I cannot fault anything about this place all the staff are so welcoming and one member of staff went out of their way to be polite and even called us by our names she was called Courtney and definitely an asset to the restaurant. The food is always fresh and hot. The environment is so covid safe which is so important for me.

We booked a room for the night, not knowing it is also used as a hostel for the homeless who where all congregating in the corridor outside our room. Staff admitted they don’t tell people this as no one would book. We attempted to get a shower in the room but it was broken and had very low pressure. The bath is very small an adult would struggle to get in it and be comfortable. At no point while here did we feel safe leaving our car in the car park. The restaurant smelled mouldy and needed a really good clean and redecorate. We decided not to stay the night and booked somewhere else. We were refunded half the cost of the room. So it cost us £40 for a shower that didn’t even work properly. We will never return even just for drinks and will be advising family and friends to stay away. Such a shame as this could be a really nice place if someone cared about it.

First visit in a while! Glad we did excellent food, great taste with quality ingredients.Great welcome with very attentive staff, couldn't believe it wasn't busier. Great menu with plenty of choice ( can recommend the mushroom starter and the chicken carbonara and hunters chicken main ) Superb social distancing measures and staff in full PPE if you've not been in a while give it a try it deserves to do well.

Dined here tonight 11th August. 7 of us. We all ordered separately. I ordered the mixed grill without liver and kidney even to be told it doesn’t even come with it and my partner ordered the steak & Guinness pie. We was second to order out the 3 separate parties. The first party received there meals all fine. The third party received there meals all fine. The not so customer service orientated waitress finally realised we was still waiting on our meals and said it would be a couple of minutes. 20 mins later after everyone had finished ours arrived WITH the liver & kidney. I found that out when I put a piece in my mouth. I nearly vomited at the table. There was no check to make sure our meals were ok. Mine certainly wasn’t. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to eat here, avoid at all costs. Much better places to eat around the area.

Booked Arties Mill and was so pleased we did,two of us had carvery which was excellent, so much choice and so well cooked.The rest chose from the menu and everyone was so pleased with their food. Everything was really good and amazing prices. We will definitely be eating there again!

could not fault it in any way the staff very polite nothing was to much trouble , the food served very quick as there was 27 in our party all served virtually together no one was left waiting it was hot and very well presented we have booked again for our 2021 dinner

We have been comming to arties milll for years ! With a very special person. It’s so cosy and warm. The staff are normally great and tens to be so friendly. And I’ll say one thing and one thing only BEEF CURRY wow! That chef is magic. everytime I get this it just is so good. Please show some respect for this family run business. As it’s not just any old chain pub. It’s special !

Food was very poor. Chips, onion ring and chicken nuggets all tasted like fish... our 3 yr old daughter has a fish allergy so was immediately running to the toilet. The sausage tasted like vinegar so was probably out of date. The liver and gammon was well over cooked/ rock hard. We reported this to the chef (not for the purpose of a refund) and he just dismissed all our comments basically calling us liars... will not be returning!

The Sunday carvery is fantastic Good choice of meat and vegetables would highly recommend Staff are really friendly too.

Shocking. Mould on my Daughter's strawberry sponge pudding. Went and told the waitress, who replace with a new one. Daughter left it . No refund offered . Will not be returning

Attended with family for a birthday party, mixture of bar meals and carvery. Bar meals were a good standard and members of the party who had carvery said it was excellent. Bar service slow but very polite staff. An enjoyable evening.

Booked at short notice for christmas day dinner. The staff upon arrival showed us our table and took our drinks order. The food was well presented and plenty of it. We had prawn cocktail and soup for starter. Turkey and beef for our main and cheese and crackers for pudding, along with tea coffee and shortbread biscuits. The food was hot and lovely. The pigs in blankets were proper sausages as well. Plenty of gravy to go around. The table was decorated and nice chair covers for that extra touch. Will definitely return and maybe book for next christmas. There wasnt many booked in for the first sitting and you are not rushed for the next sitting as they are in a different room

Jesus the food here is so bad!! I don't know how on earth this place has a carvery going every Sunday. The meat is fatty and overcooked, gravy like water, the veg is always watery and not much to choose from, peas and watery cabbage.. Yum! Yorkies have a strange burnt taste. And why oh why do these carvery places insist on serving those god awful frozen roasties. Arties if you're gonna take anything from this, stop buying them horrible frozen spuds, take some time peeling your own taties and give the next poor diners at least one tasty thing on their plate.Gross.. After having been back for the third time after previous disappointment, this time we will definitely not be returning!Oh and carvery chef, crack a smile will you. I don't know which was worse to look at, my sorry looking plate of food or your miserable face.

Myself and my family of 6 adults nipped up on Saturday evening for dinner, we have been quite a bit recently and enjoyed the food. The blonde lady that usually serves is great, helpful and friendly! This evening was different. 7:30 pm on a Saturday night and there were only 3 tables in. We helped ourselves to menus and seated ourselves. One of the party went to order drinks. He didn’t mention at the time but it turns out the barmaid was quite abrupt with him(brunette young girl). I myself went up to ask about ingredients due to having dietary requirements. She was aggressive when I asked if there was dairy in something and very rude abrupt in answering my very (simple) and polite question. My mother went up to order our 6 meals and she was incredibly rude to her too. Questioning her and being very rude. We sat down and this is when all 3 of the people that had met the barmaid all mentioned how rude and aggressive she had been! At this point the bar maid came overly very rudely telling us that we had only ordered 5 meals. When it was mentioned she was being quite rude she continued to mention the food orders and was complacent when we tried to resolve the orders... at this point she again continued to make rude comments to us and so we cancelled the food, paid for the drinks and went elsewhere to eat. This young girl clearly has no people skills, no desire to work with the public and no business working there. What a shame. As a family we like to visit as we know they are quiet and struggling for custom in the week. We have tried to support a local independent business and have been recommending it to others! Unfortunately we will not return as I can see why a lot of others don’t go anymore!

Arrived for a sunday carvery to be greeted by unhappy staff and was surprised the place was almost empty.( i can understand why) Qued up and waited for the chef to come out to serve us and when he did he coudnt even be botherd to speak or even smile. My husband asked for both meats from the carvery to be given a loud si as if it was an inconvenience. Food was cold and tastless not nice at all that i coudnt eat mine. 2 waitresses clearing tables chewing gum with mouths open who dont even bother to ask if everything was ok. Service not great! food not great! If you want to go out for a nice sunday lunch then this place is not for you!. It was my first visit and deffo my last.

Stopped for lunch on a dull, damp, cold day in February and received the warmest of welcomes from delightful staff. Hot food and coffee were served promptly and were thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The title says it all. Having gone there regularly until three years ago we began going elsewhere when it lost its sparkle and appeal. Six months ago we returned and so has its excellence, and clearly so has its reputation. Four of us went today for the carvery and we were pleased we had booked as there was a large party ahead of us, and as we left more arrived. We only manage to eat a main course and the roast beef, pork and turkey were of the finest quality and cooked and served to perfection. There is always a good selection of vegetables and excellent roast potatoes. Proper roasties have been difficult / impossible to find elsewhere in the last three years. The staff are always very polite and efficient and although they are few they work very hard and nothing is too much trouble. Thank you , you deserve this post.

We booked to have a family meal for my husbands 30th birthday. We was recommended to go there. There was 24 people within the group we had preordered our meals. We had paid £50 for the conservatory.

We go to Arties quite often and have put reviews on before. Had another excellent meal tonight with very good service. It was good to see the place busy. Good menu with plenty of choice at reasonable prices.

Food very tasty and filling, service good, a bit quiet and a little dark, but overall good. Lovely outdoors area with animals, we spent quite a long time out there after lunch feeding the pigs, loved it.

Great no frills hotel, fantastic staff who even made my dogs welcome, good food and brilliant breakfast, will definitely be returning

Dropped in here on a Sunday around 5:30pm after being out for the day, food was piping hot, tasty and really enjoyable. Will definitely be taking a trip back to try more items from the menu. Thanks

Had a lovely meal here for my sons birthday today. All meals cooked freshly and delicious as always. Got a free meal for my son as a bonus. Would definitely recommend.

We decided to visit here recently for an evening meal. They do seem to cater for all ages, there was three generations in our party. The oldies had the fish n chip special, the kids had a good choice on the children's menu, then there was one dish from the main menu and one dish from the specials. All very nice and very reasonable price

Four of us went for a meal here on a Sunday, the place was almost empty so guaranteed a seat. One of us had battered chicken with chips, the chicken was overdone and very dry, the chips tasted as though they had been cooked and then re heated, I had Cajun chicken and as soon as she brought it out it smelt off, it didn’t smell of spices it smelt bad. I tried it but couldn’t eat it as the smell of it put me off. We each had a desert, the cheesecake was mousse not really cheesecake at all, the apple crumble was undercooked, stodgy and inedible, the banoffee pie had no biscuit base, too much cream and the bananas, what few bits there were, were black and the sherry trifle didn’t actually have sherry in it, the sherry was in the cream. We would not recommend the place and we will not be returning

We arrived Sunday around 4pm, the waitress asked us if we wanted the round room because of the 2 wheelchairs. The tables near the carvery was tight to get around. The staff were all so helpfull. They moved chairs out the way and offered my son to carry his plate and push his wheelchair. I ordered the steak and ale pie which was amazing and the 2 men had the carvery. All the food was amazing, hot food, presentable and so tastey. We are tempted to go again the Sunday for our roast dinner. It had gone off quite a bit but new chef who was clean, friendly and wanted to make sure you was happy with everything. I am wondering if it's changed owners if not they have upt their game by getting rid of the staff. The chef they had was filthy and was not interested. I would highly recommend the food and friendly staff especially the chef and the lady. They made up feel wanted and nothing was any trouble. They are also doing a proper menu, last time it was a tatty piece of dirty paper for the menu.

Classic room, large bathroom and lovely breakfast. Would definitely return and recommend to anyone saying for a short trip!

we have had several meals at the mill and it is a refreshing change for a pub to sell lovely home cooked food good sized portions with really friendly staff most pub food these days are microwave meals from large chain pubs at high prises I cannot fault Arties mill in any way the staff seem to care about the place and what they are serving 10 out of 10 and I will keep returning .

Went in for lunch as thety advertise fish and chip deal ordered 2 fish and chips and chicken nuggets , all the food came out extreemly dark and very well done , looked liked they had all been fried in the same pan. All the food must have been cooked fron frozen very very poor and over cooked. Never again,

Yesterday I went with a family of 20 ordered our meal me and my pregnant fiancé ordered the same chicken sandwich we ate some of the chips my fiancé took a bite out of her chicken sandwich to find the bun soggy and the chicken didn’t taste right so I tried mine and that too was also awful sent them back out put us both off didn’t want another main was asked if we wanted “FREE” puddings when I left I asked the very abrupt lady behind the bar what’s happing about the £18 I just spent on two meals that we sent back the reply was I gave you two free puddings I got £7 worth of “FREE” puddings yet was not reimburse the £18 I spent on shoddy foul food definitely will not be going back shocking to top it all off one of the little boys with the party trapped his finger in the toilet door resulting in broken bone and finger nail split in half and a popped finger mentioned it to the same lady the reply was “oh poor boy” the blood all over was only half cleaned up stay clear of this place

We arrived for a Mother's Day carvery, which the sign on the door said was the only food available. We ordered drinks and were directed to the table in the room with the carvery. We sat down and waited, and waited, and waited, and eventually I got up and asked a member of staff how it worked as we had never eaten there before. She told us that we had to order it at the bar, which the first member of staff had not told us. If carvery was the only food and if she directed us to our table why she didn't tell us how it worked I do not know. I queued again and ordered and we got our ticket for 4 carveries. The queue for food was a bit slower than other carvery queues I've been in, they need a more efficient set up for the meats. The staff there were pleasant when we chatted to them, and they had plenty of accompanying sauces which was nice (apple, cranberry and mint sauce). It was very warm in this part of the restaurant due to the food being in there. The meal was nice enough and stayed hot. There did not seem to be a veggie option, other than the vegetables themselves.

After reading the reports on this place I felt a bit apprehensive on booking our Xmas Dinner thier. Oh was we in for a shock, one of the best dinners we have been served excellent service food loverly and hot choice fantastic. Booking again for next year the price was well below the areas other choices and was worth every penny. Staff were professional in thier service and very helpful only downfall was I felt sorry they was working Christmas day. I hope the customers made it worth will in their tips.

We had an annual reunion here for 20 retired work colleages on Saturday night. On arrival we were served at the bar promptly by a very pleasant member of staff. The meal was a set meal for all of us and was served in a very timely manner by attentive staff. I received favourable comments from the others on how delicious the meal was, and on the manner and attitude of the staff.

We visited here earlier this afternoon, as it is New Year’s Day they were closing at 7pm. We were the only people in. My partner ordered beef dinner, it was very very bland the beef tasted like wet cardboard, it was also shiny with a green tinge (probably packet beef). I ordered a burger which was very pink in the middle and smushy, cheap bread bun and the chips were not fully cooked in the middle. Extremely disappointed, will not be returning and would advise others not to.

Had the carvery was so delicious. The desert was really good. really friendly staff great atmosphere. Will be going again.

We called in for something to eat and there was a christening going on, when we realised and asked if we could get something to eat, they were very pleasent and helpful.

When I arrived, could not find any one who was controlling the reception I had to go into the bar...

The Carvery was fantastic we all throughly enjoyed our meal. However on arrival to Artie's mill one of the bar ladies was very rude and disinterested in us. She made it pretty clear to be rude and proceeded to give us dirty looks - almost like we didn't belong there which made us feel extremely uncomfortable .

I visited arties mill on 21/08 for my daughters birthday and from the moment we walked in nothing was too much trouble! The staff were friendly and helpful even going as far as taking a family photo and bringing out a birthday cake with candles lit (which we brought in ourselves) the meal itself was lovely with all our meals arriving together (there was 6 of us) everything was hot and generous portions, highly recommend the beef curry! Special thanks to Keita who couldn't have been any better! So thankyou for making it an enjoyable time we will be back

No ha sido aquí un par de años como el lugar parecía ir cuesta abajo y conseguir algunas malas críticas. Debo decir que me sorprendió gratamente. Había una tabla de comidas especiales. Pero también hay dos por £10 ofrece en el menú teníamos huevos con jamón y patatas fritas. Nuestros amigos tenían patatas fritas torta de carne y guisantes. Ambos buenas porciones de tamaño. Limpia los platos en general. Bien vale la pena.

Tough meat, over cooked vegetables, stale Yorkshire Puds. Its pretty obvious on a weekday evening the roast dinners are pre-plated up and microwaved to order as it was burning hot. This of course twice cooks the veg. We had moved house so were really hungry or I would probably have sent it back. Drive a few miles to Broughton and eat at the Red Lion instead!

We've had our share of questionable experiences here over the years but six of us ate the other night and all the meals were great. Birthday girl even got hers for free (with photo ID). They had more beers than they used to, the staff were friendly and the locals were a laugh. Surprisingly good!

Very poor Service would never recommend this hotel first visit room was very cold had to ask to put the heating on then I paid for the room then got asked if id payed was no staff at the reception had to go to the bar to get someone , Second visit no one at reception again had to ask at the bar if someone could get me a broom for the night then paid for the room up from then we went to the room and Same again no heating on very dirty room with dead fly s squashed on the window broken both panel carpets not hoovered and dirty went to reception no one there are going to ask for attendance if I could have my money back and asked for the manager but he did not come to help us so I would highly recommend this accommodation

Home made burger was the best I've tasted! Homemade coleslaw..again the best! And as for the homemade chips...crispy and fluffy overall delicious meal. thanks

Having spent the morning in Brigg we decided to lunch st the above. A very varied menu of pub grub in this lovely mill. The food was very reasonable good portions and tasty. Inexpensive something for everyone's pocket

great place to eat ,outside has a collection of animals that will keep the kids amused for ages.Nice outdoor area , and some times they do events.

Had a few meals here, off the menu and sunday carvery. Food was nice enough but nothing special, kids enjoyed the animals outside and the bouncy castle

we booked Arties Mill for a my Mum,s Wedding July 16th 2016 from that day on Susanne and Ian could not do enough to make this the most perfect day, nothing was too much trouble they made the planning of the Ceremony the Reception and accomadation for the guests so easy, We cannot thank them enough the rooms were spotless the food was plentiful and tasty throughout the weekend the staff were attentive friendly and polite. From the bottom of our hearts thank you and well done to you and your team.

Came here after a Sunday trip with 8 people. Pub is dark and needs to be refurbished, doesn't look very nice or clean. Only one guy stuff, long time waiting. Good drinks. Cutlery fell down while serving, but we had to help ourselves. Food was very fatty but tasted ok. Pricey for what it was. Not what we expected from a well known pub in this area.

Wanted to try this place out before my friend and I - who were thinking of meeting up for a chat. My husband and I were over that way and we decided to have lunch. We were disappointed as my curry was just edible but lacked taste and balance of indian spices. The turkey was slightly tough and I suspect as a result of being reheated. My husbands pork was in a sauce but the chips were placed on top which he said made them soggy. The meal was pricey for what it was just that and two drinks. Not enjoyable or good value - will be going elsewhere with my friend. Sorry.

Just had daughters wedding at Arties Mill 4th June 2016 was amazing from beginning to end !!!Staff couldn't do enough to help they delivered on everything they said they would xx Wedding day was perfect food delicious service top quality simply brilliant thank you to everyone at Arties Mill we will treasure the memories you made happen xxxx

We called here after a day at Open Farm Sunday....well never again ordered drinks pint of bitter and 3 soft drinks 2 diet cokes which were flat!!!! We sat outside as weather was gorgeous food took 45 minutes to come to table....hunters chicken bland and dried up garden peas, 2 special bacon double cheeseburgers well should have complained there and then the bacon was horrendous more soggy under cooked than ever seen in my 43 years cheap burgers and a cheap floured bun with greasy chips and my daughter had fish and chips which had more floating fat than ever seen!!!!Couldn't wait to leave the place awful awful!!!Also place needs a total revamp and good cleaning!!!!

Warm, Friendly and Inviting. More than adequate choice on bar menu. Found the portions large. Meals came piping hot. Staff attentive and friendly. Will visit again.

Out of 4 meals ordered, one was the wrong order and the other two had coleslaw and salad served on a hot plate with the jacket potato. This would have been far better served in a bowl. My tuna melt was coated in black pepper, something I'd rather add to my meal myself. The cutlery only came out after the meals were served, no offer of condiments either. When we complained we were told the salad is only a garnish and that's how it comes! It definitely was a garnish, it took up half the plate! I'm not sure that they welcomed our feedback. Unfortunately the establishment is also well in need of refurbishment.

The food was lovely except for pepper on my gammon steak, as I have written previously I hate pepper. The waitress did apologise but it wasn't her fault. No complaints about the food at all. When my husband went to the bar to pay, he was kept waiting for quite a long time. The chap behind the bar said table 7, is 41. ( 41 what ) he meant £41. His shirt didn't look as if it had been ironed, working with food and with the public I think he could have made more of an effort.

I stopped here with my Mum on the way home from a shopping trip at around 5pm on a Saturday. It was very quiet but friendly all the same. We were greeted in a friendly way and ordered at the bar.The food arrived about 15-20 minutes later - obviously freshly cooked and piping hot. We both had fish and chips with mushy peas, bread and tea (their special at 2 meals for £10). What can I say??? The fish was lovely, just falling apart as you cut in, and the batter was great, not greasy at all. With nice chips, peas, bread and tea, we found this to be a great meal. My mum usually does not eat large meals but she pretty much polished this off completely - a surefire testament to how good it was. We were asked a couple of times by staff if everything was ok and they were all extremely friendly throughout. I would highly recommend the Fish and Chip special at Arties Mill!

3 star food hygiene rating should have put us off as anyone that cares about food should easily attain the top marks. However we had passed by this place many times and decided that we should give it a try for our lunch. Thought it was closed when we walked in then noticed some other diners in the corner. What a miserable depressing place. No staff and a terrible long wait for the fish and chips special. The food was cheap and was what you could expect for the price paid. Scruffy and past the date when the decorating should have been done. Will not be returning.

We came here on a Saturday lunch time for a family meal. We have been a few years ago but not recently. We were shocked to see the place empty! We sat in tge mill out of the way. The decor is so so tired looking and the highchairs were all dirty and tatty. The menu was printed on paper and dog eared. And very very overpriced. We ordered chilli chicken strips for us and the kids had spaghetti bolognaise. It was all very bland and overpriced. The chicken battered in a thick greasy batter. One member if staff on. And no money in the till for change! No other diners came in while we were there. We definitely wont be returning.

Saturday night , about 12 people in the restaurant. Waiter appeared to be some one who was just passing by and really didn't want to be there. Couldn't see him anywhere when l went to complain about my wifes battered haddock being under cooked. Mentioned it to the cook who , with a very aggressive look on his face , replied , "So what do you want me to do about it?" Won't be back

Staff are friendly but the food and service are both poor.... Don't bother, you'll be disappointed. They often get food and drinks orders wrong.

On our visit we had the Sunday cavary, not an experience to be repeated. There appeared to be not enough staff or poor organisation! When you arrived there was no information telling you how the cavary worked, and because the card machine wasn't working this was causing a delay at the bar. One person clearing the tables had jeans on, I presume she works there as initially I thought she was a member of the public helping the staff! The meat was tough, grisly and inedible. Good selection of vegetables. When our table was cleared the staff didn't ask if everything was alright with our meals, especially as the plates hadn't been cleared. We didn't enquire about dessert, as we didn't wish to waste our money further, and desserts weren't actively displayed on any notice boards.

the place was empty on arrival , table had not been wiped [salt was spilt over it] . I requested the special offer of fish chips ,peas bread and butter and hot drink , was told however that due to the other members of our party of 4 having special offers , I was unable to have this ,and would have to pay the full price for less . I was not happy , so reluctantly I was offered a hot drink . we are regular customers of arties , although it can be hit and miss . in view of this recent visit , I think another establishment will be on the agenda .

Been here loads of times for a Sunday carvery it's a bit hit and miss sometimes excellent and sometimes poorBar staff seem to get confused but once you finally get your ticket off you go to get your lunch plus points you can choose how many Yorkshire pudding you want and the same with roast potatoes meat is plentiful just the veg often let's it downWill call again as it's very local to us

The food was excellent plenty of choice and the staff were very friendly and polite. A great night out. Plenty of parking and easy to find. Would highly recommend the car very on a Sunday

first visit for us and we will be back soon, really enjoyed the food and fund it great value too. It is easy to find, the staff were very pleasant and our who experience of this place was a good one.

We were all starving and as we had no food in the house, we quickly drove to Arties Mill and bought a carvery, Schnitzel, sauce and chips and Chicken Carbonara. It was all delicious, and not very busy, no ques like I remembered from before. It came to just over £30 with drinks. Service was good. So, we will be calling in again when we can afford it. I think the Carvery was the best I`ve had in there.My husband thoroughly enjoyed the Schnitzel and home made sauce and chips.

We booked in for xmas lunch as a family treat, myself, partner and children. We arrived just before the 2pm sitting and disapointed not to be shown to a table had to find our own. We enjoyed the food the only real complaint was the soup starter was cold and had to be sent back and the desserts we ordered got mixed up but they put that right. We enjoyed our meal and was lovely not to have the washing up at home but just feel it lacked a bit of sparkle and atmosphere and the young waiting staff were a little flustered but all in all we enjoyed the day x

Really really gutted that I chose to join the rest of my family for our Christmas Dinner at Arties Mill. We have had some lovely carvery meals here before so I thought at least the food will be great?...Wrong...on arrival we had a very lacklustre reception from a member of staff, we managed to get ourselves seated and sorted by ourselves..nobody ever took a drinks order... The serving of our courses was completely hit and miss..there was a waitress trying to clear my girlfriends plate when she'd only eaten half, and the main course...my biggest disappointment... I swear the turkey was processed and not fresh carved turkey. Far too smooth and and folded into slices..bland.?Will not ever pay £80 for 2 people to have a very underwhelming meal ever again. This was meant to be a treat to give my girlfriend a year off from cooking the Christmas dinner.

My wife and I have been regulars at Arties Mill over the years just lately it has been going down hill on service this last time was the worst experience, waited at the bar with two people in front of me for 20 minutes only one bar staff serving two quite busy bars, finally got my order in waited 45 minutes no meals and could hear other customers complaining in that time noticed bar maid had become upset we assumed she was under unessersary pressure being on her own. When we complained about no meals they had not been ordered in the kitchen and they had no ham for my wife's meal, we got our money back and ate elsewhere we've had enough of this place never to return

Had a last minute meal for 10 people to arrange... everywhere I tried was fully booked, Tried Arties and they fitted us in straight away. They had a big wedding on in the other room but the restaurant was empty.Staff were friendly and helpful... the time it took the food to arrive was crazy.. so so long.. however we were in no rush as it was a get together and chat so on this occasion it was not a problem. When the food did arrive the quality and quantity of the food was excellent... worth waiting for. Price was reasonable too. Clearly if the restaurant was full I would be worried how long the food would take then and if the quality would suffer as a result. But as said Food was great. Keep working at it guys.

The place is not too bad... but the service! First, we ordered 2 pints of lager. The barmaid went to the bar across the other side to pour one of them. The other pint turned up (we didn't pay attention as we were busy talking) a bit too quickly, looking totally flat. When we asked for another one as it didn't look right, she would not replace it, saying that they sometimes come out like this. Later on, while taking our food order, she wouldn't stop picking and chewing food, making sure we could see the chewing process and the mouth contents properly... and trying to clarify the meal order details in between hiccups and burps... The other staff members were quite nice and friendly but please, could the manager consider somebody with better manners to serve meals and drinks? Never again! And if I get invited there for a party, I'll bring a pack up!

Hi my first impression was that the mill was fairly clean, went on a breakfast outing of 34 of us, the breakfast arrived!! Well I can only describe as diabolical to say the least. The bacon was swimming with oil the sausages wasn't cooked, a hair was found in the margarine, this has put me off I will not be returning in the near future it was awful. You can't blame the service it was the CHEF either needs to be SACKED or have training as this is not exceptional in any way. Member of Cleecons club cleethorpes

Beautiful building lovely and clean very friendly attentive staff food pleasant why is it now empty ? Does need a good tidy outside ashtrays over flowing hanging baskets all dead and would look much nicer emptied such a shame it isn't used sat night and only us there

Our first stay, will definitely stay again, lovely place, very pleasant staff made us very welcome, excellent breakfast. Great value for money.

I belong to the JEC Club, we meet every 3rd Monday at 730pm to bring our cars,listen to speakers etc. I come from the north bank and have never eaten there before as I just have tea at home and go across the Bridge for the meeting. But this time I thought I would bring a friend and have tea there. We got there at 615, ordered our meals and waited, and waited, it was 45 minutes,the table next to us complained as they had waited over an hour. The food was good when it DID come, but be prepared to wait. I won't be eating there again before the meeting, a real shame, it's not as though it has a lot of tables,and the Menu is very simple to make. But it's what you want to do. So be warned about the wait.

Firstly I'd like to thank all the staff at Arties we had our wedding there on the 5th sept Susanna and her team work tirelessly to make our day a special one.we had family coming up from Wolverhampton so stayed Friday and Saturday night there.the food was to die for and nothing was to much trouble for the staff at Arties they were smart,efficient,and really hard working very polite, would definitely recommend. me and my family will definitely be going and staying again

Was here saturday for a wedding and must say the rooms were very well looked after very clean and felt they put that little bit extra compared to other places i have stayed thank you

Used to be nice, would recommend eating your own toenails instead of going here nowadays. Rubbish service with dumb staff, watched our food go from table to table before he eventually clicked on it was our food. All staff seemed stressed and unhappy. Took one look at the carvery and decided to order from the menu, really wish we'd of just gone home to our local for dinner instead. Burgers were swimming in grease, I had a pie that tasted like warmed up dog food, the place looked run down and dirty and the poor meerkats outside need to be in a much bigger cage!!

called by as saw Food All Day sign - 3 cars on car park - got to dimly lit pub lobby and saw food quality number of stars was 3. Cannot accept that this is any good in this day and age so did not go in.

Down right dive. Was an alright pub many moons ago, decent food, nice staff, good looking pub. Not any more! The staff are rude and obviously have better things to be doing. The place looks run down and unloved. And the food?...... I wouldn't feed it to a wild fox. The carvery is appalling I've never in my life had such an awful roast dinner. Will never go back here. Food hygiene rating has only got 2 stars too!! Don't waste your time or your money!

Place is in a beautiful area and clean, pleasing to the eye, but a dower atmosphere inside. Service was average, but bless the bar maid/waitress/receptionist etc etc who was on her first day and left. Owner/manageress was scruffy. Food was not cheap and waited 45 mins, as they gave our meals to another couple who ordered 10 mins after us!. The meal consist of homemade chips (which were nice) and a double burger with Stilton cheese & Onions which was over-cooked. It was OAP day, so cheep meals, so place was full. Would i go again? No

This week I and my family attended a friends wedding, it was an afternoon wedding taking place in their conservatory and then on throughout the rest of the day and the evening.Well catered is an understatement, the food was ample and very well presented, the buffet was fantastic and the bar was well stocked and well run. Lots to do for the kids so they didn't get bored, a bouncy castle and some animals to look at and feed and they even brought in a petting zoo of many different animals including snakes, foxes, Oreo the Raccoon and others. Nothing was too much trouble and they were genuinely lovely staff and management.

i decided to visit Arties Mill and have the mixed Grill well it was outstanding the plate was massive and the food covered the plate. Now i know alot dont make a good meal the it was tasty as well. You do have to wait but i would sooner wait for the food to be cooked to order then have in in front of me within mins and there is a sign in the bar explaining this so if your in a rush this wont be the place for you. But the waitting time give you time to chat and relax

We called here one Sunday tea time. Admittedly the Calvary starts at 12 but that was no excuse when it was advertised until 8pm. We had to wait in a queue several minutes for the guy to come out & serve us & when he did his apron was filthy. It looked like The serving spoons had been stood along the front of the hot plate with food all on them for some time ! Which put me off using them & when we asked if the veg was still hot we got a rude reply! I had to say I had gone off the idea & walked away. The whole place is badly in need of some TLC as it has gone down hill since we were last there

We have always thought Carvery lunch was good value but today it was poor. Cabbage floating in water, burnt potatoes and brown cauliflower. Service was 'take it or leave it". Such a shame.

Oh my god. Been a while since I was last here. It needs a lot of TLC. When attending a wedding there a few years ago, it was lovely. What a change.We walked in to the bar where we spoke to a girl who didn't really care, as we had booked. The dining room, well it was awful. Mary Celeste+cafe. The tables were so old and scrubbed, looked awful. The carvery was a mishmash of serving dishes stacked on top of each other, with plates with ladles on caked in dried food. The most unappetising carvery I have ever seen. We then went into the bar area hoping it would be nicer, to be told they had a function last night and had run out of most popular drinks. We were given scrumpled up A4 pieces of paper as a menu. Say no more. We ended up walking out with no food, and unless it picks up we won't be going back. Which is a shame as it is a lovely place with so much potential. Someone's given up on it.

we booked our golden wedding here , Suzanne and her team were exellent throughout, nothing was too much trouble and the staff were amazing, the conservetory looked a picture, the food was great and all my 50 guests were well looked after, thankyou so much for making our day very special. the children enjoyed the bouncy castle .

Please do not go to this restaurant at any cost YOU will be disappointed. We booked a. table for nineteen people over a week ago to celebrate a friend s birthday so it wasn't like we have just turned up on the night they knew that we were coming. We ordered our food which took 1 hour and 20 min to arrive. "There's a sign above the bar that states WE DON'T SERVE FAST FOOD WE DO SERVE FRESH COOKED FOOD " they certainly don't serve fast and it certainly isn't fresh, anyway onto desert orders placed and after another hour or so the first pud arrived and placed between our dinner plates no cutlery to eat with and a further 30min so cold pud some spoons were thrown onto the table. At this point we had spent quite a lot of money and as you might understand we wanted to speak to the person in charge, when we asked the barman he said he was an apprentice where is Alan Sugar when you need him. During the evening we experienced the staff laughing at our expense as they ran back and forth with wrong orders going from table to table asking if it was theirs. AS I SAID BASIL WOULD HAVE BEEN PROUD.

we went for lunch on a Friday,the food was average for the price,however the cheese topped garlic bread was a rip off.Priced at £4-50,all it was when arriving at the table was a cheap garlic baguette sprinkled with grated cheese that you can buy in a supermarket and get TWO for around £2.Afterwards we visited the outdoor animals kept in the grounds after looking at meerkats that had no food on view and poor rubble filled soil to forage in,we became more disheartened to se next to them some ferrets again with no visible food and the only water bottle attached to the enclosure had a very green looking algae contents.This is not a good first impression for visitors to see.The interior of the dining area looks in need of a lick of paint too, why the dessert carousel was empty I didn't find out as the only member of staff on view was in the other side of the bar chatting to someone the whole time we ate.All in all not a great lunch and would travel further next time for a bite to eat.

Because I was so impressed with Arties Mill on my first visit, we returned for Mother's Day. Granted it was busy but the service we received was terrible! The whole experience felt totally disorganised. We were shown to our cramped table in the corner and then left to our own devices, nobody took a drinks order or gave us a menu, we had to go to the bar and ask. We were stood at the bar 5 minutes before the bar person appeared, there were some waitresses behind the bar but they made themselves a drink and walked away without even acknowledging us. When the bar person appeared he was very slow, I would have thought they would have been better equipped for Mother's Day! We ordered the carvery, went through to get our meals and there was nobody at the carvery cutting the meat! We waited 5 minutes until the chef appeared, by which time there was a massive queue, which luckily we were at the front of! The actual meal tasted ok but service really was terrible, I witnessed waitresses leading customers to tables that were dirty from the previous customers and they were not set. This visit has really put me off coming again. The staff didn't seem to know their elbows from their ear holes! Such a shame after our first visit to Arties mill was really good.

Booked a table for Mothers Day 2pm.. No tables ready.... People standing around waiting for pre booked tables.. When we got a table it was filthy.. Put napkins on the table.. No menus.. Eventually ordered food at 2.50pm.. Then the carvery ran out of food.. After an hour of waiting for our meals I asked 4 different members of staff who said they'd find out, but nobody did... Meals arrived after 1 hour 20 mins. Mixed grill had 4 items missing.. Totally disgusting .. People complaining people walking out. Never going again ...
