Yet again, another good meal in a pleasant environment. Good standard of food , fish,chips, and mushy peas. Steak pie,chips,peas & carrots.

Absolutely fantastic all round!! Great food, great staff, great atmosphere… Forget the slightly dated paint on the front, get inside. Menu is vast and all of it up to scratch and beyond. Thank you so much for looking after us on our visit!

Every time we have eaten at the Bull it’s been fantastic, large portions and very friendly staff. Dogs are more than welcome 🐶🥰

Eat here regularly we’ve never had a bad meal. Good choice on menu always friendly & welcoming Good selection of beers. Been to a couple of charity nights always well supported.

This pub just delivers every time we visit. The food is just incredible and there is loads of it and they are so welcoming. I had been thinking of stroganoff all day so it was an easy choice and my mates steak in a pot was nearly overflowing. Best chips around!

Absolutely amazing meal today at the Black Bull. Fish pie was amazing. I'm so glad it's on the main menu. My husband had the special burger, and he said it's the best burger he has ever had. Hospitality was excellent, as always, thanks to a perfect ending to our long weekend Xxx

Great food, 3 of us came for lunch Saturday 20th January. Really great portions, loads of choice. Pub has lovely atmosphere, really nice landlord and super dog friendly. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back.

Always guaranteed great home cooked food & generous portions at The Black Bill. Our second visit of the month & second Turkey dinner as it was so good on the first visit I had to have it again! Followed by a mince pie cheesecake ‘cakeaway’ kindly boxed up for taking home. Friendly service as always, more than value for money.

Family live in Knott End so whilst visiting them and seeing some good reviews about The Black Bill, we paid them a visit and wasn’t disappointed. Good pub food, cosy and friendly atmosphere and the added bonus that accept cash unlike other pubs in the area.

Superb as always. Friendly service & a great choice of real ales on the pumps. Eaten here many times, excellent food. Huge portions, smaller portions available on quite a few meals, still very filling. I opted for the home made Steak & ale pie, generous portion with fresh veg & chips ..delicious. Husband chose Beef Stroganoff with chips, he said it was superb. Looked really nice, my choice next time 🤔 Definitely recommend eating here, great food at very reasonable prices. Dog friendly 🐾

Have eaten here several times since moving to the area last November, we have had several great meals. We have tried lots of items on the menu and have enjoyed them all. Great value and friendly staff and our dog is welcome too.

These are "small plates for lighter eaters". Plus a drink each, Bill was £21:95! Great value for money, good quality, Bargain! Steak in a Pot with home cut chips and vegetables, and Lasagne accompanied by home cut chips and a side salad. Very tasty and plenty on the plate. You will not be disappointed if you eat here. Will return without a shadow of doubt.

Always a great meal to be had when eating here. New landlords, so friendly & welcoming. Great selection of real ales as always on the pumps from Lancashire based breweries. Food was superb, hot & freshly cooked. Portions are huge so we opt for the smaller size.

From the lovely attentive staff, right down to the truly wonderful meals, this was a tasty experience! Hubby had the butterfly chicken with Diane sauce, and chips, with an extra side of onion rings, and said if was really good! Son had the mince beef pie with mash, carrots and peas, and said it was the best he’s tasted! Daughter in law had the lasagne, with chips and salad, which she said was excellent. And I had the chicken carbonara (the lighter bite) which was fantastic! If you have a big appetite, go for the big serving, otherwise, the lighter bite is great, I couldn’t even finish it all!! There were so many onion rings, we all got to taste them, and they were wonderful! We all wished we could have had room for dessert, they looked great, and were a decent price too! We will certainly be returning to the Black Bull, there are so many different choices to try! Loved the booth where we sat too! The gentleman who served us was VERY nice too!

I have lost count of the amount of time's we have visited this establishment & can honestly say we have never been disappointed! The ambiance is always perfect, as is the delicious food, always something new on the specials board for you to try & they are consistent, food spot on, well done! Everything we love about a true country pub.

Went here today for the first time in more than 10 years. What a brilliant decision it was. Food was fantastic and lots of it too. Staff and landlord super friendly and nothing was too muc( trouble. Definitely be going again soon.

Went here for a meal with the family absolutely cozy surroundings ,staff friendly and also prompt service .I had the prawn cocktail for starters arrived beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. We also had the onion rings which I would also recommend beautifully crisp batter .For mains we had the haddock , sweet chilli chicken and the steak and ale pie .The portions were of a good size and qll absolutely delicious and tasty .Will definitely be making a return trip .Also dog friendly which is also a plus

My mum and I went for an early tea. Huge portions, we had minced beef and onion pie which was packed full of mince, delicious. Service was exceptional, very professional and friendly. Will definitely return again after the next lockdown.

This Gastro pub was virtually next door to our accommodation and we visited on Friday 14th with iur hists and very good friends who live in Preesall.What a meal. Substantial and full of flavours. My wife had the Black Pudding starter while I, a traditionalist, went for the Prawn Cocktail. My wife hasn't yet stopped talking about her starter some 3 days later. For the mains, I had the Haddock and chips and she had the steak and ale pie. Both were delicious and the portion size would fill even the most ravenous guest.I didn't have to pay for this meal as it was covered by our over-generous hosts (thank you) but I noted the prices on the menu and can confirm that the meal represents excellent value for money.We'll be back

I haven't eaten here before, in fact even though I live in the village, I haven't stepped foot in here for years!So glad we did. We decided to go because of the 50% off deal in August 2020. We each had something different but none of us were disappointed. The food was really good, especially the chips! Lol. Excellent service, hot very tasty food and clean.Definitely revisiting.

Due to the restrictions we pre booked a table. We were pleased with the distancing measures. We both ordered steak and ale pie, chips and veg from the reduced menu. The food was hot and very tasty. There was a good choice of sweets. A nice real ale to wash it all down. Good value and worth a visit.

Visited twice in the last 2 months and will definitely go back again. Great menu choice, good home cooked food and as for the portions, the meals can satisfy the biggest appetite. If I had to find fault it would be that there is too much! Can personally recommend the Steak in the Pot and Club Sandwich. The hot baguettes get the thunbs up from my husband. Booking advisable and no wonder!

Good home made food, not flash but fresh and tasty. Beer well kept. Toilets clean. Only the outside lets in down being uncared for.

We have had two meals here, lunch which was excellent and the Christmas menu which was disappointing. The lunch was superb and was our first visit, we had baguettes with salad and chips and they were delicious with plenty of filling. the pub is a proper pub with tables tucked away and very cosy. We booked christmas lunch of this basis and brought some friends and were disappointed. Not with the standard of the food which was good but that half of the menu was not available, specifically the bits we wanted!! It has not put us off eating there but we would think again on a special night

Family decended on us this Christmas break and after anouncing that they were all hungry, I rang the Black Bull to see if we could possibly get a table for 6 at short notice. Within half an hour we were sat at our table drinks in hand waiting for our meal.Food was excellent as always and Anthony even got my wife's favourite dish which was not on the specials board that day. All the family agreed that this made our day special.

I hadn't visited this pub for some time. It is still excellent value for money both the food and the beer. Only eat here if you are hungry, the portions are substantial. I first visited in 2017 the standard has remained constant.

Just had a wonderful meal again at the black bull. The food was excellent. We had a great young chap looking after us who was an excellent host and waiter. He worked so hard he's an excellent member of staff and very pleasant. I would highly recommend this pub

We went to celebrate my Dads ninety fourth birthday. Although born in Walsall in the midlands he moved to Preesall as a youngster and grew up there until moving to Blackpool in the 1940's so there was a lot of nostalgia involved.The pub so I'm told was closed and empty for a time and then refurbished and returned to its former glory as an old world hostelry,low ceilings with roof beams and sash windows, old photographs and all the genuine paraphernalia that you might expect. A good selection beers,wines and spirits on offer and a great meal was had. Pork chops for me and my partner Alice with all the trimmings, fish and chips for my mum & dad all served piping hot, cooked in a traditional way. You have to wait but its worth it whilst soaking up the atmosphere of the place.The price is a little more than some other places but only pence and is well recommended. Everybody with our party enjoyed it and by the looks of things so did everybody in the pub.A word of caution though about the roads over Wyre. There seems to be quite a lot of 21st century boy racers and motorcyclists in the area on 19th century designed roads so keep your eyes peeled, also the car park at the rear of the pub can be a bit awkward but don't let it stop you having a great visit .

lived in the area for 12 years, often called in for a drink or two. Have no idea why we have not eaten here for some time. There is a good selection of dishes and we ( and friends ) have recently tried half of them. Every dish has been good, plentiful and tasty. Their prices are also very reasonable. Service is friendly and we have always received a warm welcome. Would definitely recommend. Tip: if more than 2 in your party I would definitely recommend reserving a table, it quickly gets booked up at the weekends, mid week you will probably be ok

I chose to visit the Black Bull one evening with a new male friend. The pub was quiet with only a handful of guests. We only bought a drink and no food and was in the pub around 2 hour. I have lived in the village and suggested The Bull, as I have only been once before many years ago.

Decided to give this another visit I’ve not been here for years. The starters were excellent we had garlic bread with cheese and chicken strips both excellent, I went for the lasagne as did my wife the portion size is huge, very tasty and not greasy I choose to have chips, I’m not a huge fan of home cut chips but they were hot and nice.

Called in to the black bull for the 1st time since moving to the area, we got a warm welcome from the staff presume was landlord found a table, ordered food I had the scampi which was lovely hot and fresh my other half had lasagna which he said was lovely. Couple of drinks although it’s quite small after having a meal at the bourne arms this was far better. Nice to see they was specials on the board as well. Would definitely return. Worth a visit

Called in on Saturday night for a couple of drinks. The atmosphere was really warm and friendly. We were made to feel welcome and loved the village feel. When we visit the area again we will certainly call in for a couple of drinks again and planning to have a meal too, only the menu looked great.

Good atmosphere, excellent gluten free options, Beer very good. Food was very acceptable. Best of all Pub dog was very amiable.

Been aaay so went to see parents and they took me for a bit of lunch. It's only down the road for us so very convenient. The food was fantastic for the money. It's not gourmet and didn't expect so nor did I wish for. Just good pub grub at a decent price and it delivered that perfectly. I had steak and ale pie. Decent portion and upon asking for a little more gravey they obliged no problem. Veg was just carrots and peas. Not sliced in a fancy way that means they can charge the earth just cooked and put on the plate next to a nice piece of home made steak pie (good chunks of meat) and home cooked chips. It was a very good portion size all for £8.50. Dad had Gannon £11 which he says was every bit as nice as the place they usually go but was £2 cheaper. Mum had lagsange £8 which she said was a bit lacking in tomato but was happy enough.

The food is what I would describe as superbly cooked traditional pub food. There is something on the menu for everyone & it is all home made. The pub is very busy & it made a refreshing change to eat such a lovely meal in an unspoilt traditional English pub.

Having recently moved into the village of Preesall and having heard good things about The Black Bull my wife and I decided to pay a visit. We had passed a number of times and the car park and parking outside appeared to be full which was a good sign. Rather than take the car we walked along The Wyre Way to Hambleton and round to The Black Bull. We were certainly ready for lunch. There certainly was plenty of it, Scampi and Chicken/Black Pudding in mustard sauce. Both meals were cooked well but the overall feeling was one of disappointment. Somehow they weren't what we were expecting. 'Dirty Chips' - fries with melted cheese and bacon bits. The chips weren't cooked properly, pale and limp. I wasn't expecting half a dozen small pieces of bacon and a tiny amount of grated cheese melted on top of the chips for the extra £2.50. Staff were friendly and attentive. Beer was good.

I stopped here at lunchtime by chance but was extremely pleased I did. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the menu varied and the food tasty. Looking forward to returning.

This is our go pub when we eat out or when family visits. We take a disabled friend and everyone goes that extra mile to make her comfortable. The landlord is brilliant if there is a request for anything he will try his best to accomodate his customers. The food is very good with all tastes covered and smaller portions are available.

Ordered a steak but had to return it to kitchen as it was too tough. A second steak was supplied but despite cooking for a little longer the Meat was still poor quality. Staff &service; excellent.

Lovely little pub was a party on the night we went and although is a small place fit everyone and thing in. Has parking round the back and seats outside. Watch out for the low beams lol. Have also eaten here in the past and the food is truly fantastic.

We came to The Black Bull for tea after it was recommended by our Airbnb host in Preesall. The pub was really full with plenty of people eating which we always interpret as the sign of a good pub. We were seated in a quiet back room and the waitress even came and took our order at the table rather than having to note a table number and order at the bar. My wife went to the bar and ended up chatting to the landlady for about 10 minutes, my wife is a chatter but it shows how friendly it was.

Popped in here while staying down the road and glad we did. Locals made us feel welcome so we ordered food. I had steak and ale pie, lovely and huge portion and very reasonably priced. I mostly judge pubs on their beer and it was a good pint too, happy days.

We were called to celebrate my husbands birthday. We thought we would try it after reading the 5* reviews, and I’m pleased to say we were not disappointed. We started with the soup of the day which was Leek and Potato, and delicious. We both ordered the Steak for the main meal and I can honestly say it was the nicest Steak weve had for a long time. We like our steak well done and it can some times be quite tough if cooked to long but the steak we had at the Black Bull was lovely and tender and juicy. We were greeted by the lovely resident black Labrador who is very nosy and cute. We will definitely be going back the next time we have something to celebrate, if not before.

I love this little pub. Usually greeted first by the resident Labrador so what could be better than that? It looks the part with its quirky interior which is a mix of tiny little rooms so beware if you are tall, lots of head ducking required! But you are rewarded with a fabulously friendly atmosphere. Always busy for dining, which in my book is a very good sign, so if yours is a large party I would recommend reserving a table. The food is excellent, something for everyone, and there are always specials on the board. Portions are big so you most certainly won't leave feeling hungry. Service is also excellent and there's never a long wait for food or bar service. Parking can be a bit tricky at busy times as its a small village but if you're anywhere near here it is definitely worth visiting.

We went today for our Christmas meal. Absolutely lovely. We go regularly to The Black Bull and the service is always excellent and friendly. The food is always great.I'm a vegetarian coeliac and the staff are so good and they were great about arranging a three course Christmas meal for me. Compliments to chef Laura for a fabulous meal and I haven't been 'glutened'! It is very difficult to get a vegetarian, gluten free option in most places but they are great here and don't make it a problem and don't make me feel awkward.Great place.
