Great service, friendly warm welcome. The meal was very tasty with plenty of fresh ingredients. It's nice having little extras included too such as prawn crackers, fortune cookies and chocolate.

I can't recommend this Chinese restaurant enough . The food is always cooked fresh it's always piping hot and Ben and his team go above and beyond to make you feel welcome . They will create a dish for you if there is something you would specifically like . A Great asset To Honiton .

Popped in on our first night in Honiton. Greeted by lovely staff, who took our order quickly. Food arrived hot, tasty, and full of flavour. Great value for money, and will return if we are back in the area.

We've just eaten here, and it's been a fantastic experience visiting Honiton. The staff are very welcoming / friendly / helpful. You can easily see they are passionate about their restaurant and the amazing food. We always eat out when away from home, Chinese is our favourite, although we've had a mixed bag of experiences. This place blows every place we've been to in the UK. The food is super fresh and sourced a few doors down at the butchers. Top side beef beautifully cooked melts in your mouth. All the food tastes fresh and perfectly seasoned and cooked. We can not recommend this local restaurant highly enough. Thank you so much for the experience

Where do I start?....absolutely terrible! I took my girlfriend out for a meal we both had a starters to share and when it came it was disappointing! We were asked if we were sharing to wich we replied "yes" and we received a small bowl of squid with a tiny side garnish and 3 tiny ribs!! Yes 3?to share between 2? Very poor for apx £16 well at least we ordered a substantial house chow mein!! and a chicken chow mein! Well it was Absolutely laughable! It wasn't even a child's size plateful we had,the plates were absolutely tiny and although it tasted good it was a joke the portion size.. I had to get a napkin from another table as was not offered no more than the 1 provided, We complained and was told that's the size of there dishes and nobody has complained b4?, Don't get me wrong, I'm a small 10.5 stone man and my gf is a size 10 we by no means have a massive appetite but we left the place "hungry and £50 lighter" , I asked for a discount to wich i was denied and just had the chef staring at me with a nasty and unfriendly look...I will add halfway threw our meal two of the chefs were looking at us threw the doors from the back garden smoking cigarettes laughing aloud! Wich was very unsightly...dident even get a fortune cookie! I WILL NOT EVER GO BACK NOR WILL I RECOMMEND THIS ESTABLISHMENT TO ANYBODY. .

Booked here on our first evening staying close by , was a last minute decision to head out and a table on a Saturday evening was found for us , food was fantastic , portions were generous .

Once again a fantastic meal here! Booked last minute and accommodated for! We chose a set meal for 2 with a couple of extras. More than enough food - even took some home! All the staff very friendly and cheery!

When I went to pick up my food the place was empty. The staff were nice and the guy on the phone who took my order sounded happy. But… The food was horrible. Ingredients did not feel fresh and the noodles were the dry ones you rehydrate; not fresh egg noodles like you SHOULD have in a chow mein for example. The food didn’t actually taste like much and then all of a sudden you’d get a horrible flavour from the meat or a vegetable. Along with the food not tasting like much.. it feels like they’d added too much MSG.. have you ever tried a finger full of MSG? Tasteless and disgusting. Made me and my friends feel very poorly that night and the day after.

Came here for my birthday meal, service was good however restaurant felt dated and unloved compared to busy takeaway area. The restaurant itself was very cold also which made the stay uncomfortable. Food was delicious yet more expensive if eating in.

I have eaten here many times. I always place a similar order and it is always as expected - very good! Great value for money too. We had a take away last week which fed 4 people for £29.95 and we were stuffed. Staff are fantastic, I have been given a dish for free on a large order before and it has been known to receive a free beer whilst I wait to collect my order too.

The service is very good even if the young lads struggle with opening a bottle of wine which made me laugh. The food was alright although a little on the salty side and sauces a bit too thick for my taste but I do have a Chinese background so maybe I expect more, it was pretty busy with locals so cannot be too bad and maybe the restaurant caters for their choice. We come from west London and the competition for Chinese food is fierce and catered very much for an oriental pallet. I think the negative 1 stars are very harsh and the 5 stars are from those with a different European pallet. Although we probably wouldn't go again I certainly wouldn't put others off going to try as it was a reasonable cost and a pleasant holiday night out.

Lovely food and friendly service. Stumbled on this place on a Tuesday so very quiet. The food was great. We picked a set menu and had so much food ended up bringing home a doggy bag.would recommend.

Food terrible - beef and green pepper like eating chunks of slime - chicken curry so sweet it'd make you sick -pancake rolls full of uncooked dough - what's to like - nothing! Don't waist your money!!!

Great service by the youngsters on the front desk but unfortunately the food was disgusting. Beef in black bean sauce was soooooo salty it was inedible. This is one of our favourite dishes usually, but this was the worst we've ever had. Pork chow main had tiny bits of fatty pork, noodles obviously from a pack and a tasteless sauce. Spring rolls tasteless too. The only half decent thing was the egg fried rice. Most of it went in the bin, so we definately wont be returning.

Absolutely amazing food! We had one each of the set meals with a few extras on the side. Cooked and presented lovely. All delicious. Booked with an hours notice for a party of 6. All staff friendly and helpful, making sure all our needs were attended to! Can't wait until our next visit!

Having booked a table for a bithday meal we arrived to a very cold restaurant. Waited 30 minutes before our drinks order was taken. We sat with our coats on. The food was cold and very poor quality. We paid for the 1st course and drinks which cost £74.00 and we shall never go back. A very bad experience. The Owner a Young Man telephoned me later in the evening to apologise for the cold as he said he could have put some heaters by us. As regards the service then he said that he had two staff which rang in to say they would not be in that night. The food was cold because they had issues in the kitchen and the electrician had not arrived to fix the electrics so they had to have the back door open to let out the cooking fumes. More excuses followed. When i mentioned that i would be leaving negative feedback i was called names. I was offered another meal if i wanted and was asked not to punish him with the feedback. The restaurant concentrates on take away more than the table service. Once tried and not forgotten. It spoilt the birthday celebration. I should have taken note of the feedback and gone elsewhere. I have never left negative feedback before however it is necessary in this instance

Fantastic place, food tasty, service amazing and our waitress Lauren was just the best. She made our visit super enjoyable. Attentive but not intrusive, so interesting to speak with and so switched on. We would highly recommend this restaurant. Thanks Lauren for being a role model for this restaurant.

Worst Chinese food we have had in 50 years. Prawn toast was soggy, chicken satay was dry and overcooked, springs rolls were tasteless and the samosa is difficult to describe. The toffee banana was cold inside and the fried coating which was supposed to be crispy was soggy and inedible. Food presentation was poor. The floor was dirty around the table. The service was good and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Pity the food was so awful. All we can say is that it was an unforgettable experience. Perhaps they were just having a bad night ! Sorry about the bad review but they really need to step up if they expect customers to return.

High street Chinese run by young and enthusiastic staff .Menu typical of most Chinese and the food pretty much the same ,nothing wrong just all a bit ordinary .Premises can be difficult to Access if disabled as several steps

Busy restaurant but good effecient service,all the staff were really polite and helpful. Been here before and the high standard of food as been maintained. The set meals seem really good value. As always really enjoyed the crispy duck.

I used this restaurant for a take away service and was really pleased with the customer service from the two young ladies at the front of house, the speed of service was fast and the meals we ordered tasted great. This was our first visit as they ate open on Mondays!! Unlike most other Chinese restaurants that stay closed on Mondays.

Staying locally so went here for dinner.A good welcome and a comprehensive menu. My wife needed gluten free and the serving staff brought the cook to our table to check all would be ok.The food came surprisingly quickly but was excellent, very hot and tasty. Chop-sticks were provided.All together a lovely meal provided by quick attentive staff.

Went to the Birds Nest for my Birthday, Friday for dinner where my son had travelled down from London for a nice meal and was served the most bland meal EVER. The noodles were crunchy, the sizzling lamb slimy, the Chicken Satay dry. Should have had a takeway from accoss the road. We had been to this restaurant a number of years ago and the food was wonderful so was very disapointed and won't be back again. No wonder the restaurant was empty on a Friday evening!

An impromptu visit to the Birds Nest on Sat night. We were early and the place soon filled up creating a buzzy atmosphere. The service was very efficient and super friendly. Despite being busy the food was beautifully cooked and served very promptly. They also do takeaway as well. Thank you for a fab meal.

We ordered a takeaway from here and didn’t really enjoy it. The chips were inedible. They looked and had the texture of chips that had been reheated in the fat several times. Disgusting! The rest was ok, (Chow mein), but pretty bland. I’ve had far better for less money. Won’t be returning.

Five of us booked in early Friday evening on 02/11/18 for a meal. All of us enjoyed our starters but when the rice and noodles came out there was a very long wait for the rest of the meals to follow. Needless to say the rice and noodles became cold but give credit where credit is due, they replaced the rice dishes and we we proceeded to enjoy our meals. Even better, they also provided us with a free round of drinks!

Best Chinese for miles and miles. Fresh food, friendly staff. Duck is much better on the bone when you have wraps. Ribs excellent.

My husband and I decided to try this restaurant as we were in the area. I cannot eat gluten and the restaurant were able to accommodate to my intolerance. Food was fantastic and tasted fresh. I would recommend the king prawns with szechuan as it was particularly tasty. Servers were also friendly. I would recommend this restaurant.

We arrived without a booking and the restaurant was empty except table of 2 and were quickly sat down then moved to another table. We ordered the set menu B consisting of starters, duck & 3 mains with rice. The waitress quickly returned to appolgise as there would be a 5 minute wait for starters, she left some prawn crackers. More than happy with 5 min wait as that in our opinion is actually very quick. Witin 5 minutes they did arrive but were average at best, the usual selection of deep fried goodies but quite tasteless and luke warm.

Thursday 13th September and we visited this restaurant for the first time and we were not disappointed.

Called here with relatives from Honiton whilst en-route to Cornwall. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Amazing flavours. Excellent friendly service. Especially kind to our lovely Aunt who has mobility problems and needed assistance. We all loved it!

Decided to treat the family to a chinese, after having a take out from here before and hearing lots of recommendation thought we would have it from here again.

I have used the Birds Nest many times , Ben the Proprietor works so hard to keep everyone happy although he’s front of house he jumps in the kitchen to help whenever they are stretched to maintain the High standards the strive for . Our food was piping hot , tasted amazing and there was so much food we had to have a doggy bag . Well done Ben we will see you soon in my next visit from Kent .

We held a birthday meal for 9 here just this evening and what a brilliant time we had. Combine excellent food to suit all tastes with lovely welcoming staff and your in for a treat. Nothing was too much, from taking nuts out of a certain dish to giving us extra plates. The staff also joined in with singing happy birthday.

With living close to Honiton my wife and I have been aware of this restaurant and menu when shopping. Decided to try a Takeaway but was very dissatisfied with the quality. The spring rolls where cooked outside but were soggy inside with what looked like potato as filling. The duck in sauce was tough, the special chow mien was dry and lacked flavour and extra ingredients. Very disappointed with my wife saying it was the worst Chinese meal we have every had. Will not be returning to this establishment.

We visited this Chinese Restaurant while we were on holiday in Honiton in July 2018. It was recommended to us by a local person.The food was freshly made, plentiful and beautifully presented at a really fair price. The staff were very friendly and obliging. The appearance from the outside wasn't the best but inside it was very clean and the toilets were absolutely spotless. It also provides a take-away service which was very popular with locals. Well worth a visit if you're in Honiton!

Visited as a group of 4 we sat to a round table in the front bay , lots of people in and out for takeaway but we were tucked enough out of the way. Staff were very polite and helpful and we all really enjoyed our food had 2 bottles of wine and the bill was very reasonable . We will deff be back.

We stopped here on the way home late one Saturday night. The staff were all really friendly and welcoming. It was very clean and had a nice feel to the place. Service was nice and quick but we weren’t at all rushed to finish. The food was great and there was loads of it.

I bought a take out meal from the Bird's Nest restaurant instead of from a takeaway in the hope that I would have a superior meal. I was so wrong. The chicken curry was bland and lacking in curry flavour. The chicken satay must have been a reheat...it was tough and chewy. Never again.

I have visited this place on several occasions with family and it has always provided consistent service. The food is amazing, the meal options for 2 are great and always allow you to try something new.

We have had a few takeaways from Birds Nest and they really do seem to vary in quality, some OK and others dry and pretty awful. We recently had one that has put me off for good.

Selected this place from TripAdvisor as the best takeaway in Honiton. It wasn’t the best takeaway I’ve had. Apart from the Battered Prawns which were crispy on the outside but raw in the middle, the rest was ok. We were staying on a farm several miles outside of the town so it wasn’t worth taking the prawns back. The prices and quantities were good but it just wasn’t to my taste.

A wide choice on the menu. We chose sizzling lamb with ginger and spring onion which was really tasty and nicely presented. Unfortunately we had to eat early and at 5.30 in the evening there is very little atmosphere, especially as we were the only customers in the restaurant! Access is not good for older customers who may struggle with the spiral staircase. Car parking is also difficult unless you know the area...we were lucky to find a space close by. BUT overall, it was a good experience and we would go again but later in the evening.

Found this by chance and not disappointed. Food and service very good. We thought the Lamb in Blackbean sauce was stand out but Peking Duck was excellent. We went on a Thursday but both thought service might struggle on a busy Saturday night. Will definitely return.

All winter have enjoyed take aways here. Sadly they were very busy last saturday. And take away was not as good very greasy all dishes. Visit when its not busy food is good

We ate here to celebrate our son's 18th birthday. There were 12 of us all together including teenagers, children and infants. The food was brilliant, the service was efficient and friendly. It was an excellent evening. Thank you for making such a special occasion so enjoyable.

Love this place. Eating in or having a take away has always been delicious. This is our first take away in months and it was honestly the most tastless chinese meal we've ever had. So disappointed. Such a waste.The service though was very good. The guys behind the counter were very friendly.

We went to the birds nest for a family dinner. The outside of the restaurant really is not very appealing but I had read the reviews on trip advisor and also seen it had a good food hygiene rating. The food really was very good and service was also of a high standard. The only disappointment was that the floor was very sticky and the window we were sat next to was quite dirty. With a few areas they could spruce up this could really be a very nice place to visit. The takeaway part of the restaurant was very busy too even though mid week!

Wasn't the worst Chinese I ever had but far from the best, pretty average really.Maybe tell the Chinese waiter to put a shirt on or something at work and look at least a little bit presentable/professional.

I have eaten here a few times and the food is always great and good value for money there a good options for vegetarians but not so many options for vegans as there tofu contains egg?? However the staff are always friendly and we always have a great time here.

This was, for a number if years, the only Chinese we used in the area for both restaurant and take away food. The quality has gradually declined though and our most recent take away meal was so poor that we will not be returning. Greasy, bland and poor quality ingredients.

This is a long established and one of the better Chinese restaurants .Not too large with a good selection of food .Parking often available in the road outside which is good if you want a takeaway
