Had the small plates which were nice, had a family outing her for the whole night and the staff was lovely! Saturday night as well, so atmosphere was great :)

We were slightly disappointed as they hadn't had a delivery of vegetables so couldn't order food, but apart from that it was all good.

States online kitchen closes at 8pm. Decided on food. Apparently stopped taking orders at 18:45!! Awful

Popped in before going to the football for a bite to eat. Food was good service was great well worth a visit

Had a great late lunch with my bestest work mates we all ordered pretty much the same sort of food i had the Pulled spicy Beef on a flat bread with a side of fries really tasty and under a tenner.

Lovely little pub, will be visiting again...

Well impressed with our first visit to Bird I'th Hand. Older type pub that caters for circa 40 covers. Still retains the type of atmosphere for regular/ local drinkers. The staff are very pleasant and attentive. Food was excellent . . Can recommend the Steak & Ale pie !! They offer free refills on the hot drinks which was appreciated. An overall excellent visit 👍

Beer garden good, Beer and orange juice good, service good except for the fact that we were told when trying to order food at 6:30pm on a Sunday that we couldn't order any food and that fryers had been turned off only to see another 3x burgers and chips go out to the Beer garden at 7pm.. Just weird to stop serving food so early on a Sunday and to lie to customers and tell them the fryers have been turned off when they obviously hadn't been..

Good food and service despite being packed out.

Great carpark adjacent to the pub. Reserved a table for 6 people and was a little disappointed to see there were only 2 chairs... Which were occupied. The other customers apologised and moved when I pointed out the reservation stand on the table. I then had to move the dirty dishes off the table and ask other customers to move their tables so I could fit another 4 chairs around mine. I chose a meal off the menu (cauliflower wings)... But they weren't available. I then chose a burger.... It wasn't available. I then chose a steak sandwich. Waited nearly an hour for our food. 2 meals came out and 2 sets of cutlery were placed on the table and the staff member said "enjoy your meal". Nothing wrong with that.... Except we'd ordered 6 meals. 2 more meals and 2 more sets of cutlery.... And finally the last 2. The chips and steak were over cooked. Very disappointed all round with my food. However, my son and his girlfriend really enjoyed theirs. The pub was VERY busy and the staff were nice. The atmosphere was great. The menu has good options for vegans but sadly not all items were available.

Returning to this pub after many years, I was filled with nostalgia and anticipation. In the past, this establishment had been a favourite haunt for drinks and meals, particularly renowned for its delicious pizzas and early morning breakfast offerings on weekends. However, my recent visit left much to be desired, particularly in terms of the food. While I fondly recalled the delectable pizzas of the past, the reality fell short of my expectations. The selection was limited to three options (if I recall correctly): margarita, spicy, and BBQ chicken. Opting for the BBQ chicken pizza, I was disappointed to find it lacking in flavor, with the predominant taste being that of the BBQ sauce covering any other possible flavour. The chicken appeared to be pre-cooked by the supplier, diminishing the overall quality of the dish. Similarly, my wife's order of Chicken Hunter was underwhelming, I think this could be the saddest chicken hunter I have seen in my life. As depicted in the accompanying image, the dish was far from the hearty and satisfying meal we had hoped for. It appears that the management may have shifted their focus towards beverages rather than food, transforming the establishment into more of a sports pub than a culinary destination. Which is not bad either but while the ambiance and memories of past visits remain fondly cherished, the current dining experience leaves much to be desired. 😔

Today 25th went in for lunch. Bar staff welcoming and pleasant however food was not very good. My husband had chicken wings which were ok. I had steak melt. The steak was mostly grissle which was most of the steak. A very thin layer of cheese two small pieces of baby gem lettuce which was limp. Chips were good. I was asked by the person behind the bar when I went to pay was my food ok. I told her about the steak and was met with a sorry. Won’t be eating here again. Shame because it looks an improvement inside.

Visited on Wednesday 30 August, really looking forward to enjoying a meal, only to find out the chef shut the kitchen at 8pm as no Manchester City matches were being screened 🤔

Food was ok but not value for money , this pub used to draw people in with fresh pizza years ago . There’s no draw anymore no different from any other pub in the area , we feel you don’t get enough food for your money . Shame really as we used to come here a lot . On the positive side staff are great

Went in as it had just been done up. Not the most welcoming atmosphere with heavy rock music playing. Food was OK, they had ran out of something but politely rectified it however my medley of green veg was a bowl of peas! The wine was dearer at the bar than on the new menu? No refund given the menu was just removed. Overall a pleasant visit but won't be rushing back.

Food took ages to come even though pub was empty. Waited 7 mins for cutlery. Steak served cold. Came with curry sauce instead of peppercorn sauce, side order forgotten and waitress started clearing the table while people still eating. Rude. Buttermilk chicken very dry and more like a southern fried chicken fillet.

Absolutely horrendous - first of all the bar staff made an error with our food order. When they brought it out into the beer garden asking whose food it was, we explained that it was ours but there was an error. The server was extremely rude to us - turned out we were correct. Our food then came in dribs and drabs. And it was dire. The layered nachos was a bowl of stale cheap nachos and a thimble of the most disgusting chile con carne I have ever tasted. We sent these nachos back as they were stale, chewy and so inedible. This was met with a rolling of the eyes! One of our chicken dumplings had blue roll stuck to it - they took the plate, ripped off the blue roll and part of the dumpling and brought it back. The salad was inedible as it was so dry and old. Despite all of these errors there was never any form of apology or sorry. A simple word that would have gone a long way. My Pimms was not cheap but came with no fruit. Avoid this place - it is a disappointment and an absolute waste of money.

Nice pub right next to Flixton Common, loads of free parking spaces. Good priced food and the kids ate free through the week. Food was very nice and the staff very helpful. We then went and sat in the beer garden as the sun was shining.

Can't comment on the bar downstairs but can on the room upstairs. Attended a party there and was disgusted in 2 particular practices. 1. To have 2 standard litre bottles of coke on the side and then pour it into glasses and charge £2.75 each. Rip off made worse by flat coke 2. Have lemonade in an open jug which was flat as I discovered when I bought gin and lemonade which was definitely flat lemonade Very shoddy unfortunately.

First visit to this pub and I cannot say enough good things about it. An amazingly warm welcome, great food from Joel the chef who helped out to create a veggie dish not on the main menu. Well looked after by the lovely Jan & Lucy who couldn't do enough for us. Thank you so much for a lovely evening. Will definitely be back!

Just been in for a Sunday dinner, it was disappointing. The vegetables were not cooked properly, the roast potatoes were burnt, it just wasn't a nice meal. Won't be eating there again

Recently visited and learning it has changed hands, menus and chefs. Was pleasantly surprised when we arrived (on a Monday) to find the deal of the day was 241 burgers so they was out obvious choice. (They have different deals, curry and a pint and fish Fridays) the first on the bar was helpful and them also informed me that throughout January mon-third there is an additional 25% off so 2 burger meals a childrens meal and 3 drinks cost less than £20. The food was freshly cooked and we all enjoyed every bit of it and thought it was good good value without the 25% off so will defo be visiting again.

Not a bad pub. Prices are average for the area. The Last couple of times I've been. The chef hasn't turned up for work!

Such a warm welcome as soon as you walk in, plenty of tables to sit at very comfortable. Our server Molly is just amazing full of fun and really engaging.

Visit this place twice. On Sunday kitchen closes early, fair enough. On Monday, kitchen was closed because the kitchen was too hot for the chef to cook. Terms and conditions apply when visiting this place.

Nice pub great food a free car park,

Held a presentation there for a local under 8s football team, the staff were amazing and we were all well looked after.

We had use of 2 lovely rooms, plus a private toilet. The rooms were lovely, and really reasonable. One room was great for dancing, with disco lights, and the other was carpeted and perfect for serving food. We had access to a sound system which was fuss free. In addition to all this, the staff were brilliant, really lovely, and nothing was too much trouble for them. Thanks so much guys.

There's currently a deal on for half price main courses Monday to Wednesday so my friend and I thought we'd try it. They don't do pizzas anymore, but there was a good selection of mains including burgers, fish and chips, all day breakfast, Thai Red curry, mac n cheese, chicken dishes. My friend had prawn salad and I had a plant based burger, which came with fries and onion rings. Not bad for under £5 each meal. You order at the bar and they bring the food to you quite quickly afterwards. Really nice experience.

As far as pub grub goes this place tops it and knows how to make a lovely Sunday roast, if you’re after a quick bite in the day the bird has you covered. Hats off to the chef

Just had a very tasty lunch, the roast beef was superb, also the gammon was excellent. Sticky toffee pud was a bit of all right. Certainly go back.

Ended up at the Bird i’th Hand by default as the first place we chose was closed. So glad we did, the meal and the service were superb. There is an extensive menu. A good atmosphere for a Monday evening. We’ll done to all.

Here for a family birthday celebration in the upstairs function room. Staff were great, very helpful and always cheerful. Plenty of car parking.

Not been in since before lockdown. As soon as we walked in we were greeted warmly by the lovely Sassie, such a lovely young lady. The menu had changed it used to be pizza and burgers now there is a full menu with something for everyone, absolutely perfect in every way. Nice comfortable surroundings we even played Dominoes. Thank you again Sassie for making our time at the Bird so enjoyable. Because of you we have decided to make the Bird our new Local.

Really positive dining experience 😀 The new post-Covid menu is much more varied than the previous “pizza and burger” menu (which was also very popular in its own right). There’s now “something for everyone”, I particularly liked the Desperado burger with curly fries. The staff are both welcoming and attentive. Great for families as well with outdoor dining at the rear. I’d highly recommend a visit 😀

Absolute bullocks no one come to serve you and when you manage to get hold of them and taps them on the shoulder and got an ultimatum what a joke will never go a gain

Lovely place to stop for a drink, ma says they make the best shandies. Nice garden area, some small areas that could use a little clean but they're very few and far between. Tables are lovely and well maintained, staff are brilliant and friendly.

I have frequented the Bird i’th Hand for a number of years and have watched as the pub has changed hands (no pun intended) but never have I come across a more rude, supercilious, self-entitled, smug-for-no-reason manager than the tall lady currently operating the establishment. She is extremely confrontational on arrival, talks to you as if you are a child when talking about COVID rules, and from then on doesn’t give you the time of day unless you are wearing skinny jeans and a cap sat on a table with your mates - when she’ll happily go and banter and soak up the attention for five or ten minutes, ignoring the rest of the pub. She constantly references the ten thousand pound fine in response to any question you ask. ‘Can I have a starter?’ was a genuine enquiry. ‘Would you like a ten thousand pound fine?’ Comes the answer. I feel like wearing skinny jeans and big trainers just to get a straightforward answer out of her.I’m pretty sure I’m not the only patron who thinks so, in fact I’m sure, as whenever I suggest going to the bird among friends I’m immediately greeted with the same ‘yeah but the manager in there is miserable’. I’ve been in there with people from Sale who know her from a separate establishment who have told me ‘yeah she was known for her attitude problem there’. So it can’t just be a select few in the Bird i’th Hand who have this same problem. There is a common denominator. You could dress up as her attitude for Halloween.The food there is ok, can’t go wrong with a pizza really can you ok it isn’t restaurant standard but what do you expect in a pub. I also feel the staff underneath her suffer as well, pick up the same bad habits with paying customers and treat them as a captive audience rather than paying punters. I could go on and on about how much of an unpleasant character she is but I don’t think I have enough space on this page nor do I want to bring people down by sharing the encounters I’ve been unfortunate enough to experience in the company of the manager everyone knows as ‘the tall miserable one’ in the Bird i’th Hand. Wouldn’t have lasted two minutes in an era with proper landladies in a proper pub. Who would have told her to change her attitude and her horrendous leather pants.

Really nice food at a good price. Friendly service and ample parking. Italian style of food throughout the menu that is fresh and very tasty.

Just enjoyed another 'could'nt fault' lunch at The Bird.The Covid precautions in place were spot on.The effort to keep customers safe had to seen to be believed.I jokingly suggested to my wife that we 'keep moving' or else risk being sprayed and being wiped down (2 or 3 times).I really feel for all concerned with this pub that it will count for nought when when announcements are made on Monday.Les Kinsey.

Nice little pub this place, the food is top notch. But my God, the bird behind the bar is one of the most miserable sods you’ll ever meet, face like a slapped backside. Think she’s the Manager, struts about as though the world owes her a living. You ‘manage’ (badly) a pub in Urmston, you’re not a Paramedic, darling.
