On the nicest day so far this year we sat outside and had a lovely lunch.

This pub is our favourite bar in Gateacre! Always a friendly fun atmosphere and can’t recommend it enough! All the staff are fabulous and very welcoming ❤️

Staff were great, staff coming to the table and behind the bar very friendly and easy to talk to. It was easy for a group of us and no delays in food or drink. Great service

Crap food , eggs not runny, ham out of a morrisons packet rubber chips.. Soup disgusting..Ice cream rank.

Food awfull chips like rubber. Eggs were not cooked packet ham peas like bullets staff couldn't decide what soup it was it was tasteless.garlic bread like a brick worst birthday meal I could experience wouldn't feed it to the dogs

Had nice meals, mixed grill and scampi, the real ale was well kept, good pint of Timothy Taylor's Landlord. Nice surroundings tastefully decorated and staff were helpful and friendly. The only downside is that dogs are only allowed in till 7pm. This has stopped us from going on many occasions as we have to be mindful of the deadline and it's not relaxing. I have checked a few times to see if his personality changes at 7pm but no, he is still well behaved and friendly so don't understand the rule. Otherwise well worth a visit.

Pub was clean warm and cosy. I find the staff particularly helpful and welcoming. Food was nice and I like the atmosphere. Open fires and no loud music or TVs.

Fish Finger sandwich was gorgeous. Service from the team, during a period where they had a lot of food orders, was slick and efficient, as well as polite!

I found the atmosphere and service at the Black Bull, especially from Sue, very welcoming. The décor is pleasant and the place feels very cosy. We had a very pleasant afternoon there and an enjoyable meal.

What a lovely cosy quaint pub, so welcoming, atmosphere, ambience, warmth, and most of all excellent service. Too many staff to mention but I had the pleasure of speaking to Sue, Tia and David, above 5 stars 👌

We were a party of 6 for Xmas day lunch it's was lovely from start to finish. The atmosphere was really nice and festive and all staff were very attentive and happy. The food was great couldn't fault the whole experience.

The place was overflowing with people as it was Christmas Eve but the bar staff did incredibly well and the wait wasn’t too long. The real ale selection was great, for Liverpool. There were lots of people eating but I didn’t try the food. I will definitely go again and next time I’ll try the food.

Wow and Fabulous sums up our Christmas Day lunch at the Black Bull Gateacre. Staff went above and beyond to make sure everyone was enjoying themselves the Christmas Day meal was excellent and still hot unlike other establishments we have been to on Christmas day. But really can not stress enough how good all staff kitchen and restaurant are can I book now for next Christmas

Just had a lovely Christmas day lunch in blackbull can't fault it. Atmosphere was good staff attentive 4 adults 2 children had good place to sit. Food was good no.complaints on that. Defo going to book for next year. All. Came out happy made for a good xmas day.

Thoroughly enjoyed a meal at the Black Bull last night. Service and food were great. A really good atmosphere. Back again tonight with another friend. Its a great place to take family and friends for a meal and a catchup.

Another great meal and pleasant time with dear friends. Service as always cheerful and good banter. A regular haunt for the past year along with our friends. Keep up the good work. Happy Christmas to one and all.

The English village pub is the greatest of all things on earth and the Black Bull is perhaps its apogee. Served by the two of the most friendly people I've ever met. Dave and Meghan. Both are a credit to the company.

Had a family birthday meal on Saturday and it was amazing! Every plate empty and the staff were brilliant. Well impressed!!!

It's a lovely place but price's are expensive plus there's no WiFi as we normally take pictures, so no pictures were taken.

We have been here a few times and had good service ect Unfortunately even when I had called the Black Bull to ask for a low table to accommodate older family members was spoken to very abruptly and then the phone hung up on me ! On the day of the meal the wrong starter came out and the pub manager was extremely rude and really not happy about changing the dish to what was wanted! It was extremely orkward and we where so pleased when another member of staff who was extremely helpful served us ! Will not be returning!

9 of us met up for early Christmas Dinner. We were seated in the back room, it was lovely very cosy, fire burning, with all the original features of this lovely pub. The food couldn't be faulted, the service was brilliant , staff very pleasant and happy nothing too much trouble, not that we had any issues. I highly recommend this pub I've used for the past 15 years a d never been disappointed.

Refused to accept a stonehouse gift card when it is part of the dining out and can be used at any Mitchell and butler venue? Obviously staff and management need to check terms on all cards used as none seem to know the conditions. Had sirloin steak but was very fatty, but the refusal of a valid gift card topped the expectations.

Went for lunch today had a lovely time. Staff were fab couldn’t do anymore for us. Jenny was especially lovely great customer service and so helpful. Will return again soon ❤️

Went along for lunch with friends was very busy with kids and adults, as they were having a kids day due to Halloween, staff seemed very rushed and not approachable due to this, waited half an hr for food and wasn’t impressed with presentation, just looked like burger and chips had been thrown on a plate , not even with any salad as garnish, the fish dinner was ok but fish was undercooked, ordered a brûlée with biscoff for pudding, wasn’t impressed at all as it came in a small old cup , 2 inches deep, tasted like tinned ambrosea custard with a bit of burnt sugar on the top with 2 biscoff biscuits for £6.00 ? And definitely was not brûlée, I’ve been here quite a few times as we live in the area but this was not one of my better meals , yes they were rushed , yes they’re looking for a new chef , but you can’t cut back on presentation or quantity

I visited this pub on Saturday with my wife, and we loved it. The place is nice, the food is good, the staff is friendly, and the prices are fair. We’ll definitely come back again. Highly recommend!

A decent pub that defies it's chain status by having excellent and friendly staff. It's let down slightly by inconsistent food, occasionally poor choice of, or poorly kept real beer, but on a good day, it is very good indeed. The beer garden is adequate, the menu is good and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly.

Got the fixed menue and the food was superb. It's clear they are focusing on quality food. Staff really friendly and helpful. A very enjoyable afternoon. Dog friendly too which meant we could take our doggy too.

Generally, great. But two of our party ordered the avocado and mixed grain salad which according to the menu should have been 'Bulgur wheat, giant couscous, butternut squash, red onion and cranberries, mixed with little gem lettuce, fresh sliced tomato, cucumber and ripe avocado tossed in a zesty pineapple & ginger dressing.' and received basic salad - lettuce, tomato, cucumber, avocado, red onion. Very disappointed. Shame to pay £9 for basically a large side salad

Had a lovely meal with family for my husbands Birthday. Food was beautiful and staff were amazing. Would definitely recommend.

Went here with my husband and daughter on Wednesday evening, nice atmosphere, had starters mains and a huge desert. Food was served quickly and very hot, enjoyed by all 3 of us. Will be in again as we are local.

What a smashing pub! Different rooms & tables to choose to sit at. Love the decor. The beers were great and the food was fresh, delicious & wrll price. Staff were great & very friendly too. Will be back very soon!
