Recientemente nos mudamos a la zona como una familia, y este es nuestro nuevo local. Nos encanta el ambiente aquí. El personal suele ser fantástico, y ambas señoras gerentes son maravillosas. Lo único que lo estaba decepcionando era la comida. Fue acertado o fallado en cuanto a si era bueno o no, y a menudo nos han decepcionado con sus asados dominicales. Sin embargo, la razón por la que estoy escribiendo esta reseña es que vinimos este domingo, y el asado fue fantástico! No tenemos idea de lo que hiciste diferente, pero esperamos que sigas así! Siempre volveremos por las bebidas y el ambiente, pero tbh casi habíamos renunciado a comer aquí, y nuestra última experiencia definitivamente nos ha hecho darle otra oportunidad!

Comfortable pub with friendly staff (thanks, Lowry!) who were knowledgeable and willing to help with dietary requirements. Excellent choice of foods for different appetites and needs, well-prepared and tasty. Looking forward to visiting again.

We went for Sunday lunch It is a little basic, but does come hot. The toasties are small, I think they are deep fried. Value for the price.

I want to start by saying that I work in the hospitality and I never leave bad reviews but I haven’t had food this bad in a while. We went to try this place and defiantly won’t be back again. The “salt and pepper chilli chicken” had no chilli and no peppers, just some frozen chicken strips, some chips and a sauce briefly warmed up. I ordered something that was falsely advertised, I expect that when I read “peppers and chilli’s” I get those. The food took too long and the wait was not worthy at all. Also £4 for a pint of coke is extortion. The service was ok but nothing special. You have the same quality food with a cheaper price if you go and shop in Iceland and cook it yourself.

Lovely old village inn, serving excellent quality food at reasonable prices. Friendly, helpful waiting staff. We had the Katsu chicken which was delicious.

Tuve mi baby shower aquí, debo decir, la ubicación era perfecta. El personal era tan encantador, Rosie hizo un gran trabajo acomodando a todos mis amigos y familiares (incluso las personas sin gluten). También he estado en el concurso un par de veces en un domingo por la noche, Rosie hace un gran trabajo y atraer a la multitud y mantener el concurso relevante para la época del año. Por lo general, está lleno de diferentes equipos haciendo un ambiente ocupado para una noche de domingo. Es refrescante verlo ya que el Covid realmente ha cambiado el ambiente del pub. Recomendaría encarecidamente que la gente vaya y pruebe el nuevo menú y vaya al quiz si puede conseguir una mesa. : )

¡Nos encanta este pub! Siempre un ambiente encantador. El personal es siempre muy amable y acogedor. Hay un pub Greene king al otro lado de la carretera de donde vivimos, pero preferimos caminar 40 minutos a The Black Griffin. Siempre esperamos nuestro regreso.

The Griffin became our local when we moved to the area around 18 months ago and it’s quickly become one of the main reasons why we love the area so much. All of the staff are so friendly and welcoming, and we have had the pleasure of developing friendships with both staff and locals through our visits there. It’s a dog friendly pub which gives it such a cosy, warm, family vibe and has several large TVs that are often playing an array of sports. They offer a quiz on a Sunday which, although we don’t attend much, has an excellent reputation and is something we’ve greatly enjoyed when we have been able to attend. The management team (Emma and Rosie in particular) have always been very accommodating and friendly, often going above and beyond for their customers. I’ve hired the upstairs of the pub for my birthday for two years in a row now and it’s always been so easy, so fun, and always heavily complimented by friends and family.

The Black Griffin is a fantastic pub with a warm, cosy atmosphere and super friendly staff who make you feel right at home. They offer a great selection of beers and are a haven for sports fans, showing all the big football and rugby games. Plus, it’s dog-friendly, making it the perfect spot to relax with your furry friend. Whether you're there for the game or just a pint, it’s always a great experience. Highly recommended!

I have visited this place a few times for the lunch time deal of a chiabatta or wrap filled with steak and cheese with chips or fries etc and a drink for £8.49. good choice of fillings and plenty which is good value for £8.49 and with a choice of drinks included. I don't live locally otherwise I'd visit more often for a good meal in a lovely inn

The Black Griffin is my local, and it’s one of the best pubs I've been to. All the staff are great, with Rosie running an excellent Sunday quiz. The pub offers a great range of beers and ales, along with a few screens for the football and rugby. Dogs are allowed to roam around. The décor and lighting create a warm vibe. The only slight negative is the food – while it's decent overall, given the location in an affluent area like Lisvane and the prices, you can be forgiven for expecting a bit more.

Absolutely love this pub ! Always a lovely warm atmosphere. The staff are so friendly and always make time for conversation. We live near a few pubs but prefer to venture out to come here. The food is delicious! We both tried the festive burgers, which were so tasty and good value for money. Can't wait to return.

We had a large party on a busy Sunday and I was very impressed. We had Sunday dinners and they were fabulous. Lovely tender meat and fresh veg. Our large party was very loud and consisted of every age group. All were happy and satisfied. The staff were friendly and very patient. Well done guys !!

A fabulous local! Great selection of beers, and super friendly staff, I visit every Sunday after walking my dog and Dayna the chef brings him a lovely treat just to make him feel welcome(he is usually a bit anxious but not when Dayna is on duty!) The Sunday quiz is also great fun and the atmosphere is buzzing. The food looks amazing but I haven't eaten here in a while-last time it was well above your average pub fodder!

We come on a Sunday for the quiz which is always good fun. The staff are genuinely lovely, the service is great and the food is very reasonably priced.

I had a buffet spread by the Griffin, was fantastic! There was so much more than expected ! I took some home ! .. and others did as well ! Rosie the assistant manager , she organised this all for us , she is amazing , attentive and lovely . Will be back , due to her service !

I've given 3 stars as we had good service but the food was disappointing. I'm really sorry to have to say that but hopefully when the owner/manager reads this, he will take on board my criticism. We ordered the Sunday roast beef lunch which was served approximately 3 minutes after we ordered which obviously meant it was already plated and heated up. It was a huge portion of potatoes and veg and a few slices of beef. The veg I am sorry to say was very mushy and the beef tough and difficult to cut up as the knives were not sharp. Such a shame. We have been before and eaten from the main menu and had good food so did expect the same

Had a friends baby shower. There was no gluten free items on the buffet and when I asked about that, they were kind enough to make me a sandwich with GFbread the rest of the food looked amazing. We even had “doggy boxes” to take some home

Friendly atmosphere, nice clean surroundings and friendly staff. Drinks were expensive, £12.70 for two pints, one of which was a pint of Guinness, which was very disappointing (Based on 100+ personal taste tests in pubs across the UK and Ireland). Food was standard pub food and the service was quick. Chicken Katsu Curry was very nice in fairness. However, I pointed out to the waiter that a portion of 8 chips with the meal was ridiculous and whilst he said that he agreed with me and said that was indeed very bad, he did nothing about it. In fact, he said, “ Well how many chips would you have liked then?” He didn’t expect my answer of about 12 chips, which again he agreed with me would have been a fair size portion for the meal. At the very least he could have brought me a few more chips to appease me, which would have been no more than an extra potato for them. Overall a mixed review with some positive points and some not so positive.

Lovely meal mid week lunchtime. Staff very attentive and helped us celebrate my elderly dogs birthday. Prices are more than reasonable . Our server, Tal, was absolutely wonderful. Such a friendly, happy person and mate our visit even more pleasant! We will certainly be back over the summer.

The feel and atmosphere of a traditional pub but with everything you expect in the modern world, extensive menu, huge range of drinks, dog friendly, TNT and sky sports, Wi-Fi, car park, attentive friendly staff, out door seating, dart board, clean toilets and more. Wish I lived nearer.

The Black Griffon delivered exactly what we were looking for – a typical pub Sunday roast at a fair price. The welcome and the service was excellent. As soon as the greeter saw my elderly and somewhat disabled companion, she asked if the stairs would be an issue and changed us to a downstairs table. All the servers were polite, friendly, helpful and smiled a lot. It makes a difference. We both had the “duo” of roast turkey and beef, which took a reasonable 15 minutes or so to arrive. I was pleased to see that each meal had correctly omitted the item each person didn’t want – it’s amazing how often venues make a note but still serve something which you have said you can’t eat. The vegetables were very good, particularly the roasties. The cauli cheese could have been flashed under the grill, and a little cheesier, and the ‘beef served pink’ was actually well-cooked and not pink, but the portions were generous and everything was tasty. It’s great that you can order just the one course, some pubs insist on paying for two Sunday lunch courses when, for us oldies, a Sunday roast is all we can manage at one sitting! The stainless steel gravy pots dribble and are unattractive – a gravy pot or jug would be better (as pictured on the menu). Atmosphere is typical ‘old pub’. I had a Guinness Zero (there was a good range of alcoholic and non-alco drinks) and the bill came to just over £30 – good value, and I expect we’ll return.

Took my 17 year old for lunch, and we both enjoyed it very much. The food was lovely, and the staff were lovely. I would definitely recommend this place 👌

Good beer and friendly service. My other half and his daughter ate and had the small plates. They recommended the salt and pepper squid. Good little outside smoking area. Lots of seating inside. Dart board. 2 lots of toilets. Wheelchair friendly areas.

Always a great time at The Black Griffin Inn. The food is great and the staff are always so friendly (in particular Rose, Ethan and Tal).

There's a small 'snug' area just to the left of the bar with 3 tables in it. Why not turn off the TV as default and only put it on for big games e.g. wales rugby or soccer. Most of the time there is just some minority sport on that no ones watching anyway. Great pub with good food and beer, but is there any chance you could create one small area of the pub without a TV. There are TV's on every wall and you just can't get away from the soccer/motor racing /snooker or whatever sport is on at the time. It would be great to have a small area where the non-sports fans could sit and talk.

Had a wonderful Saturday Festive fayre meal with my mother. The food was lovely and atmosphere great. Nice and quiet and staff very polite. Highly recommended. Thanks Al

Food is okay, same as any other Greene King pub, pub looks lovely, atmosphere is good. However, the service is not the best. The lady who seated us told us it was table service and we would not have to go to the bar to order. Waited about 15 minutes to be seen too, for a drinks order. No one came to us, but the lady walked past many times and seated other people near us. Eventually I went to the bar to get drinks. Waited another 15 minutes for a food order, the lady was taking food orders from tables who came in after us, walked past many times and never took our order. I eventually also ordered food at the bar. Food came super fast and was decent. No check backs done, no offers for more drinks. I don’t mind ordering at the bar but it’s a bit annoying having to wait around after being told she will come and take the order.

Absolutely wonderful venue, in a delightful setting. Would highly recommend. Value for money, prompt and friendly service, with superb food.

Our waitress was absolutely amazing remembered all our meals and there were 8 of us and remembered all our drinks too . We all enjoyed our meals too . 2nd visit that was , we will deff be back .

A traditional pub with plenty of character. My wife and I opted for the Sunday roast and were certainly not disappointed. Very reasonably priced, great size portion and totally delicious. Treated ourselves to pud afterwards, I had the crumble and Cath had the Eaton mess. Both plates were cleared....lovely way to finish our dining experience off. If we are up from Liverpool again we will certainly revisit. Thank you Black Griffin.

Went for Sunday lunch with friends. It’s was busy but the food came quicker than expected and was tasty. Average portion size, sides of extra veg were smaller than hoped for though. Nothing bad, we were just hungrier than the portions

Food was absolutely delicious, the time it took to come out was relatively quick and the service impeccable. I really enjoy coming here due to the relaxed environment, the friendly people and the pet welcoming culture. There is plenty of outdoor seating, equal to the amount of indoor seating available. There are designated smoking areas outside too. You can pay with cash and card here and there is wheelchair accessibility as well. There is an ample car parking area which can hold many cars. I wouldn't say there is an abundance of choice on the menu but what is there is real quality. The price is more than reasonable for the quality and the price range is what you would expect to pay for a pub meal. Next to the Inn there is a lovely little local authentic shop that serves most things. The scenery is lovely and the area extremely quiet. It's perfect for a stroll to go and get some lunch, for a family meal, to meet friends or to have a romantic dinner or a casual evening meal. We will definitely be back, as it is very unique and I adored its welcoming and friendly feel. Why don't you check it out for yourself, you will not be sorry.

Great pub in a lovely village. We went for dinner and had the turkey roast. Great food. Roasties, in particular, were brilliant and the turkey very tender. We then stayed on for the evening quiz, hosted by the lovely Rosie who, despite having a very full pub of rugby fans, did a marvellous job. Well done everyone.

It wasn't what I expected for a pub in Lisvane. I think I thought the food would be on par with the old cottage. The staff were very pleasant and friendly and the drinks had a good variety of choices.
