanied by my wife!

Traditional pub food with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. We ate in the bar area but there is also a small restaurant/dining area as well as 'sports' room with tv, pool table, darts and skittles. Landlord very pleasant. Would certainly return.

We ate here and really wish we hadn’t bothered. We ordered two pies and veg etc. My partners pie was literally still frozen in the middle. We complained and the waitress said she would take the meal off the bill. No apology at all, she seemed to find it funny that it was frozen. We live local, and definitely don’t recommend this pub to anyone. Food is obviously microwaved.

We had a fabulous meal great service and reasonable price. Would recommend it and noticed good disabled facilities as well.

On arrival we were made very welcome. The menu was wide ranging and offered something for everyone's particular taste.. I had the rump steak well done which was beautifully cooked. Others in our party commented favourably on the quality of the dishes they had chosen. We were offered a wide range of drinks. One of our party is a real ale enthusiast and said the beer he ordered was excellent.

Called in on trip down South from Yorkshire, looking for somewhere to have lunch, we were very lucky to come across the Black Horse, about a mile off the M1. Had a wonderful lunch which set us up for the day.

We called in here, before visiting Kilworth theatre. It is on the main road and in an ideal location, only a mile or so, from Kilworth. Food was good, decent portions, very fresh, service average, staff very friendly, toilets good, car parking free and adjacent.

We always make sure we come here when we come to visit my partner's family. The food is lovely, really hearty fare with plenty of variety and great quality ingredients. The staff are always friendly and extremely accommodating. The drinks selection is extensive and reasonably priced. We love coming here!

Ate here for two evenings and enjoyed the steak both nights which were really lovely and sourced from the local butcher. Good portion sizes and the best onion rings that I have had. Got hooked on their Salty Dog cocktail, which was on special offer. Really friendly pub, great service.

We visited here tonight as we were passing. The pub is lovely and the staff are very friendly. We ordered food which was very nice and presented lovely. Lots of choice on the menu. I would definitely recommend here and look forward to going again.

We visit this pub a lot, for food and drinks, and can vouch for it being a lovely place. The staff are super friendly, the food is fresh and a fantastic variety of gins!!

We thought we would try somewhere different for our girls night out. I’d heard good things about the black horse so we decided to give them a try. We were not disappointed a warm and friendly welcome by the the staff. Also must have a very talented chef as our meals were delicious. We will definitely be paying them another visit soon !! My walking group of 19 enjoyed a good meal and drinks after our Thursday walk. Nathan and Emma opened early for us to order food and use facilities before we walked. They were welcoming and helpful. A great choice of ales including their very own 'Daylight Robbery'.

This was my first visit and I was really impressed. The staff are very nice & my 'fish and chips' were excellent.

The two of us went this evening and I agree with other reviewers that it is a very nice local with a good atmosphere. The young bar and waiting staff are very friendly. I had the venison lasagne- very tasty but Tina struggled a bit to find something she could eat as she is a veggie. There were choices but everything was battered, breaded and deep-fried. What about some fresh grilled fish or a superfood salad. After all the pub does promote itself as vegetarian and vegan friendly.

Thursday evening 8 of us had a meal at this establishment. It was very quiet as England were playing that night and we pretty much had the place to ourselves.

Went on a summer evening. Needed to have our meal early so were told that we could select our menus and chef would prepare it as soon as he arrived. He did. It was piping hot and delicious. Good value for money. Staff were very pleasant. We understood that this is a community pub and the community should be proud of the establishment.

We dropped in on a hot Sunday afternoon and we and out two huskies were royally welcomed. The local ale was delicious and the dogs were given their own water dish outside in the small garden. This friendly community pub offers traditional pub fare which we didn’t sample this time.

Stopped here, as was just off the motorway. Looked suspiciously like a house from the outside, but a warm welcome, great drinks selection and really nice lunch awaited. Very friendly community pub. Will stop there again.

This is a community pub that has not been open long but has already established a very good name for its food and beer (it even has one brewed especially!). We were told that they have the finest chef in Leicestershire but we cannot vouch for that. However, the meat is sourced from a local butcher and the steak was first class.

Me and my boyfriend had absolutely beautiful food here, my steak was cooked to perfection!! Plenty of food for what we paid and sadly had no room for dessert, will definitely come again if in the area.

We we’re visiting the area in our caravan and we’re lucky enough to be 1/2 mile away from this gem of a pub so we could walk to it we had a few pints of doom bar which was gorgeous then we both had a rump steak which I must say was the best I’ve ever had in a pub it was stunning ! from a local butcher I believe we had a really warm welcome and our 2 little dogs were more than welcome as well the only downside was we got descended on by a couple of families who couldn’t keep they’re offspring under control they were running up and down the pub shouting at the top of their voices with no one reigning them in so like another couple who had just come for a quiet drink we left but we won’t let that experience spoil it

6 of us arrived mid-day, had great pub food, which tasted home made, we where made to feel very welcome, whole experience was perfect, we are all 65 plus so we are hard to please, we have already booked again!!!!l

Have been a few time for a drink but tried Sunday lunch after a walk from lutterworth.well worth it -the food is very good & a good selection of beers & a good bottle of red .

Came here last night for dinner and it was lovely. Really good value at £60 with 2 starters, two mains, two drinks and a bottle of wine. Couple of niggles being the restaurant was very cold and the main of the smaller gammon was advertised with chips and salad garnish but it came crammed on a plate with peas only. Not enough to stop me going back though and must mention the barmaid who was bubbly and lovely!!

What a great little pub. Warm clean and very friendly staff. Deep fried camembert ok. Rib eye medium rare with onion rings, chips and stilton sauce. Perfectly cooked excellent steak, credit to chef. Have been before and will return. Relaxed and homely atmosphere.

Very nice food , excellent friendly service, nice interior decor made for a very pleasant evening. Photos are of a delicious rump steak, the unusual salt and pepper pots and the unusual milk jug! Well worth a look if you're in the Lutterworth area.

Booked a large table on Saturday night and it was brilliant the place has been refurbished to a very good standard you now sit in relaxed warm and welcoming surroundings the lighting is so much better now.

I ate here two nights on a business trip and I was very pleasantly surprised. I ordered a fillet steak (well, the company was paying- and in any case, it wasn't too expensive), and it really was one of the finest steaks I've ever had. Not just the steak- the chips and veggies were also lovely, and the starters and puddings I had. The second evening I had a chicken breast, and this too was fine.

Came here for lunch and absolutely loved it. The menu has a great choice, there's a few different sections in the pub to sit. Had a game of pool while we waited. The food we had was beautiful I couldn't fault it. The guy working was so friendly and made us feel so welcome. Shame we live so far away but we will come back.

Just had a lovely Sunday Lunch at the Black Horse at Walcot we had a nice welcome when we arrived we were asked if we would like drinks as we entered the bar and there was an open fire how lovely on a very windy day.

We stopped here because we was driving back from Blackpool and needed somewhere to heat our daughters milk not a lot of places are willing to but the guy that was working took the bottle and heated it up straight away for us which we was very grateful for

Had an amazing Sunday lunch excellent service and very friendly staff and a real welcoming atmosphere ,our roast was very tasty unlike some places we have been to where it has been bland. This wasn't at all. highly recommended.

This is one of those wonderful little places on stumbles upon. The building is a beuatifully restored heritage inn; very bright and clean. It has be modernised without losing it's charm, as the age of the building is still very apparent.

The food was very good. Leave your car at the car wash opposite and then relax over a leisurely meal. Service is friendly and the guest beers are excellent.

Ate at the Black Horse with hubby and friends early on a Saturday evening and couldn't believe how quiet it was. The locals are really missing a trick here - as the food was lovely - all 4 of us enjoyed our meals and the barman/waiter friendly and witty. We would certainly go again.

Apparently this pub was closed down several years ago, but was restored and reopened by the local villagers last November, as there was no other such facility in the area. They have done an excellent job, creating a clean, welcoming and homely environment, with a delicious menu and a good range of ales, and even Kopparberg fruit-flavoured cider on draft ! We ate there on Wednesday lunchtime, on the recommendation of friends, sampling several different dishes, including hunter's chicken and mixed grill/egg and chips, with some delicious creamy garlic mushrooms for starters. We didn't have room for desserts. Would certainly visit again; it's in a village, but close to the M1 and A5. Good luck to those involved in this initiative, which deserves to succeed !

Popped in without a reservation and were told that there would be a bit of a wait, but we were kept updated and it wasn't too long. I had a rump steak, which for only £10 was excellent, very tasty and cooked as I'd requested. Good selection of reasonably priced desserts with good portion sizes. I don't think cream poured onto a dessert served on a board, rather than a plate works very well though, especially where children are involved!

My partner had liver which was well cooked but sinewy. I had venison lasagne which was very average. Service was excellent but pub has very poor acoustics and is very echoey which detracts from ambience.

Excellent ciabattas and great real ale (4 available) for a quick lunch. Very helpful and welcoming landlord.

Great community pub with some excellent real ales and a very good value menu. We both had steak, and it wasn't just that the meat was perfect (which it was) but the accompaniments were fresh, crisp and elegantly presented. There is obviously a skilled person employed in the kitchen.

22 for dinner last night. Excellent atmosphere, service etc. 18 had steaks. Have to say getting steaks right at any time is an art but to get all meals out at the same time is exceptional and all cooked to perfection. Well done! Would highly recommend - food from local sources

A great country pub with good music, lovely staff and reasonable priced drinks. From what i saw of the food, it looks well presented and a good standard as well. I will definitely be in for some food in the future!

This is our first visit since the pub re-opened.The beers were well served, good temperature, from a good choice of real ales. The building is quite new, but retains the atmosphere of the previous pub with wooden floors and separate games area, and a restaurant area which can be closed off from the bar.

I visited here in February this year and could not fault the staff, service or food. Atmosphere was very laid back and accompanied by a lovely fire and comfortable seats what more could you need
