The Big Tree in Sheffield

Nice bar. It was convenient for us to walk to. They changed one of the TV's to American football which was great while we were there. Good drinks.

It's changed so much very flat atmosphere since disco's and karaoke over the weekend I come from Blackpool to see my brother and was so disappointed with the pub you need to get it back on or you will go the way a lot of public houses have gone☹️

Love this place but not as good as it used to be for World Cup exc!

Decided to have a bite to eat after exhibiting at the local country fair. Got our drinks from the bar and ordered some small plates. We couldn't order any grilled food as that was unavailable but they still had plenty of options for us. Food was served quickly and the barman checked our food was all to our liking before getting us some more drinks. We had a selection of 5 small plates, all were good quality and fair price which fall in line with any other Greene King.. They had live sports playing and even a DJ which suited the late Friday night. All in all it was a great experience with good food and excellent service. The staff really do go the extra mile to make sure you're catered for. Although it was busy we had no trouble parking, even with a large van.

Popped down for the MacMillan funday, the team put great effort in, had one of the burgers of the month too which was great

Food was lovely in all honesty had the gammon and hunters chicken but we both had the worst stomach issues afterwards so won’t be eating here again.

I came in the other day with my mate for a quick bite to eat, and my expectations were exceeded. We ordered two Medium rare rump steaks that were absolutely delicious, the chips were perfectly cooked and crispy, matched with a refreshing turbo Bellini cocktail. Also the customer service was excellent, the manager on duty, I think if I remember correctly is called Charlie was patient with my friend who is a fussy eater. Huge thanks to the manager and the chef.

Me and my girlfriend stopped off here for a quick bite to eat and a drink, it was 12:45 on a Tuesday afternoon, we sat down, and tbh we must have taken 20 minutes to decide what we wanted to eat, finally we decided what we wanted, so I walked upto the empty bar at around 13:10, the bar was empty because there wasn’t many people in at this time on a Tuesday, at first there was no service at the bar, but only for a few minutes which I didn’t care about, but then when I did get service, the first thing the woman says to me is; ‘it’s an hour wait for food!’… there was no hello, no explanation behind the bizarre 1 hour wait, there was no oh sorry you’ve just been looking through the menu for the past half an hour, I could have told you this when you walked in through the door and saved you your time, no instead we just got; ‘it’s an hour wait for food!’ … it came across very rude and tbh if I had the energy I would have questioned why the hell it was going to take an hour to serve food on a quiet Tuesday afternoon, when she hadn’t even heard what we wanted to order. I could have walked in the kitchen and cooked my own food in less than an hour, I couldn’t believe what I had just heard tbh and my girlfriend couldn’t either. We were very disappointed so we just chose to leave the pub right away.

Decent pub, falling behind with choice of beers locally.

My meal fish and chips was excellent but other's had the Sunday roast which they said was nice but all the vegetables were still hard and not cooked enough, apart from that it was good overall.

I came for something to eat, the service was great, the staff were friendly and helpful and The food was amazing! I highly recommend the Cheese and Bacon Burger, was delicious.

Came in for a meeting and have some food they have a lunch menu with great offers £7.49 for a lovely steak and cheese ciabatta. Food came out fast and staff were friendly. New weekly spot for us!

The Big Tree has been a stalemate in the community for more than a few generations. But for me personally, it’s my home away from home. Jess & Charlie add the atmosphere that it’s lacked in recent years. But don’t my word for it, just nip in and see for yourself

I went in with my mum and two sons 1 and 4 for a treat I ordered my food and was told they were no nuggets and no chicken and ham pie so had choose different foods for us then when the food came my sons food was terrible one was cold and burnt pizza and the other was cold hard mash and sausage and the gray was all I can describe it as like rice pudding so I sent it back and the bar staff had the audacity to come and question why I’d sent the food back then I got my 1 year old some pop corn chicken and he was sat in the pram waiting for my mum to finish her food that took over 1.5 hours to come and I got told to leave cuz my son was eating food that wasn’t sold there no apology or refund for anything I would of been embarrassed to serve the food they did to me this afternoon

Great pub, really good DJ and live singers. Foods great and so is the atmosphere. It's great now there's a new manager sorted the place right out!

Called into this pub for food and drink and the woman behind the bar was so rude, would rather stand talking to regulars than serve us, when we did get served everything we asked for on the menu they didn't have apparently...was made to feel so uncomfortable left my drink and walked out..safe to say I won't be going back

Considering it was Friday night, there were practically no people in the bar. Maybe 5 others apart from our group. You could say it was just a quiet night except there were plenty of people in the other bars in the area. The beer was good though and bar staff fine.

I’ve written a few reviews, all 5 star, about this pub in the past so it’s only fair that when I have a bad visit I write about that, too. Myself, my wife and my 4 year old were booked in New Years Day for a nice meal before I went to work. The meal and the service was fine (apart from a limited menu for some reason, I was looking forward to a steak but was told there wasn’t any) however one of the staff members was taking some Christmas decorations down behind us when he abruptly said, right behind my 4 year old, ‘some other f****** c*** did it’. A lady who was sat down behind him, I can only assume it’s his manager, promptly told him to stop swearing. A few minutes later he again swore. I was expecting someone to at least apologise to us but no-one said anything, it was as if we weren’t even there. I had to bite my lip whilst sat there as not to make a bit of a scene but that language in front of customers never mind a 4 year old is absolutely disgusting. I’ve noticed over the last few months how certain members of staff and management have been moved on and replaced but obviously the uncouth culture and behaviours of the Big Tree are still there.

Updated review: Went in to give it another try..... sadly we were disappointed. The ladies toilets had not been cleaned from the day the day before (over 24h ago according to the cleaning log). Empty bottle of vodka on the floor. Full big toilet roll in toilet pan. Toilet roll everywhere and empty rolls scattered about. The toilet roll dispensers are not used... I don't want to use toilet rolls that have been sat on top of overflowing sanitary bins! And the mens had no toilet roll at all between 2 toilet cubicles. No apology from staff when feedback was given. Original review: The pub is OK, unfortunately the food isnt. We had halloumi fries, chicken sliders, Italian sausages, and a Chicken Mega sharer. The onion rings were especially bad, and were soggy. The rosemary and sea salted fries seem to have neither rosemary or sea salt. The halloumi fries were soggy as they were covered in salsa. The chicken wings and thigh in the sharer were nice but the chicken strips and the sliders were like what you would expect in a children's meal. Lots of beige food.

Decent lunch deals. We had the steak ciabatta and the chicken/ avocado ciabatta. Cheap for a lunch and really tasty. Staff are lovely. Always smiling.

Okay, friendly and service, didn't try any of the food, but it's a Green King establishment. I've eaten at a similar place before so I know what I would be going

Alice at The Big Tree arranged a buffet for our family members after attending a funeral, the spread that was put on for us was perfect for what we asked for and although it was a sad occasion we All enjoyed meeting up at The Big Tree and would highly recommend it for any occasions. A big thank you to Alice and staff for all your efforts.

We were only in Woodseats for one day. We called into the Big Tree late on a Saturday lunchtime for meals and drinks, k owing nothing about the place. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Drinks were good and reasonably priced. Between the three of us, we had Lasagne, Steak, and a mixed grill, all were good - not special, but not bad, portion sizes were quite generous. There were a few menu items that we wanted that were not available; the place was busy, so we put it down to the items being very popular. Food prices were quite reasonable. Football on the TV screens was a bit loud, and with football not being our thing, it became a bit of a distraction. But overall, it was a pleasant experience, and we would go back.

Just spotted this place as we drove by and OMG I’m so glad we did, I had halloumi fries and pulled pork tacos and they were immense, nicest I’ve ever had ! My fella had a mixed grill at that was beaut too, steak cooked to perfection. Gorgeous place and staff were lovely too. I’ll defo make the hour trip from home to come again. I didn’t even take any pics cos I was that excited to tuck in 🤦🏻‍♀️

Fantastic bar staff and very well kept premises. However the cook looked about 16 and never have I been served such a burnt small pathetic burger, 1 soggy lettuce leaf half a piece of black bacon on a bun 3 times the size , chips felt like they had been sat 10 min on a windowsill. I definetly recommend a drink here but if it's food you want i recommend the wetherspoons just down the road , yes the food is that bad I'm recommending wetherspoons. Enjoy.

I love this place I’m disabled in a wheelchair the staff are amazing they always help me this pub is my local I love the staff and the regulars so happy to have this place so close to home thanks to all the staff for being so supportive and friendly

Really nice now with its outdoor area as well, with a huge screen. Ideal local pub, very friendly and has every facility necessary. Food menu is good with prices about average.

Arrived for our booked table for 8 at 1pm. Ordered drinks at the bar and ordered food through the app at 13.23pm. I had a specification for one of the meals so went straight up to the bar and asked for no salad on the mac n cheese and said we had ordered via the app and that they could bring all the meals out when ready and not to hold the meals up because of the 2 starters as our 6 year old was attending a party at the pub at 2pm so we wanted him to eat before the party with us as a family for Father's Day. 30 mins later 2 very small starters came out, how it had taken 30 mins to cook them I have no idea, expected the rest of the food to follow but the time ticked by, after an hour I went to the bar to ask where the meals were to be told they were being plated up. They must have been making the plates themselves because it was another 25-30 minutes before the food finally came out. 2 meals had to be sent back because they were cold. My partners scampi and chips had still not come out when they brought the warmed up roasts back out. The waitress apologised and said that the scampi had been forgotten and was being made now. After ordering at 1.20pm, the last meal arrived at our table at 3 pm! Absolutely shocking and customer service was awful. No keeping us in the loop, nothing! There was hardly anyone in the pub when we arrived, and in the hour and 40 minutes waiting for our meals, I saw no other food being served, but we were told the kitchen was busy. The pub was dead when we arrived and ordered. Was a family father's day meal, and we had pre booked our table so they knew we were coming. We couldn't order desserts as they were telling other customers there was a 2 hour wait on food by the time we had finished. Absolutely ruined our Fathers Day meal. Extremely understaffed, and I don't even think the chef was a proper chef as they were just in joggers and a t-shirt. I want a refund, I shall be contacting head office!

Usually like Greene King pubs but Casta only found Abbot as a real ale. The front paved patio was fairly busy on a hot day but too noisy as an impromptu car music broadcast was blaring. Fairish pint but overall a mediocre visit.

Went to watch football. Was a nice atmosphere. Will go again.

Went to watch the charity event they held for macmillan and it was a great experience, staff was kind and good to have a laugh with, even ordered some food and tasted amazing. Would all around recommend

Went into this pub as another chain had no food availability Staff where very polite and friendly and we only had to wait 20 mins for our lovely food to come out We then spent a further two hours enjoying the atmosphere and having a few more drinks

Very poor service booked for 24 people in april for today 4th may got there for 12.00 to eat at 12.30 some people came after us and was served first. The last one to be served from our group was at 1.30 some of the food was ok 4 people said the hunters chicken was tough chips only just warm. When we complained they said they only start at 12.00 so there is no chance of getting meals ready for 12.30 when we booked they never told us this or we wouldn't have gone there. The strange thing is that last year we went and they started serving us at 12.30 and it went smoothly. Unfortunately we will never be going there again the waitress who served us was lovely though.

Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Great choice of drinks. My only criticism is the bar wasn't clean, needed wiping up of all the spillages.

Service was really slow, and none of them had a good attitude. They have around 10 TVs around the venue, but none of them know how to work them, leading to lots of complaints.

Never been before so went in for a pint and walked back out five minutes later. Couple of guys with fake mustaches who I can only assume were acting out as Charles Bronson gave me and my friend a look like we just landed from another planet. Left before there was potentially any trouble. Never again. Also weed smoking outside, aptly named.

Visited here before football match for a quick bite to eat. Waitress stated steak, fish, chips & gammon out of stock. Ordered chicken wrap- no wraps! Given bloomer instead. Chicken was over cooked and bread Crusty Order ham pie. No broccoli, only peas available.Could not...

Lovely food, lovely drinks and staff that make you chuckle lol

Came in for a Sunday lunch. Orders on app to be told it should have been removed because no longer left. Had Steak instead which was well done but asked for rare but waited so long and was so hungry ate it anyway. Tomatoes tasted like they were washed in bleach. Other dinner rated their food which was steak too. I’d say worse meal out in a long time. Staff were friendly though.

A large family group all had food. Was very basic. Anything breaded was overcooked. The lasagne was horrible. Starters came after mains... coffee made with cold milk. Orders were mixed up . It's a shame because it's a nice pub but you will loose customers on the food. Will definitely not be returning.

Food is absolutely disgusting now, can't even use a microwave properly. Vile!!!! Do not waste your money.

How long have you got. Food was re heated and stale, all cooking staff dressed as the please no uniform to speak of. Toilet paper was not available. Table tops loose and need re attaching but the the staff were pleasant. I get it's not the Ritz but it certainly is the pitz.

Under new management again they seem to be doin well bar staff are friendly and the beer garden has had a major makeover still a sports pub so expect it to be busy match days
