Called in for a couple of Sunday drinks. Prices were good and as cheap as weatherspoons. Warm pub (which isn’t that common nowadays) and fairly busy with locals. Has different areas but all was friendly. Fairly clean. Would return

Whilst visiting my sister we visited her local. This is a lovely little pub. Drinks only. The staff are real good at their job. The pub can get quite busy but they know their locals and look after them as well as multi task a busy bar. The 3 staff that were working are really nice and look after everyone. The drinks are cheap too. Cost me £10.95 for 3 pints and 3 bags of crisps.

Good priced drinks however the land lord is unreasonable, miserable and snappy to customers. The other staff are unprofessional and shows no loyalty to regular customers, I am not interested in visiting the pub again.

came to the pub and was spoken to like a piece of dirt from staff members, they were rude service was slow and app was not working - owner then continued to insult me ‘slag’ which is not appropriate for a business owner who relies on customers money at all, will not be returning back and we should let in dexters back in with nice friendly staff!!!!

I use the Black House most times I go out in Brigg - It has a great atmosphere and the prices are very competitive. This place will be very busy with the up and coming European Football Championships this Summer - There are three TVs inside and a big one in the Beer Garden which is great to sit in during warm weather. The TVs have sport on most of the time, also live music.

The website boasts an extensive menu but they no longer serve any!! We had picked it in order to meet a friend and Brigg was mid way. There is a TV in the bar covering the cricket (which had finished) and another blaring in the beer garden. The landlord ignored us, the place seemed to be for a few locals only. Plenty of other places, so avoid this one.

Having heard from friends about the Black Bull, my companion and I stopped there on our way back to Spalding. Conveniently situated on the right hand side of the road as we headed out of Kirton, the pub/restaurant is very welcoming and friendly. Poor selection of low calorie soft drinks, otherwise the menu was very good and we enjoyed our lunch very much. The portion sizes were just right and they were happy to provide a more bespoke request for my lunch! Large TV screens in the bar for watching Sport and more comfy seating in the lounge. Worth a visit.

22 FEB 2019 early evening £9.85 for a pint of John Smiths and a double gin and tonic. A rip off. You get a tiny bottle of oh so up market rubbish Fever Tree tonic. Wetherspoons = £5.74. Where should I go I wonder? The Guinness is off so off she goes- no bar staff. The Smiths goes - off she goes - no bar staff. Can't have ice with the gin as its in the cellar. The bar drunk is doing his Noel Gallagher act and is glaring at people. The sooner pubs like this close for good then the better. A disgrace to the industry . What one might call a rough and unruly hostelry. Might as well stop at home and have a drink rather than put up with this .

I know it’s been about 6 months, but I truly hoped they would reconsider and start serving food again. This place was our, and many other locals, favourite place to eat in Brigg for a while. Walkable, and great ‘gastropub’ food. We visited countless times, even spent New Years Eve there. We were amazed, but very happy, that the Black Bull had become our ‘local’. But no more, trying to be a ‘Sports Bar’ and alienating a vast proportion of the locals doesn’t sound like sensible business advice to us.

We visited the area at the weekend, called in for late lunch. We went into the beer garden which was lovely and had three she'd like buildings which were fitted out lovely in a booth style, however the first one was locked, the second was full of dirty dishes, glasses and table , on to the second which was the same. Took them ages to clean the booth then we had to go back in to ask for the table to be cleaned.

My dad & I thought we would try the Black Bull for lunch. It's certainly changed since I was last there, some 25+ years. Looked really tidy. Loved the outdoor area but a bit chilly for us today. Inside it was clean and comfortable. Thought the menu was a bit limited, expected more 'proper' pub food. Dad had fish & chips. He is a bit of an expert within dish. He did enjoy it, large fish, decent batter but said the fish was slightly over cooked. I had the vegetarian pie. I am not a vegetarian but just fancied it. Came with mash & mushy peas. It was a bit too dry for me, tasty but a drop of gravy would have helped.

Myself and my partner decided to go and have a pub lunch there today, bit pricey but we'd heard the food is really good. Found a table and ordered our food (one burger and one chicken wrap) waited and waited and waited, half hour later a couple who came in after us received their food, so we asked where ours was and were told 3 to 4 minutes...we waited...20 mins later another 2 tables (who came in AFTER us) got their food...so we asked for our money back, weren't given an explanation as to what had gone wrong just that the waitress didn't know what was happening in the kitchen today!! Ended up in Greggs!!!!!

Having visited Dexter's before it closed we decided to see what the Pub now has to offer - Oh dear what a mistake. We had to wait nearly 2 hours for our food - one chef not arrived for work and I think the one who did was not a chef! The staff blamed equipment failure for the delay. The menu has emphasis on burgers and the choice of 'proper meals' limited. In despair I ordered a steak - very expensive, I asked for medium and when it came it was well done and just put on a smallish plate with chips (I asked for thin chips with skin on) on the top - I asked for a salad it came with onion rings and very large tomato - I sent it back and it came with salad added to the top. There were 7 of us and the fish and chips looked OK, it was large but with beer batter was very heavy and so only the fish was eaten. The others resorted to cold ham well cooked eggs and chips or Scampi and Chips. The bill including drinks was in excess of £100. We will not be returning. What a shame as it is a nice traditional pub with Huts for up to 6/7 in the outside which we enjoyed as Dexter's when there is a group .

Have recently moved back to Brigg and were really looking forward to trying the Black Bull in its present form for the first time. Started well. Met at the door and shown straight to our seats, drinks orders taken and quickly served. Menu is very limited but order taken promptly by friendly waitress. One of our group was veggie and a bit fussy but she was helped appropriately and with patience. But then it all went downhill. Food took quite a while to arrive but place was very busy so maybe to be expected. When it did arrive we were all a bit underwhelmed. Food all a bit bland. Pretty tasteless really. The bill seemed a bit expensive given the quality of the food. Gents toilets not the cleanest and urinals seemed to be partially blocked as they were backing up a bit. Came away feeling a bit disappointed and as it says in the heading this was oh so average!

Having eaten at Dexter's shortly before it closed and was reincarnated as the Black Bull, four of us were looking forward to a good meal. Unfortunately we didn't get one. The menu was quite limited and the tomato and basil soup chosen by two of us bore a very strong resemblance to a famous tinned variety with the addition of a few halved cherry tomatoes. The basil was absent. One of our party ordered a pie and when it arrived we suggested he tuck in to avoid it getting cold. He had finished his meal and put his plate to one side before the waitress noticed no one else had been served. The pie was just ok. We think there must have been some confusion with orders and suspect it was meant for another table. The waitress was apologetic and offered him some camembaert when our food arrived. The batter on my fish was very overcooked and the fish rather tasteless. Food for the rest of our party was very mediocre. When the bill arrived we had been charged for 5 beers instead of 3. On the plus side my small bottle of mineral water was lovely, but at £3.70 it should have been!We shan't be returning which is a shame as it's a lovely place with nice decor. My teenage son ordered the mixed grill, he took a bite out of the lamb chop, spat it out saying it tasted awful. My husband tried it to see what was wrong and he too confirmed it had a really bad taste. The taste was so bad , it lingered with my son, he started to feel sick and he couldn't eat his meal. We think the Lamb was off. My husband brought this to the attention of the Chef and the price of the meal was refunded. It spoilt the night as we had gone for a family meal, which when feeding two teenagers due to the price doesn't happen often. My husband had a steak , the size wasn't very big considering what we paid. Myself and my other son had steak pie, it came with veg, apart from the dried out tasteless carrots and salty gravy it was edible. Won't be going back again

We are new to the area and trying different places. This pub had a friendly welcome from the barmaid who explained everything to us newbies and opened a tab. They had a couple of real ales on so that was a good start - I was given a couple of tasters and chose some 'Sticky Wicket'. We went upstairs to sit away from the bar area and order our food. The decor was very dated with signs of Christmas decorations still in place in August. Several light bulbs were not working.I had a starter of mushrooms stuffed with stilton and we had mains of mixed grill and 'surf and turf'. I wasn't asked how I wanted my steak done when I ordered, but the waiter came and checked later. The starter was very tasty. The mains plates were huge. The food itself was cooked well and the steak was how I wanted it.We reordered drinks and the bill came to £43 in total for the two of us. This wasn't bad value for money and it was good grilled pub food. What it said on the tin, but not really our usual choice.

We have dined numerous times at this traditional olde worlde english pub. Good value menu wide selection. The fixed price menu two for £8 virtually every day is extremely good value. A lovely tender beef steak short pastry pie served with potatoes or chips and plenty of veg. A party guest ordered and fully enjoyed the gammon egg and chips. Months later still recalls they thoroughly enjoyed it , speaks volumes. A slight criticism would be that the Mexican wrap can be very hot and not for everyone's taste buds. It may be a good idea to enquire if mild or hot is preferred with this dish. One guess loved the heat and another not so. Nice cozy atmosphere frequented by friendly locals. Lovely warm fireplace in the winter, beer garden for the warmer days. Drinks are reasonable normal prices. Recommended.

The table mats were dirty and very shabby I wouldn't have put my dogs dinner on them. I asked for some more and they replaced with equally dirty ones which we asked them to clean for us. He did this with a dirty cold dish cloth. When the food arrived it which was the Sunday roast it was thin tasteless meat with overcooked vegetables and dried up roast potatoes and a yorkshire pudding that needed a saw to cut it.Will never visit again, I had to keep apologizing to my for taking them there.

We have visited this pub on many occasions - regulars you might put, however on this occasion we walked in, and all already present just looked at us as if we shouldn't be there - no music, complete silence - and yes it was a Friday night at 10pm. It turned out it was a 40th birthday party, however the clientele of the 40th Birthday Party forgot that it was also open to the public - hence being a 'public bar' - Doh!!! hence we walked in just to get a drink from the bar. We sat down at a empty table, we were looked at, then a woman decided to point at us, stating we should not be sat where were at - hence I put her on the spot and said "sorry Love, are were imposing, have you booked the room and the pub" - to which her reply was "no' - thus I said, is it ok to sit here then - silence again in the room - very uncomfortable - hence we walked out after one drink. So 'Black Bull' - although your obviously organise party's, you must also not forget your other regular customers - if you dont, you will lose your regular customers. Divide sections for parties and regular customers.

We visited with friends. 3 wanted the meat pie. I plumped for the beef and Stilton panini. After ordering at the bar we were told that there were only 2 portions of pie left. A friend said she'd choose something else but after returning from the kitchen, the barmaid gave us a very dodgy story that all of a sudden there were 3 portions - the last 3. We didn't believe her and expected the 2 portions to have been cut into 3 to go round. We don't think we were wrong. The pie was lovely but the portions were absolutely tiny. I don't think it would have filled up a 5 year old! What's more, the vegetables were tepid at best, except for the broccoli which was cold. The food was swimming in water where the vegetables hadn't been drained properly. My panini arrived and looked far from appetising. A limp and damp panini and the thinnest strips of beef contained inside which looked like leather. The toughness was only lessened due to the meat being sliced so thinly. My friend made a complaint to the barmaid when she came to collect the plates. It was met with a very insincere and uncaring "Oh Sorry" and the plates just whisked away. She looked liked she couldn't get away fast enough. Needless to say we weren't even re-visited at the table to enquire if we wanted a sweet. Not that we would have had one bearing in mind the quality of the mains. Probably the worst pub meal I've had in a long while. Suffice to say we shan't be returning again.

We regularly go to this pub for a drink and quite often to eat. The food there is proper 'pub grub' which I could not recommend highly enough, the chicken curry is a favourite of mine and the ham, eggs and chips a favourite of my husbands. There are always guest beers available to try and the usual selection of beers, lagers, ciders, wines and soft drinks. We have attended this evening an 'American night'. This was priced at £15 per person which was extremely good value for money, choice of ribs, chicken wings or homemade pumpkin soup for starters, Jambalaya, Steak & Eggs or Stacked Philly burger for mains and Key Lime Pie, New York cheesecake or Pecan Pie for dessert. A glass of wine or bottle of beer was included as was tea/coffee all finished with a Bourbon to wash it down. The service and staff were very attentive even down to the Landladys impression of a crazy American diner owner. I would thoroughly recommend the Black Bull as a place to eat or drink and will be back there very soon.

Brigg is still waiting for a non Indian/Chinese restaurante that offers a quality and relaible dining experience after 7.00pm, and can stay in business long-term.Currently the choice seems limited to a good value but bargain basement fayre in Hardy's in a very much (tired) pub based environment, and the ever-trying but patchy at best, White Horse. So the Grill@the Bull (upstairs in the Black Bull pub), has little competition. The food is good and wholesome, though presented in a way that keeps it in synch with the very dated 80's deco and ambience. It's ok for a meal with close friends or family, but not 'special' enough to risk taking anyone your need to impress (unless they're Americans looking for an authentic 1980 British Pub Grub dining experience!) It's a shame because much of the food is really good.

The food is always fresh and hot. The environment is so covid safe which is so important for me.

If you have any self respect, you would not eat here. It’s a dive. Don’t get me started on how dirty the staff look either. One with a pair of blue jeans on like she’d just rolled in from school. This place used to be good when Christopher Mayne was the manager but has since evidently gone downhill. The new manager looks totally uninterested and like he is wasting his time by being there. When he served us, it felt like he was doing us a favour by pouring a pint. My husband also agreed on his rude attitude. We have also heard bad things about a particular chef who works in the kitchen??? Need I say anymore about the kind of people they are employing here.

Visited for breakfast and had the 'Large Breakfast', which was okay. The venue is large, popular, but quite dark. The service was decent enough, but some of the tables and menus could do with a wipe down due to being rather sticky. The beans also lacked any taste.
