What a place, I would travel to this place from afar. Just had Sunday lunch, what an absolute amazing meal. Food was amazing, service second to none. Completely faultless

My partner and myself had Sunday dinner here today , WOW, service was excellent, food was fantastic! My partner had the beef , I had the chicken , plenty of food and thoroughly enjoyed by both , highly recommend, wonderful atmosphere and people

Lovely pub set in the Leicestershire countryside, excellent choice of beer and friendly staff, although very disorganised and a bit chaotic at times, slow service didn’t help and meal was not the best, with extremely tuff beef, my main regret was I didn’t tell the owner’s what I thought of the experience face to face, they seemed more interested in being in garden area with the customers, we will not be back.

Fantastic Sunday lunch, absolutely beautiful food and fantastic service. Drew , Tracey and the team have breathed life back into the Belper and it’s so good to see. This is one of the loveliest country pubs and I would highly recommend a visit.

Haven't been here for about 15. Years as it has been closed on and off but I heard that it was open again with new management so paid a visit with my wife. We ordered a simple lunch of bread and olives which turned out to be excellent for such a simple dish probably the best I have had. The atmosphere of the pub was good and it is a lovely old building. I hope the new management does well and we will certainly return.

Have been going to the Belper for many years during which time it has had more Managers/Owners than a Premier League football team, none of whom have made much of a success of it. This is such a shame because it is a delightful Pub, has the good will of the local community and the potential to be a top class establishment. Having visited a couple of times recently and witnessed all the old failings repeating themselves ( service/noise/behaviour etc) I do not see this downward trend changing although the beer was good. Hope I'm wrong.

The best Sunday dinner I’ve had for years. I’ve never tasted such good food. The meat was cooked to perfection. Been two Sundays and incredible food. Thank you Chef.

This was my first visit for Sunday lunch and my last. We waited 2hours for food and when it arrived it was stone cold the potatoes were hard the veg was undercooked and the Yorkshire puddings were black. We sat waiting and till another table complained there was no response from the staff as to the delay if you are serving lunches you need to have more than one chef cooking would definitely not recommend this place to anyone the tables were sticky and hadn’t been wiped down either.

We chose the BELPER ARMS for our 50th wedding anniversary dinner Friday 2nd JUNE, I booked three weeks in advance and gave my home and mobile phone numbers. Checked a few days in advance, their website was active and still taking bookings, On arrival the premises was CLOSED and clearly ABANDONED. We had had NO CONTACT from the owners, They closed the doors with absolutely no thought for their customers, A simply text would have alerted me to the situation, it was approx a week later when their website finally announced their CLOSURE. THESE PEOPLE ARE CLEARLY UNSCRUPULOUS AND MUST NOT BE TRUSTED. Paul Reynolds.

We came here to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary and it didn’t disappoint 😁. The food was delicious , the owners so friendly , and the overall ambience was lovely. We shall definitely return, thank you 😊

Absolutely fantastic, brilliant service and friendly staff. The food was soooo good! Everything is homemade. We had Katsu curry and prawn puri- both beautiful - compliments to the chef! We will definitely be back, I think we have finally found our local!

Been for a drink a few times. Lovely pub I must say. However, I got served by a young man who was pleasant. That same young man who worked on the bar, was then told a few days later when I happened to be drinking in again, that he wasn’t allowed to come in the pub without a parent or guardian ‘due to licensing’. Now the hilarious part about this, the license is in full view of customers so I got up to have a look and it states absolutely nothing about this whatsoever. Why allow someone to work on the bar, but not even come in for a drink without an adult? Also think the language of some of the management has some improvement to be made. Poorly managed, the old owners definitely made the staff much happier to work there from what I can tell. The chef is also very loud and isn’t very pleasant to the FOH staff (heard from what I imagine is a kitchen door by the entrance) The amount of staff they have on at quiet times can’t be good for the business pockets or their own. My personal opinion and experience only, this isn’t to slate merely inform. But lying about the license when it’s clearly in view is just humiliating yourself if you ask me.

We love to visit with our dog on most Sundays as the roast dinners are delicious! Perfect portion size and always piping hot. The staff are very attentive and welcoming and it’s our favourite place to visit!

Our visit was very short-lived after seeing the sorry state of this historic leicestershire pub. The pub was almost empty and the menu looked very unappealing. The pool table and slot machine sealed its fate. We quickly left for another more welcoming pub nearby.

Today was the time ever visiting The Belper Arms today for a bank holiday meal with my partner. The menu had a lot to offer as myself being a Vegan. I recently read a previous review regarding someone questioning the vegan food so therefore I asked for evidence that my food was vegan. The staff happily bought out all packaging to prove their food was indeed vegan. The service was great, quick and effective and the food was absolutely spot on! The beer garden was lovely and such a lovely busy atmosphere. I will be 110% returning to trial the rest of their vegan meals.

I chose this place as a surprise for the Mrs as she used to work there many years ago. Booked using Facebook messenger which I find very good. We was offered to sit inside or out as it was a hot day yesterday (30/5/2021) but we chose inside and had the restaurant to ourselves which was nice. Plus we don’t like fighting flys off our food . Food and service were really good and came fast. The only thing I would have liked more of was gravy and I should have asked but it didn’t matter to much. We will go again sometime soon. Thanks

Very local to us so thought we would try it as heard good reviews. We must have caught them on a bad night! Starters when they arrived were dissapointing. My chicken strips were 3 very small, over-cooked goujons with an undressed salad (menu said dressed). My partners king prawn cocktail was a basic prawn cocktail with with little sauce. Mains were OK, although had to ask for new cutlery, which were then dumped on the table.Ordered dessert which then took quite a while to arrive and again had to ask for cutlery and I was given a soup spoon!Food, apart from the starters was OK, but the service was extremely slow and unprofessional. Especially as there were hardly anyone in on a Friday evening. To their merit they did take some items off the bill due to the slow service.Shame as it is so handy for us and we would have visited quite often I the future.

Fabulous meal last night at the Belper Arms, shown to a lovely table with plenty of room, staff were very friendly and attentive, food was amazing, starters were all great, our steaks were all cooked as we asked and were really tasty, portion sizes were really good too, my husband had the mixed grill it was huge and he really enjoyed it. The deserts which you could see in the chiller all looked lovely, we had the apple tart and ice cream it was as good as it looked. Thank you to all the staff for a great night out, we will definitely will return.

Took my mother in law yesterday afternoon for lunch. The staff were so helpful and friendly, they even suggested swopping tables as my m in law is 87 and feels the cold and there were a couple under cover,The food was limited, as you would expect given present circumstances, but there was plenty of choice and it was all really good when it arrived. Will definitely return.

Went here for a couple of hours on Saturday afternoon. Placed was rammed. Very welcoming staff. I took my 6 year old daughter and was really pleased when we saw they had a bouncy castle up for the day. Great little touch. Service was a little slow but please be patient. I think they were having issues with the system and let's be honest everyone has been off work for the last 12 months. Everyone is just getting back on their feet. Food was fantastic. I had steak. Very very tasty. Beer Moretti was beautiful. Thanks for your efforts. We will be back.

Found this place by accident and couldn’t be happier with my find! Staff were soooo pleasant and everything was so organised and we received brilliant service, quick with the food and everything was piping hot! Even when the app didn’t work everything was still brilliant! People coming and going and food and drinks still coming out on time! If I had cash on me I’d have left a tip. I will be back without a doubt and can’t wait to tell everyone about this little gem x

We booked to come for a couple of drinks having driven past the pub a few times. When we arrived we were left waiting whilst the manager seemed to have little idea what she was doing. We ordered drinks on the app which took ages to arrive and were almost completely wrong. Needles to say this was corrected and I can’t say anything negative about that necessarily apart from the fact that there seemed to be a lot of issues with drinks orders on other tables.I did spot that the manager seemed to be particularly rude to the other staff and no apology was offered for our order being wrong other than the correct drinks being dumped onto the table.What we did really take umbridge with was the manager asking other staff to ask when we had arrived, we were mid drink and were asked to go and stand by a bench that was covered with bird poo to finish our drinks. The person that I assumed to be the manager was really rude and despite there being four other tables free we were publicly made to go and stand next to a bench that wouldn’t have seated both of us and was covered in excrement. We had asked for the courtesy of ten minutes which we were not even offered. Similarly we weren’t told that the table was only available to us for 2 hours and feel that we would have been a bit more forgiving had this have been pointed out. The member of staff that we dealt with was also very argumentative and I feel that she put less senior staff in a really awkward position in addition to having dropped a significant amount of money onto the floor which we had to point out. The set up was like faulty towers but without being comedic. It would otherwise have been a really nice experience but we won’t be visiting again.

First time we have visited lovely pub, really glad we did. My wife and I had the lovely Sunday roast each and the great staff offered my son chicken nuggets and chips (which wasn't on the menu). Really glad we visited this pub, we will be back after this next lockdown

Booked for a Sunday lunch and was really looking forward to it - I mean, you can’t go wrong with a Sunday dinner can you? Well I didn’t think you could until today.6 of us dining, 4 adults and two children. The front of house staff were great - polite and nothing was too much trouble. The problem was what came from the kitchen. For a start, the adult portions were exactly the same size as the kids. I couldn’t believe it when my dinner was put in front of me. One tiny slice of beef was all the meat my adult portion had, exactly the same as my 5 year old niece’s!There is an option on the menu to effectively ’supersize’ your dinner, this shouldn’t be an excuse to give minute portions to those people not forking out an extra £3, especially as the food was pretty bad anyway.The gravy was clearly made from granules and badly too - it was watery with lumpy bits in. I wouldn’t have served it to my family at home so the fact that it came from a restaurant kitchen was really disappointing. The cauliflower cheese was watery with very little evidence of any cheese.My brother was visiting and I was embarrassed to have taken him there for lunch, to be honest, I couldn’t wait to leave the building.Sadly, I won’t we going back which is such a shame - a great looking traditional pub with a brilliant beer garden, just stick with crisps if you really have to have food!!

First time we visited for a few years and were pleased. Met with smiley faces and taken to a table when we were ready. Food didn't take long at all which is always nice. Nicely cooked steak and plenty of homemade puddings for pudding! Can't fault anything .

Lovely pub with good menu choices. A number of specials on offer and the homemade brownie was absolutely beautiful. Have been here for four meals since it reopened and each time we’ve been met with friendly, prompt service and the food has been tasty.

So it was a return today to a pub that I’d not visited for a few years - but have always been struck by its lovely charm and character. It occupies a superb spot in the village and has considerable history. Overall the experience was positive but was let down by a few details that although not worthy of complaining about, left me thinking its potential could be developed further. Comments here are therefore offered in good faith.Booking was easy, the young staff attentive and polite. The dining room felt secure and not too crowded during these difficult times, everything was clean and the drinks and food came promptly.The minor niggles were that the food wasn’t particularly hot and the beef quite stringy and fatty in places making it difficult to cut. No condiments were on our table although others did have them. When we asked were were given a wooden box that had a couple of paper sachets at the bottom that we had to fish out... not really what we were expecting! Decor is a matter of personal choice but my own view is it didn’t celebrate the historic significance of the building and maybe the place had lost it’s darker, cosy historic feel.All in all though a reasonably good Sunday lunch for a reasonable price (with a discount offered) and we’d come again. It’s just that others out there are offering something just that little bit more...

Have just enjoyed a very nice meal at The Belper Arms. My daughter and I really enjoyed our curries. We hadn't realized it was curry night and my husband doesn't do curry; but the waitress offered to do a grown up portion of pizza and chips - which went down a treat :) The desserts were delicious - chocolate brownies and a homemade cheesecake. This is our first meal out as a family since February and I felt quite safe with the various Covid measures in place. Finally, can I just say not only was the service swift and the food good, all the staff were friendly and helpful. We will be back to sample the full menu ;)

We were hosted by Laura and her team really well, drinks were great, food was great, nothing but good things to say! We’d previously ate in their other venue which was awful, such a pleasant change at the Belper Arms. We’ll certainly visit here again!

What can I say.... visited on a number of occasions, the reviews I have read are nonsense in relation to the management and their staff!!! The landlady can't do enough for you and the staff are amazing. I have been in when some customers are totally disrespectful to the staff and the staff are just trying to do their job and remain professional throughout. The uncalled for abuse; when all they are trying to do is a tremendous job in these difficult times is unacceptable. The food is great value for money and the service is great, we will certainly be back.

arrived at the pub with my family for a meal, we were seated straight away and I was very impressed with staff following covid regulations! Our drinks orders were taken as soon as we sat down and shortly after our food orders were taken... all waitresses were on the ball and the service was efficient and quick. Food was well presented. All round lovely experience, definitely booking again and would deffo recommend!!

A lovely pub but the food has gone down hill unfortunately after the pub was taken over. Food was very nice previously.

This pub needs a complete makeover! It’s a lovely building in a nice location with a great outside area but it’s totally let down by the menu and the decor. The menu is very dated, the presentation is awful and food quality is mostly bad (although the mushroom risotto with added salmon was surprisingly good). The young waiting staff are great but totally let down by a manager who seems to spend her time sitting chatting with her friends all evening. A big disappointment all round.

Arrived here for a drink with the wife around 6pm, was told that there would be a 2 minute wait for us to be seated, quite acceptable with whats going on with Covid, anyway, over 10 minutes later and we are still both stood there, i almost walked out but the wife convinced me to stay.Eventually we were seated, the girl behind the bar has no idea how to talk to customers, very abrupt and rude, i think her name was Kirsty, she seemed to be in a mood for some reason, our food took almost an hour to arrive and it was only a chicken salad, the chicken was tough and dry and not very nice, i was going to complain but given her attitude behind the bar i just chalked this one down to experience. Begrudgingly gave this place one star because there is no zero option! Avoid this place is the best advice.

Visited the belper arms for the first time this evening.. what a beautiful country pub. The staff were very welcoming and the food was lovely. I would reccomend this pub for anyone wanting a nice meal out or just a few drinks there is a nice garden for the kids aswell.

Went here to support our local pub with the eat out to help out initiative. But was extremely disappointed. The service we received was very poor. The staff did not consistently follow the Covid19 procedures. We had numerous waitresses that served us at the table. Some wore masks while others did not. We waited a long time to receiving our drinks after ordering and again after ordering our food. They had 'run out' of some wines and we had to ask for cutlery and condiments. The food was of very poor quality. The batter on the fish was overcooked and hard. Tbe salad consisted of lettuce and peppers. Some had a little red onion. Others had a stray pea or green bean. I ordered halloumi fries. But what I got was halloumi cooked in batter. It was overcooked and greasy and inedible. The halloumi had melted away. We asked the waitress to explain our bill. She was very rude. We complained to the manager about our food. But she seemed disinterested in what we had to say. What a shame! As locals to the village and this pub we will not be eating here again.

I would love to right a brilliant review for the Belper as I’ve had some lovely meals with my partner there over the last few weeks. But what we experienced last night was just sad. Originally we booked for 4 (3 weeks prior) as we planned to have a meal with our family but decided to invite my brothers family with us the day before (including a 2 year old). I spoke to the landlady the day before to change the booking which was fine , we where advised there was going to be a wait on food and accepted that. I even offered to order the food a day before to avoid any issues. We arrived everything seemed ok a bit busy but to be expected as this is the point of the scheme. We brought drinks sat down and put the order in around 30 mins or so after. We then where informed by the landlady the kitchen was closed at apr’ 19:40 and we wouldn’t be getting any food. I suggested possibly getting the sharing starters at least we would get something. The Landlady said she would go to the kitchen to ask if this was possible. She didn’t make it to the kitchen though as she was sat talking to a friends table just next to ours, but out of view. Other members of the table then returned from the outside bouncy castle to be greeted with the news and as the landlady was still there they had a civil conversation to discuss our options. The result that you sort of expect in that situation is an option to remedy the problem, offer of some form of compensation for example, drinks covered or just an apology.. it was just blamed on us for not ordering sooner. As a reaction to this conversation the landlady then said because of this she would not ask for the starters and we would get nothing.. which is just wrong. This then resulted in a shouting match which was mainly the landlady shouting at us all and she would call the police if we didn’t leave. The aggression and unpleasant nature was all from the landlady and I feel sorry for Belper staff having to witness the situation. I was personally there to support a local business as we should all do with the current situation. But the reaction to the situation was just uncalled for and embarrassed us all. We had a lovely meal at a public house down the road. I’m sure the Belper’s response will point the finger directly back at us for the situation but we are not aggressive people at all, we where just there to enjoy a meal together for the first time in a long time.

Table had been booked for 2 people yesterday evening. We walked in and advised the bar staff and we were told the kitchen was closed!!! No management around to try and rectify this we just got told you can’t have your table and you can’t eat here! It was coming up to 8pm so couldn’t rearrange to eat out elsewhere. We planned the evening to end up at the Belper and were left hungry and disappointed. They even had my details so why not call and tell me rather than let me make a special journey to the pub unnecessarily?!

Booked a table for 6 people whilst supporting the eat out scheme currently running. Ordered food at 7pm, food arrived 1:50 minutes later with no cutlery. Then waited 15 minutes for cutlery as there was no free clean cutlery!In this time no one checked the table or apologised for any delays, when the food did arrive the dishes were missing half of what was stated that would be part of the dish on the menu... as they had “ran out” of certain items - although no one bothered to tell us this until the food was served.We were also sat outside and due to the long wait it was now dark, external lighting was there but again they were not turned on. Also asking for condiments and then no one returns with your request added more disappointment.In summary the meal was a shambles and along with the service it’s a place we will be avoiding.

I had amazing night with my gf in Bulper Arms Restaurant. The best food and customer service in my life!!!! Staff was amazing and food like from michellin restaurant! Is the best Pub in this area

We had a wonderful meal last night at the Belper Arms (5/08). Well organised and prepared re the COVID situation. All tables were spaced apart.My husband ordered the mixed grill and I had salmon nicoise. Both meals were delicious. All fresh produce and cooked perfectly. We both had desserts, sticky toffee pudding and millionaire chocolate brownie ...amazing! There was a lot of staff - very attentive. We would definitely recommend.

A table booked for 11 people. Cold food. Cold plates. Food was returned twice and still luke warm when returned. A pizza and fries ordered. Fries freezing. Manager called and no help! We received 20% off the bill for food that we didn't even eat. Half the items advertised on the menu didn't even make it out onto the plates. Wont be going back one of the worst meals we ve had!!!

Have just spent a pleasant Sunday Lunch at this great little Country Pub. And under these difficult times we where served by two very efficient young ladies (Ruby &Chloe )who tried there best at all times to social distance which made us feel really safe and although they had masks on they had a welcoming smile Well done we will return

Visited last weekend with my girlfriend. Very good measures put in place for covid, QR barcode to scan on every table for menu so could order and pay for food and drinks without going to the bar and all brought out promptly by waitress. Food was delicious, girlfriend is vegetarian but still had a good selection for her to pick. The chocolate brownies for pudding were AMAZING!!! Would definitely recommend
